The Bieldside in Aberdeen City

The food is lovely but was totally ruined by the screaming of local football fans, the flatscreen TV in my face and then the crazy loud music. Considering its not a cheap pub, I really think the atmosphere is all wrong

Was taken in here today by my good friend Pete and his trusty sidekick Bob the Jack Russel. First of all it’s good to see some pubs sticking by tradition and allowing well behaved dogs in the pub. I was in Scotland so of course I sampled the haggis balls. Cooked to perfection. Had the mince, neaps and tatties to go with it. My eyes were bigger than my belly. Fantastic food. Reasonable prices. Great staff and a lovely environment to enjoy a bite and a drink. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

Was pleasantly surprised to see the place had been refurbished since I visited over four years ago. Lovely decor, atmosphere and staff. Had a lovely lunch and will return on our next visit to the area next year.

Went for lunch last Saturday as family of 5. Was a bit unsure due to recent reviews but we had a very good meal and overall experience. I’ve not been recently and really liked the new bar decor and layout. Far brighter and more modern than before. Good cocktails before meal and a nice atmosphere. Meal in restaurant was very good - 4 out of 5 of us had the special sea bass fish and it was very good. Desserts were good. Service was friendly. I didn’t pay so can’t comment fully on value for money but the cost of the special main course seemed about right. We will definitely be back

Nice busy place food was ok but nothing to shout about. we had a Burger disappointing menu just like every other Gastro Pub!

First visit in a few years and on a cold January day it felt just as cold inside with all doors including fire doors wedged open. The service was perfect but sadly the food was way below the standards I knew before. Who ever the chef is loves his cooking oil.

Awesome place for a quick lunch or family dinner

Took our family for sunday dinner.Four chicken dinners had to be taken back as couldn't get fork or knives through the chicken .Roast beef was lvly but four out of six adults meals isn't good enough .They were very apologetic didn't have to pay for the chicken meals but put me off going back I'm afraid .

waited an hour and never got our order. had to leave without eating. waiter didn’t seem to care.

I phoned at short notice on a Saturday evening and was given a table in the bar. However, the table was right beside the busy bar and we were constantly being jostled by people. Then our order was forgotten! After an hour waiting I asked about the order and was told there had been a mistake but our food would be only another 10-15 minutes but we wouldn’t have to pay. It still hadn’t arrived after another 25 minutes so we left. Saturday is obviously a busy evening but the problem was due to poor waiting staff and the greed of trying to fit us in when the place was full. I can see there are lots of good reviews and I’ve been with a large group on a Monday evening and it was fine so perhaps we were unlucky on this occasion.

Lovely cranachan chicken, first time tried it, very nice, good service and fair price, we'll worth a visit.

Arrived half an hour early for our booking but staff quite happy to seat us, or offered to keep seats if we wanted a drink at the bar. Pleasant staff, efficient, organised and friendly. Good range of food on the not over fussy menu, reasonable priced. Pleasant ambiance in restaurant/bar mixed areas.. We ordered two of the 'larger' burgers options and were certainly not disappointed. Really sizeable portions and most importantly very tasty, as were the sides and garnishes. Dog friendly, and I mean friendly not just tolerant like some places. Bowl of water offered and lots of pats and scratches from staff and patrons alike. Unfortunately, no room left for dessert from the superb choices on menu so settled for a Calypso coffee instead. Although a busy Thursday night, we at no point felt cramped or rushed to clear the table. Outside terrace seating is available weather permitting. We believe the Bieldside has recently(?) changed hands and with what we observed and experienced their future is assured if they keep up present standards of staff, food and ambiance.

All I can say is save your money and go elsewhere. I had the steak pie which I expected to be full of flavour and the meat melt in your mouth. The bits of meat were so rubbery I couldn’t get my knife and fork through them and they still had some rubbery veins running through them as well. The bits of meat that were in the pie were so big that you would’ve had to chop them up to get them into your mouth, but that was an impossible task. The roast potatoes that came with it had a taste of Potatoes that had been heated, heated and reheated again when the manager (well I presume he was the manager) asked how was my food was I told him and although he was very polite and said I’m sorry to hear that no money was taken off the bill no further acknowledgement we just paid and left. It was a terrible experience! They just didn’t seem interested, but they should be because reviews can make or break a place! There is no ambience & no atmosphere!

