McDonald's in Colchester

Getting pretty sick of getting a drive thru and getting home and food constantly missing! I got a simple happy meal for my daughter and open it up to find no chips just 4 nuggets. How difficult can it be to count 2 items in a box!

Why do you keep giving out half measures of your coffee, I order a large I expect a large not for it to be 3/4 of a cup and below the line so your basically being conned as it’s same size as the regular!!

This is one of the best in Colchester

I honestly don't know why I bother ordering from Tollgate. Every single time the order is wrong with items missing. It's really not on. Once is an error and can be shrugged off, this is now around the 4th time. Last time daughter went back, unfortunately we don't live close by so it's not really an option. Tonight large fries missing. This is the last time. Will not be going back.

Food order given to us was wrong. Not the 1st time from this branch but not noticed till I was home.

Its ok when the order is correct or if they ever decide to fill the Large fries box up, probably get more with Medium fries. Probably a drive thru scam as time you get home its too late.

Find that Tolgate MaDonalds is a good one. Place is kept clean, tables are cleared and wiped down very quickly after being vacated. Meal was hot and didn't take much time.

Went in drive through. No milk for tea and no serviettes. Too busy chatting.

My hot chocolate was without the chocolate and very insipid.

The place was rammed on Black Friday but everything was working well. Food good and hot, acceptable order turnaround time given half of Essex were in there getting a burger. Clean tables. Thanks!

Used the drive-thru and it was fast and efficient service with friendly, helpful staff.

Parking was an absolute nightmare - we got stuck in the drive thru lane and all the disabled spaces were then full. Fortunately, the food arrived very quickly and was piping hot. The toilets need a serious refurbishment as they are tired and worn.

Unfortunately the drive through was busy so we had a wait for our food.

i absolutely love the vibes of maccies my favourite place to go on a friday night. 10/10 recommend as a day out. but tell me why everytime i order a mcdonald’s cheeseburger PLAIN it takes so much longer to come than one with stuff in it. i even ordered mcdonald’s to my own house the other day and they forgot my bacon and egg mcmuffin brought the whole meal EXEPT the main part. i cried. not acceptable as im a regular paying customer and at this point i think i deserve my name written on one of the seats in there and i would love for when i walk into maccies on a friday at around 5 i should be greated with a red carpet. xxxxx

Crap. Food is messed up, super slow service, order machines broken, horrible atmosphere.

Very good fresh but very loud and it took forever beside that the toilets were clean and they were kind

Self service machines never give receipts and for fast food the service is never fast, standard McDonald's fair

For some reason getting the order out quickly is more important than getting it right or being pleasant to customers. Can't wait untill it's automated, at least the order will be right.

Be aware to check your order when you receive it. Otherwise, you may end up with short order. Hence 1 star for service.

Overcrowded, loud, dinghy, hardly any seating on ground level, not many 4 seating tables upstairs. Waited over an acceptable time for our food, chips cold, burger falling out of bun. Toilets weren't clean and only 2 so a queue had begun to build up.

STRAWS!! 4 orders in a row and I’ve not been given a single straw! This has to be one of the easiest jobs in the world as you forget STRAWS?????

Don't order your Mc Delivery from here! Items were not cooked properly and items missed! The delivery bit was spot on! The actual bit from the McDonald's Restaurant in Tollgate Stanway was terrible!

I always seem to find this branch of Mc D always misses putting the sweet and spicy BBQ dip pots in the bag even though they are on the receipt with the 5 chicken select meals . It's very poor that your staff consitantly fail to read the order. I never have this problem at Chelmsford. It's not like it's was busy but that's no excuse either !

Drive thru shut but no signs out and nobody there to tell us, eventually someone told us to park up and walk in so we did. No customer in front of us yet 15 mins for egg and bacon roll 😡

Clean, quick and piping hot food served. Couldn't ask for better...

Went for lunch with some friends. Order via the kiosk, couldnt get a reciept cause the printer was broke and went for table service. Had to wait 25 minutes for 2 philly cheesestake meals and a bacon double cheese burger and milkshake. When the employee bought the food in a dull and abrupt manor told us that they had no milkshakes and asked what we wanted in return. No refund was offered or given for the additional cost of adding a milkshake to the meals. Chips were warm but the burgers were near stonecold. Staff werent helpful at all. Won't be visiting this branch again.

Extremely busy when we went, but they did get the food out quickly. The toilets were clean. An essential stop if you are traveling.

It's a McDonald. Does everything a McDonalds does. Decent enough, in the middle of a shopping and retail park, handy to visit whilst there or drive thru option as well. Typically long ish queues, but they go quickly

Why does this place don't follow the order details. Eating in most of the time something is missing from the order. Ordered takeaway been waiting ages for delivery plus 2 burgers mising and fries in one portion was ridiculous. However refund issued for missing items but still have a very upset boy!!!what is the point of delivery if now i have to go order missing items in restaurant to make my boy day better!!!tryed to ask for missing items redelivered instead of refund but no way.ill wait up to 10 days for refund and spending extra for my boys missing items and on top off it ill go to restaurantmy self to sort it out for my lo .so so angry!that's should be easy one for mum after night shift!!giving costumer a choice to get your missing order or refund would be better!

A modern Macdonalds, plenty of seating. Food was as expected. Clean toilets. When will Macdonalds UK provide gluten free options like their European stores? I would like to see more gluten free options in this country.

