Menu looks good, reviews look good.I visited around 11.30 am on Wednesday 15th January after reading the menu outside. The entrance to the Restaurant is through the Fish n Chip shop.It wasn't busy, perhaps half a dozen people sitting.It wasn't clear wether I should order in the Chip shop or take a seat.There appeared to be three staff on duty but none of them acknowledged my presence,so I stood awhile feeling awkward before approaching the counter, where I was ignored by all three staff who were having a conversation with their back to me,so once again I went to the chip shop where everyone was busy cooking.Once again I waited in the restaurant but no-one engaged,so I left and headed for Wetherspoons

The best fish and chips we've ever had. A good cup of tea and a very filling, good quality meal. Jane was very pleasant and helpful and the service was excellent. A nice clean, tidy and friendly restaurant adjoining the chip shop. The batter on the fish was light and crispy, just like it should be ! Just what we were looking for after a cold day out.

Once again what a wonderful service from the Merchant . Takeaway for 32 people delivered still hot and So tasty. Supplied salt, vinegar and forks.

Lovely hot food shame the old lady with long blonde permed hair serving in the cafe had such an attitude. Spoilt what otherwise would have been a lovely treat meal out for me.

The first time I have ever been disappointed with this fish restaurant. The staff were as attentive as usual, but the food was definitely not up to their usual standard, Fish was overcooked and chips were lukewarm. What a disappointment. Let's hope it was just a blip.

I went to merchants fish bar with my partner last month and we did not have a good experience. The chips were stale and cold as well as the fish which has made me feel sick for 2 days after.

We live in Bewdley and our two grandchildren came on a visit from London. We walked around Bewdley and along the river reminiscing on their experiences in their younger days and decided on the spur of the moment to drop in for an early supper at the Merchant’s Fish Bar restaurant. We had an amazing experience the food was generous portion size. The fish was beautifully cooked encased in wonderfully crispy batter and the chips were also cooked to perfection too. Although we were the last customers in the restaurant the staff were so patient, kind and helpful after what I am sure had been a very hectic day for them all! We had such a fabulous experience we have vowed not to leave it too long till our next visit. Huge thanks to all at Merchant's House, we will see you again soon.

Really busy, queued for 20 minutes. Unfortunately it really wasn't worth the wait, really disappointing pale uncooked chips, and a tiny piece of fish in a lot of over cooked batter. Some of the order forgot and had to go back in. Staff seemed stressed and disorganised. Real shame as supposed to be a little Friday night treat with the family.

On holiday in the area, we’d seen the food looked good here so decided to have a take-away tea. As we entered the chippy, people were stood front and back, so we enquired if they’d been served, and we were told “yes” so we stood in front of the till/order point. The young server was fulfilling orders so we waited to be served. After 5 minutes when he clearly wasn’t readying food we wondered what was happening as he just ignored us. After a few more minutes he came to the till right in front of us, shouted “who’s next?” to our bemusement. After we politely said we were, he took our order without any greeting or thank you. 2 people behind us just walked out as he worked at a snails pace to take more orders. Same thing happened when our food was ready, he simply handed the bag to us with no acknowledgement or thank you. I don’t expect to be thanked profusely for spending £30 in a chippy, simple good manners will suffice, but that’s clearly too much trouble for the Merchant. PS …. the fish n chips were tasty.

Not good - the female staff member serving kept playing with her hair and touching her face. A big no no when serving food, very off putting. The fish and chips were mediocre. I agree with a previous comment standards have definitely declined. I won't be going back.

We visited Merchants Thursday 25th April we are a group of adults with additional needs. The staff were very attentive and helpful especially Taylor, she was so patient and friendly with our members. Great time had by all, we shall certainly be back soon.

5* fish and chips, friendly service and a sunny bench provided right by the river, what a treat! I mentioned I don't like too much batter, no trouble at all. The plaice was lightly battered, freshly cooked, crispy and absolutely delicious!

The fish was OK but the southern fried chicken was tastless. The chips were soggy and not very warm. They forgot the peas we ordered. This is the worst takeaway food I have had for a long time.

We visited Bewdley whilst on holiday and came across this fish and chip restaurant (to the side of their takeaway fish and chip shop). We both had haddock and chips which was great. Lovely tasting fish and chips. The lady that served us very kindly pointed out that the normal haddock was very large and suggested the smaller portion. We took her advice and the smaller size was plenty big enough for us. Nice, clean premises and excellent service and value. Can definitely recommend Merchants and if we are in the area again we would happily return.

Took the family and MIL to Bewdley for some fresh air today - beautiful sunny day - sat by the Severn with a portion of fish and chips from this establishment - it was excellent! Large portions freshly cooked and nicely packaged. Chips were perfectly cooked and fish had a lovely fresh crispy batter! Smaller meal deals for the MIL were good value too!

This was the worst fish and chips I ever had from here. The standard has been falling for sometime but it was at rock bottom today. I have had more fish in 3 fishfingers There are 3 price ranges for their fayre I chose the middle one at £8.50 The fish was so thin it must of been cut with a razor blade. The peas had black peas and the chips were dry. Even my dog refused to eat any. Far better in the area try the one down the road going towards Kidderminster 5 star in comparison

absolutely 10/10! Fish was Crispy with that perfect level of salt, Chips were cooked to perfection and the Curry sauce was so so good. Definitely recommend this place if you love Fish and Chips like me
