We ordered a take away and gave clear instructions to our address - the driver called shouting in an aggressive manner as he could not find the property - he was sat almost outside, he just needed to turn into the road we had specified on the delivery notes. After much aggressive shouting from him in the telephone where he would not allow us to speak I walked to the end of the courtyard to retrieve the delivery. I was greeted with more aggression when I asked how I could have made the delivery instructions easier for him - he then sped off. We called the restaurant to report this and the person who answered the phone claimed to be the ‘new person’ and also the ‘only person working on the premises’ - we asked for the managers name and the person hung up on us. To really add to this experience, when we opened up the food, the order was incorrect. … this isn’t the first time this has happened with this same driver (in a white car).. but it will be the last as we won’t be ordering from this restaurant again.

We love to eat here as a family whenever we have the opportunity. The food tastes great and there's a wide variety on the menu. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and it is a very relaxed place to eat out.

Lovely food great portion sizes stuffed delicious will most definitely order again. So tasty beautiful ingredients 😋

Poor quality food no flavour never as asked for, stopped using, one prime example spicy chips served with onions and cooked nicely next time just paprika on top! Bland food oily and no effort

Disfruté de mi comida aquí, aunque mi esposa no estaba demasiado impresionada. En primer lugar, no hay nada de malo en el comedor, el servicio o las medidas de Covid. La comida comenzó bien ya que hubo un poco de esfuerzo extra con la bandeja de chutney. Pasamos de entrantes y seguimos directo a la red principal. Mi Naga era genial, pero desafortunadamente el karai de la esposa estaba un poco amargo y el pollo estaba seco. Curiosamente, aunque los platos se veían muy similares, los gustos eran completamente diferentes. No había nada malo con nuestros lados que se mantenían calientes en una mesa muy agradable. Un par de otras decepciones porque no tenían cerveza sin alcohol ni kulfi.

Very good menu choice and great tasty food. Service was excellent but I think the cost of soft drinks ( cordial ) was overpriced . Such a shame that we were the only people dining in, but the take away business was reasonably busy. We would happily recommend this restaurant.

Had take away from here for delivery, ordered online advised hour wait which worked well for us, however food arrived half hour early. Most of it was cold, the onion Bhajis were dry and overcooked, the poppadoms had a detergent taste to them and only came with the yoghurt and mint dip. Both chicken dishes were cold with chewy chicken,. Overall opinion not impressed at all. Would not recommend

Ordered food for collection, and arrived home with the food cold, naan breads very hard also. Chicken Biriyani was meant to come with vegetable curry which we always have and has been nice in the past but came with a different sauce which was horrible. The manager was very argumentative on the phone and wouldn't accept the fact the food was cold and not what we ordered. Hung up on us, will not be returning.

clearly this place has gone down hill hugely! Food over 30 minutes late, arrived STONE COLD! Manager extremely rude... arguing with the fact he knows the food is hot.. unless your sat at my house I don’t know how you can argue this. Will never go back!

The food last night was horrible the coconut nan was disgusting iv never had yellow coconut looked and tasted yuk my lamb in my curry was horrible I only had half been up since 4 am being sick and going loo and to cap it all we were in and out within 3/4 hour no way food was freshly cooked never going again

Wonderful tasting Indian food with a pleasant staff who catered to our needs. Restaurant atmosphere is your typical traditional family owned. Very much enjoyed the variety of dishes we ordered and naan breads!

We ate a mediocre meal, poppodums, tikka missala and naan bread with a couple of glasses of house wine at £5 each, which was as unreasonable and unsatisfying as our meal. In a nutshell - really poor and disappointing.

We came here as a family and quite frankly, we won't be coming again. The staff were miserable and the service incredibly slow despite there being hardly any patrons that night.We had to ask for them to take our order of poppadoms and then again for our main meal. The good was satisfactory although disappointing that they didn't service lime pickle with the poppadoms. We wouldn't visit again.

We visited Megna for the first time with some friends and the quality of food was amazing I have eaten in some of the best Indian restaurants and have to say this was up there with the best of them. Staff were very friendly and priced very reasonable.

