Staff were amazing , our waiter was so polite and accommodating , food was so good portions were huge and it was one of the best

I was searching for somewhere to have lunch. I popped in for what I thought was a light jacket potato and salad. I was impressed by the quality of the salad and the size of the potatoe for the price. Very clean and friendly. I also had a taste of the grilled chicken my companions had ordered. Quite tasty!

A very good place for breakfast and it’s associates. Food is usually tasty and of high quality Waiting time is not long but sometimes there is a lot of people and you have to wait outside for a little time before you can get a space which I feel it’s a testimony of their good services Costumer service is topnotch and food cost isn’t bad

When I went to visit the cafe was packed but the service still remained exceptional.Though the cafe is quite small the food made up for it.The staff were very efficient and got us seated and served very quickly.The pancakes were nice and fluffy and the French toast was custardy and sweet.The fruit and syrup that accompanied both were both fresh and luxurious and the coffees were piping hot and gave me the boost I needed.would highly recommend trying this place out.

We were lookiimg for somewhere for a late lunch and found the Mess. Upon entering we were greeted warmly, shown to a table and given a very comprehensive menu. I was pleased to see that breakfast was available all day unlike any other places! They have a number of suggestions for breakfast but there are plenty of options. Food arrived promptly and was very good - I particularly liked the bacon which had next to no fat on it, and really nice black pudding.

My youngest daughter and I visited here for breakfast. Service was friendly and accommodating and the decor in the cafe was homely with a nice Mediterranean vibe. I ordered a vegan breakfast which was very tasty and fresh.. coffee made with soya milk was just as nice. My daughter enjoyed the halloumi chunks with her eggs on toast and a lovely vanilla milkshake. All in all a lovely, good value breakfast in Hackney!

Stayed over in Hackney for a wedding and we ate lunch and breakfast at Mess twice. Very extensive and diverse menu for a small cafe. Food was excellent and well presented and the staff were lovely. Would definitely use if we were in the area again.

Amazing prices, amazing staff, food was exactly what you'd expect and felt like they had everything. Burger was great. Breakfast was great. Coffee was good. Food came out really fast. I keep going back just to try new things.

Regular customer. Mess cafe never fails me. The portions are good and usually always satifies my cravings 😋 The only issue is they charge you extra to swap 2 sides Mess cafe, you already know we will be back 😊

I have visited many times and can't fault it. Very good selection for both meat and non meat eaters. As a vegetarian I have had a vegetarian breakfast which was very filling, tasty and value for money. I've also had many jacket potatoes, sandwiches (good selection of breads), chips, salads and milkshakes. The options are endless. The establishment is clean, friendly and good value for money. I would recommend and make sure you come with an appetite 🤣 .

Super quick friendly service. It's a busy place so you might have to wait a few minutes for a table. Good portion size for the price. Delicious coffee included in the breakfast.

Friendly, clean and tasty. I ordered a veggie breakfast with granary toast. It was very tasty, filling and lots of choice. The coffee was nice and hot and was served with my order. I think this place is a good place to eat as there is a variety of dishes and drink options. It can get bust so make you sure you have time. It is also very clean and service is quick.

A very good spot for English breakfast I love the food and coffee but a little disappointed with the feta cheese there is no taste in that……

Horrible restaurant, hot overcharged so make sure you check your receipt. They like to create and add things. Horrible manager did not look for resolution.

So I took my daughter for a quick bit to eat, as we were both hungry. After looking at the menu there was a big variety, even if you were halal and vegetarian as for gluten-free which we felt was the best option we went for the jacket potato. I should have asked about gluten-free but next time. So I had salmon and my daughter had cheese 🧀 and salad 🥗 was on the side as well. We also had a bowl of chips 🍟 all was fresh and hot. The service was good and the atmosphere is clam but gets busy.

A nice café near Hackney Central Overground Station. I was seated straightaway by one of the staff and served promptly. My food didn't take long to come. I had the 4 ounce Mess Burger with cheese and wedges. It all tasted good, the burger was cooked perfectly for me. Service is efficient and the staff are polite. A good place to pop into for breakfast at any time of the day.

