Mayflower in Central Bedfordshire

Abysmal.... everything had no taste. The beef curry looked suspect the chicken balls looked like they had a slice of hovis thick cut bread wrapped around it and deep fried. Tasteless chow mein and anaemic chilli beef. Think I'll stick with China inn

Tiny piece of fish for £6 looked like 1 piece of fish cut in half- and over battered! chips like cardboard! Wont be back for fish n chips. Chinese is good

Really friendly, great customer service and tasty food.

The food is absolutely amazing here. However, this is the 3rd time I have known them to close for a long period of time with no message on their telephone lines. We drove to see if maybe their phone lines were just not working but turns out they are closed for a month and the only way of knowing is going there to see a note on their door. Google opening hours showed them as open. It’s the bare minimum to communicate a change in opening hours to your customers and this is the 3rd time we’ve been let down by this. I don’t want to give 1 star because as I say, the food is consistently great here and I would recommend to anyone but please stop closing without any communication!

Ordered a takeaway from Mayflower for the first time today. The owner and his wife were very kind and helped me pick dishes which would satisfy everyone's tastes waiting back home. ( I was staring at the menu for a wee while.) The food ( kung po chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice, mini spring rolls and beef, black bean and pepper ) was delicious. We will definitely be returning.

Good selection of options. Fish & Chips fresh and tasty. Chinese food is fine, ordered a varied selection on a Friday night and peak time, had a little wait. A couple of the dishes probably were ready before others and so weren’t as warm/hot as they could have been. An average meal but Ok, Crispy Duck was a small portion and perhaps could have been crispier.

Mayflower is a good quality Chinese takeaway, come chippy, that sits on a ground floor shop front on the edge of Flitwick. Mayflower offers the usual variety of Chinese dishes as well as standard chip shop options. I found the rice to be of generally mediocre quality with the egg fried rice being slightly greasy, but otherwise tasty and the chicken fried rice using brown meat when I had it. Mayflower offers some great mains though. Though unusual in some cases, take the shredded beef for example, I honestly struggled to take issue with the large majority of dishes. That said there were some. The chicken balls for example, I found overly greasy, on my try, and lacking chicken, with the sauce being odd in flavour. The chippy side of things included your standard cardboard chip shop chips and standard sausages, fish and pukka pies. That said the prices are pretty standard and well worth the money and I would happily take out from here any time. Food: 7/10 Service: 8/10 Accessibility: 7/10 Value for Money: 7/10

I have eaten food from here for years - from when it opened back in the eighties. But I hadn’t had any for ages of late. I was in the area so decided to pick up my usual order It was way way off my expectations. Sauce was very weak and lacking in flavour I wasn’t eating it local - otherwise I would have taken it back to ask for a replacement. I am very disappointed in tonight’s effort of a takeaway

Possibly the worst Chinese I’ve ever eaten. curry had next to no sauce and beef looked anaemic , crispy shredded chilli beef tasted like chalk also looked white, pancake roll was burnt, salt and pepper ribs where just bbq and everything was very oily . Very disappointed

Certainly the best and friendliest Chinese takeaway in the area!! The Salt and Pepper Chicken hasnt been matched anywhere in the UK for me so far, and the roast pork fried rice is also very tasty 👍🏻

The Mayflower is a fantastic Chinese takeaway and chip shop. The main reason I have given 5 stars is because of the staff. All of the staff are always so warm and friendly, every single visit is with a smile. The food is consistently of a good quality, I do like to try different dishes and to date, I have enjoyed all of them. I actually drive past 2 other Chinese takeaways to get here! The only minor negative point is that the decor is a bit dated. However, it is always very clean inside.

I'm a huge fan of Chinese food and this is by far the best in the area. I moved here 2 years ago and over time have tried them all in the surrounding area, the Mayflower beats them all hands down, it's just a proper Chinese takeaway with all the usual dishes which are delicious. Drinks and beers available too which is a bonus. The phone is always engaged so that's a good sign to show how busy they are. And kudos to them for staying open during these crazy times, thank you for such delicious food and the team are A* friendly

Had a takeaway from here last night and was very unimpressed. Shredded beef was the worst I've ever had and other dishes were tasteless. Would not recommend

Sadly had to downgrade my review after my latest experience...the soup was awful, the Singapore noodles had little flavour let alone any kick and the salt and chili ribs , were just the barbeque ribs without any sauce and didn't taste either of salt or chilli. Still the best homemade pancake roll and the friendliest of staff.

Very good Chinese. We have just moved into the area and this place is a great one. I have had fish and chips menu as well and it is also amazing. Very suprised to have such a great fish and chips and Chinese together. I assume this is family fun. Went again today. What a lovely genuine kind family. Spoke to everyone while they made the food. Very rare. Always going to travel to the Mayflower when I'm hungry :)

I don't normally go there but was visiting my son and ordered a takeaway when we got there I realised this was a Chinese that I used too go with a chap we looked after called Ray he was a very good old friend of the owner and always rated the place and owner. I would have liked to see the owner Dave but he was not there maybe next time.

Been going to Mayflower since I was a kid, I've never had bad food or bad service. Foods always amazing, prices are great and staff are very kind. BEST Chinese in Flitwick and surrounding area.

Excellent Chinese but on busy nights need to get timings more accurate was told 40 minutes but to over 90 with 50 just sitting there instead of leaving home a bit later

First time in mayflower tonight, I ordered from the Chinese menu (they also do fish and chips and strangely alcohol,,,beer wine and spirits lol) Food was nice, no complaints and reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lots of regulars dropping for food orders. Will definitely return for again maybe next I’ll try the fish and chip menu.

This place is great. It serves great food both Chinese and traditional fish and chips, the staff are really friendly and the service is as quick as possible, despite being so popular within the area causing it to be really busy at peak times.

Food was tasty but the satay sauce was like water. No proper sauce in this dish at all. Makes me wonder what the other dishes are like. Staff were lovely who took our order.
