Excellent very tasty food, friendly staff, decent value. Family meal for 5 - everyone very happy with their choices of sharing starters and mains - all delicious.

Greeted by very friendly staff. Every table in there is well positioned within the medieval framework. I ordered the Chicken Beyti which is seasoned chicken in flatbread with garlic and mint yoghurt with rich tomato sauce and rice which was exceptional. My companions had chicken skewers and the garden special. Both very good. Prices good and staff exceptional.

I walked into the town centre whilst stopping at the Premier Inn. I visited this restaurant without a prior booking and was seated without any issues. The staff were great, friendly and really pleasant. The food was outstanding, meat cooked to absolute perfection and oozing with flavours. A fantastic meal and I’ll hopefully visit again soon.

Honestly one of the best meals out I have had in years. Delicious, interesting and flavoursome food and great service to go with it. Can’t wait to go back!

We had a lovely evening meal here and so good that we returned for lunch the next day. Lovely cold meze starter- very fresh and homemade, lamb with smoked aubergine. For lunch next day: Greek omelette, vegetarian moussaka. All excellent and at a reasonable price.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend and we were pleased we took her advice. The choice and quality of food was excellent, prices very reasonable and service was friendly and very efficient. Overall, we had a most enjoyable meal.

3 of us had a early Friday night booking. Welcome was warm and the place soon filled up. If you like no nonsense Turkish food then this is spot on. Superb cold meze followed by excellent lamb and chicken shish couldn’t be faulted. A bottle of Yakut red wine helped it down. Including the baclava.

Came for lunch with our sone and our grandson so it was important that there was a high chair as he is only two and a half. When we booked they were very helpful even asking how many high chairs we needed! At the end of the day we had a beautiful lunch in lovely surroundings in a very relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful authentic Turkish food. Thank You !

I’ve always liked the food here and my wife and I thought we would pop in for lunch. I have to say the food was nice, however I was less than impressed with the service. I felt like we were just a nuisance and everything was rushed. I asked for ketchup and he just brought over a massive bottle and slammed it onto the table. Everything felt money oriented and almost annoyance we didn’t spend more (our bill was over £30 for lunch) I have to say it made us feel a bit uncomfortable, especially with a little baby and with the amount of competition in Saffron Walden I do find the service in some places quite shocking. I would have to think twice about going again- which is a shame as it’s somewhere we have gone fairly often.

One of the nicest burgers I've had with lovely fresh bread on the bun- not stodgy or dry at all. Delicious chicken with houloumi! The cheesecake was incredible - creamy and sweet. Lovely valentine's lunch! Pretty ambience too with the the old style rafters and low ceilings. But not dingy.

We had an amazing birthday meal here last night with friends, it's my favourite restaurant. Once again the food and service was excellent. Unfortunately the night was ruined as I didn't see the step down to the toilets, fell and really hurt myself. So, if you go please be really careful!

I went to maze for lunch this afternoon and food the place was very clean and well presented. We had a amazing starter followed by amazing and very proper Turkish food. I have seen the owner there a few times but there seem to be a new lad there which was more then just helpful he had a smile and could tell he enjoyed working for the restaurant and will definitely be back if I am serviced by these gentleman again. My husband and I were staying with a friend who lives in Saffron Walden, and she booked a table for us to take her out for an evening meal here and we had such a lovely time. The service was excellent, as was the food. Couldn't have asked for more. So much choice. If we lived nearer we would definitely dine there often!

Warm welcome, wonderful food and surprisingly good Turkish wine. Not my first Turkish meal, but my first Turkish wine. We had excellent starters and equally brilliant main courses. I don’t review everywhere I eat, but I do recall a couple of things about this place, one was to give them a proper TripAdvisor review and the other, apart from the Turkish wine, I may have mentioned that already, was that both my girlfriend and I had dish envy, and after tasting each other’s both resolved to come back so that we could swap again. Regrettably, I don’t recall what we had, but this was hands down the best Turkish food I have ever tasted.

Decided with group of friends to try Meze again following a very poor experience earlier with service in the summer. All going well, cant complain about the food which was great, and we all decided it had been a good choice. Sadly it ended with a very sour taste with the staff, who after we paid,then realised they had made a mistake on the bill, and came back and made us pay the service charge seperately. Never ever experienced this anywhere. Most establishments would have sucked it up. Afterall its only equivalent of maybe a bottle of wine , and not then charged another £12 a couple to cover the tip! we will not be returning, and will warn others to check their bills.

Portion sizes were OK - not "big".If you are familiar with authentic Turkish food, you might find the offering rather bland - and no bread was given to accompany either first or main courses. Food was fantastic, strongly recommend the meze sharer starter. We both had a lovely time and the food was so fresh, a flavour sensation. You could tell the food was freshly prepared and it was well presented. The staff were friendly and attentive and we felt very welcome there. The cocktails were lovely too. I came here on a Friday evening with my girlfriend. We were greeted at the door by the staff who were all very nice. We were lucky to get the last table as we hadn’t booked! We sat down and quickly ordered drinks. There is a great variety of food on the menu. For starter I had Halloumi and my girlfriend had Calamari which we enjoyed. For main we had the mixed grill and lamb chops. All dishes were very generous portions, you definitely got what you paid for (and more!).

