Mercure Ardoe House Aberdeen in Aberdeen City

No what it is being advertised as . We only stayed one night but it was enough . The hotel is very worn out carpets are worn and dirty the rooms are big but dirty same with the bathrooms ,the sheets did not fit the bed or the duvet . Food was good but over priced and sadly the staff where not very attentive . The spa was no better . It could be a fantastic place if it had a bit of pride aplied to it .

This hotel presents well on the internet, but it needs updating. The carpets are worn and could use a good cleaning. Little noticeable things that could be looked after - like the elevator needs a polishing for example. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was large enough with a nice shelf to store products. The Nespresso coffee maker didn’t work (we tried for 20 minutes). Finally I called down to the front desk and they immediately sent up two cups of coffee. Nice touch. Thank you. We stayed for dinner and it was fairly pricy for the quality of food presented. The Sea Bass (on noodles with veggies) was tasty, but I asked for vegetables only with my fish and got a pile of sweet stir fried veggies … not very tasty without noodles. But, you can’t have everything as they tired to please me. Overall a moderate dated hotel advertising as an upscale one. Nice but not what we expected.

My Mum, my son and I went for lunch at the bar after a nice swim at the pool there. Atmosphere in the bar was dire, the TV was on playing 'Capital' radio while the waitress sang to herself and the furniture was dirty and shabby. The menu looked pretty good so we (unfortunately) decided to stay and give it a try. I ordered hot chicken sandwich, soup and chips to share. My Mum ordered soup and a hummus sandwich. My son had fish and chips. When the food arrived, the fish and chips looked pretty good; it looked like it was freshly fried and my son did enjoy that. The soup was ok, but unfortunately the rest of the food was just so grim. The bread rolls that came with the soup were microwaved (it was flat, rubbery and you couldn't even break it open with your hands), the carrots in the hummus dish were so dry as if they were pre-cut a week ago. The salad to go with the chicken sandwich was off, limp and a weird dark colour. The chicken also seemed as if it was just heated up in the microwave and stuck in between two bits of bread. I could tell that it wasn't a great pick for lunch as no one I know even speaks about eating there and it was totally dead at the height of lunch time. Definitely avoid this place! So many other nice places to go for food! It's a shame because it's such a nice building, but they just have it so so wrong on the food/restaurant front. They definitely have to up their game!

We went for a two night break to mark special occasions that had been missed for various reasons . From start to finish , we had an amazing time and would like to thank the manager and his team for such a wonderful experience ! Please thank all your amazing , hard working friendly staff - they are the ones that make the hotel what it is !! There were only very very minor details such as missing Cutlery at breakfast and no mugs for coffee or a bin for waste at breakfast ( tea bags , cereal packets , tissues etc) which can be easily remedied and anything we asked the staff for was no problem to any of them . The lovely extra touches that you did for us were amazing , the swans from the towels were a lovely thing to do ! The food was exceptional and fresh and service was not slow as per some previous reviews . I would very definitely recommend a stay here anytime !!

Painfully Disappointing We waited for 45 minutes in the restaurant for our main courses. When we asked when our food might come, they went off to ask the kitchen and it arrived 5 minutes later, no apology, in fact, the young guy who was serving is seemed defiant and annoyed that we'd even asked. He literally looked at us in disgust. It's love to say the food was amazing. The main was OK, but the starter of Cullen Skink was way too salty and was 90% potatoes..I wouldn't have bothered writing a review had it but been for the arrogant young restaurant manager. Ruined our anniversary experience that we'd paid handsomely for! Avoid.

I have sent 2 emails to Ardoe House regarding several issues with the poor customer service, both of which have been totally ignored. Not as much as an acknowledgement of receipt. From piles of dirty dishes still in the walkway late afternoon to poorly signed posted directions to the spa, emergency doors held open by a brick and being told we did not 'qualify' for the robes for use in the spa (which was part of the booking), rude housekeeping staff etc. At least the food was absolutely lovely and Gordon in the Spa and Michael in the restaurant were terrific. Sadly these 2 staff members were the only ones who made us feel welcome.

Where do I start!!! Well, we arrived on Monday 30th August for a 2 night break, an hour earlier than check-in, fully expecting not to have our room ready, but no problem!! At check-in we were informed that there was a problem with the kitchen, therefore dinner would not be served at the Hotel. There was a list of hotels that we could be booked into for dinner and our dinner allowance would be taken off at the particular hotel!! As lunches were not being served either, we opted to go to Maryculter House Hotel for lunch and booked a table for dinner that same evening. As this Hotel was not on the list, the dinner allowance would be deducted from our final bill. It was at our expense to travel there and back. On our way to dinner at Maryculter House Hotel we stopped off at reception to enquire if our reservation for dinner the following night was valid. We were informed that breakfast should be okay, but there was a question about dinner the next night! We decided there and then that we would go home at 7pm!! We had to cancel our reservation at Maryculter also. It was such a disappointing 2 night break away which didn’t happen!! We like to just chill out when we go away, but this was so stressful!! We have been to Ardoe many times in the past and sadly won’t be returning in the near future! Such a shame and a pity as we were looking forward to our stay there! I have given this review a One as regrettably there is no zero review. Very sad.

