Best fish and chip shop for miles. Highly recommended

This was my first visit to this chippy. I can only compare it to the place I normally go to for fish n chips. The fish was a reasonable size, although not as big as my local chippy. The battery was on the soft side rather than crispy. The chips were a disappointment. The potato was cooked through, but they were very soft and broke up when I tried to pick them up with a fork. They had virtually no colour and they would have been better if they had been cooked for longer. I also had mushy peas on the side. They were nice but they came in the smallest portion I've ever seen. For the price I was expecting a large pot of peas. Then there was the cost. A "normal" portion of fish and chips with mushy peas for one cost £14.75! To put that into context, I usually pay around that price for both me and my wife. This is almost restaurant prices for a takeaway. So in summary, the food wasn't so good as to temp me back again, and the price has definitely made my mind up that I won't go there again.

Just had fish chips peas and curry sauce the fish was the best I have had in ages, very crispy batter good portion and well seasoned.chips cooked well definitely not undercooked great portion and mushy peas not runny good thickness well deserved review thanks guys Les

This always used to be the best fish & chip shop for miles around but lately it's gone right down. The fish is still very nice but the chips are awful. The chips are just a mash of bits almost inedible. We shall think twice about going there again.

This place used to be faultless. What's happened ? Chips were under cooked yet burnt on some edges. Battered sausage needed a chisel to get through the batter. How much they wanted for a tray of doner meat and then charge extra for salad. After 20+ years of going there with family - no more after this visit.

When ordered via the Uber app I asked for sweet chilli sauce but when food arrived it want sweet chilli but hot chilli which meant I couldn’t eat the food. The other two orders were fine as they normally are

Ordered food they gave us salad kebab asked for mixed meat they gave us chips with salt and vinegar on and scraps with salt and vinegar on and when we went to change it we was told that they aren’t going to do change it

Aa always a freshly cooked meal, we ordered for 17 using their App and it was hot and ready for collection as promised. Another perfect fish and chips meal.

Very nice chips but two chips and a large battered sausage was just over a tenner. That's kinda hard to swallow, no matter how much salt and vinegar you put on.

One of Bewdley's oldest chip shops. It's always clean, tidy, and busy. It's busy because they give great service and serve great food. There is a small car park at the back and limited parking at the front.

Again the food from this shop was lovely. Add this to the staff who are always pleasent and helpful is why we rate it highly.

Absolutely disgraceful! Ordered large chips & was given one scoop which barely covered the bottom of the tray for £4.95!!!!! A pot of curry sauce £2!!!!! £6.95 what on earth!

MOST EXPENSIVE FISH AND CHIP SHOP I HAVE EVER VISITED! Cost of living/ Inflation??!! Nope day light robbery! This has got to be one of the most expensive fish and chip shops I’ve ever been in. 4 large fish and 4 large chips was just shy of £60. I don’t pay that in a chippy in London that I frequent regularly. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! I suggest the people of Bewdley and surrounding areas go elsewhere. I will never return! My partner came back to the car and said you won’t guess how much that was! And she was right…my guess was well under! They weren’t even that tasty. Below average at best. Clearly the owner who pulled up in the car park thinks he has the pricing just right though as he rolls around in a brand new Jaguar! Disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Catchems End are Simply the best, my Mum insists on me driving her from Cleobury Mortimer to Bewdley to get her fish and chips from Catchems End. Today, we sat in the car park at Catchems End and ate them, steaming hot and delicious, we couldn't wait. Thank you once again xx❤️

Everything cooked fresh to order but that's fine because these were simply the best I've had in years. My friend and I sat out in the sunshine on top of Trimley ridge at the viewing bench and devoured them. Will.be visiting again soon and suggest you do.the same if your in the area.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and purchased Fish and chips.I have to say that everything was exceptional,the fish was huge,tasty and perfectly cooked,there were loads of chips which were again perfectly cooked.Will definitely be visiting again.

The food is great here but you do have to wait for it to be cooked! You are given the option to ring ahead your order, but if they are busy they don't answer the phone! I have found it is worth the wait.

Having had the food from here before I know that the quality of food is good but I have to say the £39.90 for three fish and chips is excessive and I will not be purchasing from here ever again, I’m completely aware of inflation and the cost of living, I’m also aware that the weather has directly effected the potato crop but to go to my local is half the price of this and to go out of my way for a family treat is now not worth it

Wrong meal sent. The machine was not working so instead of cancelling the order they sent a cheaper over cooked substitute that they thought would be OK! Had to go to deliveroo for a refund. Not to mention the price increase and food size decrease. Sadly our usual chipshop is not open Sundays so took the risk going back to here.. what a mistake

If you are coeliac don’t waste your time going here. I went this week for gluten free fish and chips and was asked how allergic I was. They provide gluten free batter but unlike most chip shops they fry everything in the same batter. This means it is not gluten free at all!! I was so disappointed because they have such a good reputation for quality. A waste of my time.

