Average McDonald's, but it can take a while to get served in the drive-through. It's also very rare that the milkshakes are on, which is disappointing

Been here too many times now and wont make the mistake again. Orders are always wrong, and they don't seem to have any sauces, or if they do they shove them where the sun don't shine rather than putting them in the bag with your food

This Maccies takes some negative hits. But this morning my wife spilled hot chocolate everywhere. Totally our fault. But, the member of staff she told, made her a fresh hot chocolate and wouldn't let us clean it. She politely dealt with it! We visited 9.30am this morning. Thank you

The worst McDonalds in the country. Every time we visit, no matter how simple the order, we’re told to go and park up and wait. If we’re really lucky the order will be out in 10 minutes and sometimes it’s still warm. Tried about 6 times in the last 6 months thinking it might get better. It hasn’t so that’s us done with it.

McDonald's in Hexham is kinda confusing when you use the drive through. Better instructions could help.

I haven’t had such a well-prepared McDonald’s meal in a long time! Everything was fresh, perfectly made, and the fries didn’t taste like old oil at all. Hope it’s always like this!

It was quiet on a Monday morning and I ordered at the drive through. When I picked up my order the drinks were fine but the food was not right. Charged for a more expensive breakfast roll only to find a bacon roll in the bag instead. Didn't go back as we were already on the road with a long journey ahead.

There are so many times I have wanted to leave this review but haven’t, but enough now… This is our local McDonalds but I have to be absolutely starving to go there. Whether there are two or twenty orders, you will wait 20-40 minutes for your order. Always go through the drive thru, this is prioritised, but when you use the drive thru, you’ll get half a portion of fries or there is something wrong/cold. The staff I must stress, are NOT the fault, the poor guys look run ragged. The restaurant is dirty, cold and full of angry people waiting, waiting, waiting… this doesn’t make you want to sit in. I’m so sick of it, I’d rather drive all the way to Prudhoe just to get value for money. A giant corporation like McDonalds should be ashamed of themselves, letting the staff take the crap they do because maybe there is not enough of them or they are maybe not trained enough, who knows. If you can’t get the staff, then why, maybe because they are faced with this scenario. It’s worse than Westerhope and that is saying something. Weaterhope will record your order as ready and you’ll still wait 20 mins after that, just so their stats are OK. McDonald’s need to intervene but they won’t because it’s probably owned by a franchise.

Worst MacDonalds I've ever been to . There is no customer service - there is no one at the counter should you have a question. Lady seemingly in charge was on her phone and chatting to her mates the whole time we were in there. No dairy free alternative for a cuppa, no cold drinks as machine broken. No table service even if requested the food just sits until you go ask for it, and then obviously it was cold! Won't be returning.

It was dead (7pm on Sunday) yet orders were pretty slow, saw quite a few customers complaining. Food was a mediocre temperature and I saw it had been sitting there for a while and they still missed the cream on my hot choc. Saw no staff doing any cleaning... Half hour and no one came to sort this out. I'd estimate it had sat like that for an hour before I arrived based on order numbers.

Horrendous, terrible service, 40 minute wait, no acknowledgement or apology for the delay. Clearly prioritising the drive through, staff aren't interested and don't want to be there. They were mostly in the car park vaping. Won't be returning

Got big mac meal deal pointless putting pickles in as that thin could not taste them very poor never has recipes in self check service

Bought click and collect. It was so quick and chips were hot, salty and fresh. Drinks good and easy to find. What more could you want!

I work nearby, so have visited a few times now, and almost every time I visit, there is something wrong or missing from my order. It's become a running joke with my colleague who also has had the same problem.

Made to wait in the drive through to order food (15mins) and 15 more mins to pay and collect a quarter pounder and cheese meal - absolutely terrible service - avid and drive to Newcastle McDonald’s instead

Been there 3 times I 4 weeks twice for breakfast take away won't sit in drive through as wait forever so go in order served drinks no ice, ice machine broken down why not inform us prior to buying as the pop machines are callerbrated to have ice in the drinks so drinks are vile , and been broken now for over 4 weeks , food order is never correct , sat in 1 evening waited over 40mins for 2 meals bother came freezing with warm ice free drinks , when we sent them back the little manager was not the best at managing and we got cold meals given as replacements we left them too won't be going back as managers and majority of staff are so incompetent Ronald mcdonlad needs to go and inspect this place as does the food hygiene folk as its not good at all,

Good food but a slow inefficient work flow. clearly need to rethink two staff members on break at a time while there were clearly things that needed to be done like serve the guy in front of me that had been waiting 20-30 minutes.

This is my 3rd time trying this place. 1st time it was shut at 11pm when it was stated to be open. Today come in for breakfast with drive through and car park quiet yet stood waiting round for ages then when food came it was cold so binned it. Seems ran by a load of a teenagers who have no clue on customer service!