Dommage tout paraissait correct au moment de la réservation mais déception une fois sur place. Petit déjeuner dans une salle glaciale avec un choix plus que limité, en raison du Covid on découvre à travers une simple note d'info remise à l'accueil, l'air de rien, que le ménage ne sera pas fait pendant toute la durée du séjour (3 nuits), au restaurant le menu affiché sur le site n'est pas disponible donc impossible de grignoter une simple salade rapide en fin de journée....et je ne parle pas de l'accès à la piscine qu'il faut Booker dès l'enregistrement si on veut y accéder ! C'est certain que nous n'y reviendrons pas lors de notre prochain séjour à Aberdeen dans quelques mois.

the hotel staff are very friendly and the manager was amazing we checked in with 2 young kids and he brought them hot milk and a home made cookie, was a fantastic experience, we also had a spa treatment and that was wonderfull .

We met up with family from Fife to celebrate a very special 90th birthday. We asked in advance if we could have a private dining area but were advised this wasn’t an option. However upon arrival we were allocated the Elliot room for lunch, dinner & breakfast the following day which was well received. Our 5 year old was able to play and draw without disturbing any other guests. We needed to ask for someone to come and take our order for food and drinks. On a couple of occasions our orders were forgotten about and staff needed prompting. The food was of great standard and quality, the rooms comfortable and the hotel in general was very quiet. Everyone adhered to social distancing and the wearing of masks whilst in public areas. The grounds were unkept but this didn’t detract from our visit. The spa and swimming pool weren’t open. We’d have gone for a swim with our daughter if we’d had the opportunity but again it didn’t detract from our stay. The lady who served us during the day on Saturday was very polite, accommodating and complementary of our well behaved daughter. The waiter on Saturday night and again at breakfast on Sunday wasn’t very friendly or polite and looked as if he didn’t want to be there! Overall a great visit to where we had our wedding reception some 14 years ago. We’ll definitely be back . . . maybe in another 14 years!

Absolutely amazing hotel. It was our first visit and it surely didn’t disappoint, we got the valentine package deal which included dinner. Oh the food was so good, I recommend the sirloin steak as it was the best steak I’ve had in a very long time. The hotel felt so homely and welcoming. There is a real coal fire as you come into the hotel and there was a wedding that day but you wouldn’t have thought there was a wedding going on. Everyone was kept separate. Will definitely be back.

3 nights away for a relaxing break. Hotel inside and out does not disappoint, Room to a very high standard and clean. We dined in both bar and restaurant and found the menu had very good choices and the standard of food was very high .We will return

Such a great fun at Hogmanay Bash this year! Special treatment from the pipers and the fireworks display was pretty amazing. The staff have put every effort to make the night special. Excellent service from Michal and Paul! Thanks Guys Xx

Our table was booked for 4pm.As soon as we sat down a waitress asked if we wanted water on the table, yes, and also the glasses of champagne and canapés that we should have had on arrival! They eventually arrived .. albeit after the first course! ..and we settled down to enjoying our chosen courses and also wines, this became a bit of a struggle due to the fact that some of the staff hadn’t quite grasped the English language and struggled to understand what my husband was talking about while choosing the wines so much so we had more than one member of staff trying to understand the requests so needless to say it started to become a tad frustrating and other diners who were there that day would totally agree as we sat and watched table after table complain of the poor service and how slow they were to serve, the sorbet which should have been served to us after the first course was served after the main, by that time I personally gave up on ordering a sweet.After such slow service and staff who couldn’t understand what was being asked of them most of the time my husband asked for someone in charge who DID understand to be brought to our table, he expressed his disappointment at what should have been a relaxing family Christmas lunch, the food was ok but the waiting time unfortunately took the pleasure away, we were rewarded by not having to pay for the wine but we would rather have had good service, it was only the joy of being with family that made it pleasant at best.

Very disappointed to write this as tried to contact the hotel 3 times to resolve but no response so another example of the atrocious service experienced. Booked afternoon tea and upon arrival, no table set up so waiter had to set up plates etc whilst we were sitting there. Asked once during a two hour period if we wanted drinks. Was not offered any top ups or any other drinks! Basically had our afternoon tea thrown on the table and that was it. No explanation of what was in it, which was especially bad considering we had one person with dietary requirements, no check ups that everything was ok, nothing! Just to put it in perspective, the place was dead! One other table in the room! There was remnants of another afternoon tea left on the table next to us when we arrived and was still there when we left. This is not a 4 star service!!!The afternoon tea itself was ok. One finger sandwich per person though! For the price being paid, it is not worth it! Far better teas from much better establishments! Completely spoiled my mother in law's 60th birthday treat so thank you Ardoe for that and rest assured I will not be back!!

