Fabulous coffee. Thank you. The place was very wacky, although it was inviting and the staff were friendly. I can only assume it is a favourite of locals as plenty of people were in and out.

Not impressed. The cafe looks bright and inviting from outside. We needed a quick coffee before visiting the Cathedral so went inside to order two flat whites. No welcoming smile from the barista. She did bring the coffee out to us. The coffee was tasteless. No hit of caffeine. More like hot milk with a hint of coffee. The cakes and pastries looked nice though.

What’s happened here then ? Where’s the friendly staff ? Sat and looked at a changed menu ? Very disappointed. Looks like it’s been taken over . Always came here for delicious coffee . Sat down and was going to order a bit of lunch , but there wasn’t anything other than cakes and drinks on the menu … No atmosphere here anymore, wasn’t buzzing like in recent visits .. and there’s a guy with his feet up on the chair !! Got up and walked around off .. real shame

Melbourne is always my go-to destination for coffee, cake & relaxation. It is simply the best in Lichfield and is entirely unique. It isn't just the authentic coffee, fabulous range of sweet & savoury treats, the ambiance & snazzy decor...it's the staff. Always friendly, always professional and always smiling.

Called in for a coffee and milkshake ,2 sausage rolls to take out £17:00 made the coffee and left it on side going cold while the milkshake wasn’t being made ,when we asked what was going on one of the staff called me rude ,we both have worked with the public , inexperienced and totally disorganised,,won’t be going again

Stumbled across this amazing little cafe while browsing in the town. Hot chocolate and chai latte was lovely and we were spoiled for choice on the brownie front! We were all adults but thought that the play corner for little people looked like really good fun!

Popped in for a takeaway coffee before meeting friends for lunch. Asked for cinnamon syrup (a very rare find these days) but was offered milk infused with cinnamon. The flat white was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. Spotted their display of pastries and cakes whilst in the queue. My friend appeared and I showed them the shop window of treats- we decided to not have ‘pudding’ at the restaurant but to come back and partake of the delights. We were not let down. Friendly service and nice calm but busy atmosphere.

We visited on my birthday, so I wanted to be sure I had found somewhere with good cakes and I was not disappointed! So many to choose from. The staff are friendly and cheerful, this is a delightful spot. If I lived in the area, I know it would be my regular café. Definitely recommended.

What an absolute gem of a find! I haven't been to Lichfield for some time, so was intrigued to see somewhere new. The place is bright and cheerful yet still rustic, chilled and cosy. The drinks menu is superb with some unusual options to choose from. Decently priced and good sized portions. Although small in size, Melbourne packs a hearty punch in hospitality. The staff were all young but bright, cheerful and positively awesome! If I had one criticism, it would be for the owner to add a tips option when paying by card. It's currently a cash only tips system, but many people don't carry any cash now since Covid. Staff can make or break a place and these young people definitely need to be richly rewarded for the fabulous vibe they create. And the music was great too.....please make a Spotify playlist for customers to follow :) Will I be back? You bet your Australian dollar I will!

My husband and I were in Lichfield for a mini break. Walking down Bird Street on Sunday evening, 30 April, we saw this little cafe and read the drinks menu on the board outside, some interesting drinks. After dinner we were walking back up Bird Street towards our hotel. This cafe was still open late ish at night, there were tables and chairs outside. It had been raining, we decided to stop for a hot drink and sit outside, a staff member wiped the seats dry for us. We ordered a chai tea and a cappuccino, both arrived in take away cups as the cafe was closing soon. The chai tea was absolutely gorgeous, so different and tasty, the flavour was aniseed and cloves, my cappuccino coffee was very tasty too. We shall definitely stop by here next time we are in Lichfield. Lovely staff and the inside was cosy and quaint … thanks for your hospitality.

We regularly visit (usually for a coffee or iced tea); on an unseasonably warm day my tea was very welcome and thirst quenching but the others chose various coffees which were all fantastic. The sausage roll received a thumbs up and, as always, there was a delicious choice of cakes (some are vegan). This is our vegan son's first choice when he visits Lichfield and, as the outside tables were full, we sat by Minster pool enjoying our break in the sun.

