MayFu in Dacorum

Ordered for delivery, £60 order. Food was inedible. Sent them a message to complain as food went in the bin? Their response was . “ bring the food back” Sent photos, they said there was nothing wrong with food. Dreadful food and worse customer service.

The fish and chips were utterly disgusting. The fish was bland and mushy, while the chips were like leather. I had jaw ache by the time I had tried to eat a few. The attitude was less than friendly (though not offensive). A family get together spoiled by 5 meals which went straight in the bin. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Superb as always. Iis my favourite Chinese takeaway. And a very reasonable price too. Thank you.

I've been a happy customer for decades, this evening I ordered my usual dish but was told they can't customise the dishes anymore, which they have anyways done for me on the past. Such a shame - but Banana Leaf will do this so they will have my business from now on.

Phoned an order, used the online menu/price list, when I went to pick it up the price was approx 28% more than the online menu/price list, their excuse was that the online menu was years old and they were unable to have it taken down - rip off. The food was ok but nothing special.

Have been using Mayfu takeaway for a number of years, but probably not for around 12 months. Decided to treat ourselves the other night, so went to an online menu and then telephoned the order through. Having placed an order for six items, the first disappointment was that what I had added up to be £29.40 was actually £39.40!! I was informed there had been a price increase just before Christmas, OK, understandable that prices do go up but by that much!! Between 27% - 85%, ridiculous, how can that be justified? The delivery was left on our doorstep, no knock or doorbell, we only found the meal due to another package being delivered. The duck was overcooked, the batter around the prawns was too thick, the vegetable rice was stodgy, the chow mein, chop suey, squid & curry sauce was fine. The meal was too expensive, if it had been good quality it might have been acceptable, but it will be a long time before we try another meal from there.

Ordered take away from them. I must admit their customer service through telephone was atrocious. I’m betting my food will be that tasteless too. Never going back. I spent £18 with them too.

Never had a bad experience here. Food is always great and piping hot. The staff are always friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Curry sauce amazing as ever. Rice and noodles where fine very bland. The crispy chilli beef.. no words!! It was like it has ketchup squirted all over the top! Was awful and it looked so bad you didn’t even want to eat it even if it had of tasted nice the look of it was awful! Let down on Chinese side.

May fu was excellent although we only had takeaway.the delivery service is good and they have so many choices on there menu.the food was tasty and nice and hot.would use again.mmm mmmm

MY GOD worst Chinese meal I’ve ever had!!! Ordered around 5.30pm for 7-7.15 pm delivery, the food didn’t turn up to 7.55pm and it was cold!! Only offered a 1 litre bottle of coke as a ‘sorry’. I rang 3 times to find out where it was to be told “oh driver is minutes away each time..” So the food, yuck!! BBQ spare ribs, not bbq sauce but basically thick salty chicken gravy! Lemon chicken was dry with the sauce in a tub on the side and it was ridiculously sweet with a bitter after taste, special fried rice over cooked and dry, chicken chow mein was pretty much a salt explosion full of onions, the omelette was a pure mess, I wasn’t expecting it to be in the form of something resembling scrambled egg with fillings all over. The chicken balls were possibly the only thing that tasted decent. Small portions, no exciting or distinguishing flavours, late delivery.... will never order again! Waste of money!

Just had the worst meal of my entire life! The chips were beyond belief!! Mostly black rotten potatoes cooked to dark brown to try and disguise this! Chinese weren’t so bad if you like half a ton of salt for dinner! Never again!!! Overpriced crap!

We ordered both chip shop & Chinese food recently & it was so bad we couldn't eat it the chips were under cooked and some were still raw the egg rice was dry and had no flavour the smell of old oil from food was noticeable. This was our second visit in about 2 years and last time was awful too I thought it might have improved. We will never be back it was just a waste of money.

We get chips and Chinese from here regularly and have never had a problem. Food is always hot and tasty.

The chips were poor and soggy. The fish was nice. Prices are ok and the service is quick. The Chinese side of things is not so good. A lot of food is quite sloppy and didn't taste great.

MayFu is our local fish and chip shop and Chinese take away. We have always been more than happy with quality and service

Loyal customer for over 5 year. Always orders the exact same food totalling £23. 1 X large and 1 X small chips pictured below. Forgot prawn crackers which are main bit for fussy little toddler, rang back, arrived 1 hr later. Freezing cold. Bye forever, Number 28. 19s not coming back either and they eat more that us. :*(

Have used them for years for Chinese take away, delivered or picked up. Always deliver within 45 mins and in our family view the best in the area.

Ordered delivery. Didn't arrive. Called to see if there was a problem. Got told driver had knocked but got no answer. We've been here all evening and no-one knocked. The guy on the phone really couldn't care less and actually thought it was hilarious that we hadn't received out order! Dreadful service. Won't ever use Mayfu again and would recommend to steer clear.

Solía pedir desde Mayo Fu al menos una vez a la semana, hasta que tuve una mala experiencia... Pedí un plato sin piña porque soy alérgica y cuando de verdad llegó, y mira había piña en... Yo no era demasiado molesto porque mis amigos se podía comer, pero llamé Mayo Fu para hacerles saber... Porque si era un ingrediente más pequeñas, por ejemplo, semillas de sésamo o algo así, podría causar un problema serio. Me explicó con calma que esto podría haber causado me ir a choque anafilácticos y mataron a mí no me hubiese visto, pero fue inmediatamente gritó y me dijeron que estaba equivocado. Que nunca había pedido sin piña y que estaba mintiendo... Se gritaron a por el teléfono nunca es genial cuando estás tratando de explicar a alguien que podría haber matado. Pero de todos modos... Yo juré nunca a este lugar, pero dieron hace unos meses y decidí probar de nuevo porque la comida era tan buena... Y a la fecha no me han decepcionado. Estoy bastante seguro de que he cambiado y todo el personal parece estar bien de nuevo... Realmente espero que este es el caso!!!