Excellent room, clean and comfortable very quiet on the second floor, slippers a nice considerate touch. Love the shower head, and heated towel rail. We stayed on the dinner and breakfast option Saturday night the atmosphere was buzzing due to the charity event, bar staff were a bit overwhelmed and apologised for the wait, was informed the whisky notes menu was recently taken away, shame so went with a jura as i know it. All staff efficient and friendly, the dinner was superb as always,. Breakfast was just as fine, table by the fire, couldnt start sunday morning any better, came away a couple pounds heavier but so worth it.

Probably the worst afternoon tea , that we ever have had .Received a cut in half sausage roll , which was almost frozen in the middle ,after we compained recived , which i think was an old croissant with coronation chicken , which to be fair did not look too appetizing , where were an array of sandwiches , which i can only descibe as awfull . The tea pot , which we got the tea served in was rusty .The waitress whom served us , had a filthy apron , a real turn off .The decor is antiquated , for a 4 STAR HOTEL , not worthy of 2 stars at best . I was married at this hotel 30 years ago & it used to be one of the best hotels in Aberdeen, obviously the new owners Mercure , have run it into the ground , i will never set foot in this place again & advise anyone else not too either

Had a pleasant stay with my partner for Anniversary. Room was lovely and perfectly clean and although TV had poor reception. Breakfast in the morning was to a high standard and staff helpful. Had a coffee in Laura’s bar which was nice but staff seemed uninterested and preoccupied with wedding. Dishes not cleared in bar area also. Mostly a pleasant experience and would go back again.

We booked to stay here with a Wowcher on a very good deal. We had dinner on Friday night which was delicious and as had DBB which made it excellent value! Service in restaurant wasn’t amazing but we were quite pleased. My husband is coeliac and there was a lot that he could eat however staff weren’t very clear on what that was and there was no GF on menu or separate menu. It would be helpful if they could list GF on menu then you can order with a bit more confidence that it was GF. Our room was perfect. The spa area was really nice. Provided us with robes and even a wee plastic bag for your swimsuits.Would definitely stay here again.

Estábamos con un recorrido en autobús con un grupo de 24. El proceso de registro no fue un problema, y estuvimos en nuestras habitaciones en 5 minutos.

Stayed here for 5 nights & would have left early in not busy. Our room was a far from the elevator as you could get. Understaffed, poor food and small “privilege room”. Asked for a bottle of water and told it would be 5 lbs. 3 times the going rate. No obvious doorman or bellhop. Generally indifferent to their guests.

A group of us stayed at this fantastic hotel and all had a great stay. The staff were friendly and attentive without exception. The restaurant food is amazing and the spirit selection in the bar is excellent. We would all recommend this beautiful hotel

Vid middagen glömdes beställt vin bort, ingen uppmärksamhet från servicepersonalen under hela middagen trots att lokalen bara var halvfull. Även om maten är god så behöver service bli mycket bättre! Rekommenderar inte att äta här men boendet är ok!

We were so looking forward to a lovely Sunday lunch out and picked Ardoe for its lovely setting and (normally) great food, however on this visit it didn’t meet our expectations. Only able to eat in the bar which was a shame on a Sunday we assumed that they would do a Sunday dinner in the restaurant.

Well... what can I say? I love leaving reviews (NOT!) So I'm going to go all out on this one. I will start by saying I've had afternoon tea here before and most places in and around aberdeen (I married into money... for those of you wondering how I afford it).

The hotel is an old Victorian castle building with beautiful trees in garden. There is a modern extension at the back of the hotel where I have stayed before and rooms are great. Those farthest away are the best and quiet! Most rooms seem to have modern showers recently done which are fabulous. Great strong shower!

Had a lovely fisherman's stew, fresh vegetables and home baked bread at the restaurant. Service was excellent, and everything was well prepared. I don't normally favor hotel restaurants, but this was a pleasant surprise. We ate here because the hotel is a ways out of town with few options nearby. Luckily, the restaurant was fabulous!

My wife and I booked a 3 night stay at the hotel. On the day of check in the staff at the reception desk had no clue. We were going to have to change rooms after our first night. We were told that there would need to be a check to see what availability there was for the 2nd and 3rd nights, despite the fact that we had a confirmed booking for all nights. Overall, the impersonal service left us feeling cold. Whilst accepting that we stated in an older room in the original part of the hotel, the fact that there was no fridge, no information on the hotel amenities, and no information provided at checkin about the spa facilities left us feeling that customer service was clearly not a priority, and for almost £900 for three nights accommodation you expect a high standard. We didn't stay and found something better. I would not give this hotel the money for the lack of service.

A beautiful location with outstanding service is worth giving this hotel a try!

This place is a beautiful hotel set in a lovely area. The recpetion staff, bar staff and spa staff were absolutley first class and could not do enough for us.

