Amazing food. A real hidden gem. Portion sizes are big and there was nothing to fault. I left my scarf behind and they kindly posted it to me promptly with no charge for postage which I was more than happy to pay for. Great service and we will be returning.

We were early so drank outside until our tble was ready. The staff were warm, helpful and welcoming. The food was very very good. We ordered tapas and some of our party coupled-up and shared seafood paellas which were amazing. The wine was good, so good that we returned after the theatre for nuts and olives and more wine.

Been here with a couple of friends for a dinner and everything we ordered was great. The waiter (Andres) was really friendly and funny. The place deserves a try.

What a gem. Lovely authentic tapas. The sangria was amazing! It felt like you were in a back street in Madrid. There were only 2 waitresses but they were still so helpful and attentive. The chef also came out to chat. I would definitely recommend.

We arrived at around peak time (Sat evg at 8.30pm). To my surprise, having read recent negative reviews about service) we were seated and had ordered and received our tapas within 15-20 mins. Our mains then arrived while we were finishing our tapas. The waitresses were friendly, efficient and helpful. When we couldn't decide what flavour of croquetas to order (chicken, ham or mushroom), the waitress said, 'Well you get 6 altogether, so why not order 2 of each?' Which we did. Later, I guess when the kitchen had quietened down, the chef came round the tables and ask us about our meal. I told him (honestly) that the food was lovely.

Not just the best paella, it’s a piece of home in London. So happy to find food from home and thanks to Pepe we can enjoy not just the delicious Spanish tapas but people can fin out a taste from Murcia, a lovely Spanish city (you have to try a marinera, pisto Murciano y pan de calatrava!). To highlight the staff that welcome you and deliver a five stars service. If you like Spanish wine like me Meson Callejón has a wide range of wines red, white and of course Sangria! I recommend to not leave without trying the cheesecake which is other level…

We booked a table for 2 on a Sunday at 5:30pm. There were two other tables: one family was finishing their meal, one woman was waiting for someone, having a drink. Better said it wasn’t busing at all. The waitress was not nice at all. She wasn’t rude, but absolutely not friendly. She seated us in the very middle of the room, even if there were better tables available. We ordered some ham to share as a starter, and then two tapas each as a main. I wanted some chorizo, didn’t have it. Some meatballs, don’t have it. Frustrating but fine. When food arrived, I got my two tapas first, and my partner got his two tapas like ten minutes later. How is it even possible in an empty restaurant? They can’t even serve the both of us at the same time? Oh and we got the ham (we thought she forgot about it) halfway through our tapas. Even though we ordered it as a starter! (she didn’t even acknowledged it was late or nothing). Then she wanted to take our empty plates (fine of course) and almost took one that still had food in it. Way she in a hurry to have the restaurant empty again? In the end, we paid 90 pounds for 5 tapas, a jug of sangria and an awful service. I feel extremely upset and it almost ruined my day. We basically paid for having our dishes (not even that good) served in a the wrong order by a waitress who clearly didn’t want to be here. I was so upset by the experience that I have nothing to say on the food. It was average and I couldn’t enjoy it because of the bad service. Just don’t go there, they don’t want to serve customers. At least Mc Donald’s will be more friendly and you’ll be able to afford rent after dinner. No wonder why it was empty. And to the waitress, don’t work in hospitality if you don’t want to talk to customers. We were friendly with you, being friendly with us was the bare minimum. What an awful restaurant.

The service was terrible. No one on the floor to greet customers. Over 20 minutes to get drinks. Wrong drinks order twice which then ended up on bill. The food was another 20 minutes. Customers around us left waiting, given wrong orders, slow service, asked to move tables. There must have been a lot of complaints. They will go out of business if there isn’t anyone managing waiting staff, who were pleasant but highly inexperienced.

What a treat this was!! Cannot believe its tucked away out of view like it is but then that makes it more of a gem. The food is out of this world, we shared plenty of tapas and the depth of flavour in some of them was insane. Real good hearty food, the sauce with meatballs could be eaten all on its own. Well seasoned with the right amount of everything, the chef really knows his flavours. Washed down with 2 jugs of their finest sangria, this one of the bast tapas restaurants I have been to (even in Spain)

We arrived and the waitress was lovely, the tapas is okay but nothing special. The service is very slow, everyone in the restaurant was looking quite bored. The ambience is so quiet that when you walk in everyone stares at you as you walk to your seat. They staff do not great you when you arrive and you have to go into the restaurant to find them. The Paella we ordered was seafood and chicken. It was terrible as the fish was off. When I explained this to the manager all he could say was 'but it has fish in it of course it will be fishy' ... no there is a clear difference between fish that is fresh and fish that is not. The worst thing was that when we told the waitress that we were unhappy, she was polite and understanding and said 'let me see what we can do for you'. The manager came no acknowledgement of the issue 'how would you like to pay'. Absolutely TERRIBLE management skills and customer service. There was no 'I'm sorry to hear there was an issue with the food'. He just did not care. He only apologised when I pointed out how terrible his skills and service were. Every other decent restaurant in London would have offered something for this issue (not what we set out for), but he said there was nothing he could do. I was recommended this place by a Spanish friend but the service and attitude just left a nasty taste for us. I would avoid this place as if there is something wrong they don't care. They might try a nice sweet reply to this but they will be trying to cover up.

We really liked everything. Service attentive., quick. We asked for recommendations and we got them. We liked all the tapas and the wine we ordered. Everything was very good. For paella we ordered arroz a Banda, some kind of special paella. We were happy all over.

A cozy intimate venue at the hearth of north London. If you are for Spanish feel and are into paella and tapas (who isn’t?), you found your place! Excellent service and a special thank to Andreas Giovanni, that cheese cake was insane!

Having lived fairly close-by for many years, it’s a shame we didn’t discover this Spanish restaurant sooner! Good quality tapas… from the croquettas to the sausage, from the fried peppers to the excellent prawns. Good wine list Great service

We visited Bar Rioja on a Saturday evening. The venue itself is lovely, small cosy and intimate. The young lady serving us was great, very friendly and and had good knowledge of the wines. Unfortunately the food was a complete disappointment. We ordered 5/6 different tapas dishes. The croquettes were cold, the pork dish had a hard stone in it which could have been either an olive stone or a peice of bone, I was lucky to not chip a tooth on it. All of the food was under seasoned, bland and luke warm at best. We ate it anyway, as we wanted to stay at the venue to try the extensive wine list. We stayed and tried 7/8 different wines which were all nice, but didn't make up for the poor food. All of the food was added to the bill, dispite us flagging the cold food / bone in the pork being flagged to the staff.

Lovely wine but the food was very underwhelming and expensive . For example the patatas bravas looked like frozen potato cubes with a blob of sauce. The croquetas were decent

Tasty food and was popping hot to my mouth which was enjoyable. Considering food arrived early and I was happy it that it came early. Just sadden they didn’t give me no salad for the curry’s and rice. I also didn’t receive any sauces for poppdoms and had to it it dry. Although everything was to a good point.

We’ve been to the one at Gt Portland St. several times but I guess having a late lunch on a Monday in Farringdon does present some challenges. The restaurant was far from buzzing and staff were more preoccupied with clearing up rather than attending to the few customers who were still there. However, food was very good. Stand outs were the black rice and pear & spinach salad. Chorizo lollipops and patatas Bravas were good too, but the beef cheek croissant was a bizarre and expensive concoction- never seen that in Spain! Overall still a good restaurant, but not as “special” as the Gt Portland St one
