McDonald's in Monmouthshire

I'm reviewing on behalf of my mam, who visited with my brother just before Christmas, she said the guy cleaning the dining area was hard working (Dylan)

Cold burger with lettuce thrown in the box as an afterthought, cold undersized portion of fries and a coke that was light brown soda water. Awful, overpriced rubbish.

Want a bag with your order? If you say no, they give you everything separately out of the window. Thankfully, they do put the fries in a bag, but everything else comes at you individually... Seriously, I've often thought about driving away with the tray they sometimes pass through the window....but im a good boy, and give it back. Utter nonsense to charge for a biodegradable paper bag, IMO...

On average its very good. But at times it goes wrong . Cold food and missing food. Order double burger, get a single. Order coffee get hot chocolate. Order sauce get none. But still more reliable than others

Had the breakfast deal today, thumbs up to the chef, banging start to the day. Go on golden arches 👍👍👌👌

Absolutely awful customer service. Waited and ignored by service desk. Two staff chatting but didn't help. Manager walked past me but avoided me. Terrible service....

Clean but so slow with service!

Every time we purchase food we get the wrong items done. Or some missing it’s rubbish 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

Used drive through. Great service and food exactly as ordered. All piping hot. One of the best Mc Donald's I have found.

Fairly new branch, everything was ok.

Food was cold. Burgers taste like cardboard. However, the staff were helpful.

Ordered through the app and still waited over 20 minutes for food. I appreciate busier times, which means waiting a little bit longer, but the staff look overwhelmed and overworked. More staff members to take the pressure off would be a great service to this store.

Today I visited you abergavenny restaurant with my family, and I wanted to say how greatful i am of the kind ladie who was very kind and understanding with my autistic son and went above and beyond to help me calm him down. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name but thank you. x

Waited 45minutes no sign, a lovely member of staff then followed my order up, 15 minutes later some random member of staff then ask me “your orders missing ain’t it”, finally get home and it’s easier to eat my Temu sliders than these chicken nuggets

Was like about the 5th Cicle of Dantes version of hell. And surely McDonald's by now know when a fry/chip is actually cooked? Crispy and delicious would be even better!

Very busy and I tried to use the app but it was not working for some reason. But I guess that's not the fault of the restaurant

Its near impossible to visit this place and not have issues with service. We had to get out the car and go to speak to staff twice. We ordered on the app and parked in a bay so we didnt have to get out, received our order then had items missing. Got back in the car to eat said items and the burgers were plain, when we ordered extra pickles and it was meant to come with onions . By the time all this was sorted our food was cold and tasteless. Chips are always cold and like cardboard. Asked for no ice in drinks, they came with ice. Who is the overseer of operations? It's a bit more understandable if its hectic but its normally quiet when we visit. Always double check what people order and check whats in the bags before they leave the counters. Customers shouldnt have to complain multiple times to be able to get what they want.

The staff is very friendly. The place is neat and clean.

Food was ok. But the crispy chicken is far too spicy. Plus mayo was added even though I asked for it not to be added. If the non spicy option is so hot, what is the spicy like 😅👹

Very often stop at this McDonald's when heading this direction. Always clean with friendly staff and quick service.

tbh i’m outraged waited 40-50 minutes for 1 mcflurry staff almost sleeping and doing nothing only 1 hard working person who was kind enough to serve me thank god

Friendly staff, very helpful and good service. Food is as any other McDonald's. Very clean and tidy. No complaints. Thank you to the Abergavenny team. Good job :-)

Clean, with very friendly staff. Food IS sometimes presented cold or incorrect but is always replaced/changed promptly. My children love to go as a treat. Well done!

Would not recommend this place and won't be going there again. Waiting time was very long.

We ordered McFlurry's and were really disappointed to find the individual flavouring was just sprinkled on top of each one.

Ordered a coffee as I had enough points for a free one. Get to the service counter and was asked for 5p for a bag. Explained that coffee doesn’t come in a bag but was told that I couldn’t have my coffee unless I paid the 5p bag charge. Please note there is no way of ordering free items without having to pay the bag charge- but for coffee- really. Talk about insulting your customers

They do everything very slowly... You wait and wait to eat

So we ordered 2 meals they were large so had large fries, this is where the first complaint begins, they were barely half full, luckily I saw this before leaving and went back inside where I requested what I had paid for, the young lady was polite and did replace them. Then I left drove from about 5 miles and parked somewhere nicer to enjoy the meal, the double cheeseburger I ordered looked like road kill, if you held it up in front of you the left hand side of the top bun part was level with the right of the bottom and all the bits in between were squished, I rectified the problem and ate it. I also had a mayo chicken, this was near stone cold, I know I had driven for about 5 minutes but this was colder than that time would have allowed also the 'mayo' was minimal to the point I could barely taste it which made this incredibly dry, I contemplated driving back but parked in a layby on the dual carriageway I would have had to go 5 miles before I could turn around. All in all it is by far the worst meal I have had from any McDonalds, I appreciate they were busy but someone needs to be checking the quality of food they are selling.

Massive queue for takeaway, gave up

Orders consistently missing items I even ended up paying £38 for 2 happy meals. Absolutely disgusting customer service management are useless, don't know where they find these dreggs. Thanks mcdonalds these guys are a credit to you 👏

Lovely place to have a sneaky meal !! Kayleigh was lovely and helped me put my order in, and gave me a yummy apple pie. Unfortunately my chips were cold, which actually is becoming a regular occurrence, at these establishments. Being able to sit outside with a gorgeous view made up for that. Will drop in again if passing and would recommend.

