McDonald's in Southampton

Mc Donalds as we know them in Germany. The branch was very clean and well attended. Nevertheless, the food came quickly.

Rude FOH staff .. asked a question “ do you usually close dine in at this time “ at around 8:45 pm .. left the restaurant because of here attitude was coming after a long drive from London to south east.

Ordered on Uber, waited 40 mins, called the Uber guy , he's been sat waiting for staff to make the food and no ones there working, idk what's going on there, it's supposed to be open,

Said it was open on google, walked the 10 minutes to it. Only open for deliveries or drive through. No mention of this on the app either. So even though we are outside, and they are right there…MAKING the food we would pay for….we have no way of buying it except to pay and wait for delivery… TO OUTSIDE THE STORE? Multiple other people in the same issue of walking up to the doors, and left with no options.

Visited on 20th December. Staff were an absolute joke. Ordered a cheesy mccrispy burger with only cheese slices and ketchup. Comes with only ketchup. I go back up and ask for the cheese slices in line with what we ordered. It comes back with cheese sauce. So I go up again to ask for the cheese slices and they take it back, flip the patty over and put the cheese slice on and hand it back!!! When it had already been specified 3x that we did not want any cheese sauce. The staff in the kitchen were moaning and swearing too when I sent the order back when they were the ones who couldn’t follow a simple request!! Someone needs to sort it out. The manager lady with black hair was very helpful though, feel sorry for her having to deal with those useless staff!

Rubbish fries had no salt on them and also tried to get some new ones at the counter and know one came to serve me also milk shake was not good just sloppy and was not thick

20 my mutes wait at the drive-thru, just to have someone from the staff shout at me “What is your ORDER”, not to mention the order was not taken right….

Always taking 2 hours to send me the order on the weekends. Then charge me for cancelling an order that took hours to get to my house. Get a grip.

Do McDonald's really care about the environment? They place great emphasis on recycling yet insist on pouring an extra coffee shot into a separate cup,despite being asked to put it on top of the original coffee. Apparently it's,"company policy ",just think how many cups could be saved from entering the recycling chain if they embraced the, "extra shot",mentality!!

Ridiculous and incompetent service. I rank this restaurant even lower now due to their poor deliveries, paying for any orders from this place is a waste of time. Customer service is extremely poor, food temperature is often bad. I've been there quite often and ordered directly, so I'm appalled at how bad the service and deliveries have become. They often forget items in orders, don't include sauces and refuse to resolve any issues caused by their incompetence. As with most things their prices have gone up, but not worth the price - prefer to go to the one in Shirley.

Long wait for food service and served Luke warm asked for food to be changed again waited ages and eventually got a refund as over 45 mins Team leader who issued refund needs customer service training as no apology was made. Yet the poor floor worker was so apologetic

After waiting for 15 minutes, our food was stone cold.

Restaurant was virtually empty, ignored w.hen trying to pay and food was cold and mush. I love McDonald's especially the Barrack road Christchurch one but this was poor 😢

If I could give less than one star I we were treated disgustingly by staff this evening we ordered through Uber eats and half the order was missing and what did come was wrong uber were no help we tried phoning McDonald’s no answer so reluctantly got out of bed got dressed and de-iced the car at midnight in 2degree weather and drove down to McDonald’s they refused to help or give the food we had ordered and paid for and shrugged their shoulders stating it wasn’t their fault or problem that they didn’t give the driver our food and then accused us of lying saying we could of just left the food at home so we are now out of pocket with half our food missing do they really think we would of defrosted the car driven all that way in the cold to just lie about getting the food McDonald’s you need to sort your staff out

