Food was lovely and delivered in timly manner staff polite, the access is great all flat so we thought perfect for wheelchair user but the Only thing to improve is the wc, for a disabled access toilet you can't get a wheelchair in there as the door opens in so when the person on the wheelchair is in there u can't close the door, my son is paraplegic so he can't get up and walk a few steps the chair is his legs, this meant he couldn't use the facilities there, if the door opened out it would have been suitable.

The first time in the Mel Rose in a very long time, and it’s great to have an amazing experience as before. Food was delicious, atmosphere was great. Ian and Joanna provided both professional and incredible service. Made me feel right at home. They are an asset to the team!

Always a great carvery. Reasonably priced drinks and a nice atmosphere. Ideal for couples and families, with kids play area. Sports enthusiasts very well catered for with plenty of large screens around the bar area. AAA****

Great food first time here. Quick service Ian had some great drink suggestions when i couldn't make my mind up. Elin was amazing when bringing the food and even checked back to see if the food was OK and if there was anything we needed. Thanks for an amazing visit will be booking for Sunday to try out the carvey.

Sometime it can get a bit rowdy. However, I must say the Bar staff are loverly... in Particular Ian (I think his second name is Brown).He is so accommodating and courteous.Very professional and can handle some difficult customers. Great Guy.

It's been some time visiting the Greene King food chain. Came as a group, so orders were separate from the other half. When I arrived. Midday. It was quiet and peaceful. Wait to have the table reserved to become ready, which wasn't a problem due to arriving early. With this restaurant, you have to go up and order as the online could be technical if not familiar. Requested the ultimate mixed grill paying for the upgraded rump. Requested the substitute of fries instead of chunky chips. With the rump steak medium rare. Here, what got rather weird. If you want to order a starter, then a main, don't just order everything as it all comes out together. That is what started to cause the mix-up of orders as 3 orders of the mix grill were completely mixed. The staff didn't even seem aware of what was on what order rather just calling it by name without the add-ons. Chips, onion rings, eggs, and sausage were ok. Gamon, chicken was over cooked but still in stages of cooked with a hint of char that made up for the dryness. Steak wasn't bad, still felt dry even though it was rare.

A really lovely family pub! We brought our two children for one of their events - the animal experience. It was amazing to get up close to animals for amazing value. We stayed after for some food and definitely recommend. The kids' menu had lots of options and was great value. We had 5 small plates for £17, all were served hot and good amount of food. The staff are really friendly and helpful, will definitely be back :)

Me and my beautiful fiancee had a lovely 16th Anniversary carvery meal at the Melrose Inn. The food was delicious and the staff including (Ian & Beth) were very helpful and polite. 😁 We will return again in the near future! 🍻🥂👍🏻

The new castle brown is a reasonable price when ian is working he always brings my drink over to the table and brings the wireless card machine so I don't have to go to the bar. Absolutely smashing place and the carvery is a great price at £8 pound for the large 😀

We've been coming here for a few months now & really enjoy the atmosphere & the food. Staff are always polite & happy. Today we were served by Beth who was patient when I forgot what one of my family members wanted. After our food arrived we realised one meal was missing & had been missed off & not charged for. Not a problem for Ian sorted it quickly & we paid afterwards. He checked on us throughout our meal & cleaned up as soon as we finished. Can't fault it here, we come down for a Carvery once a week if we can, as our children don't like roast dinners, so my husband & I treat ourselves. Thank you Ian & Beth for your help today.

Excellent Sunday lunch great value .

Best Sunday roast in the city. Tried many, and this is the best by far! What's more is that it is better value too. The staff are lovely too. It does get busy, so it's best to book. It's a family-friendly venue, so don't expect fine dining or a quiet ambience, though. They also do quiz nights and special events as well as having a child play zone, which is ear piercing in its levels of enjoyment from its users.

Had a great experience at the pub. The pub is just at the end of the road of our squash club and Neil has been kind enough to facilitate our team meal. First of which was last night. Neil, Faith and the staff couldn't do enough for us and accommodated every need. Food choices were great and value for money! Thanks guys.

Cai and Ian are amazing. Always very friendly and remember us from previous visits. The food is always nice and really good value for money. This is now our local. We have brought friends and family here with us.

Great local pub with a good range of food (including a carvery), and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Lots of room to sit outside in the sun (although this is Cardiff so the sun isn't always there) and great for watching sports with multiple TVs lying about...

I’ve been here a few times and overall the food and service is great. Sometimes there could be to many reserved places where it’s then hard to find a table but other than that it’s a decent please to eat.

Ian was a great bartender, he was polite and very quick while serving. Food was great! We had the small platters 5 for £17 deal, all food was great! The atmosphere was the only let down. Lots of children running around like crazy. Many people screaming very loud and barging past our chairs. Was a bit of a shame. Definitely will be returning, but hopefully the children will be in bed!!

First time of coming here. What a great 1st impression. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, we were celebrating my sister's 60th birthday. Food was excellent and had a very good choice of gluten free meals. Will definitely be returning

We were taken care of by jess and Ian and they were absolutely fantastic. Very attentive and joined in the celebrations of our 60th party. The food was fantastic and a lot to choose from. Thank you Jess and Ian you made my mother's birthday that extra special but your fantastic service!