Booked table online for 5pm yesterday. Both booking and confirmation received. Turned up to be told we had to vacate our table at 7pm. Challenged this as we intended to have 3 courses and good catchup with friends that had travelled a good distance for an enjoyable evening. Response was 1) we’ve always done this - which I responded this is our first visit so how would we know this 2) 2 hours is long enough to eat 3 courses and coffee - would not be enjoyable 3) we can move your group to another table at 7pm - accepted this decided to have one course and waited 20 at end of food to be moved to another table. Called the guy over to ask where are we moving to, to be told oh didn’t know you still wanted a table!! Also very aware no-one had arrived to take our first table. Really disappointed

Great atmosphere with excellent service and very tasty food. I would highly recommend the Bedside Inn. Steak Pie, Chicken Burger, Haddock Mornay, Fish and Chips.

Popped in for lunch.Hadn't booked but we were made feel welcome and given a nice table by the window.Food was really nice and staff friendly and efficient.One wee thing I don't think the plastic hanging baskets do anything for the overall appearance of the room.They look in my opinion a bit tacky and out of keeping with the feel of the place .On the table a wee bit long lasting fresh foliage would be more upmarket than the faux eucalyptus.Obviously a personal opinion ! Some people may love them.We certainly enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning soon.😊

Good vibe, friendly staff, attentive and food was really good, wasn't long waiting. Also, very accommodating when turning up without a reservation and were able to fit us in with no fuss. Would highly recommend The Bedside Inn to friends, family and others 👍

Was using the function room for an event and Becca was super helpful, incredibly accommodating and cheery. She was there when we set up and until we left and had a great amount of patience with our large party. Thank you Becca! The venue was lovely and perfect for our event.

Had Sunday roast -was very good. Had to try sticky toffee pudding- was the best I've had since Nana's...

A while since we visited. Very attractive decor and great balcony for dining in the current warm sunny weather. Great welcome, menu and service. Food, drink fine, prices competitive. Must return soon...

We decided to pop in off the cuff at the weekend. Phoned ahead for a table of 4 , no issue. The place is cracking inside with cracking views, parking. The staff were absolute fantastic. One young lady took additional time to promote and tell us a bit about the place. The food was absolutely fantastic. Great choice of home made grub. Give it a crack it’s worth it

Dined here last night with another couple. Have previously dined here on many occasions over many years but not for a while. The 1st thing that struck us all were the awful, cheap looking hanging baskets suspended about the tables. They hung low enough to catch your head if you’re tall and how unhygienic. Over time they will be full of dust and dead insects- ugh! The food was standard pub fare, burgers, curry, fish and chips, with a catch of the day. This was £20.50 for chilli coated salmon, baby potatoes and veggies. That is not a pub price. I chose the cod mornay which was very tasty, 2 nice burgers and a plate of bangers and mash with 3 drinks as I was driving, the bill came to £90, with 4 coffees. Rather an expensive mid week catch up with friends. The Bieldside Inn have the monopoly in the area as there are very few choices outside the city centre to eat. I do hope they don’t price themselves out of the market, in an attempt to be a fine dining restaurant, when they are actually the local pub, serving bar food. It will be a while before I return at those prices and standard of food.

Good food, nice upmarket feel without being too much, good atmosphere and very nice staff, highly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight, our waitress Emily was most attentive and patient, great food and the red organic wine was remarkably good value. Hopefully be back soon.

First time we have visited the Bielside and it won't be the last. Great views , brilliant food and the service was spot on. Varied menu and prices were very competitive.

Lunch was good - but the whole place was deserted. No vibes at all. Service was good and clean environment. Decor poor !!!!! What’s with the row of hanging baskets like a parade ground - Awful and tacky

Welcomed at the entrance very politely, managed to get a table as a walk-in. I'm sure this was luck as they are busy even during off-season. Ordered breaded haggis bon-bons with whisky sauce, and the highlander burger. The burger was fantastic, with properly seasoned, hand-made fresh patty. The combination with haggis was a great idea! However, the real highlight was the haggis bon-bons with whisky sauce - worth ordering regardless of what you 'think' you like. These bon-bons are a lightly crisped, savoury and non-stodgy introduction to haggis. The quality to price ratio is incredible. Needless to say with this quality of food, service was quick, polite and professional. The restaurant and bar area were clean and tidy - not a sticky table or spill stain in sight! The car park was well signed, with plenty of free spaces, and well lit. There is a street-level front access door for disabled guests too. As a regular business visitor to Aberdeen, I will be back regularly!