Having recently moved to the area I am keen to try all the fabulous food in Chipping Sodbury. This restaurant offers free local delivery and was absolutely delicious.

I can honestly say that in all the years that I have been using Aziz’s restaurants I have never left disappointed. This coupled with the fact that I have always gone to them with high expectations shows fantastic consistency of quality and service.

Great food take away or sit in good attentive service and very good value for money. A very good choice of food beers and wines never disappointed

Really disappointed with the last few orders for delivery, usually the food is tastey and the meat is really good quality but recently the meat has been dry and the sauce on my chicken rogan has been terrible,the food arrives quickly (and I mean quick) yet its always cold, as loyal customers local to the area that the restaurant is located, we have continued to order with the hope that the food would be back to its usual good standards but unfortunately after another bad take away it doesn’t appear to be improving,we won’t be ordering again.

I decided to order on line with them instead of the Tudor Raj because of Victorian Day in the town. What a mistake. i ordered at 6pm so that my meal would arrive by 7pm allowing for the driver to arrive. Nothing has happened. I've been given excuse after excuse by the restaurant and even went down to complain. The manager told me the delivery driver was on his way and I left and went home. No driver had turned up. I wish I'd driven to the Tudor Raj as I would've eaten a meal by now and would've relaxed and enjoyed my evening. They owe me £20 and I deserve a refund. I won't be using them again and going to take my family back to the Tudor Raj. Disgraceful!!!!!!!

I been here many times. Service is excellent, and food is really good. I recently took visitors from USA - they thought it was first-class. The Megna also provides takeaways - from time of order (by phone) to collection is usually about 30 minutes. If you want good attention it's probably better to avoid Saturday evenings (as with most good restaurants they get busy)

Nuestra primera visita al restaurante. Después de leer algunos comentarios, que no eran muy buenas nos desanime tratando este lugar. Sin embargo, alguien nos lo recomendaron y nos alegramos de que lo probamos. Preciosa india comida, recién hecho. El servicio también es muy bueno. Es un gran restaurante y la mitad del restaurante llenó rápidamente por el tiempo que habíamos terminado nuestra comida. Obviamente, un restaurante popular. Sin duda comer fuera allí de nuevo.

Mi familia y yo hemos tenido una comida para llevar unos curry desde aquí, y ha sido en el restaurante dos veces recientemente debido a tudor raj cierre y tengo que decir que ha sido deliciosa y el servicio cada vez amable y rapida. Ahora es ir a mi nuestro nuevo lugar de la India.

Pésimo servicio. Nos tomó unos 30 minutos para que la orden de ser incluso tomado fuera de las bebidas, el orden y la comida tardó más de una hora.

He estado aquí una vez antes, y juraron no volver. Que estaban increíblemente ofensivo cuando me reveló mi mejor amigo musulmán se casó con una blanca inglesa pero admite su ser ateo honrando el Ramadán. Hey. Ayer el buen lugar estaba lleno, así que fuimos al curry. La comida era sosa y ambiente cálido. Entonces nos presenta con la factura. No nos lo pidió. Le pregunté acerca de tener un postre o un café. Me dijeron que estaban demasiado ocupados para cosas como esa. No hace falta decir que realmente es mi último viaje allí!

Are here on Friday night, as a fan of a hot curry you all to often find restaurants adding a hot sauce of some sorts and the food as a result being terrible.... not here, I opted for a "slightly hotter than usual" vindaloo and my friend had a madras, both curries were cooked exactly as we hoped and combined with the obligatory few pints of kingfisher resulted in a great start to the night..... looking forward to our next visit

I have eaten at this restaurant on two occasions. I have thoroughly enjoyed my meals.The menu offers some dishes that I have not seen before but they were excellent. On both visits the restaurant was very quiet but as mentioned the food was piping hot and great flavour. The service was good with fairly normal prices. It seems to attract either very good or very poor reviews but I was not disappointed and would eat here again when in the area

I have been eaten this restaurant so many times. Never being disappointed. Food is very delicious. Service is excellent. Nice and clean environment.

