Honestly, an incredible pub. Hopped in to watch the Arsenal game with my 6 month old and the staff were so kind and helpful. Great drinker's pub.

Went in for a drink along with my family while on holiday in the area. As soon as the bar staff heard our Scots accents, we were immediately met with comtempt, then ignored for the two minutes we remained on the premises!! Their loss was Wetherspoons gain!!😡

Popped in whilst on a ladies footy reunion night.

Four old rugby fans went to see England get beaten by Australia. We didn't know the pub, but were welcomed with open arms by the landlord, Ian, his sister-in-law and by the regulars. Really nice beers and bacon butties. A nice mixed crew of young and old, men and women, and the occasional baby! Two lovely labradors made sure we finished our food! Good outdoor area too. We are definitely going back.

Went to watch British Lions match gr8 atmosphere & locals were so friendly, staff & beer superb. If you're in Saffron Walden I recommend you visit.

Really like this place. It's a warm, family run pub with friendly dogs and locals. They also serve the best San Miguel in Saffron Walden.

Been really impressed with the duke and how they are managing Covid. Feel very safe and feel like they take it very seriously.

I have visited the Duke occasionally to watch football over the years on this visit I paid for my first drink with coins then my second drink with a twenty pound note and then given change for a ten I immediately flagged this up and told by the owners partner and bar maid I paid with a ten this would have been impossible as I only had twenties I was then abused by a foul mouthed customer and the owner Ian when called said he had to believe his partner and staff but would cash up till to verify the mistake he has contacted me to say the mistake is mine . I will add this is the first time there has been a discrepancy but if you wish to avoid being short changed and my advice is never pay by card as if the owners partner and staff can lie over a tenner then just imagine what they could do with your card then have your dignity and intelligence insulted then avoid using this pup .

Vimos el partido de Leones 1 calle de prueba - un buen ambiente. Mucho sentimos como un sitio de gente, pero muy acogedor. Buenos sandwiches bacon! El servicio era lento a veces - en la temporada más concurrida cartel interesante en el Ladies loo!

Vinimos a este pub para un almuerzo en el cumpleaños de mi novio. Yo tenía un cordero kofte con pedido tzatziki y él tenía un cerdo y apple con patatas fritas y ensalada hamburguesa. Ambas eran deliciosas comidas, disfrutamos de un ambiente encantador, con un personal estupendo, mi favorito pub en saffron walden! Un ambiente cálido y amable, nos sentimos como en casa.

El duque de York, es sin duda un "local". Para la comida, sólo sirven el almuerzo. Por la noche, tiene una pequeña multitud (10 - 15) Las personas de recolección barrio por una pinta o dos. Si estás buscando un respiro paseando por la ciudad, un buen lugar para una rápida pinta.

Great pub. Come here to watch the footy. Our little dog is always welcome. The staff are really friendly and efficient. The selection of drinks are good and the price is reasonable. Good atmosphere and nice crowd. Thumbs up.

We had to grab a quick meal between a rehearsal and a concert. Although the manageress was single handed (serving at the bar / cooking food / serving meals) our food came very quickly, and with a smile. Traditional pub menu; varied guest ales. Would certainly return there. (In fact, went back there after the concert for a pint of guest, since the Temeraire was full of screaming adolescents !)