Estuvimos en el hotel el fin de semana para un cumpleaños familiar. Decidimos almorzar antes de reunirnos con la familia, ¡pero para decir que el servicio era deficiente! Había 2 bodas en el hotel y los invitados llegaban a la hora del almuerzo y estaban en el bar. Sólo había 1 barman en servir. Preguntamos en recepción si alguien podía tomar nuestro pedido de almuerzo. Nos dijeron que habláramos con el barman. Dijimos que apenas estaba lidiando con los invitados a la boda. Finalmente conseguimos a alguien. Haga nuestro pedido y luego, cuando finalmente llegó, estuvo mal y faltaba comida.

Decepcionado con este viaje que comenzó mal, reservamos en línea y nos registramos en línea. Este no era el caso, así que estaba en línea detrás de una fiesta de bodas. Stayed in January for our anniversary and it was a shambles. Room was cold due to window we couldn't get closed (was sorted the next day) breakfast was tasteless and cold which was surprising as we were there as soon as breakfast started, condensation on window which leaked into the windowsill, ordered a pizza to our room which was tiny and not the greatest (considering we paid £20 which included the crazy £5 "delivery" price) no hairdryer in room and when asking for another one from reception was questioned if we really checked for one (trust us, we did) no number to call reception. Upon chat with manager room was refunded and offered another room for free at another time. Which takes me to now, stayed 2 nights for my 30th birthday, room has a locked door and when unlocked revealed a wall! Lock on main door appears to have been broken into at some point which didn't make us feel safe. Walls were so thin we could hear nextdoors TV and phone notifications and nextdoor on the other side giggling to all hours. Someone (I suspect staff) whenever they were outside (which was alot) felt the need to always sing and as the room was so hot we needed the windows open so we couldn't avoid the singing. On the 2nd night we had noisy neighbours in the early hours and called the hotel number and manager number on numerous occasions to no answer, still no sign of a number for reception so called "24/7 dining" in the hope for a number for reception to no answer! So ended up just having to deal with it. So if you ever need to contact the hotel through the night, good luck! TV is slow and alot of the channels say "no signal" Can't fault the service for our meal we had, service was quick, staff were lovely though the food was not to the asked expectation, beef filet was more rare to medium compared to the medium that was asked. So having tried again for a 2nd time we still state that we won't be back again. Well done Mercure for spoiling our anniversary and my birthday!

Nunca me he alojado en este hotel antes y en algún momento el Mercure es impredecible. Este fue un gran golpe. Las habitaciones parecen haber sido recientemente renovadas con duchas de lluvia y baños con azulejos. Confortables habitaciones y camas, con buenas instalaciones para preparar té y café y una mini nevera con agua de cortesía. El desayuno es tipo buffet con una buena opción. Comimos en el bar y el restaurante tanto buena relación calidad-precio pero la calidad del restaurante era muy buena! El personal es muy eficiente y amable. Volvería con mi marido por un fin de semana.

Mi esposa y yo visitamos un paquete de una noche que recibimos de nuestros Niños como regalo de Navidad: extendimos la estadía por una segunda noche.

Visitamos el hotel Ardoe House por una noche lejos de casa, el personal era muy acogedor y el alojamiento era realmente encantador. Habitación espaciosa, bien decorada y con todas las comodidades que necesita. Reservamos en el restaurante de Blair y tuvimos una comida fantástica, el bistec de Sheridan tiene que ser el mejor que he probado. La carne era fantástica y estaba preparada a la perfección. El vino para acompañar fue excelente. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo, toda la experiencia fue de primera categoría y el personal que es encantador hace que sea un poco más especial.

We stayed here for 1 night on a package for dinner and breakfast. I wish the stay had been longer. Food was absolutely lovely, staff friendly and helpful. Our room was in the main house it was clean, comfortable and warm. Would love to stay again

Had my wife’s Christmas party here. Third year in a row. Food was excellent as was the service. Bedroom very comfortable. Breakfast topped it all off very nicely. Highly recommend and will be back next year I am sure.

Although having been for coffee before - and my fiancée having worked here a long time ago - this was our first stay at the hotel.

We had a dining package which was excellent value for money and the food was lovely. Very clean. Great place to meet friends as it has a lovely large lounge and comfy sofas.

Had a lovely relaxing weekend at Ardoe House Hotel with my family,we enjoyed our pampering treatments at the spa and found the staff in the hotel very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to a return visit in the future.

The room was like an oven despite the fact the heating was off. The window mechanism was broken so the window couldn’t be kept open. The windows were frosted as the view was out to the hotel ventilation systems (probably the heat source). There were stains on the carpet. The electricity to all but one light stopped working by the morning. The shower room was in need of an upgrade with the grout in the floor tiles missing in places, the shower head kept falling to a poor angle and the water kept escaping out the tray causing damage to the paint around the door frame. Our room was in the old part of the building. Anyone that we spoke to that had a room in the new part of the building were pleased with their room.