Tried this out first time yesterday. Usually don't write reviews but our food was so bland, unseasoned and uncared for it was actually the worst curry both myself and my husband have ever eaten. DONT EAT HERE!!We ordered take away so I'm not sure if we get a less preferential service but the food was truly disappointing. My husband had the chilli fish but failed to taste much chilli and I ordered a vegetable madras but specifically asked for it to be mid-way between a vindaloo and a madras which they didn't have a problem with. However what I got was it even as hot asa madras. It was totally unseasoned and had no depth of flavour. The bindi bhaji and cauliflower bhaji were the same - totally tasteless. The bindi actually tasted watery. A complete car crash on a plate. Will never go here again. Disgusting. Avoid.

Cold reheated popoadums. Lime pickle soft and not at all spicy. Rest of pickles bland and tired. Main course, Luke warm, tasteless, no spice. Onion bahjis appeared to be refried or recooked as they turned to dust on the inside when cut and the exterior was rock hard and impossible to eat, had texture of gravel. Waiter offered to take them off the bill without being asked. Staff lovely, very pleasant and obliging. Didn't finish the meal as it was so tasteless Very disappointed. First visit since last over ten yrs ago due to poor meal. Thought we'd try it due to positive reviews. Sadly it was a let down. Will not be back.

Do not use online delivery service as I've booked a time slot and the food has arrived over an hour early! Arranged to eat with company now food is cold and ruined.

I have eaten here a few times now. Not a resident of chipping but generally stay with family whilst passing through. The food is always excellent and the service is brilliant. Nothing is ever to much trouble. On a couple of occasions we have been pretty late and a large group, this is never a problem. Perfect night. Would definitely recommend.

We had dinner here as its one of our favourite places in chipping sodbury. Our food was lovely. There is a new girl working there who hats off to her, she dealt with a letcherous really well.

Great Staff, Friendly and good service. Lots to choose from, Mild to Hot dishes and at good prices. Easy to find , Warm and Clean surroundings, Great for events or just as a couple. Would reccomend to all.

Carte beaucoup trop chargée, 2 plats ont été commandés pourtant différents sur le descriptif, à l'arrivée c'était les mêmes plats ! J'ai compris que la viande était cuite à part et la sauce rajoutée par dessus !! conclusion très fade ! De plus on insiste pour que l'on prenne des entrées.

We had a takeaway from Megna on Thursday night. We ordered over the phone and picked up 25 minutes later. There was no need to wait around for collection as it was ready on arrival.The food was very nice and tasted authentic. We went for Onion Bhajis, Lamb Bhuna, Lamb Jalfrezi and a chicken Tikka Masala 3 pilau rice and 1 peshwari naan. I had the jalfrezi and was very impressed, it was nice and hot (although I could have eaten it hotter) the meat was tender and wasn’t at all chewy. The Onion Bhajis were a good quality and full of flavour. I didn’t try the Tikka Masala but my fiancée and her mum shared it and said it was lovely. The Masala was sweet and tasted nice. The Lamb Bhuna was equally nice and I would recommend it for those of you who aren’t spice lovers. It was also very reasonably priced costing £36.60 in total (once the 10% collection discount was applied). The restaurant is situated inside a lovely old building so is a nice place to visit. Overall a very nice takeaway, we will definitely be ordering from here again and will be trying out the restaurant too.

The food here is really nice and the service is good - the reason we don't use it more is that it's a little pricey and the food isn't so amazing that it's worth paying the extra regularly. Having said that, we always enjoy our meals from Megna so you won't be disappointed in that regard.

well used curry house and yet again blown away with service and food, always like to try something different and yet again great food, Staff always willing to help with hints on different food and tastes all catered for, The staff very friendly. The foof is of a wide choice from different areas with different levels of heat or sweetness, all round great evening out.

We had dinner at the Megna on New Year's Eve before it got really busy. The service as always was excellent as was the food. We really enjoyed it and we're glad we made the right choice.

