Loved their iced coffee milkshake with hazelnut syrup and their cakes, especially the almond flour cake with slices of peach!! Such a lovely staff too! :)

Great lunch menu and wonderful service.

Prawn and crab quiche is delight and delicious. Lemon mayo and side salad are greatly paired. Service is excellent…atmosphere is bustling and vibrant. Highly recommend!!!

Great food, great staff. Prepared to order. Consistent quality at sensible prices. Interesting daily specials. Smoked salmon, tomato and horseradish toastie the day we went. Ours came with really fresh side salads. Gets busy so booking may be advisable. I couldn't resist a nibble before taking my photo...

A excellent value place to eat. It was wonderful to see a restaurant so busy… we had to wait 20 minutes for a table but it wasn’t hard to pass the time, as Gluttons is right in the middle of the Market area of this lovely town. So lots of excellent shops to explore! When we took our table we soon found out why the restaurant is so popular! The staff are lovely, and quickly took our order from the delicious sounding options on the Menu… everything was reasonably priced and full of fresh ingredients. When our food arrived it certainly didn’t disappoint … well presented, well cooked fresh ingredients and more than ample portions… my little granddaughters eyes lit up when her ‘child’s’ meal arrived! The food was as delicious as the Menu promised and when I went to pay the bill, I was pleasantly surprised at the total .. I did a bit of a double take! The best lunchtime meal at the best price I’ve had in a restaurant in this country for a long time! Unusually for me at this time of huge restaurant price increases … I left a tip. Gluttons food and the staff deserved it! Well recommended … I bet the breakfasts are delicious too! Will definitely be visiting again.

THE most amazing cafe hidden off the market square … wow wow wow … THE best jackets … most delicious soup … Yorkshire tea … and lemon drizzle (we were supposed to share) which went in a nanosecond. 😋😉🤭🤣 Definitely deserves its Trip Advisor 5 star rating. 👍🤩

The most awesome lunch I had all day, actually all week - I lie, the baked cheesecake is to die for. Deffo coming back, great prices too.

I decided to go to Gluttons last week to give it a try as the reviews are excellent. It was easy to find, but I'm not sure if you were disabled how you would climb those stairs, maybe there is another entrance. I was greeted on arrival and as it was approx 10:30am plenty of choice of seating. The place looked pleasant, clean and the staff attentive. They took my order which was an Americano and a toasted sausage sandwich, nothing too differcult. It came back in around 10 minutes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I paid up and left after 30 minutes and would go back again, the staff look after you and the place is clean, fresh and modern. Well done!

Visited 23/03/2024. We really enjoyed our visit here. This is the first time we have tried this cafe and it was incredible! The food was amazing and the menu was large (with specials) but not overwhelming. The main highlight for us was the friendliness of the staff - they went above and beyond to make our visit lovely.

The staff were very friendly,& helpful. The food was excellent. The day we were there, we were given the table in the waiting area,I almost got up to leave,as people waiting to be seated kept hitting my chair,or putting their bottoms almost in my plate. The table near the step to the entrance to the restaurant should be moved slightly please!!!!

Really good food but it suffers a bit from its own success. Expect to wait 15-30 minutes for a table on a Saturday

Whether it's breakfast or working lunch I have always have excellent service. The quality of food served is consistently good and portion size finely tuned. When I'm working I try not block a table when it gets busy but I am never hurried along. The only downside, if it's your thing, is that as it's upstairs you don't get to people watch as much.

We love Gluttons! The food is incredible and the staff are just brilliant. The portions are exactly right when you are paying to eat out. The staff are brilliant however the owners go above and beyond to accommodate you and look after you. Such hardworking people too. Gluttons is always busy so if you are planning a lunch date, book ahead! We tend to pop in 2 days a week for lunch and have to wait 10 or so minutes however if you have a reservation you wont have to wait long. Fantastic lunch cafe!

You couldn't find nicer, friendlier staff. Delicious sandwiches on sourdough, top chips in a lovely, cosy setting.

This really is one of Saffron Walden's hidden gems. Its so close to the Market square yet easy to miss as its on the first floor with a single door entrance. After giving this place a miss for many months my wife and I decided to pop up the stairs to see what exactly we would find. We were both expecting to a rather small, fairly basic tea room but to our amazement it was quite large inside, very bright , tastefully decorated with an open kitchen. Really lovely space with a great friendly atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and professional. I had the mushroom quiche which was amazing and my wife had a toasted ham and mushroom sandwich which was excellent also. We will be back.