I placed an order with Uber Eats, the delivery driver arrived with two bags and we took the order. Upon opening the order we realized half the order was missing. I contacted Uber Eats and they stated I am not eligible for a refund. We phoned the driver and he said they only gave him the bags we received. Rather angry with this, we tried to phone the store but no luck, so got dressed, de-iced the car and drove to the store. The person I spoke to said he would get it sorted by replacing our whole order (the food we received was also partly wrong) and would issue a refund on their end via Uber Eats. The guy came back and said his manager said no, they will not be doing this as its not their problem. I asked to speak to the manager and he said they give the food to the delivery driver and it's no longer their issue - even though the delivery driver stated he was only given what we received, meaning McDonald's would be at fault. I've been trying to contact Uber Eats but with their support via the app saying I'm not eligible for a refund, I don't have much hope. Meaning they've taken money from me, not delivered what I have paid for and both parties are refusing to cooperate or rectify this. I know it's only a McDonald's food order but it's very much the principle and terrible service in both companies that has effectively left me being robbed of money.

I am a long standing customer of McDonald's. I was just stopping in Southampton overnight for a work event. I thought my breakfast was sorted with McDonald's, I cycled up to McDonald's as I have done to many McDonald's. Although it seems that this McDonald's has a no cyclist policy. First time I've heard of this. I suspect it's a direct discrimination against hard working food delivery cyclists. Fortunately for me I have a folding bike, so could fold it up. Also fortunately for me their on-the-spot policy seems to allow folding bikes? If I was unable to fold my bike, would I need to lock up outside??? What if there's a new no locking bikes outside policy??? Feeling lucky I got my mediocre food. Was nearly a win for power hungry staff making up rules on the spot. Close call.

Chaos waited over half an hour for two items, some of the staff found the whole thing amusing, as people became very agitated over the long wait, and food when it eventually arrived was barely warm. Appalling.

Despite saying they’re 24h they refused to let us order at 10pm despite clearly being open. Huge disappointment after travelling all day!

Waited for half an hour and still queue not moving, didn't even get to the cash window. Prioritising deliveroo over drive through customers. Reversed out with two other cars. Don't bother going!

Despite telling Bahnu we were not in a vehicle on numerous times, he took our order made us wait in the queue then told us our order was cancelled. Appalling.

I wish I hadn't been trapped in the drive in queue. It took 30 minutes to get the order. I gave it straight back as the food was cold. The restaurant was very busy only with delivery drivers. The manager was clearly out of his depth. Appalling service and no apology

I walk 200 yards to find its drive through only at 5.00 am. So I go back get in car, drive the 200 yards. It takes 16 minutes just for a coffee ! Maybe this is due to very few repeat customers?

Nice conveniently located drive-thru to pick up some food, when picking up guest(s) from Southampton Coach or Train station.

As an Uber Eats partner, I feel compelled to share my concerns about the service at the McDonald’s location I frequently work with. Customers often endure waits of half an hour or more, only to be met with rudeness when they inquire about delays. Instead of providing explanations, management dismisses concerns by suggesting customers cancel their orders for a refund, which is unacceptable. This approach not only reflects a lack of accountability but also undermines the customer experience. I believe it is crucial for management to recognize that their policies should prioritize customer satisfaction rather than creating an unfriendly environment. The service quality here is astonishingly low and could very well earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for all the wrong reasons. Furthermore, I must emphasize the importance of hygiene, which I believe warrants your attention. For the benefit of future customers, I advise anyone using Uber Eats from this McDonald’s to expect significant delays. I hope my feedback prompts a review of the management practices at this location. 😒

A good location if you're planning on hopping on the ferry over to Isle of Wight. Just be careful with parking, you get one hour free then its chargeable thereafter.

Very fast service, despite my order not appearing on board via the app. Ordered a large meal and got small/medium at a push fries. Wrap of the day was poor,. Rarely nowadays, all the food was there that id ordered, albeit light on the fries. Could of ordered from hotel restaurant as had an allowance, but wanted quick food and this occasion, paid the price. Asian lass forfilling orders, was rushed off her feet and definitely needed a hand.