Went with two work friends and my wife for a meal - impressed with the food again - friends' first time at the Megna - they both commented on how good the meal was.Indian food comes with many expectations of heat and spiciness and for me at least Megna. manages to balance the two very well. In many ways indian food can't be all things to all people - which is (for me) worth bearing in mind when reading reviewsFor my main course, I had chicken tikka with a naan and veg curry - and it was pitched nicely and was delicious. - I had a taste of the other dishes ordered and each was lovely. - the chicken chaat was a nice starter - not too spicy and a good portionReally worth a visit - clean, with excellent customer service and not bad wine either.

I was unsure about booking a table here as the reviews that I read were a bit inconsistent. And so was the experience as it turned out. The first impression is good. I like restaurants that have a lounge area for guests to wait for the rest of thier party. This set us off to a good start. The room was a bit cramped, and got quite loud during the evening - so that it was hard for me to talk to others on the table. The meal was "solid" - in that it was definitely not bad, but does not stick out in my mind as especially good either. I didn't get the impression that either staff or the chefs were especially proud of their work. In spite of this we did enjoy the evening - which might have had more to do with the company than the meal.

All in all a nice place, good service, friendly waiters. the spices seem to be thin on the ground. i don't mean it's not chilli i mean just using enough spices. my salmon on its own was delicious but the gravy they poured on it (i don't believe they cooked it in the gravy) was bland. not enough oomph. shame as nice portion with potatoes, tasty rice and salad. my husband had vegetable balti and he said it was very tasty and our son had Jhan chicken which again he said was good. garlic naan was actually the best thing. Chappati's were a disappointment. chewy and bland. onion bhajees very good but musroom and onion bhajees, again, bland in my humble opinion. others might not agree so please do go there and give it a go.

Just tried to order a delivery meal, the man on the phone was rude and when I asked if the 10% for a delivered curry over £20 had been applied he said there is no offer , as I have the pictures from the website offering this I decided not to bother using them and ordered from zing a instead which was lovely and still cheaper than Megan even if they had given me the advertised discount , so beware if you order expecting the deals advertised.

This restaurant is situated in a lovely historic building in Chipping Sodbury which was once the home of Edward Jenner, discoverer of the smallpox vaccine. I have visited this restaurant very many times, and the food is consistently good. I've never had anything to complain about. The staff are also very nice and eager to please. They also have private rooms for group bookings, so if you visit on the same night as a rowdy party, there is less chance of it spoiling your evening, as in so many other places. I often have takeaways from here, too. The portions are excellent. It is not the cheapest restaurant in the vicinity, bur certainly one of the best.

I went for my dinner a couple of nights ago whilst working away and even though it was almost empty when i arrived at 17:30 the staff where very pleasant and polite. The food was lovely very tasty and not over spiced. I am not to sure how fresh every thing was but i would recommend if you are passing through.

Decided to try Megna as our usual curry house is currently shut and am disappointed to say that the combination of slow service and curries that were bland and tasteless means I won't be visiting again. How can 5 different curries all look the same?

Wonderful selection of tasty curries and starters. We've eaten in and had amazing service from the very friendly staff. We've had numerous take aways too and have enjoyed a few minutes in the lovely foyer next to an open fire in winter enjoying spicy snacks when collecting.Not the cheapest but not expensive either and the portions are generous and filling . We always order slightly too much! Even the side dishes are good portions!Loads to choose from and everything we've had so far has been top notch.Highly recommended.

Visited this place on a Saturday night ordered two mixed grills which is the favourite Indian dish for both of us . As we started to tuck into our main coarse we both looked at each other in disbelief how tasteless the food was. It was like the meat had been sprinkled with a watered down spice and not been marinated atoll ,the lamb was very tuff as well . Having finished the main meal we were given the bill that was not even asked for and not even given the option to choose any afters that given the standard of the main coarse we would have declined anyway. Will be voting with are feet and not returning here .

First let me say the food was amazing BUT we were In and out within half hour I've never been so rushed ,before we had swallowed our Pappadums or starter was there and as we put our knifes down our mains were there never even asked if we wanted a sweet or another drink before the bill arrived when I said it was a bit rushed I was told it's because we are busy

Visited this restaurant tonight,, with family including my 20 month old grandson. I have been a few times before and food and service always excellent but tonight the staff were so kind to my grandson. Thank you very much, kindness goes a long way.