They sell gorgeous coffee and scrumptious cakes!! Most of the cakes are vegan so you have plenty of delicious choices! The coffee was silky and rich and a choice of lovely plant milks. We had pumpkin spice which warmed us up on a chilly afternoon. We love you and we’ll be back! Friendly, helpful staff too!

Not somewhere I’d waste my time going again! I’d seen their Instagram profile and decided to meet a family member there. Disappointingly, we were expected to sit inside but order our coffee outside in the pouring rain. There were no menus to look at either so instead of standing in the rain we decided to go elsewhere. Strange set up.

It is a real shame I'm writing this review as my partner and I have been regular customers of Melbourne since the first lockdown. However our last visit on new years day left us very disappointed. The staff were rude, sarcastic and obnoxious when they were asked a question regarding soft drinks. The manager is also quite possibly the rudest person I've ever met. Maybe someone was a little worse for wear after new years celebrations however there is no place for bad customer service. There are plenty of other places to get good coffee with much better customer service. Not a great way to welcome the new year in with your customers. Save your money and go somewhere else. Unfortunately as you can probably guess, we will not be returning.

Melbourne is by far one of the best things Lichfield has to offer. It is unique & I can't recommend it enough. The coffee is fresh & delicious and the wide selection of cakes & pastries are heavenly not to mention the wide range of drinks. Service is always with a smile & the outside seating area is great as is the indoor seating.

A lovely little coffee kiosk! We came across this during lockdown and the staff were the reason I went back after my first visit, they are just so lovely and friendly! I’m not a coffee drinker but the hot chocolates are delicious- variety of syrups and flavours! Dog treats available too. Such a lovely, quirky friendly place, one of my favourites for a takeaway drink!

All of my friends love this place and now I can see why. The energy chai is well worth a try and the anzac biscuits were amazing.

During lockdown having takeaway coffee is almost the only thing you can do. Their turmeric latte is my favourite. They have a great variety off rolls and croissants with novel fillings that you don’t find elsewhere. The cakes are scrumptious. I can always find something for the lactose intolerant friends as well as Vegans and vegetarians. Always welcoming and treat you like you are local. It’s set up nicely even with restrictions due to Covid. Usually closed by 2 but will be open early.

Coffee is fantastic, only stopped by when walking the dogs but can say it's my new favourite place! Will definitely be back

I wandered around town and saw this busy cafe and wanted to know what the fuss was. It was brilliant and I really enjoyed the theme of the cafe despite it being able to sit in. Well done guys!!!

Lovely quirky little cafe with outside seating if the weather is okay. They roast their own coffee which is very nice. They open and close early which can be a problem if you are out for a late afternoon walk!

Love everything about this cafe. Dog friendly, great coffee and reminds me of Croft Alley in Melbourne.

We've started heading here every weekend now after we feed the ducks, the little one runs here shouting cake, the banana and dark chocolate loaf is brilliant and after just returning I think I've just had the best sausage roll of my life with their cheese and pesto version. See you next weekend.

This is such a great, quirky sort of place with friendly staff. The coffee is absolutely well worth trying. Cakes and cookies looked good. Not sure what else they do as we just stopped for coffee break.

