Sammy is a really nice lass, very chatty and high spirited. Served us our food at the table and ensured we were satisfied throughout. Guinness pours are unbeaten at Mcafferty's - nowhere in Halifax compares.

Alysha and Leah were absolutely spot on with their service for our brunch. They were both so accommodating and friendly like they could’ve joined us. 10/10 service.

Great food, place a bit utilitarian, plenty of parking. I understand from the residents the traffic wardens are like mustard - parking restrictions 8 till 8 - be careful. Huge TVs plastered on every wall if you like sport.

Awful experience me and my friends where having a nice night out and as I popped over to the bar one of the staff her name was Chelsey barged passed me with a face on and muttered “can fat people just f@ck off ” I took this to heart as I’m not exactly a petite girl like her and I thought it was horrible it was my first time in there as well and it will definitely be my last.

Large and very well designed Irish themed bar Dropped in on an afternoon for food and it was much better than I expected. Prices decent, good atmosphere but I’m willing to bet this place is at its best at weekends when the Guinness is flying

Awful experience. Glass collecter stormed past grabbing glasses, however didn't check they were empty first. Double Hinch whiskey spilled over the table and onto my leg. Tried to speak to bar staff. Asked if I was OK, soggily replied no. I explained my issue, offered my leg for olifactory confirmation of the issue. I was told to take a step back. At this point I would like to point out I am 58 Yr old, was sober, and had just exited a Brian Cox cosmology lecture. I was told to stand back. I repeated my explanation and was met with a "what do you want me to do about it." I thought, "replace my drink please" not unreasonable but was met with a blank face and a shoulder shrug. We left.

Called in whilst out for a walk. Asked if dogs were allowed inside prior to bringing our small mutts in, young lad behind the counter said no problem. After we had ordered we were told by another, very grumpy man that we couldn't sit inside with dogs... When we advised him that we had asked if it was ok he said " you didn't ask me" Shame about the small grumpy man as the food and coffee was good!.

Normally they do fantastic food and portion sizes. My favourite is the jacket potato, cheese and beans but today when I got it. All the potatoes barely had any beans and cheese on them. That oozing overflow in the container which marks it different from other takeaways wasn’t there. They felt light and as my daughter even questioned “is there any tuna in this?” It tasted very bland and dry! If they remain tight like this, it’s not worth the price or taste. Hopefully it was a one off! My food rating was for today. Otherwise normally I would give it a 5 for potato and 3 for the other options.