Went here with my two children this evening after reading the positive reviews, we were very happy with the service and food.Good quality popadoms and pickles, very tasty curry dishes, excellent rice and tadka dal and the nan bread was delicious.The children had an omelette and scampi and chips and enjoyed it.Fair price for good food and good service, will be visiting again!

We went here as a group of guys, we didn't sit down till 10.30 the waiters were very accommodating and looked after us very well. The food we had was exceptional with no complaints from the 12 of us.Would use again and recommend without doubt.

My partner and I eat here regularly, both to take away and eat in, and it never disappoints. An expansive menu to suit a variety of tastes. Good value for money. The chaps that work there are always very accommodating. Deliciousness!

The Megna has become a bit of a regular haunt for us. Every Time we go the staff are courteous and helpful and the food is prompt hot and tasty! There's always too much of it for me but it makes a nice meal the next day. This weekend was no exception!

Excellent food and friendly service - great choice of menu with lots of interesting new flavours. All the food was very fresh, piping hot and well-presented.

A Christmas Meal with 8 friends, good selection available and my chicken dish was good and spicy, everything else was good enough. The place itself is a bit odd, with two separate dining rooms, not the best atmosphere but ok.....Beer not bad, all in all ok.

Our first visit to the Megna but it will not be our last. Very quiet on a Monday evening but nice welcome and good service. The food was very good: we had Chicken and lamb dishes, both well spiced, the flavour cooked through the meat and the lamb lean and tender, and the nan was also excellent. The menu had a lot of dishes we want to try on return visits.

megna is very good restruant I love indian food. there survive is very good and food is excellent.some time I go in the restruant with my friends. there's party room is very nice.

This place we tried for the first time as a takeaway. It was ok, very average, lacking in flavour, not much spice in the spicey stuff and actually quite expensive in comparison to other Chinese take ours. I've given it 3 stars, which actually should be less, however they did deliver on time :-s

Large family gathering well served by staff. Food is various shades of Asian/Chinese and was very good. Based in old Georgian building in centre of Chipping Sodbury. Well worth a visit plus does very good take away.

Visited Megna last summer (2013). Overall decor was quite bland, chairs weren't particularly comfortable.Waiters were nice to face but miserable when not with customers which made you feel uncomfortable, especially when constantly hovering around trying to make you buy drinks. Ordered a chicken dish.... Got served a vegetarian one... Didn't say anything as it looked quite nice! And it was nice, not mind blowing but nice, but that still doesn't change the fact it wasn't what I ordered. As we were young I felt the waiters didn't give a crap about us. Won't be returning, Tudor raj up the road is 10x better.

We eat at this restaurant regularly and are never disappointed. The food is excellent quality always cooked to your exact requirements. The staff are helpful and ways friendly. He tables are packed a little tightly for my liking but I can understand that they need to cater for many. Definitely worth a visit and much much better than the other like restaurant in the town.

Thought we would give this a try, wish we hadn't. Not brilliant service, had to ask for a fork a few time before one came my way. Poppadoms and pickles were lovely, coke completely flat and warm, starter and main course both lukewarm not hot. The absolute horrific bit was when the waiter that clears the tables came along, the same man who had just handed me a fork to eat my meal with. He wheeled a dirty plastic trolley into the dining room, the cloth on said trolley was covered in old food. He then proceeded to scrape peoples leftover food onto another plate in front of all the customers and food was going everywhere. He then used his HAND to scrape rice and food out of bowls onto the "scrap" plate and patted the whole lot down with his hand. This was the very same hand he had just used to hand me my fork!!! I was horrified and had to walk out into the foyer as it actually made me feel sick. I did speak with the management and said perhaps it would be more discreet if the plates were taken into the kitchen to be scraped. One of the waiters apologised and seemed to listen to my concerns but the other waiter just made excuses and did not seem bothered by this practice at all. I know they were not bothered because they walked into the room and saw this going on and seemed happy for it to continue until I commented. It makes me question what their hygiene is like behind the scenes away from customers if they are happy to do this in front of customers. Not happy and would certainly never go back.

