Merhaba Ethiopian Restaurant in Manchester

We tried the Merhaba for the first time this week, and are delighted to have found it. The menu includes a wide selection of dishes, including vegetarian options, and the food is not too spicy but nicely flavoured. The restaurant is unprepossessing from the street, but done out nicely inside, with Ethiopian music and a large screen of scrolling landscape shots adding to the ambience. The chef / waitress was helpful with her advice about dishes and quantities, without being at all pushy. The food was beautifully presented - we ordered a sharing platter but it came with mini-portions of each dish around the big plate, so we didn't have to reach across each other. And it was all excellent value. We'll definitely be going back.

So happy to see Sara again after lockdown! We love this place my favourite place to eat in mcr. Always amazing food and Sara is a brilliant lady. We went with our school bubble of teachers for an end of year lunch.. Myself and one other had the lamb and my other 4 colleagues had veggie. Outstanding as always 2 of the group hadn't been before and loved it they will be new regular customers!

Amazing food, very good value. Highly recommend this fantastic place - very good options for vegan and vegetarians too.

My family and I have been to Merhaba plenty of times and we absolutely adore it. My kids (7 and 4) cannot get enough of Sara's rice and lamb and we always finish off one of the large shared platters on injera bread. Lovely strong coffee roasted in the restaurant adds to the experience. Sara is so wonderfully hospitable and treats us like we are family. Many of the establishments on Claremont Road are for one demographic only but you will find a real mix of people are welcome here. I cannot recommend a trip to Merhaba highly enough.

Bad. Disgrace. Those are the words to describe this restaurant! This needs to be worked on and a improvement is dearly needed. Worst Restaurant EVER!

I know I bang on about this place alot but it is the best place to eat for me. The food is incredible! Take all my friends to try it, went today and the lamb was sublime. My advice let Sara make you something just tell her what protein you want ! The lamb is to die for! This place should be so busy

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Manchester it's incredible. The lady owner is lovely and very accommodating. The food is always excellent one of my favourites is her lamb stew with many different vegetables and pancakes to eat it with . I have tried many dishes there and never disappointed. My friend is a vegetarian and it's his favourite meal of the week. This is a must try place, go then you'll be telling your friends your new amazing find..

Visited here last Thursday with a colleague of mine as we work close by every week. Another friend introduced us to the owner as he knew her and we asked for two meals one veggie and a meat one for me. The lady said come back in 20mins and on return we was presented with a nice salad to start then the most incredible food to follow we was blown away ! The lady is amazing we both decided this would be our regular lunch place on a Thursday. We mentioned it to her and she said she would have it ready! So so cheap too ! I can't recommend this place enough. Don't be put off by the Scruffy shops either side. The food and service are what you go for, the decor is great inside too. 5 stars and worth everyone.

Had a great vegetarian dish here. The lady serving us was very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious.

We came here as a group of 8 and the owner could not have been more helpful, readily accommodating various dietary requirements including two coeliacs and one dairy free. We were not made to feel like we were causing a problem, it was no trouble. In addition, the food was all freshly cooked, absolutely delicious and extremely generous portion sizes. All served with such grace and warmth by the owner. Highly recommend trying it!

Fancied Ethiopian (injera) but didn’t want to go to town so gave this place a go. Rang them and placed a telephone order. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be doing it again!

This is a long-term favourite of mine, but with a major refit its slightly tatty cafe aura has been replaced by clean, attractive surroundings. The food is still prepared fresh and served with the usual warm welcome, but the menu has expanded hugely, to include most of the usual meat and vegetable items found in Ethiopian restaurants, along with Eritrean and Somali specialities and the option to have proper Ethiopian coffee roasted, ground and brewed from scratch. All at the most ridiculously low prices. Can't recommend it highly enough!