Great fish, chips, roe and peas and a huge portion of complete rudeness from staff. Entered shop with just one other customer in there. Completely ignored for some time, no eye contact, no nod of acknowledgment, but the staff had time to chat to each other and also smile and greet the delivery guy. This was this evening Friday, staff absolutely need customer training. This Fish and Chip shop is good but so is Merchants in Bewdley and Pats in Stourport-on-Severn. Needless to say won’t be returning to spend £17 again. We didn’t think it was possible to carry out a transaction without any communication. May be minimum wage but so is McDonald’s, if staff hate working there I suggest you work somewhere else, definitely not customer facing

Has something changed at this chippy? In the past the quality of the fish and chips were excellent. Regrettably for some reason this is no longer the case. Whilst the fish is still OK the chips served are limp, soggy and anemic lacking the colour and crispness of the chips previously served.

Order food paid for it got the wrong chance when confronted about it I was told I was wrong got the correct change after being called a liar but I had a receipt for the money I had on me won't be going there again very embarrassing for the customers in the shop

Salt and vinegar was lovely The rest was poor value and less than average quality. I expect the owner will say it’s large portion but it’s not. The fish was dry and over firm. Nothing to see here, move on. Meh!!

Great fish and chips plenty of flavour and fresh . Lots of staff here turning over the orders quicky . Even a seating area at the back of the chip shop on the car park looking out over fields .

We went twice during our week's stay - enough said. The food was good (especially fish) but not exceptional. Location is problematic, being on a busy road and opposite a busy side road. There's a small car park but can be very busy, and difficult to get in and out of due to the narrow access and busy road. Would still go back if we were in the area again.

£8.45 for mini fish and chips my local is £5.50 it's ok if it's just one person but for a family of 4 that's an extra £12! Not really in an average man's pay range. I pay less in cornwall when on holiday. Also my local is so much better. Lesson learned won't be back.

my burger was luke warm the small cod was broken in half and soggy and not crispy batter The large cod was actually ok and tasted nice the chips we had did not cover 3ppl over all price is expensive for what you get

Large order for Housing scheme residents , everything came correctly and as ordered . Helped carry it all to my car and all the residents said they loved it and are looking forward to having food from there again !!

The food is always extremely good and the service has been enhanced by the ability to order and pay on line and have your meal brought out to you.

Ordered cheesy chips with savoley and my partner had curry and chips with savoley, the chips was beautiful, in fact the best local chippy to go to, there is a good chip shop in Kidderminster, Sutton Road Fish Bar but Catchems End just beats them I'm afraid, very impressed with the food, first time I been back in about 25 years !the last time I went when I was about 14 and now I'm 40 and it's still does gorgeous chips ☺️ excellent service aswell bringing the food to my car

We have been going to this fish shop since the early 1970s when my grandad used to get them for us. It is still excellent and we don't go anywhere else locally. It is torture to have to walk past when they are open and not go in.

Wild caught Haddock. Very good indeed, amongst the best I have had anywhere but I had to queue for ages. Clearly that's because it is so popular and so good so I can't really knock a star off for that!

Today at around 3pm we visited this fish and chip shop.We had 2 large Cod plus a portion of chips and a potatoe fritter.We would give this meal 10 out of 10.The cod was THE best we have ever had from any chip shop. A lovely light crisp batter with large flakes of snow white fish, tasted amazing. Potatoe fritter in light ,crisp batter with well cooked potatoe and the chips were just as good .Would definately recommend this chip shop. SUPER.

Hi I haven't been here for a bit and will not go back after my order and ordered large chips and to me was not large and had a pie and it was not a pukka pie and the onion rings before were big ones and not looks like they got a pack from a shop for a £1.50 so will not go back here. I have to put a star but doesn't deserve one at all

Extremely disappointed with the portions I received this evening.... don't mind paying extra money for food, but the large chips was extremely small and I feel £7.00 for large fish is ridiculously overpriced ... sorry but very disappointed

Used to really like this chip shop but last visit was off and then today was actually disgusting, very expensive for a real poor meal. £6.20 for mini fish special only mini fish was tiny, £8.50 for a large kabab meat and it was basically sat in container so tasted just warmed up tinned meat, and the chips were the worst bit, full of black bits even my 4 year old wouldn’t eat them he said they weren’t nice. £18.40 I think it was all together and most went in the bin unfortunately. We won’t be giving any more chances to this place.

Our favourite place for fish and chips. We also have southern fried chicken which is beautiful. The food is always so fresh, it’s clean and the staff are very friendly. You really cannot fault the place.Today, our experience (27/03/2021) was much appreciated. We ordered on the app and request breast piece which unfortunately they had none left. They asked us to wait 10 minutes which we did and gave us extra, thank you so much. The curry sauce is also very nice!