Food absolutely not goot at all. Both my daughter and myself very disapointed. Mine was catch of the day, salmon with a honey glaze surely from a jar, served with boiled rice and boiled broccoli with no sauce at all, straight from the water to the plate. No effort. The manager said that it's pub food and not fine dining what they offer. Does it mean that pub food has to be that bad? Not sure. Also I paid £20.50 for that dish, not a pub price. He also said that here in Aberdeen customers enjoy it. Really? Why underestimate so much the Scottish taste? The problem is different. The cook, and I feel sorry for him/her, doesn't know how to cook. Simple like that.

I recently dined here with family and was very disappointed. I ordered their red pepper risotto, expecting a burst of flavor, but instead, it was a bland concoction that seemed like someone had simply chucked in some red pepper as an afterthought. The dish lacked any taste, leaving me wondering if they forgot to season it altogether. To make matters worse, when this was brought up to the manager, they were incredibly arrogant and dismissive, showing a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction. Save your money and skip this place unless you enjoy bland food and dealing with rude management.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Loved it.

Two visits this month for lunch. Both times the attention of the staff and quality of the food was excellent. Meals are well portioned with quality produce. A wide choice on the menu with starters for sharing, lite bites and main meals. If you can manage a choice of desserts. Also from the board a Soup of the Day, Catch of the Day fish and a dessert. Full bar available for drinks. They are redecorating at the moment but still plenty of space to eat and have a drink.

Food has definitely improved since new owners , I had haddock mourney, best I've had , husband had steak pie , he couldn't finish it so full of tender meat 😁 service was a bit on and off but could see they were trying there best at a busy time . Barman who said he was making his first expresso martini since starting was lovely and great cocktail X bit pricey but worth it x

It's really nice place to dine out. A bit busy at night so you'd better make a reservation before you go. Easy to make a reservation online. Food were mostly amazing. Reasonable price too.

Visited early evening for the Sunday roast, it was so good, too much food. Beautifully presented, beef is served either pink or well done, compliments to the chef. Our waiter, Liam was a breath of fresh air, so friendly and nothing was a bother, he was very attentive. What a great atmosphere between the restaurant and bar with a mix of locals, families and dogs (in the bar), a very relaxed atmosphere, a great way to end the weekend.

Food was tasty, nicely decorated for Christmas but the service was disappointing and certainly not customer focussed. Was there for dinner and catch up with friends. When we finished our meal and wanted to stay for drinks as it advertised as open until 11pm. However, we were pretty much made to feel like we were in the way of them closing from about 9.30 because we were the only folk left in the restaurant. They pretty much said they were closing early as it was quiet! They did serve us another couple of drinks reluctantly as it was apparent they wanted us to leave by cleaning around us, turning off lights and music and we were the told to settle up and leave at 1030. Not what I would expect when the published opening hours are later. Won’t be rushing back if at all.

We had our Xmas lunch / night with a group of friends and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. I didn’t get the name of our female waiters but they were great. They kept the drinks flowing and were very attentive. Couldn’t fault them at all. The food was also superb. After our lunch we went through to the bar area and despite it being very busy there were lots of staff on behind the bar to deal with it. We had a great time and will be back. I recently celebrated my uncle's 50th birthday at The Bieldside Inn, and while the restaurant offered a festive atmosphere and high-quality food, the overall experience was tainted by some significant service issues. The ambiance of the restaurant was really nice with festive decorations adding to the celebratory mood. Unfortunately, the service was a let-down from the beginning. Originally booked for 14 people, we had to modify the reservation due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite my grandparents visiting the restaurant in the morning to make the necessary changes and drop off decorations and a birthday cake, the seating arrangement upon our arrival was not up to par. We were initially seated at a table set for eight, not accommodating our revised reservation for 10. After voicing our concern, we were asked to wait in the bar area. The service hiccup continued when, as we started ordering drinks, we were informed that our newly set table was ready, and we had to move back to the restaurant immediately. This unexpected interruption prevented us from enjoying our drinks and disrupted the flow of our evening. Once seated and the meal was underway, the food itself was of high quality, and the service picked up in terms of speed. However, the celebration took a turn when we were informed that the table was needed back in 40 minutes, a detail not communicated during the original booking. A complimentary bottle of wine was offered, which, considering our party of 10, felt insufficient. The move to the bar area was suggested, but it would have been impractical for our group. Surprisingly, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the mix-up from the manager, who allegedly provided the complimentary wine. We were left in a small corner of the bar and felt neglected. While the restaurant's ambiance and food quality suggested a higher-end establishment, the subpar service and lack of apology for the booking mix-up left us disappointed. The rushed conclusion of our evening robbed us of the opportunity to fully enjoy the setting and celebrate my uncle's milestone birthday. It's regrettable that such service issues spoiled the experience overall.