I have used this Chinese for the last 2 decades as food was always the best. Fish, chips and Chinese but in the last year or so the Chinese food has drastically gone downhill. Crispy beef is covered in a horrid synthetic gloopy sauce, spare ribs are often overcooked, beef with mixed vegetables always have my favourite vegetables but once was replaced with soggy old vegetables as they must have run out of the normal veg, prawns with cashew nuts had no cashews !!!!(I was offered a re delivery of the cashew dish but declined as rest of meal would be stone cold by arrival). When I have phoned up to complain I have been met with hostility and rudeness !!! First time they said to keep the dish and gave me a credit for next order, next complaint they said they were coming to collect the dish as I had complained before and felt as if they thought I was complaining to get a free dish..... I have complained a few times over the last year......but never in the previous 19 years or so......doesn't that say something ????? On a positive note the special fried rice and chicken balls are delicious !!

Had a delivery last night as i am fairly new to the area so still waiting to find a decent take away. I ordered the chinese curry... well how you could call it curry is beyond me, it was watery bland and full of what looked and tasted like out of date vegetables. I also am a huge fan of thai food so ordered the green thai curry, again very watery with an oily substance on the top (it looked like it had separated) and it smelt of fish and again with discolored out of date vegetables. the only nice thing i had was the rice but then my 12 year old sister can cook rice no real achievement there. Will not be making the mistake of ordering from here again

Our favourite Chinese takeaway. Tasty food and served nice and hot. We prefer to collect ourselves rather than wait for delivery. Good value for money.

Excelente servicio y excelente comida degustación. Mejor que cualquiera de los que he probado. Funciona bien para los vegetarianos, pueden cambiar cualquier plato de verduras y/o bean curd.

MayFu has always been my local fish and chip shop, ever since I was a child I remember walking along to get dinner on a Friday evening and sitting in the window! Good quality, great value and really friendly staff.

After yet another bad experience of May Fu, be going elsewhere. According to them when rung up re 'missing item' was told had only ordered 2 not 3 ***** yet was charged for 3, plus the food was terrible i.e chips so fatty and chewy, oily greasy fish and batter, yick!

Don't know if it was a bad day for them but the quality of the food was atrocious. The whole order seemed over cooked and dried up. Would not use again.

Always been a good take away for me. I've often ordered from them over 15 years now and have never had a bad meal. Excellent service and friendly staff. I will always enjoy visiting Mayfu.

Very good fish & chips, another takeaway i have been using for many years,People in gadebridge are very lucky to have and Chinese,Indian and Kebab Shop in the same parade.

Fish & Chips that still taste like the old Days.Service is always quick and is close to Sahara Indian so can pick up Kids meal same time as Mines.lol

The Chinese food here isn't the best but there chippy side is much better, there fish & chips is fantastic the portion sizes they serve are huge and we'll worth the money, the staff are all friendly.

Food is average so I often order from another establishment however on this occasion I gave it another go. Now I remember why I don't come back for several months at a time. The food is passable but nothing special. Big advantage is that they offer a delivery service. Crispy Lamb is very fatty but makes a nice change from Crispy Duck. I'll probably order from May Fu again but not for another few months.

I am regular customer of MAYFU in Hemel Hempstead and if I feel like eating chinese I look no further... Very nice and polite staff, food is always fresh and tasty, not super greasy as some other chinese take aways. In fact, this is the BEST CHINESE I'VE EVER HAD!!!I tried lots of chinese in Hemel Hempstead, and across UK, some of them were really bad. MAYFU are the best ever!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Staff will recommend you what to choose if you can't. Prices are not cheapest, but it worth every penny =)

Like many others we have had takeaways from here for a very long time. The food is really good and the prices reasonable. Prefer to collect rather than delivery as it has not always been the hottest food. We have never had a problem with the staff, they have always seemed ok.

Worst experience with an establishment I have ever had in my life! I frequently travel to Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and have used this take away a number of times, however while the food (when right) is very good the staff on the phone are down right rude, unhelpful and in general not very nice! There have been quite a few occasions that I have ordered a fairly large (30-40 pound) order and when it has arrived it has been wrong and when I ring too let them know and ask if the can rectify their mistakes they are verbally abusive too me and mostly refuse too even acknowledge their mistakes! While on one of the occasions I was offered the prices of the two meals that were wrong discounted off my next bill (which I thought was fair) when I rang the next time and explained this too the woman on the phone she began shouting at me and saying I was not allowed this and it was not true! Unfortunately I have family and friends in the hemel area who have experienced the same thing and they like me think the food is great but will NEVER!! Order from this take away again as they have extremely poor staff and make a lot of mistakes with the food! Which is a real shame as when the food is right it is good!

I've used this take away for over a decade and have never been dissatisfied, however about 4 months ago they put their prices up, I can understand a few pence on items but when the plain omelette went from £1.80 to £3.70 amongst other items, so on average I was paying £10 more per order every time for the same food. Shame really as it was the best in Hemel by far, just got greedy.
