Mel's Traditional Fish & Chips in Magherafelt

Absolutely disgusting. The biggest waste of £39 I think we have ever spent. Given that they don’t sell any other fish bar cod you’d think their cod and chips would be excellent but we had to throw everything away- even the chips were inedible. Please don’t waste your money. Avoid avoid avoid

Absolutely vile. For a shop that literally does cod and chips and no other fish/ sausages at all you’d expect it to at least be good. But youd be wrong. We stayed in an air b n b and the host said this was the most local one. Most wasted £39 we have ever spent. None of us could finish it. Seriously need to do better

Best chips I've tasted in a long time. Good sized portions and the fish was great as well. I'll be back again.

Ordered a burger supposed to be peppered sauce on It wasn't on it wouldn't go back terrible

Absolutely disgusting a chip shop that can't cook chips nevermind chicken or anything else. Worse food I have ever had. I wouldn't waste your money.

Seriously got handed this sorry sack of turd and told it’s a large bag of chips. After having to request my change (thief’s aswell) then I got handed a flickering of chips on a wee tray. Absolutly shocking. Then the customer service on the fone wasent much to be desired. I was asked to take the chips back to the chippy so they could measure them hahaha have you ever heard the like of it in your life??? Something needs done about this place. The whole community is getting robbed and they’re all oblivious to it

Me and 2 of my friends went to this chippy on 06/7/2019. We got chicken burgers. In my opinion the date needs checked on the chicken that was used. All 3 of us ended up at the toilet before bed boking up the whole chippy we ate. I would give this 1/10 if I could Disgusting

Good food and reasonably priced compared to some places I've been to..

Fantastic service from all members of staff especially a young girl called shannon who was extremely helpful and had great service and would highly recommend this place to anyone travelled pretty far for this, did not disappoint definitely be back visited on the 13/4/19

There is a certain member of staff in Mels that is extremely rude especially when it is their mistake when they don't fulfil full order that has been made then expect you to pay twice you know who you are. Please management send this girl on an intensive customer care course.

Called in on way home from a long trip. Food was excellent. Well worth a visit. I will be back soon.

Nice food bad service at weekend too many young staff not nice manners when they get the order wrong and then try to say they didn’t why would they ask you to bring back the whole order to they check it out after you haddriven to get it and driven back to show them and after you had got it home and on the plates unreal won’t be back again . Mel get back behind the counter before they ruin your good shop

Was in the area for van parts and tried their burger and battered sausages. It was so nice I called later on way home for the same. The food was fresh and non greasy. Place is clean. I can see how it can be slow as it's busy and food cooked fresh. But for a chippy I recommend it. Who knows when I'll be in the area again but I will visit.

Ordered for family. After 40 minutes got food, went home only to discover half the Order was missing. Phoned dump and put on hold. Told by staff they couldn't do anything. Give them our address to deliver food. Never arrived. Paid for our food but never got it. Con artists. Avoid at all costs.

Mel's you got to go for your poke of chips kids love them , stop of on the way back from portrush . You got to try the fish bites and the cod super they have a big menu.first class service .

Half an hour wait on food. It was far too slow. Food was ok. Buy plenty coz you'll be hungry by the time you get it.

Premises are clean. Food is of a high standard. Prices are good. It can get very busy. Possibly best to order by phone

Been here a few times when in Maghera and I wish I could say all of them have been positive. The most recent time it wasn't much good as the fish supper wasn't boxed as it normally would be and the chips lacked taste. The girl on the till had an attitude of that she didn't want to be working as you could also hear her complaining about working to other staff members which showed her heart wasn't in it, Maybe if I visit again it will be back to it's better standards.