Atmosphere in my opinion is spoilt by too many big screens on constantly even when there's no match on and in my opinion this is a big distraction when your there to socialize. The bar area is a huge square and this makes it feel somewhat cramped in the seating area of the bar. Staff are friendly but on quite a few occasions seemingly ignore you when your waiting to be served at the bar even when not serving anyone else. Food is over priced. Sorry not the best review but then I prefer a cosy atmospheric pub and I feel this is a missed opportunity for the Bieldside Inn as in my opinion its been too modernised like so many other pubs in the area losing its historical atmosphere and quality.

Lovely place to dine although personally I didn't think there were enough vegetarian options although the manager who asked how our meal was disagreed. He also advised they didn't get a lot of vegetarians. I've been to many restaurants in Aberdeen who provide a good selection of vegetarian food.

Birthday celebrations with family in the private suite. Staff all very attentive, accommodated us all, great service and with smiles. Food was amazing but the portion sizes were huge I felt a lot of waste but hats off to the kitchen staff everything was tasty and well executed. Will definitely return. Shame no small plates offered as I think majority of all 16 of us would have opted for smaller portions. Great choice of menu also. Thank you to The Bielder staff.

Easy parking, great staff, clean, very good food

First time eating at Bieldside Inn yesterday. I thought the service was very good, I had the Black Pudding Onion Bhajis which were fantastic and then the Bieldside Beast Burger again fantastic. The atmosphere was good quite a busy restaurant and the bar area looked busy as well. Would recommend eating here as you do get a good meal for the price you are paying.

Absolutely delicious meal, we didn’t have a booking but we were seated at a great table. We had two starters and two mains. All staff were very attentive. Food arrived quickly and was amazing. Would recommend! We were just passing through Aberdeen and decided to pop in

Return visit after 20 years or so missing from the space. Suitably impressed overall , booked online at the last min , which was hassle free , was great to have a menu without 10 pages , yet it contained everything you could ask for with a separate kids menu. Special board also available. Great ambience and subtle music at the correct volume. Parking at the rear and easy access. Will be back for sure. Staff attendance could have been better, but we were not in a hurry, so it did not trouble us too much.

It was my first visit to the Bieldside Inn, and the food was delicious. Dog friendly bar, parking at the back. Definitely be going back. Well worth the money.

The Bieldside had always been a bit hit or miss and average at best at times, but the restaurant is under new ownership since our last visit, and you can really tell! It’s like a completely different place. The staff are friendly, polite and attentive, the service was prompt and the restaurant just seemed to be very well run. The food was fantastic, I had the beef pie (that they warn you will take an extra 20 mins, but it’s worth the wait) and it was by far the best pie I’ve ever had. The homemade coleslaw was infused with paprika, which really worked and was delicious. The food and service exceeded expectations, this was an excellent experience and I’m looking forward to re visiting.

Lovely experience,terrible food. I got the lentil soup which had wayyyy to much salt my sister got the bangers and mash both the mash and sausages had wayyy to much pepper neither of us could eat it

Somewhat disappointed by the Bieldside. Nice atmosphere but distinctively average food and not worth the premium prices.

Very disappointed. Drinks ordered before main course arrived didn’t arrive, despite prompting, until main course was finished. One plate had to be returned for reheating as was not hot. Salad main course was less than ideal as no dressing until staff prompted. Then to cap it all desert took 40 mins to arrive. Not coming back!

One of the best meals I have had in Aberdeen. I can recommend, Haddock cooked in beer with skinny chips, loose cannon IPA, sticky toffee for desert and a cappuccino for just over £30. Ecellent service and food.

Bieldside Inn has a car park at the back of the building. The food menu has a good selection. The quality of the food was excellent. Friendly staff.

Service was quick. Staff we extremely friendly and helpful.

Food was stand out well cooked and presented, friendly helpful service and a crisp pint in lovely surroundings if you are in the area it is well worth popping in.

We enjoyed an exceptional lunch with excellent service highly recommend.