Wow. A real gem of a place. Staff are amazing and attentive. Prices great for the standard and quality of food. Food choices are wonderful especially being a vegetarian. Lots of choices for all tastes. I had Charlotte as our waitress and she was absolutely lovely. Offered up her advice on the food. I opted for Jacket with Cheese & Garlic Mushrooms, deliciousness on a plate. My friend had a Toastie. Very good too. Atmosphere was great and calming. I am definitely coming back when next in the Saffron Walden area. Sorry Charlotte!! Chatty Paul x

Had the big breakfast it was absolutely unbelievable black pudding was excellent went down very well with an orange juice from a local business which was nice to see and a nice hot cappuccino. Waiters and staff were 5 star very friendly and as I paid my very cheap bill at the end considering the quality of the food , I noticed a cake display which looked amazing as well. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back.!!!

This place is a hidden treasure. Clean and simple decor. Worth the money for the experience of quality food, customer care and away from hussle of outside, yet right in the middle of it. All the staff were so friendly and causally welcoming. Not false. You could see they took pride in working there and genuinely wanted to please the customer. Amazing quality of food and no changes were too much. I ordered smashed avocado, with pouched eggs and completly changed everything apart from the avocado! It was delicious and plentiful that I couldn't finish it. Definitely the best breakfast I have ever enjoyed. Just wished I lived local!

My husband and I cycled down from Cambridge a few weeks ago and were lucky enough to find this brilliant café. Excellent service, delicious salads, and divine coffee and cakes. A real treat. Sadly, as we live in Yorkshire we won't be able to return too soon, but highly recommend that you call in whenever you can if you are visiting the town or you live nearby. Top marks from us!

First time experience and boy was I impressed by the choice of foods, generous portion sizes and tasty food. On this occasion I was treating my mum to a late mothers day lunch and the afternoon tea was amazing. The sandwich choices were great and being able to have a preference for sandwiches served. I was surprised by the toastie included as traditionally afternoon tea is four sandwich choices, scones and cakes. The size of both scones and cakes was massive in comparison with all being very tasty. Both the plum tart was my favourite being very moist, soft and melt in the mouth texture making for a pleasurable meal. Overall gluttons is the place to go for a lunch in town and highly recommend trying any of the sandwiches or afternoon tea. Will be returning again for the pancakes for sure.

Love this cafe for a decent lunch in town. Only thing I wish they'd change is the lighting - it's so bright in there. I'm a warm lighting kind of person.

I enjoyed a cheese and mushroom jacket potato with side salad and my friend a turkey plus trimmings sandwich. We followed up with warm mince pies topped with clotted cream and a couple of pots of tea Prices are reasonable for the quality and staff were attentive and friendly would deffinely recommend this cafe Good covid practice i.e wiping down tables before use

Fabulous place to meet a friend for brunch - flawless excellent food and service. We enjoyed delicious eggs benedict royale and eggs florentine, superb coffee and exceptional service. This place is an absolute MUST for anyone in Saffron Walden.

One of the best places i have eaten in. Great food, attentive polite staff and a great atmosphere. The food is on the high side but i think worth it.

I had a craving for cheesecake a few days ago. Having not found something to my liking in the town, I tried my luck at the Gluttons.There it was, a beautiful cherry ripple cheesecake, in the display fridge. 🍒 The staff warmly and joyfully welcomed me in and introduced me to the range of cakes and other baked goods on offer. I stuck to my choice of cheesecake and that didn't disappoint at all. It was rich, creamy, not too tart, and of a decent portion size. I also liked the relaxing ambience with an original architecture featuring naked timber beams and pillars. The place was also spotlessly clean and I felt really COVID-safe there. 😌 Just before I left (5 mins to closing time), I also inadvertently got to witness how the Gluttons team extended the same kind of warm welcome to three diners who were looking for some proper food and drink. What the diners didn't realise was that the cafe was in fact closing, but the staff didn't give that away and continued to serve them as normal. I of course didn't say anything either and played along! 😉 It's just so heart-warming! ❣️ This amazing level of customer care is a good enough reason for me to return to support this local, family business. Yesterday my wife and I went from Bishop's Stortford to meet a friend in Saffron Walden and we were looking for a place to eat together at 4 pm. At that time everything was closed in town. Our friend tells us to visit Gluttons. Once there we were received by a young lady in a friendly manner, she suggested to take a seat wherever we wished. We had a Corean chicken hamburger and a Special Salad, our friend only a muffin with jam and butter and a tea. Everything was prepared very fast and clean, on beautiful dishes. We passed a very nice time there. We left at 5:15 pm and once outside I've noticed that the place should be closed at 4 pm! That was an incredible surprise to feel that we were very well admitted and that they never suggest that we should go, despite we arrived at closing time. We appreciate that and wish to thank these courteous persons! I must say that the two staff members are very beautiful, kind and clever women (sorry I didn't take their names). The chef went to ask if everything was fine with the food (that we finish completely as they offered excellent dishes!). The young lady had a smile and nice manners all the time. My wife and I will have a nice memory of this visit and as soon as we have the opportunity will come back to Saffron Walden and Gluttons with my daughter and son in law. Thank you very much indeed for everything!

