Mem Saab in Leicester

Very pretty interior. Mains portion was very good for the price and bigger than most Indian restaurants. The side portions however are comically small, especially when you're paying about £9 for a palm sized amount. We had chicken dishes for our mains and both of us noticed how dry the chicken was. I've never been to an Indian restaurant here they couldn't cook chicken. The service was also a bit annoying as we had two servers who about two minutes apart would come and ask us bout our meal. Seats were comfortable and the music was relaxing. Also, be careful as they add a service charge...even for two people, and despite asking not to pay, we were charged (we realised later on). Saying that, I would go back, would choose another dish and see if that night was maybe a bad night for them.

Absolutely delicious food & great service from Chisty!

We celebrated my Dad’s 80th Birthday last Saturday and I can not thank Raj and his team enough for making it such a memorable night, from the door being held open, especially as my father was on crutches after a knee operation only two days earlier to the complimentary drinks at the end of a wonderful evening enjoyed in the private dining area of the restaurant. The staff were professional and polite, the food was so plentiful ands varied, from the fixed meno option we chose every one of the 26 guests were to feel special. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Just had another lovely meal at Mem Saab. This is definitely the finest Indian cuisine in the whole of Leicestershire. Thanks for the complimentary Rose Tequila liquors, see you again soon.

We had a wonderful dining experience, and a big part of that was thanks to Abhishek, our server for the evening. He was extremely courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. His suggestions for food selection were spot on — everything he recommended turned out to be delicious and perfectly suited to our taste. Abhishek took the time to understand our preferences and guided us patiently, which really elevated our overall experience. Excellent service and a genuinely pleasant attitude — thank you, Abhishek!

Welton was our server for the night. He did an amazing job with servicing us, assisted in making recommending when needed and was very helpful. The ambiance and atmosphere at the restaurant was amazing. This is my first time trying Indian cuisine so it was pretty okay.

Booked a meal for 10, all guests spoke very highly of Memsaab Leicester, this place seriously hits the spot! The staff were super friendly and welcoming and I’m sure we will visit again!!

We came to Mem Saab to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary, we had been before a number of years ago, we were glad to say it has only improved since we last came (which is hard to imagine as it was so good before). From the first welcome to farewell handshake you are made to feel like one of the family. Special mention to Chisty who was amazing !! The food was spectacular, we asked for some recommendations and we were so pleased we did. We had lamb cutlets and seekh kebabs for starters. I had the Lamb Nihari which was amazing, deep flavours and tender lamb. My wife has Monkfish Moilee, which was absolutely incredible...especially with some added King Prawns. Overall, it was impossible to find fault with the meal.

Meat Samosas as starter and Tandoori Combination as main. Enjoyed it with an Indian beer. I am not a food expert, but all was tasty, not very spicy (I prefer this way). Classy atmosphere. Good for special days or group events. Very friendly staff. A bit pricy but definitely a mist go place in the city.

The service was absolutely excellent. Raj Kooner, the owner of the restaurant made us feel so welcome, along with the rest of the staff, as they usually do. The food was great, and the overall experience of the restaurant was a 10/10!

Perfectly cooked food that was full of flavour. Dishes were all beautifuly presented and had a wide variety to chose from. Mostly their outstanding service was by far the best I have ever seen. Without a doubt some of the tastiest and highest quality food that I have had, alongside the most knowledgable, attentive and kind staff. The service puts so many restaurants to shame and contributes to a genuine experience worth the time and money to eat out (and to class it as an event). Lean on the advice and recommendations of the staff, and don’t be scared if you’re sensitive to spice or have any dietary requirements because the staff are as accommodating and flexible as you could wish for. I’ve been as tables of 2, 4, 6, 8, 20 and 60, and the service and quality has never faltered. I do not know of anywhere else that can claim that! Equal thanks to the front of house staff & the kitchen for (what can only be) the pride in their work that makes it all special!

The service was good, the staff were helpful, I would have have given a 5 star rating. However, the price you pay, did not reflect the portion of the food. The size of the starters were small, mains were good but what was most shocking was £7.00 for a small plate of salad. Im sorry, but the price you pay for everything else, I would have expected this to be complementary at least.

Went for a friends birthday meal. Dessert given on the house. Brilliant service from everyone! Will be back again

We had an amazing meal here last night for a belated birthday treat! We could not fault any part of it. The food was phenomenal and tasted so fresh and bursting with flavour, the wine accompanying was perfect and the attentive service we recieved was amazing. Visited Memsaab for an evening dinner and I wasn't disappointed with the quality of the food, ambience and service. The staff were welcoming and attentive, our server Welton was very good, possessed a good knowledge of the food on offer and made recommendations based on our preferences. The prices and food portions are what you would expect of a fine dining experience, in my opinion the quality is what mattered to me the most and it excelled. I will visit again.

If you want massive potions of food, you won't get it here, what you will get is good quality food of modest potions but thoroughly enjoyable. You will also be full, due to the quality of ingredients used. Service was excellent, I highly recommend

One word...Excellent. I have lived in USA for over 20 years and I have had one craving the entire time I have been there, really good Indian food. When I visited Leicester to see family I knew that Indian food would be top of the list of things to do. I was not disappointed by Mem Saab. The manager came over and introduced himself once we were seated and answered questions about the food. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. If and when I go back to England again I would even make the trip to Leicester just to eat here again it was that good.

