Mercato Pizza Co. in Cheshire West and Chester

Genuinely don't think the bad ratings are justified at all here so feel the need to rate. Been 4 or 5 times now. The pizza is absolutely fantastic. Never had a problem with service and as for people commenting on the wait time...it's Chester market on a Saturday what do you expect.

Good pizza. Really slow service. Took over 30 minutes to arrive.

1 hour wait for one margarita pizza, shambolic.

Awful service. Pizza is probably lovely I’m sure, but I won’t know as never got to eat it and was refused a refund by the extremely rude guy working there despite the fact that my order hadn’t even been started after 30 mins. I fully appreciated it was a busy saturday and that me needing to leave quickly “wasn't your problem” (your actual words) but the attitude and refusal to refund something that you hadn’t even started to make really wasn’t necessary at all.

Visited today for lunch, ordered a meat feast when arrived wasn’t much meat asked why was told I’d asked for a meat special which I hadn’t. Had high hopes for a freshly made pizza but was disappointed. Wouldn’t go again.

Good pizza but terrible service. Nobodies buzzers were going off, despite being seated inside, not far from the stall. When we went to check 25 minutes later the pizzas were cold and all the orders were mixed up. The young lad on the till was rude, but the chef was apologetic. Poor hygiene from the server. They charge you more than what is advertised on the price list. Not worth the price they charge - I would recommend the pasta stall instead if you want Italian. Disappointing.

Atmosphere rating is for Chester Market as a whole. Ordered doughballs and pizza. The pizza was good but the doughballs where inedible as mostly raw inside. I did not want to go back to the counter as the member of staff was extremely haughty.

4 stars for the food, 2 stars for the customer experience, 3 stars overall. Be aware that you are paying restaurant prices for service that is more befitting of a street vendor, and that's before you even try to find a spare corner of a bench to perch on. How does a pizza vendor run out of basil on a weekend lunchtime?! I wouldn't have minded if they had at least told me when I ordered instead of only giving a nonchalant shrug when I noticed upon collection. No forks seems like a bit of a middle finger, especially considering the pizzas looked more like my son's spirograph toy after they had sliced them so carelessly, with some large slices on the outside and several smaller triangles in the middle. Definitely some potential here but they need a manager who cares more about the customer experience than the social media presence, otherwise they will soon run out of first-time customers and regret not having cared whether people might wish to return for subsequent visits. Most of the five star reviews on Google are from people who have only posted one review ever so we all know what that means..

Let me start by saying I am not a pizza eater. I think it’s just fancy cheese on toast which is not a meal. However, today, while my family went for Thai I fancied pizza for lunch (which is the right time to eat cheese on toast). The service wasn’t amazing, the server mumbled something about opting to donate to charity with my bill- which I’ll point out is a really inefficient way to donate for the giver and the charity but lets the vendor claim they’ve donated using your money. Anyway, unlike many I like fish on pizza and opted for tuna, red onion and olives. when it came after a reasonable time (it was very quiet) I'd say they got it bloody right. The base was the right thickness, crispy on the edge, doughy in the middle the balance of flavours spot on the quantity enough for me. If you have pizza twice a year like I do, this is the one to have. Well done the chef.

Absolutely fantastic pizzas. And the dough balls!!! My children (and they are experts) said they were the best they’d ever eaten. And service was fab too. A lovely young man even brought the plates to our tables because my hand were full. I will going back there again ver soon.

The pizza and toppings are good. However, the customer service is shocking from all involved. Also, very unhygienic on many occasions - specifically, when I was ordering the man was ill and wiped his mucus on his apron. It is a shame that good food has been tarnished by poor hygiene and customer service.

Best pizza in Chester. I've lived in Chester for 15 years and tried every other pizza outlet in the city centre. This is easily the best.