What a little gem to find in a new city! I heard so much from other locals about this coffee shop that made it sound like so much more than a coffee shop, another business in town even said ‘Melbourne isn’t coffee, it’s a way of life’ and it so is. I won’t lie, my first visit wasn’t what I expected, it was early morning in miserable January and I was met by a bit of a dull girl who couldn’t recommend anything as she didn’t drink coffee and wasn’t sure about the shops history other than the owner being from Melbourne, but I heard so much good that I decided to try again and wasn’t disappointed. I went in early a couple of weeks ago and entered to find a girl chatting away with another early customer, both of them said hello and immediately involved me in their conversation. The girl serving wasn’t feeling well but still cheerfully talked me through the coffees and told me all she knew about the shop, and I spent half an hour sitting at the bar talking to her between other customers learning about coffee ‘Melbs style’. She asked my name, warned me she’d probably forget it and have to ask me again next time, and seemed genuinely interested in hearing about my life. A second visit this week was absolute icing on the cake (cakes there are also delicious and there’s a ton of variety for veggies and vegans which is lovely to see) when the same girl recognised me (and remembered my name!) and introduced me to her beautiful coworker who is about to have a baby, and once again they chatted to me like I was an old friend. There was obvious affection between them and genuine feeling for customers who came in while I was there too, as they asked people about their lives and played with their dogs and children. I already feel like a valued regular and can’t wait to spend more time there and maybe even get my picture on the wall!Oh, and the coffee was delicious too!!

Popped in for a coffee- loved the quirky decor-very relaxed place with lots of colour! I had a turmeric coffee which was spot on and also tried the beetroot/ ginger/ musk -both where very palatable.I brought some kenya roasted beans done on site by Debs the owner to take home and enjoy.. good selection of food and the knowledge of various coffees is second to none! Happy polite service...loved it!

Wow what a coffee shop! The most quirkiest and unique place. The decor matches the bright personable staff, they are well knowledgeable and the coffee is exceptional!

I cannot express how much this amazing coffee shop has brightened up our lives, since opening. My children absolutely love it here and regularly enjoy the delightful hot chocolate ( with a choice of syrups, bubblegum is a current favourite ) and the Golden Turmeric latte is just the pick me up needed. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly and willing to help in anyway possible to make sure you have a positive lovely experience. There are a range of places to sit inside and enjoy all this, whether you want an intimate private conversation or to be sat in the heart of the shop, there is even outdoor seating ( weather permitting ) all in all, I can not recommend this place enough and if you are lucky enough to visit on a Friday or Saturday, you absolutely have to try the cruffins!

Excellent coffee. Excellent cakes. Excellent service super great place to visit with friends and family for a catch up and coffee with yummy food during the day. Also recently attended a Murder Mystery event in the evening which was the most fun! very well executed I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Melbourne to anyone I'll be back soon!

Thank goodness we have Melb in Lichfield! Debs’ coffee experience and knowledge is second to none, but it comes without the hipster ponce. Always a warm welcome and we love how the team take time to get to know their customers. The coffee is good, really good!! As well as drinking it in house we use their beans at home and they come with us on holidays now for our aero press. Yum.Food and cakes are spot on. Personal favourite is sunshine porridge after the gym and the lovely bagels. Debs and Andrew are also creating a friendly little community. We’ve had some lovely chats with people we wouldn’t normally get to meet. Oh and the 80s prom night murder mystery..... yassss.

I've always been a big believer in the importance of supporting local businesses and am more than happy to support this one. It's been a wonderful addition to the city and I adore this place. The coffees are truly delicious and frankly, I wouldn't go anywhere else now. The owners are wonderful, truly welcoming and knowledgeable. You can tell this is their passion and that's something they've managed to instill in all of their staff. They are all kind, hard working people and it's nice to be able to acknowledge that even if by way of a review.

We do like the Melbourne, Lichfield is "blessed" with numerous coffee houses, but to be fair (i dont count costa or the neros) only a couple are as relaxed and welcoming as the Melbourne....... always good coffee, nice cake and friendly staff - you wont be disappointing

Not only is there always a cool selection of food available, they also make their own syrups (my fav is turkish delight!) A lot of vegan selections but also non vegan food for omnivores too!

Me and my husband are regular visitors to Melbourne as we can't get enough of the beautiful coffee, cakes and customer service. The staff can't do enough for their customers! Always very welcoming, friendly and will make an effort to get to know people- a far cry from other local coffee shops. A quirky place to get coffee and in no way pretentious, possibly the most relaxed atmosphere you'll find in Lichfield.