We arrived it was mid week didn’t book but they were happy to receive us we were a table of 6 & the staff was very friendly & helpful in the choices we wanted to make very good wine 🍷 selection I chose something different & good quality meal the main I had chosen was but dry it was seafood but that was my choice mistake

This place was Fantastic, can't rate it highly enough, even though there was a problem with the booking (totally our fault , not the restaurants) and it was the busy run up to Christmas the restaurant still manned to accommodate us. Food was fantastic, would advise anybody to pay the Mem Saab a visit.

Amazing restaurant, the best curry I have ever had. The staff were incredible and could not do enough to help our party of 8, 4 adults 4 children, even brought some chicken pakora out for the kids to try whilst we waited for dinner. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a slap up l, delicious meal.

We met some friends here for a meal, 4 adults 4 children for dinner after bowling. I can’t speak highly enough of the experience from the moment we walked through the door. The staff were great with the kids, they brought starters out straight away to keep them going nothing was a problem. Every dish we had was fresh tasting had deep flavour and not oily or heavy. We will definitely be back,kids and I are looking forward to it already!!

Been a few times when I am visiting Leicester. Always good. The manager has been present every time and is very attentive. My wife tries to be a hero with the spicy food and the manager is on hand to grab some yogurt to calm her down. It is a very good Indian restaurant and I am yet to find a better one. It is pricey compared to a typical curry house but the food is flavoursome and rich which very much justifies it. It has style and the substance excels. My ONLY gripe is the Mango Lassi should be sweeter. The wife has booked a table for 6 of us next month when I return to Leicester so I am just thinking of that amritsari fish and the railway lamb.... nyom nyom!

I revisited Mem Saab yesterday for a birthday celebration and it was even better than the first time. The staff were friendly, professional and courteous throughout, and we didn't at all feel rushed even though we were caught in traffic and were over 20 minutes late. The decor, as ever, is quite lavish and well suited for special occasions. This didn't distract from the food, which was consistently excellent; this is a place that can easily stand on the strength of its food alone. The lamb nihari was rich and the lamb was tender, the chilli chicken wasn't overly dominated by spice and was flavourful and the butter chicken masala was excellent, the best example of the dish I've had. A trip to Mem Saab will cost a little more than your average curry house but then this is no average curry house; it offers a very high standard of food and service in a comfortable, classy setting and is extremely difficult to fault. Judging it purely on the food alone, it's as good as any I've tried in Leicester. We'll definitely be back, thanks again to the team for making it a special meal.

We went to Mem Saab with my partner for dinner and had an absolutely amazing experience. As French people we tend to be a bit picky when comes to food/restaurants but Mem Saab has been clearly above and beyond our expectations. We could feel a very cosy atmosphere and have had a warm welcome from everyone. The Chef himself came to see us time to time to ensure everything was alright. Walton took great care of us and made sure we choose the best dishes in regards to our preferences. I'd definitely recommend Mem Saab to every food lover and people who are looking for top class restaurant.

This meal was outstanding from start to finish. We were well looked after by our waiter Chrishty who gave phenomenal customer care. The food was tasty, flavoursome and well seasoned. The team even gave a complementary cake as it was my wifes birthday. A lovely touch!

From the moment we walked in we knew we had booked the best in the county. The service was first class, taking our coats to start the experience. We were helped with menu as they know the best sellers. We ordered and wow, we were not disappointed as the food was beyond beautiful. The customer service was absolutely 100% in fact since moving here 7 years ago, we have never experienced food or service like it. This restaurant have not only delivered the finest food and service ever, they have rung the bell all round. We cannot wait to return. My mum came here a few weeks ago and said it was a must go to. I came here with my partner for his birthday meal and we both agreed this is by far the best Indian we’ve ever been to! The food was amazing, they explained all options and gave advice on what would go well with your meal if you were unsure. They were also very clued up on gluten free (coeliac) and could accommodate different options if required. They were well aware the popadoms were cooked separately and no contaminated with any gluten before I even asked! The service was incredible, we were asked various times if we were ok and if there was anything they could get us. We never had an empty glass or had to ask for a drink as they’d be over just before it was empty and our bottle of wine was poured for us. Thankyou for a great meal!!

We visited this restaurant after a De Montfort graduation ceremony. It was early evening and although we had no reservation the restaurant was fairly quiet and they were happy to host us. It is well laid out restaurant with clean, fresh and elegant table settings. The staff were extremely welcoming and made you feel very much at home. The menu is varied with both the usual traditional curry meals and some excellent specials. The contents and preparation of each meal was explained in detail if required and the spice level could be varied to individuals taste. The food was of a very high standard and matched by the standard of table service. This restaurant stands out as one of the very best Indian restaurants we have visited and could not recommend it more highly.

Worst restaurant in Leicester Total Bill costed more than 35£ and in return my husband got food poisoning because of un fresh food. We are going to complain to food hygiene authority soon.