This has to be the worst McDonald's I've ever had to deal with. Constantly forgetting items, having to hold up the drive-through just to check your order, food is mostly cold by the time it arrives. Joke

Stop in for a quick breakfast what terrible service this maccas has! Machines not working, no paper in printer, coffee lukewarm at best, one coffee we can’t drink burnt milk! Got severe food poisoning from my meal here, I will never be going back to McDonald’s again. Got fries, cheeseburger and wrap of the day so one of those was dodgy.

Missing food, again!!! Usually I check at the drive through or in the car park then go inside and sort it but this time I had to leave in a bit of a hurry. When I got home there were a couple of burgers missing, luckily mine rather than the kids, still annoying though, more so as I should have known better after previous experiences of the same. Shouldn’t have to check all items paid for are in the bag as it’s fairly basic stuff, but seeing as they rarely get it right it’s probably best to. Worth pointing out that it’s usually the same inside too but at least when you're there it’s quick and easy to rectify. I’m not exactly a frequent visitor to McDonalds but I’ve been to a few in various locations over the years and I’ve never had anything close to the poor service issues that you get at Hexham. I’ve also not seen anyone there that resembles management either, perhaps thats the problem!! Unlikely they will read this but on the off chance they do…sort it out will you, just a bit of extra care and attention and some basic training needed and you’ll avoid the ever growing list of bad reviews, its really not that difficult.

Don’t get me wrong, I visit McDonalds with realistic expectations for fast food but oh my, Hexham, you lower the bar to a whole new level. Probably the only drive through where you always have to empty the contents of the bag just to see which items are missing to then go through the hassle of sorting it out. Today I didn’t have time and there was £35 worth of food to check through so thought I’d chance it, silly mistake, £6 of food missing when I got home with it. Even when going in it’s not much better, just seems like everyone’s first day, every day!! Been quietly annoyed with the place after every previous visit, but this time I’m two burgers short for my lunch so I’m hangry!!

The food was hot. Staff were all polite and friendly. Got my order quickly. My order was all there and correct.

After a £50 order and getting home with it I found one of the burgers missing... had to go back and risk coming back to cold food I waited for 5 minutes and then got served I told the guy I wasn't given an item and he went off to get it... so I waited... and waited and within that time two other people asked if I was Obeing seen to.... after waiting some more the ORIGINAL GUY who asked me in the first place came back and asked me if he could help... what?! So I then reminded him what I was there for where he proceeds to go and get it instantly! There obviously is absolutely no organisation in the place... its not the first time and I should have checked my order but I had a car full and tiny bags so couldn't really go through them very well. Needless to say my food was cold when I got back. Very disappointing

mcdonalds has changed since delivery drivers get priority over people queueing for half an hour for there order more concerned about them which is wrong bad management system

Good spot between Newcastle and Carlisle. Good hot food. Nice and clean. always a standard choice when kids are hungry.

Been many times but really really slow . Went through the drive through today thinking it would be quicker but was told we hadn't ordered a coffee which we clearly had no assistance offered . Really Really disgusting . Defo won't be back

McDonald's 'not so' fast food. Think it's probably the worst McDonald's I've been in. Really slow service, chips were terrible. Ordered a cappuccino but was given a luke warm black coffee instead, when asked the staff for a cappuccino which I ordered, they exchanged no problem but would have been nice for any sort of acknowledgement/apology.

Service extremely slow and poor, I waited 25 minutes for both my orders to be to be wrong then would only correct one of my orders the servers breath stank more than his attitude

Not the best Mcdonald’s i’ve visited. Had usual problem logging in (that’s three consecutive Mcdonald’s where the app didn’t work so couldn’t redeem the points)! The coffee was awful - more like coloured hot water. Apart from that it was pretty mediocre.

Pleasant staff, but, I ordered an egg mcmuffin to take away, when I get to opening the bag there's no egg, just cheese and bread??? What's going on?? How does that happen?

Absolutely disgusting state, I've never seen such a dirty restaurant. Grease and food stuff all over pretty much everything, tables, chairs and the floor. Understandable after a very busy period but at 8AM there's no excuse. edit as of 3/6/24 ordered a meal at 20:11, still sat waiting at 20:30, so much for fast food. more interested in serving drive through than eat in. then to top it all nobody knew how to refund.. that's it. enough is enough. never ever again......

This McDonalds has gone from bad to worse. So many things unavailable all of the time, long waited and cold food. This restaurant appears to be driven by profit over service as the milkshake / Icecream machine does not appear to work with low customer numbers. After several visits over several weeks, all around lunch time through the week, milkshakes and McFlurrys are not available each time the staff give a different answer, but mainly it’s because the machine is broken. If it was a new car you would have taken it back and got a new one. The only possible answer is that it is not cost-effective to run with the low customer numbers during the week at lunch time. Unless you can convince me otherwise…. Disappointing, if you fancy a milkshake, or McFlurry do not go here!

