Although I live in the area have never been here before but always wanted to. Yesterday a friend and I decided to have a mooch round Aberdyfi and visit the sales for bargains. To start our visit we had a light lunch in the Medina Coffee House, wow, Turkey, stuffing and cranberry panini absolutely gorgeous. Add to that one of the best tasting Mochas I've had in ages. Reasonably priced with lovely friendly staff I could see why it was full to bursting and promised myself another visit soon. I highly recommend this coffee house, well worth a visit.

We had a sandwich was lovely and the bread was very fresh. The coffee wasn't delivered in a paper cup which was a little disappointing as I associate those with takeaways and this wasn't! The food was also on a paper plate. Didn't spoil the experience but if you're expecting more than just paper, then that's good choice!

This friendly 60 year old work experience lad found us a table, and gave us a menu (maybe 2 next time ?). Also note the special blackboard. Problem 1 - Quiche or salad ? Current spouse opted for a chicken salad. She constantly raved over the quantity and quality of the chicken. (What happened to not talking with your mouth full ?) But take it from me, she enjoyed it. Problem 2 which quiche ? It is not often you get a choice of 3? I went for the Mediterranean veg + Feta. I could happily have it again. The cake fridge is not for those on a diet. Just an impressive home made variety. It is a touch tricky to spot it down a narrow alleyway, but so worthwhile.

We used to love visiting The Medina, however having recently had lunch there it's not somewhere I'd hurry back to. I had a jacket potato with prawns and lemon mayonnaise for £7.95, it was luke warm, served on a paper plate no salad garnish just a slice of tired looking lemon. I don't see how they can justify the prices they are charging, and to add insult to injury they request that you clear your own table just like McDonald's!! The prices on the menu have risen dramatically, but the quality of the food doesn't reflect the increase. Serving food on paper plates if you sit outside is lazy and not very eco friendly at all, because if they have any grease or food stains on they're not recyclable! There has been quite a few nice new places to eat open up in Aberdovey recently so competition is tight, beware Medina don't get complacent people expect better value for money and better service.

Was on a family holiday in Tywyn and struggling eating anywhere due to my coeliac disease. Came across Medina and so glad that I did. Met Liz, who went above and beyond to make sure I could eat safely, from preparing everything from scratch and with different utensils to avoid cross contamination - sounds overboard, but with any trace of gluten causing extreme side effects I was so completely reassured. Their business card states “Gluten-free Available”, but ‘coeliac safe available’ is more like it. What’s more, the food was very yummy and wish I had found this gem earlier in my stay. Thanks Liz & Peter.

We took a break up to Wales for my mums birthday this year and, with all the difficulties going on, we struggled to find an open cafe with the homemade cosy authentic feel that we were looking for. We came across medinas down a little alley and couldn’t have been more impressed. The entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming with handmade cakes on display as you walk in and incredibly friendly hospitality from, what I assume, are the owners. We opted for a tuna and cheese melt, prawn jacked with lemon mayo, a Mediterranean veg and feta panini and beans on toast for my little niece. The food was all delicious and tasted as fresh as could be. The paninis were served with crisps, which was a nice touch. The hosts were perfect and accommodating but not overbearing. We finished the visit with a paint your own teddy bear biscuit for my 3 year old niece which I would highly recommend as she loved this. On the way out we bought some fresh mince pies which were still a little warm from the fresh baking and they were stunning. Over all a wonderful visit and I would highly recommend this little cafe.

I visited this lovely coffee shop tucked away off the sea front on two occasions during my visit, and would have been back more if I had the time. On the first visit, we were quite a large group of people, the staff were so welcoming and friendly, arranging a way for us to all sit together. When ordering, I asked if any of their menu options were suitable for vegans or could be made that way, and the staff were so helpful, reviewing the allergen file with me, and allowing me to suggest a combination of ingredients to make a vegan friendly option. They also had soy milk available for drinks. I really felt they went above and beyond, their soup was not vegan, but they were more than happy to offer to make another soup for me to accompany my meal. The food was delicious, and very reasonable in price. As we expressed an eagerness to return the following day, they offered to reserve us a table as they tend to be busy, and expressed a genuine interest in what brought us to Aberdovey.I would definitely recommend this coffee shop, and if you are going for a sweet treat, the vegan salted caramel brownie was gorgeous!

My friends and I were staying in nearby Machcynllyth for the annual comedy festival and decided to head out to coastal Aberdyfi for a late breakfast. Medina's serves breakfast until 12 noon and provides outdoor seating, so seemed a great choice. They served a great full english - ideal set-up for a long drive home - and the girl at the counter was very friendly. Unfortunately it did take a long time to order as the restaurant was very busy and there was only one till...but with it being a gloriously sunny bank holiday Monday and the comedy festival attracting more people than usual to the area, I imagine that this was quite unusual.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth

Lovely little dog friendly cafe in the heart of the village. Warm welcome by the host and his friendly staff. Typical Welsh weather and unfortunately the biffolding doors were closed in July however will visit again when the sun is out Diolch
