McDonald's in Newport

Like any other McDonalds really.

It really doesn't matter what one I use. If I'm using drive through and that's all I do use. Then they all seem to be equally as bad as each other. And I check everything before I drive off. The most common issue I have with them is that my drinks are never full and accurate and I can tell immediately just from taking the drink off them that it's at least a good inch from where it should be. And when I ask for a large I kinda expect a large.... and not a medium in a large cup. Although a little annoying it's usually not that big of a deal. I just ask them decently to rectify it and they do...... for the most part. However I do randomly get staff that inform me that that's how the machine is calibrated. And that may be so??? However that's their problem not mine and I'm not prepared to pay for what I have received. They can either top it up or stick it in a medium cup and give me the difference in my money back. Another common issue I have is the hot chocolate. They really do a nice hot chocolate drink when it's right. But sometimes it's like coloured water and tasteless. Again it gets blamed on the calibration, but I have never had a problem getting it rectified. Lastly 🤨 before I leave to go and collect my order. I have to check all our local McDonald's and that's 3 of them. To check who has the milkshakes and iced drinks available. And I can often go around all three of them just to find out that NONE of them are available???? Now for a place like McDonald's I find that incredibly BAD!.

According to McDonald’s site meant to be open 24 hours Thursday to Saturday. Imagine my surprise on Thursday morning to find it all shut down and no lights on.

Set it was 24 hours and they've got a new opening times not advertised. Closed midnight opens 6:30 a.m. from a worker inside.

We call in to the Risca McDonald's after a long journey. The food was hot and fresh the staff were very helpful. Unlike other McDonald's we visited.

Omg hot chips !! First time drive through here and won’t be the last. Best Big Mac I have had. The young man at payment desk at around 13.30 was so friendly from Cross Keys he said. So polite and happy, thank you

Always get the order wrong as they are too busy messing around with food delivery drivers

Honestly can't be bothered to go into detail but our chips were freezing which infairness they swapped straight away but half way through my burger I found a thick black hair. I wanted to be sick and couldn't carry on eating the rest. I didn't want to complain a second time so just left it. Please make sure your staff are wearing Hair nets. It's gross!

Just had to write this review for absolutely no other reason that I need everyone to know how bloody amazing Amanda with pink hair who works here is. Me and my partner get mcdonald’s way more than we should and we always drive to this one that is out of our way because of how happy we are both left feeling after speaking to Amanda at the window. I tried to leave this review on food for thought but it kept saying there was an error with my receipt code so I hope this gets back to the right people and she gets the credit she deserves for being the most friendly, hospitable and warm staff member i’ve ever encountered at any food place not just mcdonalds :)

Always have a coffee on my way to work on a Friday morning for the last couple of weeks it been shut the drive through is coned off and it saying it open on they wed site??????

Came in and ordered a big tasty with bacon, with just cheese, expected there to be no cheese like other McDonald's somehow keep mistaking despite doing a mobile order, and received it exactly how I ordered it

Got half of my meal in less than a minute but rest never came u till after waiting for around 15 minutes had to go into McDonald's and ask for rest of order as they were to busy chatting and forgot my order.. Not good service at all

Open 24 hours is a joke, I'm sitted in the front of the locked door while the staff pretend i'm not here, shamefull

Waiting behind a car in drive thru that took ages, I was anxious to get home as I started work (from home) in half an hour. Got my food, burger looked like it was thrown together, that and the chips were cold. My cup of tea was given to me, waiting for the lady to ask if I wanted milk and sugar, she didn't look at me so I drove off

Ordered meals for 4 adults through the app with delivery to our table. Very fast and polite service. They did forget one item, but resolved the issue instantly.

Long waits, staff don't care much. Missing items and always ice cream or ice machines are out of order. I know it is not an easy job but 45 minutes wait for a meal? Too much.

Pretty good McDonalds, but check your order before driving home as they often forget an ordered item.

Ask for a toy, got a book. Said no to a bag but got given and changed for a bag. Worst of all they now charge for ketchup even with a meal bought. Needed another reason not to come to McDonald's... Now I have one. Thanks for saving me a future fortune and bad health ❤️

As usual, the fries were cold. Even the second bag was just the same.

Seems to be every order they leave things out ,both in store and online delivery, come guys sort it out

Not bad, but always misses the dip in the happy meal. Last time made to wait 5 mins and no one asked if I needed assistance til I got a little irate and had to ask someone who was less than a metre away from me the whole time.

The food is normally nice it's just the time it takes to get your order.Ordered a black coffee it took 25 minutes to make and probably would have been even longer if I hadn't gone up and asked for it and it wasn't that busy in there.

As always cheap and cheerful, a lot of teenagers sat around eating very little.

ordered on the mcdonald’s app, food was received 30 minutes later however it was cold and i was missing a cheese sharebox. tried ringing mcdonald’s several time and no answer. ordered a large hot chocolate and it’s barely even filled up half way! ridiculous.

Actual restaurant is fine, but car park is tight and can be difficult to find a space or navigate when busy.

For the first time ever I was charged for ketchup to my large meal 😭😭 and if I walked in it's free

Disappointed the milkshake machine was turned off by 8.30pm.

It's taken me my entire lunch break to get through the drive through. I now have a meal that I have no time to eat

If i visit this restaurant 9 out of 10 times , 9 times they get it wrong . Will try not to use this restaurant again. The food is good when they get it right .

Great food, quick service, unfortunately one burger was missing, when went up to the counter to ask, staff just turned heads and carried on their own conversations! Once I got their attention they very quick passed me the missing burger. It appeared to be a very clean tidy McDonald's restaurant.