The West Quay Retail park McDonalds is a usual haunt for me if having to work the weekend and I appreciate that’s it is a busy location due to all the lucky people departing and arriving for the ships. With this is mind I kind of assume it will be busy and the staff are under a lot of pressure to fulfil orders and get orders out to waiting customers. Today was not a great day for McDonalds for a number of reason highlighted below. So my usually for a McDonald breakfast is the double sausage and egg McMuffin meal with a latte. Today’s picture shows what I got. I’m confused as to why it’s so greasy ??? I always order with no butter, it’s a child hood thing never liked butter but that’s a different story. So it’s not the butter and heat spilling out. I’m not sure what it is but I am sure of something, it certainly puts me off eating it! This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this either, whilst other times it has been perfect. The coffee was also off, with a real bitter taste which is often associated apparently according to my daughter, as they milk being heated up too much, but this can’t be the reason as it comes straight from the machine with no input of heating the milk. Staff - in a busy McDonald with lots of people you really need to have someone who has a voice! I feel that there needs to be more resources (staff) on getting the orders out. The order screen was full of orders completed and one poor person trying to get them out is unfair to them as has me and other customers waiting a long time to collect our orders. I’ve marked atmosphere as a two star because hungry people waiting = grumpy people especially when it’s heavy rain outside! I’ll see what the food is like next time I come for breakfast, however if it’s still what I got today I might very well give McDonald’s a miss in the future.

Never have hot drinks or milkshakes at night. Lazy service.

Good place where we spent time when shooting our Reality Show, documentary "Adventure(2024)" with Colored dots pictures. Music is a bit loud at times but hey it's good atmosphere.

Awful experience, standing there waiting to order and no staff was there to take order. When I asked if someone was going to take me order, got a very dismissive "in 2 seconds" from a rude staff, we left right away, stay away for sure

This is not mcdonald standard. This morning i Ordered Saus+egg muffin and the muffin was over burnt. The restaurant was not busy at all. I got my food in two minutes. When I asked for exchange the staff told me was normal to toasted in this way.

Manager is rude and obnoxious , had a issue wasn't resolved, never go back their again going to inform head office of how the manager spoke to me, I even have it recorded on my phone.

Dirty tables and slow service. Not many cusomers either. Very cold like many McDonalds for customers. kitchens are too hot for staff though. Some comfy seating is nice.

Stopped on my way to the Southampton foot ferry, 50 minutes to spare for a 4 car que at 9:30pm. Any reasonable person would assume that is more than enough time but this McDonald’s still managed to mess that up! 35 minutes later, still in the same 4 car que I had to run to the ferry. I didn’t order a Mc-marathon. 50 minutes later I got a text saying my partner had just received the food! That’s an embarrassing amount of time for a fast food restaurant. I had to watch the cashier run from the cashier point to the hand out window over and over again for the 35 minutes I was there. His step count must be wild! It is often slow here but this particular time was the worst. Don’t attend unless you have nothing but time.

McDonald's should really be classed as "Slow Food". Staff tonight were all youngsters and OMG are they so slow!

Wrong drink, toilets blocked with poo , chips over salted and some reason 4 pickled gerkins in my cheeseburger, worst McDonald's been to so far . And that's not just cause it's in Southampton food and everything was bad.

Used the drive through so cant really rate the atmosphere & there was quite a wait, they got my order mainly right just missed out a hash brown :( Seemed just like any other Maccys drive through though.

Rather small MC Donald's food was nice shame it's a pay and display car park best to just use the drive though and head home/elsewhere

I just came in for coffee, but the staff work very hard to provide a great service. The ordering panels had one failure which made it very busy, but they coped with it all and the customers were very patient.

I don’t normally write reviews on Google for fast food restaurants but considering this is the second time I’ve been here and had to wait over half an hour for my food, this restaurant deserves 1 star. Whatever happened to fast food?!

Order through Deliveroo, my driver has been there over 30 minutes and still telling me it’s going to take another 10 to make my order. As someone who worked for this place I’m aware it does not take over an hour from order to make 2 Big Mac meals. Will not be ordering again. Waste of time and food will likely be cold now

Lethargic staff who barely move at anything over a snails pace means the wait for terrible food is just ridiculous.

