This is a good, traditional dog friendly pub. Nice location and great for sport

We popped in to see if we could catch the Nottingham Forest game as my husband is an avid supporter, The friendly and helpful staff bent over backwards to accommodate our request! Even at the expense of upsetting a few other punters who were already watching a different game. However, the wonderful staff letters into the restaurant and put the game we wanted to see on The big screen. Fabulous service + my husband accidentally threw a pint all over the table.... The staff wouldn't even let us clean it up!

Decent food and drinks at very reasonable prices in a large, no-frills pub. Food stops being served at 19:30. Not a fan of the huge screens showing music videos permanently. Very dog friendly.

What a gem of a place, we visited the Royal mid January, great atmosphere, we where recommend the cheese plateau, it was amazing, fabulous place, thanks guys 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My cousin and I stopped here for lunch on boxing day. The staff were friendly, food was lovely. Well worth a visit. Warm, friendly and good atmosphere.

We waited 45 mins for our meals, steak pie with chips and vegetables, chicken burger with chips and salad. The steak was inedible as it was VERY tough, vegetables a tiny dish of peas, chips were good. Chicken burger was OKish. Nobody asked if food was OK, eventually found a member of staff who agreed to tell the chef who apparently agreed the meat was tough! Offered a free drink but we were leaving at that point. Can't comment on desserts as we were never offered a menu showing them.

Stopped here a couple of times with my family. Rooms are wonderfully decorated. Breakfast is amazing. There is a bar downstairs too which is the pub. You can’t hear anything from the pub downstairs either. Wouldn’t hesitate to stop here again. About 2 mins walk away from the beach. There is a coop a stones throw away. You have to park a couple seconds walk away though which i think is a fiver which is not a problem. Don’t feel tempted to park On the car park opposite. We did this our first time and got a fine as it’s got a parking eye. When the hotel what we’d done they tried to help. Staff are amazing. Stop here if visiting Barmouth. Dogs also Welcome x

Real diamond. Glad we popped in. The dog was allowed to stay under the table (other dogs were in). Excellent service, considering how busy it was! Great range of meals on the menu. I had a Fantastic Steak and Ale Pie (that the chef finished individually, to accommodate my egg allergy, thanks again chef). A Very Palatable Range of Fine Beers. Reasonable music, not too loud (which is good if you want to talk to the person you're with). Oh Yes and the Art on the walls and ceiling is worth a mention. And the full size snooker table (if you can get on it), - and Excellent service (worth mentioning twice!). So yes, if you're in Barmouth and in need of libation and refreshment, The Royal is for you!

Had an absolute fab couple of nights stay at The Royal in Barmouth. Would highly recommend this place for the great welcome, great staff, great atmosphere, great food and great accommodation. Hope to return.

Visited here on a short weekend away and stayed for the afternoon. Great service and atmosphere. We were a family of 5 adults and 2 kids and there were plenty of board games, connect 4 and crayons/pencils to keep the young un's occupied. Live music and food served here too.

Excellent dog friendly accomodation for a break by the sea. The staff were more than welcoming & helpful. Delicious breakfast & cooked as you requested. The pub has great atmosphere & serves really good food. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Can not fault this place. The staff, the atmosphere, the drinks, the food and the prices. Best food we'd had a in a long time. Portions huge but it was so good we didn't want to stop eating! We got the meat sweets from the burgers which were bloomin amazing. One of the top places to go in Barmouth and cannot wait for our next trip. 5 star!

We have just had the best meal ever. I had the absolutley amasing roast beef. So much beautifully cooked meat, four helpings of freshly cooked veg and home made yorkshire pudding, plus lots of gravy. All hot and served promtly. Absolutly delicious! My husband, who is coeliac, had the Gluten Free cheese burger with chips, colslaw, onion rings and salad. Again, a beautiful delicious meal. Top marks to the chef and kitchen staff. The bar staff and waitresses were very kind and friendly too. A real English pub and everything about it was fantastic, including the prices! Many thanks indeed for making our visit special.

Delightful establishment! Service, food, location and value for money all excellent. Resident artist, his artwork and decor so interesting and homely touches made our stay memorable.

Great place to stay, friendly, welcoming staff on arrival. Rooms lovely, clean and well equipped. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening entertainment and a tasty home cooked breakfast the next morning. The staff had even left a birthday card, balloon and bottle of wine in my room for my birthday, what a lovely touch!

I had a Dinner in this place and I must say it was good. I took a classic Beef Pie with some chips and two Pints of beer. Food and beer was just great.

We were made so welcome here, we had a gorgeous en suite bedroom which was dog friendly and the staff went out of their ways to cater for us as vegans. Our little whippet was allowed in the bar and the restaurant. Everyone was so friendly and we will definitively be staying there again when we are next in the area.

Can't recommend this pub highly enough, we popped in yesterday afternoon (2nd November) for some food after a lovely walk on the beach. The staff explained that the kitchen was closed for an hour for a break so we waited. The bar maid could not be more helpful to fit 7 of us and a dog, now for the food, it was amazing the best fish and chips I've had for a very long time. Once again highly recommend will visit again even though you're 2 1/2 hours away.