Never fail to get my order completely wrong even after me asking if everything is in there. Staff don’t wanna be there (understandably). Hate you Risca McDonald’s

My second visit in about 3 months, was bad last time so i gave it a break.....paid for nuggets, didn't get them, food in general was luke warm and thrown together, disappointed once again. May try again in 3 months!

Super fast service in this shop and the sandwiches were fresh too. I tend to find this area not very busy around dinner time which is great.

Terrible service tonight, I am appalled. I said I didn’t want a drinks holder and was then given one. I was given the wrong drinks. Whilst waiting at the window staff were all shouting and swearing. I parked up for 5 minutes and the food came out without a bag. I was not asked if I wanted a bag. I was told that I hadn’t paid for one. I asked for a bag at that point. The server then walked away and loudly complained about me with the windows open, using swear words. All I did was ask for a bag? When she returned we let her know that we (and everyone else) could hear her being rude about me and that perhaps in future she shouldn’t do that with the windows open. She did not apologise. I would like to add, it was not busy. Only 2 cars there during the whole time.

McDonald's products are getting ridiculously small and not really good value for money these days.

I don’t understand why all the McDonald’s in south wales are always advertising 24 hours and are closed most of the nights, just take the signs down so the costumers are not induced in misleading information…

We just popped in while viewing houses in the area. Plenty of parking, easy enough to find. Usually McDonald's items, I personally don't like the order machines... Never understand why we have to order from machines, I like humans so you can tweak anything while ordering. There were two employees cleaning...they could lean to smile a little 😁 although clean it was looking like it needed a refresh. Just a normal big Mac ..well not as big as it was once 😂

Don't do ice for your drinks in the nights no milk shakes burgers look like they been punched about and we'll for the lady 2 lady's on the drive through I think they both need a shower

Very handy McD's on a primary route into Newport. Frequent visitor, always very good.

Kid on the drive through couldn't be arsed to use his headset so 4 other cars in the opposite lane to the one I was in got served before me then I had to wait an age for my food don't bother KFC is down the road from this monstrosity and much better

Standard McDonald's, standard cheap meals

I came here at night in a taxi because online it said it was open 24 hours I arrived and it was closed with the lights off I wasted £20 on a taxi for no reason someone really needs to update there times

Food was ok not brilliant just ok.....hashbrowns not cooked enough and Charging 10p for sauce now took the biscuit.....won't be using this franchise store again

The woman that I spoke to on the phone (manager) has a terrible attitude I don’t think you should work in the food industry if you clearly don’t like speaking to people put someone on the phone with manners or get a new manager

Slow drive thru, the slowest I've ever seen.. Every time. Appalling service from 'worker' on second window... Person with medium length brown hair and circular glasses.. No customer service, didn't even look when handing drinks or food out to the car nearly resulting in dropped drinks and food thrown in the bag... I didn't ask for a bag but thankfully got one, although they could of just saved the chip box because there was barely any left in there after it made it into the car; although not before they hit it against the drive thru window and sill... I know its a night shift but take some pride. Worker also seemed to be wearing a dark/satanic Christmas jumper. Not at all acceptable.

Used app for self service as building and drive-thru was full. Food was boiling hot and top quality 😋😋 on my way out I tripped and dropped my coffee, a very kind member of staff replaced it for me free of charge. He made my day 😁

The food wasnt just cold it was freezing, theres no excuse for cold food especially when there wasnt a queue, the staff all want to laugh and joke about instead of get you your food. Just reaffirmed why i dont eat mcdonalds. Risca mcdonalds should be ashamed. It wouldnt let me post no stars.

The menu board in the drive through regularly tells you things they don't sell which can be annoying when you don't know what they are selling that day. If there is a big queue and none of the food they are selling you want that day you get stuck in traffic for a while rather than just be able to leave.

The manager is unhelpful if not rude. Slow to cook as mentioned in others comments. McDonald’s needs to do something about this franchise.

Absolutely rediculous, a bunch of kids throwing food around the kitchen, standing around on their phones! This used to be the best one around but clearly they've let themselves go.

The slowest fast food restaurant I've been to in a while!

This place is so disorganised. They can never get an order done properly. No matter if I go to the drive-thru, order online or use the self-serve screen. Items are regularly missing, and I had to drive back on multiple occasions to get it sorted. Even then, all the manager could muster was an insincere apology and turned away when I was still talking to her. Same manager that smokes by the entrance ruining your experience if you're seated outside. I also don't understand why the menus are removed from the drive-thru?! What if I don't know the McDonald's menu by heart? And it's been like that for well over a year. Food is cold most of the time, but that's understandable given they mess up most orders and have to sort those out too. If you're not local, just keep driving until you find something better...

Don't get it delivered will come cold and they won't replace it yet we tracked it and it only took 3 minutes from shop to house when I took it back they didn't want to know blamed the delivery company. Absolutely shattered company.

Absolutely shocking we acted 40 minutes as it was delayed then when it did arrive it was freezing my husband had to take it bk to rogie Avon village .this meal was just under 30 pounds. disgusting service will not use again or recommend

Visited the Risca / Pontymister branch at silly O’clock where Ethan was most attentive and Professional ensuring I had all that a required in a timely manner, keep up the good work Ethan your a credit to the branch and McDonald’s.

Another order with a missing burger (the same issue the time before last) and unable to connect to the chat and upload photo of receipt to get money back! Nearly every order we have ever made here has had missing sauces and 2 out of the last 3 orders have been missing a burger. Sort it out!