Met some friends here as it was new. Clearly from the moment of arrival it became apparent if you don’t have a ‘quirky’ way about you, you are NOT welcome. The proprietor was obnoxious, rude and self-righteous. Do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs. There are plenty of wonderful cafes in the beautiful city of Lichfield with a warm welcome and non judgemental. This approach to customer service is not suited to Lichfield and more expectant in London.

Melbourne is a truly individual coffee shop. All of the staff are invariably kind polite and helpful. The coffee is excellent and the cakes are to die for. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I always arrange to meet friends here - staff are coffee connoisseurs and I love the fact you can chose your blend. Atmosphere great inside, though little snug but when it’s sunny the outside benches are a heat trap. Toasties in offer are great.

Melbourne is an independent and local business that cares about fair trade and having ethical products. We love Melbourne, Fridays are not the same if I do not meet my bestie and her doggie in Melbourne for lunch.

I came in the other day after not visiting for a while to see fresh faced new staff, I was pleasantly greeted by a young lady of mixed nationality, I believe her name was Fabio? But I would like to say regardless of her name,she went above and beyond to cater for me and made me feel so welcome, would highly recommend!

This café was recommended to us by Jake of the Yoshi handbag company. It is quirky, unusual and comfortable. The coffee isn’t bad either nor the cake. A good time was had by all.

Great place to relax with a drink & snack, lots to choose from. Tried the Matcha Latte and Filthy Cherry Bakewell Brownies, also the Turmric Latte. The best i ever had and can't wait to try more. Very friendly & helpful staff. Free Wi Fi too.

I have visited Melbourne coffee in Lichfield on numerous occasions and without exception always get a warm welcome, delicious coffee and tempting treats. This includes great vegan choices too. I love the eclectic yet stylish interior with a “cool and groovy” but relaxing vibe! An independent joy!!

The Melbourne is one of my favourite places in Lichfield,fantastic staff and Great atmosphere. They have tap water in the fridge for refils rather than bottled water which is brilliant. Good food, great drinks, just a brilliant place to go. Love it!

Café now relocated to larger premises in Bird Street. Get away from the national chain coffee shops and pay a visit Melbourne where the friendly atmosphere is evident as soon as you enter this quirky café. The coffee is the best in town and there are many home made cakes to enjoy. When the weather is fine enjoy your cup in the sunshine on the benches waiting for you outside the entrance door.

I was looking for somewhere to get a quick coffee and cake and stumbled across this place and very glad I did. The coffee was very good quality and the staff were friendly. It is more modern than most cafes in Lichfield so it makes a nice change.

Popped in and had a delicious flat white with a Rwandan single origin, followed by a decaf flat white which was one of the best decaf coffees I've ever had. Had a nice chat to Debbie the owner and barista Paul, both extremely welcoming. Would recommend to anyone and everyone!

Love this place, so does our doggo as he always gets a tasty treat and a cuddle! The coffee is sooooo good! Definitely recommend the latte with almond milk and the avocado bagel!

Popped in for a coffee with my cousin who had not been for some time. She highlighted a lot of small improvements that had been made since her last visit such as arrangement and quality of furnishings, Expanded menu and decor.

I am from US and was staying in Lichfield for almost all of last year. I sadly did not discover this amazing place till halfway through my stay but man was I happy when I did! First, I cannot have dairy or soy... The fact that they had almond milk was fantastic but that they also had coconut milk seriously made my freaking day! I finally had a little comfort of home In Lichfield. And can we talk about the Cruffins?!?!? Amazing!

I loved taking a trip to lichfield from derby. Just for the awesome coffee and unique baked goodies.

This is by far our favourite cafe to visit, not just in Lichfield. The staff really make it, always so friendly and helpful. The coffee is amazing and there's always something really tasty to choose from, I usually have the museli with warm coconut milk for breakfast. It's so hard to find somewhere dog friendly and this is the best place ever, with lots of free fuss and treats. Melbourne welcomes everyone and doesn't judge, really wish everywhere was like this place!

We absolutely love Melbourne and visit regularly. The staff are always friendly, the food always yummy and the drinks are to die for! My personal favourite is a Turmeric Latte with a posh toastie (usually Sauerkraut) . So happy that we have such a fab place in Lichfield!