Can't comment of the rooms as we never stayed but can comment on the food and service... Great little pub well not so little..amazing friendly staff couldn't be more helpful. Supper dog friendly amazing friendly atmosphere and the selection of drinks and price shocked me for where it is.. 2 pints for £9 at normal times and happy (4) hours 4 till 8 on a Sunday Tuesday and Thursday was amazing same round £6.50 for two.... Cudnt recommended enough.

Have been to this pub several times over the years. The staff are always cheerful and friendly. Prices for both food and drink are excellent and the quality and portion size of the food us just wonderful. They put on live entertainment most weeks and also show live sporting events. Would highly recommend.

What a gem of a pub ,from outside snd the door you squeeze through you would expect a tiny pub .BIg shock ,it's huge .Went in a few times and staff on every occasion excellent .We did not eat but the plates coming out made us feel like we missed out .Take time to go into the top room to see the fantastic talent of an artist ,a quiet unassuming man we had brief words with .Altogether one of our favourite pubs in Barmouth

Stayed here for two nights last weekend. Had breakfast, late lunch and lots of drinks. Would visit here again in a heartbeat. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. We had breakfast earlier than usual on the Saturday due to my husband doing a swim. Paul and all of the staff couldn’t have been any more accommodating and friendly! Came back in the day for drinks and lunch. The food was fantastic! A really great atmosphere in the pub with both locals and holiday makers. The artwork around the pub is unique. They have games and drawing for kids and go above and beyond to make sure the kids are happy and welcomed, particularly when our girl decided to have a few meltdowns! What stood out most for me and our friends was the team. So friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter left her headphones in the room, she was obsessed with opening all the drawers and cupboards! The team contacted us, said they’d found them and posted them back to us. Simply put outstanding service and hospitality all round. Thanks so much for such an amazing visit, we will definitely be back in the future!

Brilliant pub, huge, quirky and dog friendly. A very long happy hour and large beer gardens, loved the place. The staff were brilliant and a very friendly crowd in there

Very simple. My self and my partner. Took a few days badly needed break. We had a couple of drinks before entering the Royal. For an evening meal. Which we think may of been apparent, to said bar staff at the time. We both we're very aware that a £20.00 was exchanged for 1 pint of lager and 1 large coke. We were given change for a £10. Note. After disputing, being ripped off. We we're made to feel in the wrong....We will never spend our money in this establishment again.

Beautiful Sunday lunch with generous portions. We prebooked in advance. It was a wet rainy day but we received a very warm welcome. Staff were very accommodating with my allergy. Sunday lunch was one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. My 4 year old had the kids Sunday lunch and it wasn’t far off what I’d serve an adult. We shared the Lemon meringue pie as couldn’t fit one in to myself! My only complaint was no cranberry or apple sauce. Would absolutely recommend!! I’ve uploaded a photo of the menu as struggled to find online

Absolutely perfect! We were a group of 15 and had a perfect order! Everything hot, delicious, cheap and quick! Service was amazing and we all played pool afterwards! Couldn’t recommend highly enough

We are on holiday and called in this pub to have lunch here today and it was very good. I'm ceilac so struggle to find a place that caters for gluten free needs. I can honestly say I felt very safe and comfortable eating in here today. Staff were all knowledgeable about the condition and were very helpful. Great choice of options and lovely home cooked food. Staff were very friendly and we all enjoyed our meals. We will definitely be returning and telling others about how lovely it was 😊

We were visiting friends on our holiday and they recommended The Royal for food and a drink. The bar and setting area was busy but it is worth booking ahead if you have a larger group. The food menu had plenty of options including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Also there is a children's menu as well. The service was very good considering it was a busy evening. The food arrived in a reasonable time and it was definitely worth the wait. The portion sizes were good and you were not left wanting more. A busy atmosphere but it was enjoyable and relaxing. There are even games and puzzles to entertain yourself or the children whilst you are waiting for food. We would definitely visit here again.

Great pub with character, good atmosphere, great for families and dog owners, only let down by warm flat beer, and on occasion, poor service at the bar at times, bar staff to busy talking amongst themselves or messing about on their phones, and the young girl clearing the tables, has a face like thunder, she obviously doesn't want to be there, so why is she 🤷

The Royal was a popular choice for beer and food during our week in Barmouth. Doom Bar & Wainwright available and prices cheap too. We had one meal there and the food was excellent! Personally the thing that put me off the most about the pub was the paintings all over every wall and ceiling! A couple would be ok, or one room.. but not the whole place. The ceiling in the upstairs restaurant was particularly unsettling, not a good combination with food.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, great breakfast which you had the option of having in your room. The location is in the town centre, had a great atmosphere in the bar with live music.