The first half a year at least was full of very poor experiences, almost exclusively the service. In the time since I left a very negative initial review, the service has definitely improved. Quicker, friendlier service and more consistent food, so credit where it is due. One issue still remains, the opening times on the website and the app are different and it is often hard to tell when it will actually be open, the app still says it is 24 hours, and I don't think it has been for many, many months, if at all. A lot of improvements could be made in this regard.

Had to wait 12 minutes for our order on the drive through. Staff member had said they were short staff. I had a person with Autism with me who struggles to wait hence why went through the drive through. Food was good though.

Never get the order correct, i mean ever. Tried to give them an opportunity to shine, but they wouldn’t take it. Don’t drive away from the window without checking your order, it will be wrong or cold Paid for on the app and was told he didn’t pay the correct amount really and then realised they had put two Big Mac meals in rather than one , was told to dive back around and pay at the first window No sauce, asked to tomato and was told you mean ketchup lol please get me out of here They desperately need competition, that would shake them up That reminds me the milkshake machine doesn’t normally work

The next time this branch manages to get an order right will be a first! The food is fine, the kids that work there are friendly but seem to have no attention to detail or just don't care. The term "fast food" does not apply here either. How hard is it to read an order??? Get your act together!

Skeleton staff so breakfast took forever to arrive. Sat and did a few work emails, got myself another coffee. NEXT WEEK I get a letter telling me I had stayed longer than permitted and slapped with a £100 fine!!! Do not go here, if you do give them your money, ram the food down your gob and get out as quickly as possible....

Horrible. I collected my order drove across to Wentworth car park to eat it. It was stone cold. The burger had obviously been cooked a while and left sitting on the hot plate.

Complete and absolute utter joke. Ordered a Bacon Roll Meal with tomato sauce, waited 20 minutes (should have checked the order before I left really) just about to take a bite..........Brown sauce! Took it back, had to wait another 20 minutes for the correct order......However I did get a full refund (which I asked for)......But besides the point. AVOID.....Update some months later, check photo. Does this look like Coca-Cola with no ice to you?

I'd like to say that this McDonalds was equal to others, but unfortunately Hexham McDonalds has stooped to a new low of desperation, poor service, and poorly engaged staff. Simple things like, if someone buys a tea/coffee offer milk, you've already hidden it behind the counter and 70% of drinkers take it with milk ... so offer it. There are more annoying things that are simple and easy to fix.

Arrived next door at the Travelodge late one evening. Drove past and saw the sign saying open 24 hours. Went round just after 10pm only to find it closed. How hard is it to advertise the correct opening hours?

Worst McDonald's I've used. Never once visited and food has been ready. I've had to be parked up every single time. So this results in half your meal being warm and the other half being cold as we can't seem to cook everything at the same time. School boy error by not checking everything today, getting all the way home and realising the dips I asked for aren't there. To top it off, fries must have come out of the fridge with how cold they are, possibly even have been there since Christmas Eve.

Went for drive thru today, drive thru ordering was seemless HOWEVER I consistently get things missing like sauces, I have to routinely check the bag before I pull away to check, this time they managed to completely forget to give me a drink as part of a meal and a chocolate cookie, I tried to call the server back to ask for them but they ignored me, as I had my sick little one in the car I couldn't leave the car to go inside to get it sorted. They gave me one drink and a mcflurry at the window, but then made me wait 10 minutes in the bay for the rest so ice cream was melted before I even got home to eat it. Very poor experience, lack of organisation and apparently basic reading skills, no quality control at hand over to be seen

It is apparent that the official method of constructing a burger is to frisbee the patty, cheese and bun from the opposite end of the kitchen in the hope of making something resembling a burger.

Everytime I go to this McDonald's the staff are always lovely and very apologetic if anything isn't right or if the food is taking a little longer than usual. I have never seen a huge problem with the cleanliness as when there is a big mess it's because of the customer not the staff and I'm aware they can only clean up so quickly with how busy they are and with shift changes. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes which is absolutely fine although I can't say the same for several impatient customers I've witnessed, clearly they have never had to work in a busy food industry and don't know how to behave towards the staff as they can only do their best.

When it’s not busy it’s great. Clean dining area and friendly staff. Car park is ample and drive thru is a breeze.

Totally useless, can never get a takeaway order right. Was given wrong coffee a hash brown short and a bacon muffin instead of a sausage one. That was just my last order. They forget to give you fries with a meal, give you the wrong burgers and god help you if you customise your meal because odds on you’re not going to get it. At the minute you can order a big tasty as long as you don’t want the burger with it, so you can have a cheese salad sandwich for the price of a big tasty. Why sell a burger if you can’t have the burger with it.