Dirty hotel with dusty rugs, stayed in a very small room with no view. I called the reception to change the room but could not reach for 5 min, then I stopped calling. Definitely do not worth the value.

Todas. está a la altura. El comedor de Blair es muy agradable. Facil aparcamiento Tratamientos agradables y spa. Gran piscina. Que es no gustar. Parece ser un hotel bien administrado. Disco bastante ruidoso de una boda ese día. Fue muy ruidoso Verifique si hay una boda antes de reservar. El personal se las arregló bien. Buen desayuno. El vino no es demasiado caro. Bar Whisky. . . pero no estaba abierto. No whisky en el menú principal de la barra? ? Bebo limonada de wuth más barata. . . . ¡ninguna! Que extraño. Nos gustó y volveremos.

Visitamos el Mercure Ardoe House Aberdeen y no nos decepcionó, el edificio en sí mismo como absolutamente impresionante, es como algo fuera de un libro de cuento de hadas! Tuve el Aberdeen Angus asado con todos los adornos, ¡estaba delicioso! El personal es encantador y atento, volveremos de nuevo.

A first time visit to the Mercure Ardoe House Hotel. Although, close to Aberdeen city, the hotel sits in a quiet country setting. A stunning original country house, which has been extended and has over 250 rooms. The wooden furnishings in the entrance hall and throughout are fascinating. We arrived quite late and although the resturaunt was just closing food was still available in one of the bars. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Food was ordered and duly arrived and was very good. We had a room at the far far far end if the hotel. It was spacious and very comfortable. This was just an overnight stay but given what we experienced we will certainly return for a longer stay.

Very good food. Excellent staff, very helpful and charming. Good local food, cooked very well and a good selection.

Rooms recently refurbished in a contemporary style. Lounges and bar underused the hotel has a feeling of under occupancy. Staff polite but not wanting to engage. A feeling of temporary inexperience which appears not to encourage people to use facilities but just to pass through. Gym unavailable for use and spa for from building. Two concierge carts but no concierge present they never moved in 4 days no offer of help with bags and no inquiry on how stay was at check out. Staff disinterested. Star rating too high. On positive note rooms good but lacking in a luxury experience.

Set in beautiful countryside on the south side of the River Dee, only a few miles from Aberdeen. The "old" part of the hotel is the former house of a nineteenth century soap magnate, constructed from light grey Aberdeen granite.

I have stayed here many time, both for business and pleasure. The bedrooms are gorgeous, the food is wonderful and staff are really friendly. The spa offers you a chance to relax or energise. Parking is great but it is set in the countryside so if you are going into Aberdeen you would need to drive or take a taxi.

Head Chef Alan and his team hosted our team in the Ardoe kitchen, teaching us how to prepare and cook a number of dishes. Great fun was had by all and the final meal was delicious. Top marks

This was a return visit after a pleasant 2 night stay last October. This stay was even better I have to say. We stayed on a Sunday night on a DBB deal. We were in a privilege room which didn't look much different to our last room but did have a few perks like a Nespresso machine and free drinks and snacks in a mini bar. The rooms are nice enough, nothing special, but the bathrooms are lovely with great showers. We also had a bottle of wine in the room on arrival which was part of the deal. We swam twice during this stay which is a real draw for us to this hotel as the pool is nice and quiet and there is a nice sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and plenty of loungers.

From the entrance you feel like you are walking into a castle. Very good looking property!

I bought a voucher for my mum and Dad for xmas for an overnight stay including use of the spa, an evening meal and breakfast. Unfortunately my mum was very ill in the evening after they checked in and they were unable to go for the evening meal. They went home the next day feeling deflated as their mini break had been spoilt. I contacted the management and explained what happened and was delighted to be told my parents could return free of charge for the meal they had been looking forward to. A very kind gesture which means a lot to me and I am very grateful for their understanding in the matter.

We went for Christmas carvery, and it was a nice spread! The starters and puddings were also tasty. The guy singing in the background sounded amazing, thought he sounded just like a cd! The atmosphere was alright, nothing outstanding. Santa visited the children which was a nice touch. Very Overpriced for what was offered though.

I was in Ardoe house in December and my first impression when I saw it was, wow! I felt like I was going to a mini castle. People were friendly

We had a family reunion dinner in this very cosy bar as the restaurant was overbooked. The service was very friendly and helpful, the wine was fantastic, and the quality of food very good. We had baked camembert, smoked duck, steak burger and chicken burger, as well as fish and chips and caesar salad. The atmosphere was amazing and we had splendid time.

Gorgeous hotel! We really wanted to stay in a castle on our trip to Scotland and this gorgeous hotel didn't disappoint! Lovely rooms, very modern inside. Beautiful grounds. Nothing to really complain about. About 15 minutes drive into Aberdeen.

We ate at the restaurant, had breakfast here and had bar snacks.

Had very satisfying evening with group of friends. The building is beautiful and good service. Loved the bagpipe player.