Great unpretentious 'local ' pub.Good staff that don't mind taking the time to serve Carling the way I like it.No 'Lets rip off the tourist'prices,unlike many pubs in town.Happy hour is even better. Clean toilets. I used to walk past 3 pubs to drink here.I now live closer.👍

Just got home from a week of fun, and what can I say. This pub is absolutely amazing! Unfortunately we didn’t stay at the hotel but we are definitely going to book for our family holiday next year. The royal was our go to throughout are stay in Barmouth, We came for food each night and tried a different meal each night which did not disappoint everything was outstanding plus free ice cream for the kids meals was a bonus. Top quality food at a great price with a great range of larger, ciders and ales on draught and to top it off we managed to bag 2 nights of happy hour well 4 hours (Tuesday and Thursday). The staff are an absolute credit to the owners who worked tirelessly to make sure everything runs smoothly just a little shout out to the staff that stood out for us as a family, the waiting on girls were brilliant and so assertive. We were also blessed in meeting the lovely little Chloe. Such a smiley little character behind the bar and was brilliant with the kids even didn’t mind clearing up after our messy bunch. We honestly can’t wait to return next year

Lovely comfortable rooms in a great (very busy) pub, but was very noisy until about 2am. Then again with dustman and traffic at 7am on Sunday morning.

Only had our evening meal here my cheese platter was beautiful but our other meal of nachos was poor very small amount of chilli and it was a very dry meal

We were wanting to stay close by family …and this great hotel is so central that everything was perfect …the staff became like family and attended to our every need in a caring way 🥰👌…quirky shopping and unique gifts were lovely to take home from local shops 💓…every shop keeper went above and beyond to make us welcome …what an added bonus when a lot of the world is struggling to find peace and all we saw was encouraging smiles 😊🌍👌…Thank you ✨…The Royal has an atmosphere that makes you feel at home 💐…we will be back again soon 💐x

We had a meal here whilst on holiday at a near by park OMG it was AMAZING. I had the home made lasagna totally the best I have ever had it was beautiful with chips and a lovely dressed salad and side of garlic bed. The over half has a burger and the patty was huge and so well cooked he was a man in heaven. The decor or quirky and fun and the staff are lovely and friendly. This was the highlight of our holiday thank you so much The Royal is totally recommended

Suitable for nut allergy. Stayed here a night - not only did they check all of the food in the breakfast and evening menus, they took peanuts off sale behind the bar during my stay! Really went over and above.

Stayed here one night one night while cycling through wales. The Royal was very friendly and accommodating. The food and environment was excellent. Watched Bellingham score in the final minute to take the game to overtime! Would recommend this inn to anyone!

Just returned home from another Fabulous stay at The Royal. The staff running the Bar are Great and the Staff who do Breakfast are all very Friendly and cannot do enough for you. The cleaner (I think)was so lovely to.Had a great meal. Thankyou to the chef who made our Meal last night after we we're told that the Kitchen had closed. Thankyou again so much for accommodating us both.Its the Perfect place to stay and base for Barmouth. Back again next year. Fantastic room. No.7. Regards Mr and Mrs McIntyre.

Second visit to The Royal & really enjoyed both times, great pub & very busy. The rooms are really well decorated with antique furniture with a modern twist, comfy double bed, great shower. We had an even meal there, roast chicken dinner, plenty of it & breakfast was tasty too with a full English (choose what you want) Location was good to, just by the station.

Very nice pub lots of character friendly place met some nice people to chat to. Well worth a visit. Big snooker table big tv.

rooms are decorated nicely and neat the overall room was amazing the only thing i would say is the cleanliness of the bar as there was ants on my table and flies are everywhere. I overheard some staff talking about how the floor is supposed to be mopped every sunday ONCE A WEEK which is appauling but to make this even worse he said that it doesn’t get done every week!! i would recommend to not eat the breakfast as it is not the best and it sits on a side for hours rather than it being fresh

What an absolute gem of a place,we are regularly in Barmouth as a family we love the place and this is the first time we have stayed at the royal and will not be our last,we came for our daughter's 7th birthday and on arrival in our room were birthday balloons some sweets and treats and some toys for her for the beach,and on her birthday morning they brought a cake out for her, honestly this weekend has been so memorable,the staff are amazing the food is fantastic as are the rooms,5 stars isn't enough,thank you so much to all at the royal 👍😘

I was not stopping there but me and Khloe my staffordshire bull terrier made it our local for the week while we was there on holiday can't thank the staff and customers enough they went out of there way to make us feel so welcome complete with some shelves with dog bowls water dispenser and blankets

Once you have seen past the quirkiness of the pub you will find it's a very well organised pub with friendly staff that delivers excellent quality food 🍲 and drink at a very reasonable price. Now that is worth coming back for. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for drinks several times whilst in Barmouth for the week. This is a popular pub that serves reasonably priced pub grub and we'll kept real ales. Music video on in the afternoon unless there is a big match and they put that on the screens. Outside seating too.

Great place to stay, and the staff are friendly and food is very good and freshly cooked. As we had just been on a road trip and stayed in other places the Royal Oak was the very best 👌

We had the roast dinner and it was the best roast beef I've had in ages. Soooooooo tender and yummy. The veg was really lovely too. Very good service and very helpful staff. Will definitely go again.

Fabulous time at the Royal, we stayed for a few nights. The staff were very friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble for them. Had our big dog with us and he was treated like a King. Room was lovely and well stocked, with a homely en suite. We will definitely be back there soon.