Good pizza but the service isn't commensurate with the price. Was left to stand around waiting before my order was taken while three staff were obviously involved in private conversations. The pizza was smaller than usual, but what really irked me was that there were no forks available and when I asked for one, I was told to try the other market stalls. There's just an air of arrogance to the start that I've encountered on previous visits as well - not sure if it's because was wearing high viz and looked a bit like a manual labourer.

Lovely pizza, friendly service and great atmosphere in the New Chester Market. Great to have proper fresh dough and ingredients. Thanks for the box too, to take my last piece home for later!

Pizza is very good. But the staff are horrifically rude; this is not a one off, rather it has been consistently awful for the last year and a half. It seems as though this place has developed quite the reputation for being rude...

Food was lovely great service form Fionnan and jaden would highly recommend the mozzarella dough balls both were lovely

The Pizza is actually fantastic but the customer service is atrocious. Went to order, greeted by a guy texting and smirking at his phone, then he has the audacity to turn his back on me, lean on the table behind him and finish his texting. I looked at another member of staff like "is this p&!£k serious?" Who did look a little embarrassed to be fair. The texter then turned around, no apology and took my order. They must be realising by now this is really hurting their reputation.

Customer service received by the young blonde hair guy on Sunday (14/01) was absolutely atrocious and made the whole experience a negative one. Pizza was lovely but tainted by the service.

Food is always lovely when I visit with friends, was served by Jack whose customer service was great as always! Will definitely come again.

The worst service I have ever received in my life. Ordered one pizza for me & my heavily pregnant sister to share. When 25 minutes had passed and the buzzer hadn’t buzzed, I went over to the stall. Met with the most hostile young member of staff - around 20 with light brown hair- who actually SHOUTED at me for not coming to pick the pizza up. I explained the buzzer hadn’t pinged and we’d been waiting for 25 minutes now. In response, the member of staff really aggressively grabbed two chalk board signs and quite literally shoved them in my face saying “Well if you could read, you’d see you can’t sit outside with buzzers”. Embarrassingly for him, and the company, the chalkboards were blank. Another member of staff at the pizza oven looked equally as shocked as me- another member of the public also commented how utterly rude the interaction was. The member of staff looked rightfully embarrassed, but didn’t apologise and presented me my now stone cold pizza on a plate. Told him, as we did when we ordered, it was for takeout and he slammed down the plate and shoved it in the box. I asked if it was still warm and was told “I don’t know”. Only when I looked very visibly upset and someone from the team told him this, did he come after me to utter an embarrassed apology. We have been coming here since they opened with the market & love !! the pizza but the customer service, or lack of, has utterly disgusted us. Honestly SO disappointed and disgusted.

Absolutely love Mercato, always my go to trader in Chester market. They do the best pizzas outside of Naples! Staff are always lovely and friendly, especially Jack who was so helpful on a busy night in the market!

The pizza wasn’t really anything special and like many others have mentioned the customer service really was poor. Definitely would not revisit when there is so many other nice stalls to choose from

Went to Chester Market today and decided on Marcato Pizza. Not only did they get our order wrong, the pizza base was doughy and raw. Half was barely cooked while the other half was burnt and inedible. We waited 30mins for them to open and order and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend. What a waste of £24.

Great atmosphere in the Market always. Shame about the attitude of the staff at this Pizza place. Very rude and will not spent another penny there.

Served me a floppy undercooked mess. Refused my request to cook it some more, then stuck it in the bin and refused to give me my money back. Really rude and aggressive. Just a horrible experience all round!

First time at the market, lots of good options but chose to go with pizza and it was delicious! Very simple (tomato, garlic, basil) but perfect in every way. Great service and great food from Jack and Craig!

The pizza was really tasty and I've been back a couple time to the Market for more pizza but it always seems to be closed. Went on a random evening and it was shut at 19.30 and again another time shut at 17.15. It's a shame when the food is really good, but good luck to people trying to catch the shop when it's open.