Fantastic experience for the kids, unfortunately it rained all day so the rides where closed... but there was still plenty to do and you get a free return within seven days

Despite the app saying it was open 24 hours, it wasn't. I waited in car park from 5.20 am until 6am only to be told it was take away only. They wouldn't even let me use the toilet, which I was desperate for after a three hour drive. The manager was rude, the hash browns barely warm. Really not nice. Usually if I don't have anything nice to say I skip the review but this restaurant needs sorting out. After standing outside for ten minutes in full view of the staff and being ignored as if I wasn't there, it is clear that this branch is managed for the benefit of themselves, not the customers.

Can’t rate the food because we couldn’t even get anyone to accept the order then when I approached the manager (a small guy who didn’t know what day it was) he said he would sort out the order so we could catch the ferry. Drove round twice to be ignored. Absolute joke of a place can’t believe what incompetence I have witnessed but then again it’s McDonald’s they aren’t really known for their intelligence

Very poor service, we went with our children for dine in arround 8.40pm and the cleaning lady and the Manager didn't allowed us to dine in. Cleaning lady was very rude.

Came at 3:20 am admittedly yes it it late but on the website it says open till 5AM to make sure I call before I leave and ask are you still taking drive through orders matey on the phone was rude as it was , pull up to drive through why do they tell me there shut ? The guy on the mic wasn’t even speaking English and could barely hear him as well no point in even bothering coming after 12 as this has happend multiple times

I ordered through the app. Items were missing, I phoned customer service and they issued a refund, Once I had gone back to serve the food, I noticed all my sauces were also missing. So I called again to have a very rude lady from customer service say there’s nothing they can do as a refund had already been issued for the previous missing items. So I called the store, for them to say also there’s nothing they can do. Absolutely disgusting as I’ve paid for them. And to top it off, all the chips were freezing cold. Nice one mc Donald’s. Just a pleasant little reminder to myself as to why I barely eat or order fast food.

Just walked over from the train station woke up ay 2:20am to start work this morning thought I could do with a pick me up to get me through the day. It was not open at 06.05 asked a staff member coming out what time walk in opens he said I don’t know maybe 6 maybe 6.30. Please could you advertise your opening time so people know. It is extremely frustrating to also be told you can’t go through the drive thru because you don’t have a car with you. I just want some food. Staff were extremely unhelpful.

Breakfast works well here. Excellent value and a much better range of breakfast choices these days. Only waited 5 mins for food.

Like many others, I was caught out by the false advertising around their opening times. Arrived at 10:20pm to discover their door was locked. Apparently they were only doing drive through, which I only found out because a staff member happened to be arriving for their shift at that time. So, apparently this place only wants money from those who own cars? Complained to McDonald's customer service and just received an arbitrary voucher, so I'm not sure they'll do much of anything to feed it back to the store.

Don't order at here. The staff will cancel your order.

Drive through- only part of the order given, so I had to ask for the ice cream. Once at home I realised the drink was also missing. All in all very poor service and the burger looked like it had been thrown together. Very disappointed, but I called the restaurant and they logged the complaint and a replacement will be given when I next go back.

The single worst McDonalds experience I’ve ever had - and that’s already a low bar. The night manager / supervisor (Jedda?) was arrogant, unhelpful, rude, patronising and offensive - not to mention unkempt and shabby. An appalling place with staff unfit for purpose. Avoid at all costs.

Service awful, they stock all food in the shut for 30 minutes, then they do all orders at once, they make people wait above 40 minutes just for one order this is ridiculous, there is no manager to ask a question. Awful management

Planned to come here while I wait for a coach change over for 1hr30. Advertised as being open 24/7 but store was closed when I arrived at 02:15 👎 I am now in the city and don’t feel like I have a safe space I can go to. Update your opening times!!!!!!

I wanted to have a burger at 11:30PM and the answer was: we can’t unless you’re in a car. This is a joke. I can’t walk in because it’s just drive through. Unbelievable.

Manageress Becca, refused to serve me on the till and told me I can only use the machine or I can’t eat here: I’m dyslexic and have trouble navigating the self service . I was shocked. Awful
