Came in for some lunch after my brothers graduation and I can’t fault the place. Food and service were great and it’s a lovely little joint if you fancy some proper Italian food. Highly recommend :D

We’ve come back here after having our second date here 2 years ago. Just like then, everything, from food to service to atmosphere was just 10/10. I really couldn’t give enough praise to the staff who were just so accommodating, friendly and smiley all the time. The food easily compares to that in Italy. So flavourful and the portions are beyond generous. You can book a table ahead of time online which is very convenient. Also you always know a good Italian spot when the Italians eat there!

A good experience. Abundant dishes. They use olive oil. And the treatment is very pleasant. We tried cannelloni. Bolognese noodles and Venetian macaroni. All very good.

This spot is excellent. We had the privilege of being served by Dina and Devita, who were so kind. We was in a rush as we had somewhere we needed to go, and they were so helpful in telling us approximately how long it would take for the food to be ready, which was not long at all. The pasta was gorgeous, and a generous portion size. Whilst eating, we was asking whether everything was okay and if there was anything that we needed, which was very much appreciated. Absolutely recommend!

A big thank you to Jay and the team at Merchant of Venice, Loseby Lane restaurant. The garden room was perfect for a bridal shower party with music. We came on a Tuesday evening for a colleagues leaving meal and the they had a 'pasta night' offer. The food was tasty but was expecting better. The lady serving our table may have been new as she seemed a little forgetful. A pleasant evening however.

My mum, dad, brother and I had a three-course lunch here before going a Leicester football match and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was friendly and authentic, and the service was excellent. We weren’t intending to have three courses but everything was so nice we ended up staying longer than planned.

We had a very pleasant meal here. The atmosphere was excellent, especially the live music. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough to help, particularly Grace. The quality of food was excellent considering the price. We went here as a date night and this would be an ideal venue for such an occasion

Had an evening meal with friends before a show at the Y theatre and had a great meal there. The service was fantastic by Grace and Dona and they went out of their way to ensure we had a lovely meal. Friendly and personable and I’d say the food was great value!! I would definitely recommend a visit here! Anytime of day as the coffee and cakes are delicious too!

Exquisite early evening meal with my daughter before De-montfort Hall show. What a lovely experience, our choice of meal was taken by the lovely Grace. We had the full monty, starter, main and managed a fabulous dessert. Really pleasant atmosphere with nice background music and Italian songs which gave us a nice continental feel. This was my second visit and I'm sure there will be more. I can 100% recommend this establishment.

Went for dinner with mum. The interior is charming and different. Beautifully lit and inviting. Patricia and her staff were delightful and very friendly. We had the anipasti misti for a starter and it was truly delicious. We then had garlic mushrooms and an avocado salad with a bottle of white. Clearly the chef knows his trade. All the ingredients were super fresh and very good quality. Flavours were rustic and subtle. There's a decent Italian wine list and they even have limoncello ! There was a musician playing along with the background music giving the place a stylish and relaxed jazzy New York vibe. We'll definitely go again.

Dona and Nishara were so friendly, the service was great. The hot chocolate we had was having a good standard. The ambience was peaceful to have a team meeting.

Really cosy cafe and restaurant, with friendly service (managed even with our large table) and delicious food for dinner (good portion sizes and good value for money)

Had a great experience here to celebrate a graduation, after being let down by another restaurant. Patricia in particular was so lovely and helpful, finding a place for us with a few minutes notice. She couldn't have been more accommodating throughout and even celebrated with us at the end with a limoncello shot. Looking forward to trying breakfast at this location too. Great decor and atmosphere, really nice evening out.

Lovely little venue, staff were great and loved the food, my only criticism would be that there weren't many mushrooms in the garlic mushrooms and it was a little more like soup, but still nice.

Tasty breakfast and great coffee! The place feels like an oasis away from the busy street since despite the bustle of the street there is a quiet calm atmosphere inside the café.

Just unlucky, as a Portuguese person I know the coffee expresso must be hot and come almost cold .

It was ok. Had a full English breakfast. It was average. The sausages were horrible (obviously cheap). Price was a bit expensive. Service was good. Swing chairs are a gimmick not comfortable to eat at.

I have been to Leicester quite a few times and never realised how beautiful this place is. Right in the heart of the city, this is a place you should never miss out on. The food tastes like luxury and the service is great. I’m very impressed !

Such a wonderful meal catching up with a friend as we are in Leicester this weekend to watch a show at the theatre. The server Patricia was super helpful on allowing us to feel at home, in this cosy Italian setting. Never once were we rushed. The drinks were lovely as were the courses. My friend has the caneloni I had the sea bass. Very good start to a weekend in Leicesterm recommend !

Good coffee, great setting, and the food is some of the best that you'll find in Leicester! Unlike the franchised and commercialised competition, the Merchant of Venice has captured the essence of what a homely, comfy atmosphere can be. If you're looking for good food, good music, and the gentle touch of care, then I can only recommend The Merchant of Venice!

This is a great little place with a quirky style. Food was great and servicecwas so good I didn't mind young waitress throwing parmesan all over me.

Been a number of times, last few times food as been served luke warm, had to be returned. Chicken dish was over cooked being dry and didn’t come as the dish I ordered Had to ask for side plates with starters, no check back after food served to see if all was ok! Disappointed overall, time to try other places in the city that have been recommended

We had avocado, toast and poached egg and in mains we had Lamb Chops and the Lasagne which is highly recommend . It’s the best we have ever had. Staff are lovely and so attentive. Will be coming back soon.

Waited an hour for food to be served and cutleries were still not readily on table. Poor management, very inattentive service. Food is nice, so a good choice for date night as you don’t get bothered by waitress😂.

Great food and lovely place, but some inattentive service at times left us waiting to order drinks and food for quite a while. We had to find someone in the end which was a shame. Food was absolutely beautiful as was the wine. I'd definitely return - but would hope someone would take our order a bit quicker next time as we were almost late for bowling!

Went in for a coffee before catching a train. Good coffee but very slow service.

Tried to book a table on line. Received an email acknowledgement saying they had received my request. 24 hrs later nothing received - no confirmation of booking, no 'sorry we are fully booked' message. Very poor communication. AVOID
