McDonald's in Cardiff

Pretty decent Mcdonalds. Food hot and well cooked. Prompt service. But I can see parking being a real problem if it's busy as it was very quiet but struggled to get a parking space. The neighbouring spaces in the retail park have signs saying you will be fined if you park there as the spaces are reserved. Seems to be aimed primarily at the delivery services.

Very clean and efficient service

They don't treat people respectfully. If there is a genuine problem it is like talking to a computer that doesn't care. You will leave with a bad taste in your mouth.

Went to McDonald’s Cardiff gate for happy meals for the kids been parked up for 15 minutes still no happy meals got to be the worst place ever

Like a normal McDonald's in food terms. I ordered in the till and after a few misunderstanding in the end was sorted out

Limited parking but a good place to stop on the outskirts of Cardiff. Great tasting hot food, fast and really friendly service. Always busy outside, but usually fairly quiet inside.

I'm absolutely disguted by the order I received!! Not only did I have no drunk but when I requested to have a grill for my big mac it turned up with twice the amount of the requested stuff that I specifically asked not to have!! I have order a few times now from this store and continually to have missing or half of my order this if beyond a joke now and I will NEVER be ordering from here again!!

can you please stop messing up my big mac. i just don’t want pickles and onions. i want everything else. stop taking away my cheese and lettuce. just leave out the pickles and onions

The level of incompetence is astounding. I don't remember it being this difficult to read an order when I worked for Macdonlds. Entire meals missing, incorrect items, and substandard food quality including cold or poorly made. Not even once or twice. Every single order has something wrong. Edit: it has now been a few months since I posted this review. And I still stand by my previous comment. We don't often order from them now, having been disappointed so much before, but when we do, we ALWAYS get let down by missing items, cold food, or incorrect items. Cheeseburgers with the labels saying they're plain, yet they have all the fillings, even had one burger arrive with just cheese in a bun, no fillings or meat at all. They consistently forget the dips too, both the normal and the select ones. It baffles me how it is possible to get so wrong so often. Seems the entire store needs retraining and more competent management hired.

Typical fast food restaurant, standardised food so you know what you're getting. Use the app to order ahead and can park up and have it brought out to you is great.

It didn't last long. This restaurant is the worst ever again. First of all - Delivery. 9/10 cases there are items missing in the order. After few complaints I can't even get any refunds as they tell me that I was refunded few times. So now they can literally cheat on me and there's nothing I can do. Can you imagine? Secondly - brainless people working in there. If ordering food and ice creams you'd rather expect to get fresh ice creams as last, don't you? So you won't. They usually try to give the ice creams as first, without any bag and tell to go and wait on bay for the rest of the order with the ice creams in your hand 😂 once I waited 11 minutes so I put the ice cream next to the car and I asked for new. I had to speak to manager to get them. That restaurant at this location is an absolute joke. Seriously. Avoid and pick the other one, Newport Road for example. That restaurant should be reported to McDonald's for what they're doing.

When ordering food you will be lucky to actually get what you paid for. 9/10 times I'm ordering food they mess it up

If I could give the service a 0 I would I could write a book on how terrible this mc Donald’s is, purposely asking people to park up and wait for their food just so it looks like their on a good time schedule when really the parking is causing chaos it’s a joke, let’s not get started on them getting orders wrong I think if they actually managed to get an order correct without an item missing I would pass out, they put the wrong order through for me before and when I asked them to correct it they told me I had to go around the drive thru again 🤣 absolute shambles of a place, as I am writing this the worker has come over with the wrong order case closed 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

Terrible company. All I wanted was a coffee, very poor customer service very impersonal. I felt as though I were doing them a favour for visiting rather than being greeted with a welcoming smile and basic customer service.

Avoid, I think they may actually employ Ronald to manage this branch.

By far and away the WORST McDonald’s experience of my life when using the drive thru. On every visit, going back a decade and more. Every time I think it’ll be different, but it never is (visits when parked up and physically gone into the premises to order means you can correct mistakes). But drive thru and when ordered delivery, they ALWAYS get the order wrong, with missing items, or non-customised items. Utterly, utterly terrible.

This is a great little place for burgers, I'm surprised more people haven't heard of it.

Incompetent. Can’t get orders right ever it seems. Constantly have to check and point out all the bits they have forgotten or got wrong.

Updated in 2023: I've been again twice. The first time they gave me the wrong order and the second time I waited about 15 minutes after ordering at the drive thru and got the wrong drink. It looked really quiet but staff seem really confused and swept of their feet. Total chaos I'd still avoid this place if you can. Original review: My order is often wrong from this mcdonalds or after I've paid at the drive thru I'm told what I ordered and paid for is no longer available which is very frustrating. Usually end up waiting a long time for food. The entrance is not very pedestrian friendly at all so be careful. There aren't many car parking spaces either. Recently renovated but the screen to show order status is not working and the machines to order never have receipts. So many people stood waiting ages for food it gets cramped really fast.