From check in to check out our stay was one of relaxed top notch service and care. The room was spacious and well decorated, clean and fresh with a large bathroom. The king size bed is a must and the views were amazing. This property is set in a rural setting on 30 acres of easily explored grounds. Yet it is just 15 minutes by car into the heart of Aberdeen City. The staff was amazing and friendly we had supper most nights in the bar area because of the relaxed mood and simpler menu.

We stayed at this hotel for four days and definitely did not feel this was a special stay. The quality of the catering was shockingly poor for a 4 star hotel and we had to send food back to the kitchen. The grounds between the external swimming pool and main building are not maintained properly and the rooms lack air con or decent mattresses. On the plus side the staff are very polite and aim to please.

There is a wonderful spa and exercise room with this hotel although we did not take advantage of it. The facilities would make for a great stay.

Grande chambre dans le bâtiment ancien. Le bâtiment est à rafraîchir (peinture qui s'écaille tâches sur le sol, toile de verre qui gondole, spa). Serviettes avec des tâches. Spa compris dans le prix de la chambre (piscine, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi) bien mais sans plus : impression de piscine publique, jets d'eau froide dans le jacuzzi, finition à reprendre). L'hôtel veilli et il y a un manque d'entretien. Dommage. Par contre petit-déjeuner très bien, situation aussi et prix honnête aprestube promotion.

We chose to stay here for 1 night on a dinner bed and breakfast deal. The room was fine with a large comfortable bed and good pillows. Our dinner was so disappointing. My fish cake starter had tomato ketchup smeared on the plate as decoration! My husband ordered the steak ,but they didn't have any left!!!! We both had duck. This also came with tomato ketchup smeared on the plate for decoration!! Unbelievable!! The duck was tasty but over cooked which I can forgive, but I can't forgive the use of cheap - or any - tomato ketchup , spread all over my plate.Wine prices quite high - £8 for a small prosecco and £10 for a 250 ml wine.I had just fallen asleep when I was rudely awakened by some shouting female outside my window on her phone. Reception sorted this problem , but it ruined my nights sleep.Breakfast was ok, but it was a no frills affair. The tub of ketchup was there for us to help ourselves but we passed on that! Jam etc in bulk - no little jars like the last time we stayed in Ardoe House. The budget cuts are obvious.

Stayed here two nights in July 2017 having received a buyagift.com voucher as a gift. Booked and paid for an upgraded room in advance, and I'm glad we did. The room was fantastic, massive bed, complimentary mini bar, roll top bath, double shower, huge TV and an additional Nespresso machine (on top of tea & coffee facilities as standard). The staff were very friendly and helpful, the house cleaning team very efficient. Not a single complaint could be made - which is unusual for me.The location and grounds are a great addition to this stunning hotel, its quiet and peaceful without being boring. The spa facilities on site are also very good. I had a few small niggles, but it certainly didn't take away from the overall fantastic stay I had here with my wife, and I would happily return here to what has been my best hotel experience by far.All 4 pillows in our room were a bit battered and not very supportive. Breakfast meats needed to be cooked a bit longer - whilst I am sure they were all safely cooked the bacon and sausage were not appealing to a lot of people because they looked practically raw.Black pudding was over-cooked and dry, needs frying not baking.

Stayed 2 nights B&B with my wife. The hotel is well designed and well maintained. The bedroom we were allocated was first rate - and with an enormous TV.We enjoyed a good nights rest both nights on the enormous bed. Sound insulation appears to be good.Breakfasts were first rate - with a good selection and cooked to perfection.Staff - particularly the young lady that showed us to our table at breakfast both mornings - were well trained, cheerful, and helpful.All-in-all, a most enjoyable stay.

My friends and I came here for dinner and a few drinks. The service and staff were excellent, as was the food. The interior and the grounds were so beautiful, I had an amazing day and I would highly recommend it to anyone that visits Aberdeen.

Was overall very good. Some minor issues with the overall stay but everything considered its an excellent castle hotel and if you're looking for something romantic, good value for money and on the classier side this is the place to stay.

arrives pour 2 nuits ! la chambre 1 etait surchauffee 30 degres impossible de baisser le chauffage ! tout est un peu vetuste ! odeur de vieux et moisi !! mercure est pourtant une grande chaine hoteliere avec des moyens financiers pour renover un peu personnel s'en foutant un peu ...voyant 2 personnes d'un certain age monter avec 2 grosses valises pas une aide !!! vraiment deçue le repas du soir tres moyen !!!

The Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa a 19th century mansion house set in 30 acres of quiet Aberdeenshire countryside with 120 bedrooms. Ardoe House is 3 miles outside the city and the perfect for a holiday or business venue, you can pamper yourself at Ardoe Spa and indoor heated pool, a fitness room. The room i stayed in was very warm and luxurious. The staff were very polite and helpful. The food and service was excellent and to high standards. I really enjoyed my stay at this wonderful mansion.