Meh... not really one of the better ones, fried fries barely have any color on them. No photo of it, didn't order anything when I saw that.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. We literally have had about 4 bad orders in a row from here, we won't be getting food here again. The fries are always almost empty, they always get the order wrong and never pick up the phone. I am sick and tired of this, mcdonalds is a treat for us and it's so disappointing to have it come to us at such low quality. Don't order from here.

Not overly impressed on my last visit. Use the app to order breakfast. Got to the restaurant and selected drive thru for collection. Gave the code and then they could not find my order. Then eventually found it so off to the next window. Order was not ready to was asked to park up. I was the first there but was soon joined by others, about 6 of us in total. Then sat there and watched as everyone else got their food. Eventually gave up and went in, only to be ignored by multiple staff members. Got the attention of one of them and asked about my order. He checked and picked a bag up off the side, which was my order and then just slung it at me. No apology, just here ya go pal. It was no surprise that the food was luke warm. Hopefully just a bad day for them. Plus side is the staff appeared to be having a good day at work 👍🏼

This McDonald’s cannot cook fries, 20+ minute waiting times for food and then the order is wrong.

This is not fast food. The drive through is incredibly slow. You’d be quicker walking to a restaurant.

Every time we have ordered from here there are items missing. Today we were missing 4 lots of Fries out of 6, the fruit bags, the dips and all the food was cold. Two lots Fries were missing from the happy meals, so I had to give the kids the Fries we had. It's a joke, I have ordered through thier site and on justeat it is always the same. One order we were missing the burgers from, this is not ok. I feel like I've been robbed and the kids were disappointed about the fruit and dips. This is not ok and the staff really need to sort it out.

All I ordered was a white coffee. 5 mins, 10 mins--- excuse me I ordered a coffee 10 mins ago. Oh did you! What order number? Number 005. Oh ok give me 2 mins. 5 mins, 10 mins... I left without the coffee and went to Costa instead. More expensive, but I was served and had my coffee within 4 mins.

Its was the best cold cheeseburger and luke warm fries I have ever waited 20 minutes for. Drive thru is a bit of a misnomer, it should be queue thru, 20 minutes from start to finish, and really not worth queing for. Dreadful food.

It's okay. The restaurant is always clean and it was refurbished only a few years ago. However, don't bother ordering a delivery from here; there seems to be an unregulated cabal of drivers at this place that McD's either can't control or have no desire to control. Drivers will pick up the food, go awol for an hour as they're working for Just Eat and Deliveroo at the same time. They won't log that they've collected your food so the updates from Deliveroo mean nothing. Our receipts were printed at 16:15 but the driver got to us at 17:10 (I can walk to the restaurant in 10 minutes). Eating in is a better experience, though sometimes they still mess up your order - everyone makes mistakes - but this McD's seems to have a 50% chance of missing items or giving you someone else's food, even on quiet periods. The staff are helpful, though and polite.

I payed £35 for a mc donalds meal with my family and friends and when i went up for a mc flury it says UNAVAILABLE SO WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO!!!!!!!!!!! THE MAN ON THE NEXT TABLE CAME BACK WITH ONE Complete favoritism!!

It's pretty spacious, with good customer service and pleasant staff.

Had a problem with the automatic ordering system but staff very helpful and quick. Food was nice and fresh.

Drive thru is managed poorly everything you have to 'park up'. Food takes ages and cars arriving after you get served first. Food is cold. Such a shame as it used to be good, gone down hill drastically recently.

It's a McDonald's. Often find this one is slower than other locations in Colchester, probably due to it's location.

Lovely food and drink on the Go. Near Sainsbury's (about 5 to 10 minutes drive). Good coffee and hot chocolate when also on the go. Good drive through too. The tables are nice and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking spaces.

Standard mcdonalds experience, no issues. Probably one of the better ones.

Overall good, have a tendency to get orders wrong, several times burgers were missing from out order but it could be due to being busy. Aircon too high! Lucky we had our coats on. Other than that, seems a convenient place to grab a quick lunch.

Although a very clean establishment the food was diabolical, fries were cold no salt and the wrap ordered were only half filled most of it was wrap along with the chicken being dry. Waste of money to be honest

They have started HALF filling the fries so I have reported them to TRADING STANDARDS. Also, have to pull up and wait for food now for every order which is a nightmare as they have to find you as the waiting bays are always full. Had to wait 20 minutes. This is not fast food. Comes out cold too. What are they doing???

The food and quality is absolutely disgusting, this has to be worst McDonald’s in it’s history, the restaurant is dirty cleanliness disgusting. And it keeps getting worse every time you go there! I will never return to this particular McDonald’s branch. They talk about equality and diversity the manageress Emily is a RACIST (if that’s actually her name) treated me differently compared to the treatment of other people, if you have food allergies / or you do not eat certain meat and you complain or ask for something to be changed she rolled her eyes and refused, I said to her it’s been done before, well I’m not doing it, she needs to be trained up with manners and etiquette understanding peoples needs and allergies and accommodating customers. It’s clearly disappointing to see an amazing brand like McDonald’s being poorly represented and tarnishing their name and reputation. The thing is certain members of staff in this store have been very helpful and welcoming in the past, but this particular individual Emily on numerous occasions has not been very nice. McDonald’s need to resolve these issues.
