everthing is so delicious from the rice and meat to the traditional Ethiopian cuisine and portion sizes are huge ma'sha'Allah.

Fantastic Somali cuisine ordered for a party hosted at home. All the guest were super impressed. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for delicious slow cooked lamb and rice cooked with traditional somali flavours. 10/10 from us Sara thank you so much for your pleasant and professional service. Will definitely be coming back!

I went here for the vegan injera platter and even though they were about to close, they whipped up the best platter for me within minutes. Sara, the owner is so sweet and took time to come talk with me about how my day was going. I can’t wait to go back again- it was all delisting but the beetroot dish in particular was so yummy and unique!

The best East African food I have ever had. Lentils and yellow peas cooked on point. Delicious lamb and perfect slightly sour and chewy injera. Also, absolute value for money. Will be definitely back.

very hospitable place, the portions are MASSIVE and one plate will comfortably feed two people! would recommend if looking for authentic East African food in general 👍

This restaurant is located in the East African Quarter of Manchester off Wilmslow Road and is a fully sister run operation ma sha Allah. The food is a mixture of Yemini, Eritria and Somali and menu has a wide selection of dishes from fish, lamb, chicken and beef and served with rice/anjeera. The service is super friendly and food was amazing with a homely environment and each meal comes with a banana as standard. Must try if you want to try African food in Manchester.

Absolutely dirty environment. Food was literally everywhere. The floor, the table etc. No one to attend cleaning the table. Absolutely awful 😖 I had to step out and wait for mu friend to make the order. I totally lost my appetite and couldn't eat the food.

We tried the Merhaba for the first time this week, and are delighted to have found it. The menu includes a wide selection of dishes, including vegetarian options, and the food is not too spicy but nicely flavoured. The restaurant is unprepossessing from the street, but done out nicely inside, with Ethiopian music and a large screen of scrolling landscape shots adding to the ambience. The chef / waitress was helpful with her advice about dishes and quantities, without being at all pushy. The food was beautifully presented - we ordered a sharing platter but it came with mini-portions of each dish around the big plate, so we didn't have to reach across each other. And it was all excellent value. We'll definitely be going back.

Really tasty food and friendly staff. A range of great looking Ethiopian food. Meat dishes, vegetarian Beyaynetu platter, injera. A healthy mix of very familiar flavours and some subtle different ones to the typical English palette of Indian/Chinese/European spices. I went in here after 8pm on a Sunday, by which time the lady who runs the place normally retires to the comfort of her home. Very decently of her I was served anyway.

Mi familia y yo hemos estado en Merhaba muchas veces y lo adoramos. Mis hijos (7 y 4) no pueden obtener suficiente arroz y cordero de Sara y siempre terminamos uno de los platos compartidos grandes en pan injera. El delicioso café fuerte tostado en el restaurante se suma a la experiencia. Sara es maravillosamente hospitalaria y nos trata como si fuéramos de la familia. Muchos de los establecimientos en Claremont Road son solo para un grupo demográfico, pero encontrará una verdadera mezcla de personas que son bienvenidas aquí. No puedo recomendar un viaje a Merhaba lo suficiente.

I know I bang on about this place alot but it is the best place to eat for me. The food is incredible! Take all my friends to try it, went today and the lamb was sublime. My advice let Sara make you something just tell her what protein you want ! The lamb is to die for! This place should be so busy

One of my favourite places to eat in Manchester ! This is lovely home cooked food I go every Thursday and I am never disappointed the lady owner (Sara) is amazing and will just cook you something special I leave it to her as to what she cooks. Highly recommend this place to all my foodie friends.

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Manchester it's incredible. The lady owner is lovely and very accommodating. The food is always excellent one of my favourites is her lamb stew with many different vegetables and pancakes to eat it with . I have tried many dishes there and never disappointed. My friend is a vegetarian and it's his favourite meal of the week. This is a must try place, go then you'll be telling your friends your new amazing find..

DO NOT EAT HERE! They have a food hygiene rating of one out of 5. You can check for yourself. Only go if you want food poisoning or to get ripped off!

Never tried Ethiopian food before but loved it! And the coffee!

Visited here last Thursday with a colleague of mine as we work close by every week. Another friend introduced us to the owner as he knew her and we asked for two meals one veggie and a meat one for me. The lady said come back in 20mins and on return we was presented with a nice salad to start then the most incredible food to follow we was blown away ! The lady is amazing we both decided this would be our regular lunch place on a Thursday. We mentioned it to her and she said she would have it ready! So so cheap too ! I can't recommend this place enough. Don't be put off by the Scruffy shops either side. The food and service are what you go for, the decor is great inside too. 5 stars and worth everyone.

Had a great vegetarian dish here. The lady serving us was very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious.

We came here as a group of 8 and the owner could not have been more helpful, readily accommodating various dietary requirements including two coeliacs and one dairy free. We were not made to feel like we were causing a problem, it was no trouble. In addition, the food was all freshly cooked, absolutely delicious and extremely generous portion sizes. All served with such grace and warmth by the owner. Highly recommend trying it!

Fancied Ethiopian (injera) but didn’t want to go to town so gave this place a go. Rang them and placed a telephone order. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be doing it again!

My God! This is honestly the best Ethiopian food I’ve had in Manchester. If your looking for something authentic, yummy and cheap, this is the place to go. The customer service is absolutely phenomenal, Sara who is the head Chef and owner of this beautiful resturant will always make you feel at home. Defo coming back again!🙂

This is a long-term favourite of mine, but with a major refit its slightly tatty cafe aura has been replaced by clean, attractive surroundings. The food is still prepared fresh and served with the usual warm welcome, but the menu has expanded hugely, to include most of the usual meat and vegetable items found in Ethiopian restaurants, along with Eritrean and Somali specialities and the option to have proper Ethiopian coffee roasted, ground and brewed from scratch. All at the most ridiculously low prices. Can't recommend it highly enough!

Newly refurbished and re-opened at the start of 2018, Merhaba on Claremont Rd, opposite the primary school, now has an amazing menu of Ethiopian and Somali dishes, prepared by the friendly and welcoming owner. The vegetarian options are delicately spiced and tasty, and the lamb and chicken dishes lavish. The prices are incredibly cheap, and everything is available to take away, too. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Love the food here. Proper Ethiopian and Eritrean food. Really good coffee. Good value. I come regularly.