We dined here last night and were extremely disappointed with the food, service and facilities. We arrived to a busy car park so took this as a positive sign. However inside was not so busy. We chose the carvery and having been involved in the food industry we understand carvery items can be under heat lamps for an extended period of time. That being said the food quality was extremely poor. The beef was tough, the Yorkshire puddings were like chewing leather, the veg was mush, the boiled potatoes were gritty, the cauliflower cheese was bland and the roast potatoes were soft. The staff were inattentive, paying more attention to what I assume was their partner. The toilets facilities were dirty & broken. Unfortunately we can’t recommend here and won’t return on our future visits to Cardiff.

What a beautiful pub! Booked a party booking and staff were amazing, the food came out quickly and carvery my kids loved and so did everyone else. I would defo come back again.

Hot, delicious food. Great menu. Our server Cai, (Probably spelt wrong) was delightful and polite. The place was quite quiet when we went so we didn't have to wait long for food. Nice chilled atmosphere and nice ambient music. 10/10 experience will be coming again.

Found this place a few weeks ago, walked in without a booking, our meal was lovely, but carvery looked good, so we took family there and our granddaughter played in the play centre connected, while we finished our meal. Carvery was 1st class and very enjoyable. Would recommend highly.

What a find! This place is so lovely on the outside and inside! Ian was our server and he was excellent. Kids go free over the summer as well, what a bargain! The beef dripping roasties were fantastic, the mash even better so creamy! The ham melted in my mouth and wasn’t too salty. All the veg was delicious. They even had onion gravy. Will definitely be visiting again.

Great price, sometimes half the price of what other Cardiff places charge for food! Friendly staff, premises were clean. Portion sizes were good. Will definitely return.

No AC, so hot and stuffy. Carvery still on display. Ordered and paid for 2 then found out that the carvery closed before our arrival. Menu doesn't suggest a time limit. Ordered a mixed grill instead, steak was very over cooked, peas cold. Other meals slightly wrong as well.

We visited today with our 2 X 9yo. The soft play wasn't too busy and the children had a great time. We had food as the children ate for free with full paying adults. The only slight negative is the drinks are expensive (although this is the case with many pubs/restaurants now). The staff were exceptional and brought our drinks through from the restaurant and the carver was kind enough to help me with the doors. They told us about available offers and the Friday night disco and lending us an ice pack when one of my children hurt themselves. Faultless service! Just came back from having a carvery lunch with my three grandchildren and husband, it was our first visit there,all our food was lovely and cooked well,it looked fabulous and was delicious and we will return there in the future, I highly recommend going there.

I work for a local Day Service and we bring our service users here every Friday. The staff here are amazing. Very helpful. The food is cooked to perfection.

Sometimes a bit slow getting served at the bar and carvery but staff are friendly and the food is always good.

Came two Sunday in a row, and just booked to come back for next week. Food is spot on, and a lovely, friendly, laid back atmosphere.

The food was lovely and Ian and Lauren were so friendly and helpful. They made us feel comfortable and welcome with their smiley faces. Will definitely come again.

Went for carvery. We used the app that said our carvery tickets would be brought by a member of staff, this is incorrect, you have to show your email to the carvery chef, this wasted 15 mins of our time waiting for our tickets. The carvery chef kept us waiting 2 10 mins before he appeared out of the kitchen to serve. However, the food was nice, lovely soft beef and gammon. Nice selection of veggies and nice thick gravy. Only criticism is the temperature of the food. Yorkshire pud was freezing and the rest of it was tepid. Amazing stuffing. Apart from the wait and the temperature everything was lovely. I would return with the hope that the food is hotter next time and hopefully this time was a one off.

I am extremely disappointed with my visit at the melrose Inn this afternoon. First of all when our food was brought out there was multiple items missing. Our kids meal, sour ceam dip missing with our mushrooms and cold garlic bread. Second, we went up to get our carvery and the man who served us was servery rude with no manners. We asked if we could have a little bit of ham with some beef. He then took off the ham he was about to put on the plate and rudely said with an attitude "I have to put that back there is a limit with the meat" which is understandable but there was no need for the attitude. The turkey that I had myself was serverly dry with the brocoli being mushy and over cooked. I will not be attending here again!

All staff are really pleasant, friendly and welcoming to us and our three dogs. They can't do enough for us. Food is also amazing

Carvery here is phenomenal, always fresh and hot, the servers are lovely too! one thing i would like to add as constructive feedback is that the Gravy could be a little thicker, other than that 10/10!

Hadn't had a carvery here for a long time, due to disappointing food. But had a carvery meal about 2 weeks ago and was amazed how good it was. Good selection of vegetables and all very tasty compared with the Toby Carvery where you get 3 tasteless veg. The roast potatoes were cooked in beef dripping according to the Chef (think his name was Matthew) and were lovely. Will be returning this week and hope it's as good.

Friendly and helpful staff. Our visit was midweek so quite quiet which probably helped with the food arriving very quickly. Food was reasonably priced and of good quality. Pleasant beer garden to enjoy a few drinks in the sun.

Went here and ordered a nashville topper for a jumbo crispy chicken, my my was it divine. jalapeño bites was sensational and my side order of onion rings were the definition of perfection! Definitely would come again