On arrival we asked if we wanted to upgrade to a priveldge room which we duly did . Lovely room , big bed , lovely shower although door did not shut properly.No pods for coffee , 3 soft drinks between 2 and much to my husbands disgust only one biscuit . Porter found us pods for nespresso but thy were not topped up again the following day and we had to ask again .Not offered a paper- had to ask . Cobwebs at high level in our room plus along the link corridor to the pool (many not isolated-plants growing in the window ) We opted ineat in the bar area on the first night . £12 for a frozen pizza with a little added tomato to masked it look the real deal ~ a well known German supermarket brand I think . Frozen fish and chips £16 - the fish certainly wasn't off the boat that morning , more probably bottom of the freezer for last 6 months,Absolutely outrageous and insulting . 2nd night we decided against the restraurant and opted for a meal in town . ( delicious and half the price ).Saturday morning breakfast much better than Friday as bigger number of guests . Sauces were not the real macoy which was disappointing . Nice staff but just a little more care and attention to detail could be beneficial . Bar menu requires a serious overall .

Very comfortable rooms, beautifully decorated newly renovated bathrooms. Modern clean and spacious bathrooms. Fantastic shower. Lovely throws on the bed. Great selection at breakfast although very warm from the log fire.

We used to visit the hotel frequently to use the hotel , restaurant and spa. With this in mind we decided to pop in for lunchin the bar area. Wow - very different to what it used to be . Very limited menu , lots of the good tasty bits and pieces have been removed. Food took a while to come to us and was ok, nothing special , expensive for what you get. The big disappointment was the service , the lass serving was very uninterested and everything seemed to take an age yet we were the only customers present. We asked for sauce , salt, cutlery and a glass of water and after 10 mins it never arrived. We had to go and find it ourselves, disappointing as this place was once really good. We will stY again in the hotel soon And see what's what.

Stayed for an overnight as a platinum Accor cardholder. Had just returned from using other Accor hotels & was so disappointed with the welcome at this hotel.Check in was dire. No mention of the room being allocated (found out it was a privilege room as it had a mini bar in it), the free drinks coupons were tucked into the room card but no mention. Lady was very abrupt.Room was amazing, beautifully refurbed & massive with a superb big bathroom. Nice touches and free mini bar soft drinks and snacks were welcome. Room service burger was very tasty & quickly delivered. Wine in bar was expensive & bar area wasn't that inviting.On check out I struggled to get my 25% f&b discount and had to check out without it being resolved. Still never got the full discount. Not impressed at all.Room was a 5/5, rest of experience was a 2/5.

I stayed here just for one night, I've stayed here a few times before but have to say this time the food was very disappointing. I ate in the bar this time and had fish and chips, I had this in my last stay too, but it was very cheery grey fish and very dry chips, breakfast was over cooked and cool - even the coffee! What a shame to see this lovely hotel letting itself down!

Firstly we loved the display and my grandchildren had a ball. Apart from my eldest grand daughter who was hunting for a gold ticket! There were many children there and only 5 tickets to find so a bit disappointing there weren't many more.Secondly, poor starter selection as it was all fish and cold meat. No other options! The soup tasted as if a tin of tomato puree had been heated up, it was awful. We were told that someone would let us know once we had finished our starters to go for our dinner but after a considerable time, I had to ask a member of staff if it was okay for us to get our lunch, as to be fair, there were 50 tables and we didn't want to push in! Very poor quality of turkey, roast potatoes were hard, no skirlie, veg very limited. Gammon very salty! Overall not very good for £75 an adult.The desserts were more catered for the children with hardly any selection of desserts for adults. I must admit the sticky toffee pudding, what I could get, was delicious but by the time we all went for our dessert, hardly any left!We did find that it was a very disorganised experience. Waitress didn't understand our drinks order, I asked for white wine with soda and she asked was that a bottle of wine!! Drinks were very expensive and considering the price we paid for our meal, complimentary drinks would have been welcomed. We were not advised until we were in main hotel that we were to be in the ballroom which was not signposted to show where to go! Car park needs more signposts as turned right into a dead end and other cars followed me! If you haven't visited the Ardoe before then it is very confusing! This is our first and last visit for Christmas Lunch as not good value for money.

Booked the very reasonable, Privilege room, evening meal, breakfast & spa treatments. Spa was good. Nice pool, steam room & sauna. Treatments loved by one of us, brutal by the other. These girls take no prisoners? Evening meal was nice enough but mixed with loud children lay down on restaraunt floor and bored! Don't plan for quiet & romantic......lego diggers may be on the next table:)Lots of staff being quite inefficient and bar staff slating customers in front of us. Tutt tutt. However, maitre d' (French guy, 40's) was the epitome of professionalism & courteousness. Be aware, rooms can be miles from reception. If you've got mobility problems, ensure you ask for a room close to reception & restaurants. Needs a cosier bar area in keeping with beauty of the rest of hotel , soapies room next to the bar is characterless!