Stopped in for breakfast. Had the english breakfast #5. Came in a large bowl, there was no way I was still hungry after all that. Tasted great, better than I would get in the US. Well, at least where I live in the US. The fried patotes took me by surprise, they were french fries/chips. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Only down side was it was a touch warm. 56f outside and 80f ish inside.

One of my regular haunts for an English breakfast set with coffee, due to its quality of ingredients, cooking, and affordable price range. The vibe of this place is causal and unpretentious, akin to a diner where you can enjoy your meal with no fuss. If you get a chance, try their espresso shake too - made with freshly brewed espresso shots and scoops of vanilla ice cream blended into a delicious concoction, it’s an addictive delight. I believe I added banana into it once and it was superb.

Usually busy so it's likely you could shate your table but the food is all good and they javent taken the piss with prices in order to see. Upmarket. Get a full English or the halal version and be equally happy .

I've been coming to this cafe since 2015. Food is fresh tasty and decent portion sizes.. they had a makeover in recent years and its lovely inside sometimes playing classic 80s music. The ladies are always lovely. BEST CAFE IN HC

As the cafe was in walking distance from the Travel lodge in Hackney, this was perfect for breakfast for the weekend getaway to London. Plenty of choices on the menu. Difficult to decide what to have. Service was exceptional on both days. The food on both days was delicious and plentiful. Definitely recommended!

Amazing little place in Hackney which serves all days breakfadt and brunch. We both had something different. I had the scrambled egg veggie option and it was lovely. They have a non veggie and a Halal option for the menu too. Really recommend this place. The price for a veggie breakfast included coffee just for 11.00😁.

Top shelf breakfast. Best in London, maybe the UK. Best ive had so far. ALWAYS on point. Lovely staff. Not a greasy spoon, or a fluffy hipster spot, somewhere between. Prices have gone up recenttly and a breakfast with a proper coffee/tea will set you back like £10.80.Kinda pricey but worth every penny. But in the grand scheme of things..defo worth it. They never disappoint, have been prob like 50 times and always better than the last. Always rammed. All the sauces and condiments youd ever need on the table. A local gem, Consistantly good. Pretty much always near enough full/busy but always seem to have a seat somewhere. Zero faults every experince so far, i dont usually gas up cafes on google but this much deservered. Do not hesitate to go to Mess Cafe if you need nice up your belly

Cons: Not value for money. You won't get more than one of anything in your meal besides toast and Hash browns. So skimpy portion sizes. Pros: Nice Atmos, decent food, friendly staff.

Great food options; I’ve been coming for over 4 years now and love it but wow! prices here went through the roof in the last few months.

Great food greeted with a huge smile vary polite and good portions and great value and vary clean.

Would normally be a 5 star but there is a new worker. No manners, rude and tried to charge an extra 50p to put coffee into a takeaway cup. Never had this level of service here before. Disappointing If i could suggest that instead of sarcastic owner replies here, that you take your time to sort out the new lady chewing her gum with her open mouth over food & charging people 50p for take away cups.

I left a positive review 2 years ago but just recently things have gone down hill food standard not as good, today I saw a staff member standing on the worktop with trainers on stocking shelves doesn't clean the worktop when I spoke to the man about it his response was she must of cleaned it nothing else, my thinking is if that's what you do infront of customer's what do you do when we can't see. Unfortunately I won't be returning hygiene is big thing for me.

The perfect casual breakfast date me and my boyfriend go early near enough every Saturday morning and the service is fantastic. The family always remember greeting me with my delicious oat cappuccino and my boyfriends latte with mess 5 breakfast and a veggie breakfast for myself :) xx

This little cafe has great staff that produces and designs amazingly tasty dishes. Which endears Mess cafe to be very well sort after that can result in a seeting cue, despite other local cafes remaining empty. There is a beautiful combination of food, staff, decor, ambiance that make Mess Cafe unique and we'll worth a visit, after the first experience you will want to come back and repeat it, over and over again.

Great cafe with extensive menu. A little pricey.

Ordered pancakes, fruits and halloumi on Uber Eats a month ago. It was a disaster. The fruits arrived literally mouldy, the halloumi was so hard and bland, and the pancake didn't taste good. I was surprised because I've ordered the same thing a few months ago and had a good experience then.