Passed through yesterday on the way home after shopping I just fancied chips and curry sauce and they were very tasty and served by a most cheerful young girl the place is clean and all the staff seemed very friendly

This shop is our guilty pleasure. They have not once grumbled, served up a bad batch and always maintain the upper most professionalism in their customer service. The quality of food is excellent and we are never disappointed. In today's pandemic they continue to strive to be THE VERY BEST in everything they do and we are two very grateful customers who drive a 42 mile round trip just to ensure we get THE BEST.thanks people you simply are THE BEST!!!! mind you my hips are not getting any smaller lol

We ordered our fish and chip supper this evening using the appygrab app . We live two miles from Catchems , quite isolated. We have always preferred Catchems over Merchants, a better product . Sooooo delighted with our order . Bearing in mind we are tricky to locate , our food was hot and just as delicious as collection . Tremendous service .

Not very happy with service today, rang through a £50 order, got an arsey attitude from Mike and then was told when we got there to pick up our order that we had to wait at the back of the queue because we hadn’t paid!! Arsey Mike never mentioned paying over the phone. If it was just for us we would have told them to stick their food, but we were on route to my uncles for his birthday. When we dished up, 2 mini fish were missing from the order. What was the point in going all the way back and letting the other food go cold. Why offer a service to pre-order when you have to wait 20 minutes and then the order is wrong

Had a bad experience here before lockdown but decided to give it another try.... BIG MISTAKE ! Chips only thank goodness. Didn't look in the box until i got home otherwise I would have asked for a refund. I guess I should have been wary with only one customer in the shop at 9pm on Monday evening 7/9/20. I obviously ended up with the scrag ends. They looked like they'd been kicking around for hours. Thrown away. AND at £2.20 for standard portion of chips, well over the top for price. I will never go here again, no way to treat Customers, even if it was late.

Back in Bewdley, and to our favourite fish and chip shop! This place is great. The friendliest staff and the very best fish and chips in the area. There’s always a queue, even when there’s no Covid pandemic, but it’s worth waiting for. Recommended!

We always go this fish and chip shop. I used to go here with my grandparents too in the 1960s and 70s. The food is always great.

On a visit to Bewdley yesterday we drove past Catchems. we parked up in Bewdley took the pooch for a quick walk down the river, then thunder clouds loomed so we jumped back in the car and headed back to Catchems and very pleased we did. Parked in car park placed order which was brought out to us and thoroughly enjoyed two fish & one portion of chips perfect just hit the spot. Thank you Catchems good job!

We’ve been using Catchems End several times now during the new rules because of COVID-19. I am so impressed with their new process, the ordering via their website is SO easy and when you collect the order it is ready on time and of course it’s delicious. I have to say well done to the whole team they’re working so hard during strange times. Really wouldn’t want to go anywhere else now. Thank you so much for your hard work!!

We ordered via the website, this was simple as the website is easy to navigate.The food was ready to be picked up when we arrived at our chosen time.The haddock was superb ,well cooked and over hung our plates as they were so big .together with chips and mushy peas Made a memorable meal.

Catchum's End has to be one of the best chippys both Kiddy and Bridgnorth side of the boarder. Even after I was late collecting a order to outside reasons the food was amazing and still lovely and hot. The staff are always lovely too. It's rare this days where the staff have a natter with you while the food is cooked (pre covid times anyway) but the staff here do!The food is exceptional and come in bioboxes which keep the food warmer, crispier and the quality stays high. Fantastic job all involved. my weekly take away is something I very much look forward to!

Yet again another triumphant visit to this simply awesome ‘ chippie’ as you Brits call it. Even under the extreme pressures of COVID-19 and all the regs that must be adhered to, these people just continue to offer a level of service, quality of food and value.I have to do a 42 mile round trip to get our food but it’s worth it . The very high level of cleanliness has always been impressive and that is very rare. In these strange times, this is our only takeaaay of choice and cannot recommend it highly enough. We trust in what we are buying.Thanks to you all for giving such pleasure to we your very grateful customers.Looking forward to our next visit and btw...... that double beef burger with all the trimmings was DELICIOUS!!!!

Ordered haddock(great batter) for two, we like it a little more than cod. I like my chips to be well fried, so found these chips a bit anaemic, but still pretty tasty. Definitely go again, maybe next week 😉

Had a few take aways during lockdown, the food has always been wonderful, and ordering off the app has worked really good, out within 5 minutes of order time, or right on time,which is great, seeing how many people are there.

Just finished my fish n chips from catchems ... knew the food would be amazing as used before Covid... but..VERY impressed with the app used to order food... given a 10 minute slot for collection... food ready bang on time and piping hot... all social distancing observed by customers and staff..our first takeaway for 10 weeks... won’t be the last... thanks to all at Catchems ... Like many just had our first fish n chips in months, what can I say but absolutely amazing. May be the abstinence from takeouts talking but our meal was truly brilliant!!! Thank you.......probably ate too much but it was soooo good!

just the tonic needed, a fab fish and chip supper. ordered online, chose time slot, paid online and then collected. All went smoothly, the service was efficient and the food was very good. We had a very nice piece of battered fish accompanied by more than enough nice chips. Recommended to others, Job well done!