I had stayed at the hotel in October for my birthday treat with a couple of friends. We had booked treatments which had to be cancelled due to staff sickness so rearranged to have them in November. We booked for afternoon tea as the food in the hotel at dinner had been excellent as had the staff. However, I have to say I was extremely disappointed not only with the service but the quality of the afternoon tea which was offered. My expectations were high due to the standard of the previous food whilst staying at the hotel but would most definitely not recommend afternoon tea at the hotel. Cakes were dry and tasteless and you had to search for staff when they were required. Got the distinct impression they didn't want you there. There are far better afternoon teas in Aberdeen.

We stayed at the Ardoe for our wedding anniversary. We got married here a few years ago and wanted to come back.We had the most lovely time. The bedrooms have been refurbished since we were last here. We stayed in a privilege room and it was so nice, spacious and modern with a Nespresso machine, robes etc. The hotel left us chocolates and a card on our arrival which was a nice little surprise.We ate in the Blairs restaurant and WOW, I've not had a meal that delicious in a long time. I can highly recommend the Salmon Teriyaki it was amazing!! After our meal one of the waiters brought over a plate of berries and chocolates with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate. What a lovely touch. Breakfast next morning was also very good and the service was brilliant.Thank you to everyone at Ardoe for making our stay so great. We have lovely memories from our wedding here and now for our anniversary too! See you next year!!!

Had a two night stay here our room. was lovely so clean and comfortable spacious. But bar drinks and food pricey which spoilt it for me as I enjoy a nice meal when I'm away from home .I looked forward to my breakfast but it was buffet and tepid

Quite pricey, but you pay for what you get. Lovely food and attentive staff, also a very nice atmosphere.

Disappointing meal and service. For a starter I ordered Prawn Cocktail and was horrified to find it contained Cumin I am allergic. I informed the waitress and was told I had not told her about my special food requirements. Cumin in a prawn cocktail come on never before in my experience. Food was alright but delivered in a mixture of wire baskets and boxes felt like Great British Menu. My wife being quite small had difficulty eating out of a box all rather pointless - let the quality of the food do the talking.

Excellent hotel. Room was clean with enormous bed that was very comfy. Shower and other facilities in room were exceptional. Lots of information in the room about Aberdeen and surrounding area, hotel facilities and the spa facilities and how to book. All the staff from reception, bar, restaurant and cleaners were polite and friendly and always appeared to have a smile and were eager to please. Plenty of variety for breakfast and attentive staff ensuring coffee and tea were replenished. Enjoyed leisurely breakfast and not feel we had to hurry. Evening meal was exceptional with lots of choice for starters, main meals and desserts, served in a professional but friendly manner and the food was well presented and absolutely delicious. Service was brilliant.Lovely walks around the grounds, spa facilities and swimming pool were very good. Hotel just outside Aberdeen but taxi services are quick and readily available to take you into the centre of Aberdeen at a reasonable cost so no need to attempt to drive around the one way system.We had a lovely relaxing, enjoyable time, just wish we could have stayed longer and maybe had afternoon tea which sounded absolutely delicious. Loved hearing about the history of the hotel and the ghost although did not see one.Would rate the hotel 5/5.Would rate the Spa where I had a pedicure and my husband had a back and shoulder massage 3/5 as the adverts in the brochure in the hotel room did not match the treatment received and it was not made clear what treatment was being given and the cost. Had wanted a full foot treatment but received a fast track pedicure which was good but not what I had been expecting when asked for a pedicure. My husband enjoyed his massage and would give it a 5/5. Hotel receptionist booked our treatments for us and we were given a choice of times.Atmosphere within the Spa could be improved with more appropriate music and maybe some relaxing scents from oil burners. We were offered tea or coffee to drink.

Just had to share our disappointing visit to the Ardoe House last night. Used to go there a few years ago where you could get a nice quiet table in the Blairs restaurant with great food and attentive staff. Now it is very busy, staff not really with it or too busy to care and there just wasn't the same sort of attention given. We were given a table right at the door which when the door was open was very drafty, noisy cause there was a band playing in one of the function rooms and by the end of the evening it was getting annoying because every time someone came in or went out you were hoping that they would remember to shut it and when one of the staff went out and didn't shut the door that was the last straw. Nobody said they would move us and then at the end of the evening, when paying the bill, our waiter said "yeah I would have moved you as it does get quite drafty here" so they knew a table should not have been put there!!! Another cover, more money and that is all that matters these days isn't it!! Mercure hotels are definitely off my list of places to go.

were very disappointed by Ardoe house after we paid it a visit for afternoon tea. The staff was not very well informed about the tea packages and one the tea and food arrived it went further downhill. The tea was pretty much just Twinnings bags and the food did not taste very well at all. To be honest we were also not very enchanted by the decor. Ardoe tries to pull off a modern style in combination with old charm, but fails miserably at it.

Went to a wedding at this hotel. Lovely place, lovely meal. Would recommend for weddings or just a weekend away