Myself and my partner's first time eating in Chester Market and we chose Mercato Pizza. Absolutely delicious, authentic Italian pizza with lots of flavour. It was so delicious that we got another one to share! Definitely would recommend them and we would eat here again.

Food was excellent. Ingredients really stood out on both pizzas. Didn’t take too long to cook either and the staff were dead friendly. Would Definately go back and try new flavours. I had taken the parents here and my dad was wishing they’d do take away 😅

This was a great place to order an authentic pizza cooked in a traditional pizza oven. The staff were very helpful and attentive and the pizza tasted great. Highly recommended.

Best pizza ever. I eat here at least 2 times a month with my girlfriend and we are always satisfied. It won’t disappoint. We get the Number 12. Asked for the whipped ricotta instead of the shaved.

Second visit but unfortunately it didn't live up to the first. I ordered the 2nd option pizza which was advertised as including basil and oregano. There was definitely no oregano on the pizza and only 2 pieces of (although burnt) basil. When we took the pizza back the response was quite non-committal, they said they were only allowed to use 3 pieces of basil (on a 6 slice pizza) and the oregano was put underneath the sauce and cheese yet we could not taste or see it. Annoyingly we won't be ordering from here again due to the lack of flavour and serious lack of customer service.

The best pizza i had in very long time, especially in UK there aren’t many places where you can get authentic Italian pizza. I definitely recommend this place if you want to have proper authentic pizza, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you team and “tesekkurler”.

Food was really authentic Italian. The scotch bonnet dip is a must and not to mention the service- I don’t know his name he has brown hair and very lovely he made the experience for me.

I don’t usually write reviews when I've not tried the food, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Chester Market. I went there with my girlfriend and mum for a casual lunch. My mum got some pasta from another stall, but me and my girlfriend wanted to try Mercato Pizza Co. However, we were saddened and frustrated to see a sign that said they won’t serve anyone with a nut allergy. My girlfriend has a nut allergy, which is very common and serious. We had to look elsewhere for our food. This is unfortunate and unfair in this day and age. People with allergies deserve to have options and enjoy their meals without being turned away. Mercato Pizza Co. could do better by catering to their customers’ needs and preferences. They could use separate utensils and equipment for allergy sufferers. They could also train their staff on how to handle allergy requests and inform customers about the risks. This would show that they care about the health and happiness of their customers. I hope they reconsider their allergy practices and make things better in the future. I would like to give them another chance if they do. Pizza and Italian places are usually our go-to when we eat out because they often have simple quality ingredients that are safe for my girlfriend’s allergies. We were looking forward to trying Mercato Pizza Co.'s pizzas, but we were let down by their policy. It’s a shame because they seem to have good reviews generally. Maybe they don’t realise how many people they are excluding by not being allergy friendly. I hope they change their mind and become more inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

I went tried this place today the food was nice and two worker who was there today , sabacho was rude and could see him being disrespectful to his worker

The food was very good but i couldn’t feel sorry for the lads working there. There was a guy with a beard and glasses there being very rude towards his member of staff. Swearing at them and being very unprofessional. One pure lad even burn his hand on the cooker and he didn’t even let him put his hand under the tap. Very unprofessional guy he was and extremely disrespectful/rude.

The manager sabacho was very rude to his staff was very unpleased with the way he spoke to them manners cost nothing

Two pizzas in two days from here.. just had to come back for more! The best pizzas around in my opinion. The tastiest bases with a great selection of toppings. Very friendly staff.... and interestingly they've recently started turning excess dough into baguettes. We took a couple home and had later that evening and they were delicious. Good ethos and mentality about this place. A real credit to Chester market.

I recently visited the chester market and was overwhelmed with the amount of choice of food available and decided to choose this place, I ordered the stuffed dough balls and the carbanara pizza, it was the best pizza I have ever had and the dough balls were incredible, fair play to the ginger lad who was doing the food as it was really busy and the food was top quality and was clearly made by someone with great knowledge and expertise on the product. I would highly recommend coming to this place.