I love going to this restaurant daytime and evening with family and friends. The owners are lovely and make you feel welcome. If your not sure what to have they will spend time with you explaining the menu and getting your experience just right. You can have cafe style food and also amazing home cooked Turkish food and desserts. LOVE IT

Waited nearly a hour when it was almost empty ordered a prawn sandwich it was like fishy cat food and the waiter tried to row with me saying it looked like a prawn sandwich and they all started. Was very weird.

The restaurant is attractive and comfortable; the service is friendly, welcoming and attentive. Most importantly, the food is superb. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious; the portion sizes are great and the prices are very reasonable. I've never been disappointed and would recommend it to anyone, whether it's the café during the day or the restaurant in the evening. Can't wait to go back again!

We were out with family and friends they recommended this place. It was a Saturday night but not all the tables were full, the service of food was very slow because they were busy! They gave us pitta bread because our food took so long, what a joke it was 5 tiny strips, why bother.

I came here last month for the first time to have dinner and I have to say that it was great! The food was lovely- and comes in big portions and was very tasty! I would totally recommend the mixed mezze starter with the warm Turkish bread- the dips are beautiful. The service was excellent, the staff were prompt with drinks ordering and serving.

It's hard to put down a small, local business and I always try and champion the 'under-dog' against the chains, but this place didn't quiute hit the mark for me.

He visitado este restaurante la última noche de mi madre en leyes 70th, y debo decir que me quedé muy impresionado. Llamamos a Laberinto en una recomendación de amigos, pero nos hubiera gustado! El personal parecía desinteresado y apenas nos reconoció. Sin embargo, peor fue que vendrá cuando justo después de nuestra llegada a un grupo de mujeres y 5 niños pequeños llegamos. Estos eran obviamente amigos o parientes de los camareros. Que todos los niños sentados en una mesa junto a la nuestra y la de las mujeres se sentaron en otra mesa y básicamente ignorado sus vacaciones.

We have visited the coffee shop on a number of occasions. At 6 it turns into a Turkish restaurant and we decided to stay late in Saffron Waldon to try it out. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great and the service excellent. The food was fantastic. We will definitely return would certainly recommend.

For many years Maze was off limits for me because my wife was disabled and with the best will in the world nobody could make this place wheelchair accessible. Now, sadly, the problem has gone away and I was able to try it out for lunch m with my niece. It's good news; improbably large inside, and pleasant surroundings among SW's Saturday lunchers. Our wraps and salads were just a bit slow in appearing (it was our teenage waitress's first day) but were well made and very enjoyable. Good coffee too, and a nice selection of teas. The Turkish influence is evident but not overpowering, and after I had admired his ethnic tablecloths, the owner kindly sold me one for a very fair price. It will be my default Saturday lunch spot after my habitual snoop round the market.

We popped in here to try this restaurant out as we planned to have our daughters birthday meal here. Service was slow, food ok but when we came to leave the two brothers - owners - were more interested in a phone call about some portions and how many the supplier had that they did not even bother to say - thank you or goodbye. So bye bye big birthday meal - we will take our customer elsewhere. What a shame

Having had a restaurant myself, I know only too well how difficult it is with increasingly onerous overheads. Businesses really need to maximise their income and so to cater for daytime and evening trade becomes ever more necessary. Maze does it wonderfully well. It's a cafe and Tea shop by day and a very good restaurant at night.I've samples all of its incarnations and have never been disappointed.Last weekend, 4 of us had an evening meal which all of us were suitably impressed with. The menu has something for everyone, the quality is very good and you won't bust the bank even with the wines.I hesitate to recommend individual dishes as it's so subjective but if I order calamari I want it to be fresh, hot and, if battered, crispy and light. Box ticked.

Decided to try the Maze for breakfast for a change rather than the usual costa starbucks etc. From the moment we walked in we felt very welcomed, all staff are very friendly. We ordered a wrap and panini, both very nice and bill in total came to £20 for the both of us. Will definitely be going back here and think I've found a new favourite in Walden!

I have been visiting this cafe with family over the last 10 odd years, it's independently run which is a big personal plus for me. Service, atmosphere and food never fails to impress. Always leaves my grandad very satisfied - which is a big compliment coming from him! Amazing range of quality food served in generous portions. I've never left unsatisfied or craving more. Their salads and omelettes are particularly delicious and their coffee is really tasty! Definitely worth a visit, and easily a family favourite of saffron walden town!

We visited this coffee shop just before lunchtime midweek. Our order was taken promptly even though there were quite a few customers already and lunch arrived within a few minutes. We enjoyed good americano and cappuccino coffees and had a mozzarella panini and jacket potato with tuna. Both were fresh and tasty and each accompanied by a small garnish that would have been even better if not already covered in a balsamic type dressing. A good place to have a light lunch and meet friends.