Always use drive thru and either park up outside or by river usk on meadows. Staff are all friendly, clean/tidy outside, I've never driven into restaurant as can't get mobility scooter inside, but I prefer to be outside. Mc plant for vegans is really nice, it's the only meal I eat once a week or there abouts. It's like a trip to see friends and it's a safe place to go/be.

Went in for lunch with my son today to the Abergavenny branch and the only soft drinks avavaible were all diet. Normal Coca cola was unavailable, out of stock. How can mcdonalds not have coca cola. I cannot drink diet drinks. It is shocking that such a big company runs out of coca cola. Very disappointed.

Food was really really horrible. Absolutely no taste!

I'm local and fat so here on the regular. One of the better ones I've visited tbh, service is usually decent and efficient, its clean and the staff are friendly.

Lovely pit stop on my drive! Staff were super friendly and Alex was lovely lovely with my dogs, and even refilled their water bottle for me whilst we sat outside in the shade!

Used drive-in, order received not correct and food was cold.

Just got home after ordering through the drive through and when I went to the window to collect my food the man at the window handed me a water that was meant to me a coke but fortunately got it resolved even though then gave me a medium even though I had ordered a large and said I’d pay the difference, just got home to find the cheese melts I had ordered had been mixed up for a double cheese burger, can’t be charging a premium for fast food it you can’t get what you ordered :/

Not much to say,it's McDonald's so you know what you're getting.

The service is generally very poor, and watching some of the staff is like watching a scene in the walking dead!

This place is great, good food and great service. However as a Brit coming to wales for the first time having to pay 5p for a paper bag really did make me upset… I am absolutely fortified at paying 5p for some rubbish back that just split open on my way home. If I were you bring a bag for life… shocking but amazing…

I really liked it and I hope my daughter does too) It was just Easter Saturday. , and there was a lot of decoration, pencils, and you could also make an applique yourself). The menu was wonderful as always) Highly appreciated 👌🙌💯

Why are you charging 5 pence for a bag when you gave me one for free… seems like you are scamming a lot of elderly people who do not understand how your disgusting scam works. I luckily didn’t fall into your vile trap. I would never get this kind of outrageous behaviour in Bristol!! Get this sorted. Certainly never returning again!!

Doesn't seem to matter what you order they never seem to be able to complete a order without forgetting something. The delivery always have items missing then you have to contact delivery company for refund of item so still no missing items.

The food was served to table after ordering self service. The food arrived correct and hot.

Well, the staff were so lovely, just a shame my food was covered in so much ketchup the bun was all soggy!

McDonald's never disappoints! Their burgers are juicy, fries crispy, and shakes heavenly. Quick service and consistent flavors keep me coming back for more.

The server did not appear to want to be there, tossed the bag on the counter, and then threw the sauce in the bag with no care.

Staff are so so so friendly and amazing. Went in and you could tell they were short staffed that day and a bit frazzled but that didn’t stop them from giving amazing service - Ladies you are all fabulous and work amazingly as a team!

Burgers are thrown together and building is really cold staff are always nice 😆

I found 2 long hairs in my bigmac when I got home so not happy I got it at Abergavenny and I'm from brynmawr so didn't go back and it wasn't my hair as I have short hair

First time here and food was lovely, fresh and staff were friendly.

V slow service. Breakfast meal wasn't up to the usual standard.

Absolutely livid, food finally came after waiting for an hour and half, then didn't turn up with drinks, food is stone cold and after ringing McDonald's to complain they said that there was nothing they co do as it was through Uber eats when we ordered from the my McDonald's app. Fuming is an understatement. Not paying for cold food and drinks that don't turn up. Will never order from there again as it's a complete rip off!!!

This was one of the cleanest McDonald's we have been to! Top class....

Chips were pale and not really crispy, wrong sauce in my burger. Milkshake was spot on. And nuggets I had were decent.

Had a double cheese burger and a coffee.. believe it or not, this was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time.. top marks to the person who cooked it.. 😊

Actually missed the burger out of a Big Mac….!😂 Don’t just check your order, you need to check it actually has the food in the box..! Returned again…..how many chicken selects should you get in a 5 piece box?!? Obviously this needs to be part of the training as I only got 4!!!! Can you give a zero to the worst McDonald’s in the UK??!? Without a doubt the worst McDonald’s for getting your order incorrect. Yet again a total disappointment. How can you miss chips from an order?!?!

Cold food incorrect order, no counter staff

I like the convenience of mcdonalds when you're too busy to cook. Sometimes staff don't speak to you at the window, and they don't ask you if you want condiments or anything, so customer service etiquette could be better. Sometimes they run out of certain things. Sometimes the food is cold. Sometimes they don't fill your fries box up, and you get less than you've paid for. They no longer open 24 hours which is inconvenient. I don't recommend the McCrispy, it's spicy enough, without actually buying the spicy one. On the upside, I always see them emptying bins, and the grounds are fairly clean and tidy, and it's 5 * rated which is good.

As far as mcdonalds go it's good, carpark not big enough, staff always nice and very fast compared to pontypool

Visited the farm for the cafe, food was great I had the chicken burger with coleslaw and fries free entry, the farm has a visitors centre for all visitors and there is a fee for this section, views from the garden overlooked the sea a very worthwhile place to visit. The cafe and shop was well worth a visit, walkers are welcome to visit and eat. I was a single traveller the children's play are and visitors centre looked fab.

Had 2 mac chicken sandwich meals.Realised when I got home I had been overcharged by 80 pence

Wait time is reasonable but can be longer during peak times. We usually click and collect as we prefer to eat at home. There had been times when my husband had to go back as something is missing (I'm not talking about dips). Luckily we live nearby.

Spicy burger overcooked to the point where chicken was non existent. Replacement was better but very dry.

Shocking amount of chips missing from my large fries. Relying on it being too time consuming and difficult to go back and complain once you've driven away.