I literally won’t drink coffee from anywhere else. Melbourne’s bevs might seem a tad expensive on the surface but you get what you pay for. I mean, educate yourself, ugh.

Nice coffee and pastel de natas but I really don't like dog owners who think it is ok to let their dogs brush against you - and I don't think it hygienice for cafes to allow dogs inside....

My friend loved the cakes and coffee. I had a toasted cheese sandwich which was rather expensive for an OK sandwich. There was no side salad offered or even a small salad garnish. Some staff rather laid back and took a while to serve when they weren't actually occupied. Nice and cosy inside with a slight boho ambience.

Friendly, chatty staff. Good range of cakes, including plenty of gluten free and vegan options. The Christmas brownie was super rich and yummy. Fun, quirky decor.

I ordered a bagel with bruschetta topping. What I got was raw onion on toast with a teeny bit of chopped tomato and balsamic vinegar. No garlic. No basil. It must have cost about 60p to make. I was charged nearly £5 - difficult to read prices on board but £10.50 for bruschetta and cheese and onion toastie. Poor show all round.

We arrived on a wet, cold day. We want because of the good reviews. My husband is a is a coffee drinker, I'm not a coffee. We placed our order and on my mentioning how cold I was the waitress came out with a hot water bottle covered with a home made cover.

Melbourne is a fantastic hidden gem in Lichfield. Debbie and her team are really knowledgable and passionate about the coffee they offer. I am always made to feel welcome and my two young children love coming in for a cake! Their is a good vegan offering and as my daughter has a milk allergy I know I can't go wrong as most of the cakes are milk free.

I travel all over the world for my job and drink a lot of coffee and this is still the best place I've been to. Great coffee, wonderful staff and the owners are incredible. Feels like you're a guest in a friendly home. Great vibe and the decor is awesome, if you visit try to find all the little hidden graffiti.

I don't drink coffee...or at least I didn't before I had a flat white from Melbourne! Fantastic coffee, really tasty cakes and a brilliant 'lite bites' menu featuring some great vegan options. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and fun...and always make us feel at home, including my two small children who are always made to feel like super special customers!

Love this place & the staff were just delightful! We had a stall at a food festival down the road & they looked after us so well throughout the weekend; bringing food & drink out to us. Beautiful turmeric porridge with fresh flowers. Loved the tea platypus also!

This is a really down to earth, people place. I don't drink coffee, but the tea and cake is great It has a wonderful atmosphere and is not yet another 'big chain'. The manager really understands coffee and is happy to admit she is a coffee snob! Great place to meet and chat, no rushing you out. Just like a front room

Forget Starbucks and Costa The illustrious, knowledgeable Debs makes this place a must visit. THE best coffee in town. And her daily bakes are exquisite.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are so welcoming and the coffee is absolutely delicious! By far the best I’ve ever tasted. In fact I favour it over the more expensive chains you’ll find elsewhere in the town centre. I’d rather my money go some way to help support a local business because I know I’m also getting a much tastier drink!

As a vegan I am catered for beyond imagination! These guys and girls know their stuff and always without fail serve with a smile on their faces. Very friendly and welcoming staff, always open to suggest and explain new ideas without preaching on the super values of this and that condiment. For example, the turmeric iced coffee was very welcome recently for my wife's dairy free diet.

We visit Lichfield often and always stop for a coffee. On this particular day we happened to walk past ‘Melbourne’ and thought we would give it a go. In all honesty the design and style of this place was a bit too much for me, although I can see what they’re trying to achieve with a unique and quirky coffee house, but my God the coffee was amazing! I had a flat white and it was fantastic! I only wished I had another...I also had a brownie which I couldn’t finish, it left a strange taste in my mouth but the flat white well and truly made up for this. As a coffee snob I was very impressed. My partner had a Latte and was equally impressed, again he isn’t easily pleased! Well done Melbourne we will definitely visit again!