I had one of the Nepalese dishes. I really would have preferred a vegetarian version, but my suspicions were aroused by the fact the vegetarian hariali was described as containing "mixed vegetables". On enquiring, my fears were confirmed, this dish is indeed based on standard frozen mixed vegetables! Sorry, that is not good enough! The chicken hariali was good, with a flavourful sauce. Unfortunately, our experience was soured by the intransigence of the staff, who absolutely refused to take our money individually, even though we were happy to work out what we all owed before going up to the counter to pay. This caused difficulties because a number of us, who had very long journeys home (more than an hour's driving), wanted to pay and leave as soon as possible, rather than have to participate in a complex exercise of collecting money, juggling with change, etc. One staff member actually said openly that he could not be bothered to spend the time to deal with us separately. This is one of the most contemptuous attitudes towards customers that I have met in a long time.

Accommodating various styles, Indian, Chinese, Thai and Nepalese, this restaurant really gives you a dilemma. I plumbed for Indian and was not disappointed. The decor is pleasant, the place is clean and the staff are very friendly. The food is excellent and matched by the service. Highly recommended.

Megna well deserves more than one visit because it's hard to do justice to the menu in one trip. We particularly like the Nepalese options - not so easy to find outside cities. However, the core food is well cooked and matched by great service. The quality doesn't drop on the take-away service either. You'll enjoy the experience.

We have eaten here many times and thoroughly enjoy it. The staff are very accommodating and friendly, the food is always beautifully cooked and good value to boot. It's definitely my favourite pan Asian for some miles.

This is the perfect restaurant for my family as it caters for all tastes providing Indian, Chinese and Nepalese. My dad doesn't eat anything spicy and enjoys the beef chowmein and vegetable spring rolls whilst the rest of us enjoy different varieties of curries ranging from tandori dishes, vegetarian and hot dishes. All are cooked well, and slightly more spicy than other Indian restaurants we've eaten at but still full of flavour and taste. They have recently increased their prices but it is justified due to the great service and great food. The takeaways are just as tasty and we often get a few poppodums thrown in for nothing! Would certainly recommend.

Note for Trip Advisor: Megna is in Chipping Sodbury not Bristol but doesn't come up under a search for Chipping Sodbury...Now for our thoughts...Tried Megna (Pan Asian) for the first time last night and we were very impressed.Having had a tasteful refit since it was The Sultan it is also a big improvement on the food in the latter years before the change of owner.Staff are very attentive and keen to give their customers a good experience. We ordered Indian & Nepalese, our daughter opted for Chinese and all meals were very tasty & good size portions.Megna also do takeaways (10% off menu price I believe).We have eaten at many many Indian restaurants over the years and this one will now be a regular for us with the added bonus of being very close to home!

Visited this Pan Asian restaurant three time in the last year and each time the quality of food and service has met our high expectation. On the last occasion we decided, as a group, to sample Nepalese starters. These were quite different to our normal choice from the Indian menu. We were not disappointed and we will always consider choosing from the Nepalese menu for starters,at least, in future.One of our party is quite knowledgeable in Asian cuisine. His opinion of the Pangash fish dish was that it was outstanding. This is recommendation indeed!Another chose a vegetable korma and this also was considered the best ever tasted and particularly appreciated the consistency of the dish.When we first visited Megna we were a little sceptical at the ability of one restaurant to produce such a diverse menu of high quality however, this has been completely dispelled and it will encourage us to make a wider choice in future. The staff are friendly and attentive without being over bearing and were able to remember some of our choices from a previous visit. Thanks to the staff of the Megna and particularly the chef.

My husband and I moved to the area 5 years ago and had been struggling to find a worthy alternative to our old trusted Indian restaurant near the village where we use to live. We only discovered Megna about 18 months ago and have not stopped going back ever since. The food is excellent, especially the Indian specialities. The staff remembered us from our first visit and are always happy to make recommendations for us to try new dishes. Personally we like the fact that Megna only use fresh ingredients and don't cook with salt like a lot of Indian restaurants which means you can taste the spices and many flavors without the overwhelming salty taste. I would certainly recommend anyone trying this largely undiscovered restaurant.