Went to McDonalds. Pontprennau ordered two happy meals one on my points and one paid for when to the window I was told I didn’t pay for one when i paid for one in cash for one had to park and go in to see the manager was so rude how they talked to people is disgusting the food is always cold Pontprennau. McDonald’s is the worst McDonald’s. I think the best McDonald’s I’ve been to is Llanishen They always mess the orders up won’t be using it again

Typical McDonald’s. Sometimes it’s ok, sometimes it’s wrong. Bacon cheese flatbread is probably their most disappointing product.

The staff need training on customer service

SO SLOOWWWWW! The meaning of *fast food* loses its meaning!!! The worst problem of the drive-thru, is you are stuck in a queue. 30 mins (and counting) standstill in drive-thru. The food was great as expected from McDonald's Service, was horrendous. (Reviewing this at the drive thru standstill)

Absolutely disgustied , order a medium hot chocolate it was just hot water when it arrived , food was cold and rubbery , I wouldn’t recommend ordering from ordering at this McDonald’s for delivery

Ordered 2 chicken nugget happy meals and a double quarter pounder only cheese meal along with other items. When I got home the happy meals had no nuggets and the burger wasn’t only cheese. I called to inform the store and it took 3 attempts to get someone to answer. I’ve now had to return to the store to get the correct food

Teribal service went there at 9 pm to be told only drive through the foreigner lady was so rude too and told me to go out and i work nearby no service for us truck drivers the lady said too bad but then went on to serve others that came in the worst mc do ive ever experienced

Ordered food today for delivery, the Mac flurries were a joke and Pay for a big Mac meal large and had a child drink McFlurry hardly any ice cream in there. This McDonald’s is getting worse phones up and asked me to chase over Uber eats Deliveroo there not the ones that done the order, they just pick it up

cold food how lush, microwave could have done better

Ordered via McDelivery and the food arrived cold. 2 x Big Mac meals but no chips. When calling to complain I was told I have to request a refund via Uber. Now if I want my fries I have to reorder and pay another delivery fee when I haven’t even had my money back for the first order which I didn’t receive. Shocking! Avoid!

The food was only just warm and overcooked it took ages to get served.

Ordered via the app, that was not a good start. They managed to make a plain cheeseburger by adding mustard and pickles and onions and ketchup-again. The cup didn’t have the monopoly peel off. No mozzarella (again) ice cream machine I think he been put out to pasture because they never have any. Generally this place is a corporate piece of excrement.

This is the worst place I have ordered from. It seems small but this place will never give sauces or straws or anything to that effect. When you order things specifically to be with the sauce and you get something dryer then sand it is ridiculous at this point. We have given them plenty of chances to the point I have previously driven up to them to sort out the order and they still make the same mistakes DO NOT ORDER if you want your full meal simple as that

Can't fault them on anything. All staff encountered were friendly and greeted with a smile. Drive thru was fast and food too hot to eat straight away - a rare occurrence on visits to other stores.

We absolutely love McDonald’s breakfast Marcus always looks after us. He is especially lovely to my mum who goes in often alone, he really make time to talk to her. That means the absolute world! Lovely restaurant with great food

Food was hot, which is not always a given. Lots of tech not working, order screens, display screens.. Tables were dirty. This one used to be buzzing in the school holidays…. but now it’s dead, mainly used for deliveries. Recommendation: Avoid.

Only drive thro I know where your food is cooked and ready before your cold drinks. Handed food at window and told to go and wait in the order bay (which was full) for 2 cold drinks! .The food here is warm at best and never hot so I said I would wait at window for just 2 cold drinks which should only take a minute to pour but was told I would hold up the drive thro whilst they filled 2 cokes on the dispenser !! Wasn’t even busy.

I always go McDonald's whenever i travel , but this one makes me sick , i went there on Sunday around 9-10pm , the fish burger we ate make me and my staff have diarrhea , really really bad .

Absolutely do not bother ordering from this McDonald’s via uber eats. Have ordered online a few times however each order always has items missing so I’m not sure if the fault lies with the staff at McDonald’s not packing orders correctly or the uber drivers taking the food for themselves. However placed an order tonight as a Friday night treat for the family. Food arrived with two meals missing. We then drove to the McDonald’s extremely annoyed to retrieve these missing items that we had paid for however once we spoke to Assistant Manager we were told they could not give us these missing items as we might be “Lying”. I was actually shocked and appalled that she thinks we would go out of our way to drive up to McDonald’s on a Friday night to lie about not receiving two items!! These items would have cost them absolutely nothing to replace. I’m a manager myself and would never have treated customer with so much disrespect her overall attitude was absolutely appalling. You need to take a serious look at your staff McDonald’s service well below standard as well as your customer service

Automatic door broken, self service touch screen not allowing payment and orders screen not fully updating. Food OK.