Absolutely 5 stars hands down! Perfectly situated upstairs away from the hussle of the market. Open airy and light restaurant. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is lovely, it's fresh it's modern it's beautifully made and arranged. Tastes so fresh. You can tell they fully buy cheap ingredients or produce. I had a prawn avocado sandwich with a kids pasta meal. Very nice and tasty, all made too order. (they have high chairs) The black pudding scotch egg platter looked amazing. Lit forgot to check out the specials board If your visiting Saffron Walden for the day, I highly recommend that you go here to eat (I'd definitely pre book) Honestly you will not be disappointed.

Gluttons is absolutely wonderful and a real find, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is superb, fresh, quality produce, with very generous portions at a very reasonable price. The restaurant is very hygienic and clean to such an extent that we are happy to bring our eight month old baby here without any concern, especially at this terrible unprecedented time with COVID-19. There are a number of hand sanitiser stations, tables are cleaned thoroughly and spaced accordingly, the front of house staff where masks. The menu offers a fantastic variety. We particularly recommend the fantastic afternoon tea and The Big breakfast.

VERY COVID SAFE ! My family and I visited last weekend . Plenty of hand foam stations when you arrive at the bottom and at the top of the stairs . Staff were wearing visors and plenty of hand washing Was taking place and using hand foam in between Serving . Obviously very difficult times for staff at present and my waitress was fantastic. The food as always great . I had the Korean Burger , my wife opted for the garlic mushroom Brie toastie . My children opted for the kids pasta . All great ! Well done Gluttons See you soon

‼️ NOT COVID SAFE ‼️ — Staff were not wearing any masks/protective visors — One member of staff I watched take food from another table and clear away and then proceed to serve me food straight after (where was them washing their hands or hand sanitising in between?) In this current climate I would have thought a place like this which I have previously enjoyed before pre-COVID would do everything they could to make a safe and clean environment but unfortunately that was not my experience when coming in for food. Other food places in town are much more COVID safe and friendly so really there is no excuse and these places are where my money/recommendations shall go from now on. ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— REPLY: Visors/masks have not been worn TWICE when i have visited, not just this one time when I wrote the review. I also have had friends who have gone to your establishment and reported the same thing so this isn’t a one time occurrence because of stock issues with the visors. (Also even if there were stock issues with the visors why could masks not have been worn? Masks you seemed to wear in your itv interview?) I have no way of knowing about the other things you have mentioned but I hope they are true — as everyone deserves to feel safe when going out to eat.

My wife and I often go to Saffron Walden pleasant wander around but always go to Gluttons’s for lunch Tuesday however we had afternoon tea sandwiches scones clotted cream strawberry jam to finish cakes impossible to eat it all excellent value service and air conditioning perfect

We had the most delicious lunch today at Gluttons. It was quite exceptional actually. Fantastic quality ingredients prepared with care and served by courteous staff. The Seasonal salad with halloumi was out of this world!!!! Fabulous fabulous fabulous plus the toffee apple slice!!!!!

A favourite place to eat good food

Stopped for breakfast last Saturday. Really friendly staff very busy place. They have a good menu plenty of options. Our coffee and teas were good and so was the breakfast. Crushed Advocado and eggs, everything is prepared fresh. Nicely laid out plenty of seating. They do not rush you at all.

Lunch from the specials board! We popped in for lunch today and I always try and order from the specials board. They have such great choices, something a bit unusual and something for everyone and I always peek at the desserts so I know what to save room for. We had lovely coffees (i only ordered a small which I later regretted) and two toasties. Couldn’t fault it. I’ve been raving about Gluttons for ages and have never been disappointed, a great stop for lunch and a treat! Don’t even get me started on the tiramisu cake!!

5* service and 5* food at Gluttons Restaurant in Saffron Walden. We opted for the Christmas Special menu which was absolutely delicious. We had three courses including a traditional Turkey Dinner which was just divine . The restaurant was atmospheric with a live singer and the finishing touches with crackers on the table made our lunch extra special . I really hope that there is another special lunch event soon. Thank you :-)

Me and my girlfriend popped in for some lunch last weekend. The food was absolutely brilliant, we both ordered from the specials board, shared a desert and even took some cake home!! The staff were very attentive and helpful. Will go back again for sure. Thanks Gluttins

Went in for breakfast and just in front of me was a reserved table - it was very busy so did not mind waiting for my order to be taken however when the people came in on the reserved table they were served in front of me did not bother waiting was very annoyed ! Not good