Terribly experience after 15 minutes still no breakfast meal. Stood at the counter but everyone looks at you but no staff wish to assist you. In the end I walked out with no meal and no refund. Disgusting customer service

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. We ordered on Just eat for delivery and when the food arrived it was stone cold and missing quite a bit it all went straight into the bin as it was inedible . Tried calling the restaurant straight away to get it all sorted and after 1 hour (63) calls no one answered the call. So now Im out of pocket and still hungry. Will definitely never use this mcdonald's again.

Table dirty Area around dirty table dirty Staff presence.... 3 staff members having a meeting on table in corner I presume 1 was area manager as he had his apple laptop out and wearing different short to others There were no other staff until the staff in corner needed something Food took time to arrive Lots of cars waiting outside in food bays Obvious branch more interested in people not ordering as even the little window where food appears from as noone present to even meet and greet customers. The meet and greet window makes store seem very conveyer belt At one point I saw someone who I presumed was a manager due to the top they were wearing who had appeared outside and when I asked if I could possibly have a cloth to clean the table she said yes but continued to have a chat with the group of employees in the corner As an "International" visitor who had only arrived in Cardiff a few hours prior to this it was embarrassing that a 6yr old commented on the state of restaurant and how unclean it was. As an exMcDonald's employee (1994-1996) I dread to think what a mystery shopper would have rated the restaurant and the service that was provided. Let's hope you never get more international travellers as they would think that Welsh people are dirty and not very friendly

Utter shambles, children operating the place need a manager with a clue, pleease do yourself a favour and go to a different McDs where you might get what you ordered, hot instead of cold, and not thrown into the bag so the burger scatters all over the insides. Wouldn't have been suprised to see footage on Tiktok of the place showing that they were being deliberately terrible for views it was so bad it can't have been accidental.

Terrible service, waited 20 minutes and had to get a refund. The kitchen was dirty, chips everywhere, multiple people returning wrong/ cold orders. To top it off one of the workers was visibly wiping their snotty nose whilst prepping food. When we pointed this out we were told “oh yeah he hasn’t prepared your food though”

Awful awful awful!! Staff think they are something else, rude to every single customer! All part from Helen and Marcus who can’t do enough for people! Honestly they are both too good for this rude shop! 18 year old managers who look down on everyone! McDonalds you need to sort this restaurant out asap! Many years ago I worked in this mcdonalds and I do not remember serving burgers that look like this. I get its fast food but it doesn't need throwing into the box. The gherkins were in the box not in my burger the food was stone cold even tho we ate at 11am burger made upside down super disappointed 😑 😒 😐

Never have milkshakes or icecream.. Wanted to change my order before paying I was told I was not allowed. I Waited in drive thro for 15mins and wasn't allowed to re order so didn't buy anything was very shocked that they turned away costum. Disgusting behaviour and terrible customer service, we ordered 3 meals on uber eats and only one meal came, the food was cold considering we are not that far from this mcdonalds. We've been trying to call them and they keep hanging up. I would not recommend this place at all!!

So, so, so slow with drive through. Make you park up, in a full car park, then leave you sat for 20 minutes before like warm food is brought out.

Best McDonald's in South Wales, always busy, no stingy food portions, and close to lots of shops.

If I could I would give no stars. We will never use them again. Fries arrive quarter full every time, drinks turn up with no straws, once we had two boxes of nuggets with nothing in them. Sauces never packed, milk shake machine always out of order, rude and untrained staff. NEVER AGAIN!!!

This store is an absolute gamble when it comes to quality of your meal. Be it temperature, incorrect customisation of burgers, if you get sauces, straws, napkins, or even the right portion (medium/large 6/9 box on nuggets etc.) It does tend to be better when you order in the store, rather than online. I don't like the drive thru as its very tight.

Food as usual mcdonalds, service also as usual and nothing was really wrong with it but the toilets are a bit dirty.

Went here for lunch on the run. The drivethrough was busy but moved quickly, ordered 3 meals all of which arrived hot and the correct items. The parking at this McDonalds is poor but using the drive through there is plenty available in the retail park.

Smallest mcdonalds I've ever been too. the car park is too small... boy racers and delivery drivers love to hog what little parking space there is.
