Simply the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, very nice people too. They advised me very well on the menu which aloud me to order a great meal… Thank you !!

Lovely take out, all very fast and tasted good. We got the chicken balls, prawn ginger and spring onion, and Kung Po chicken. Was delighted with it all. No faults will order again when want a Chinese take away

The amazing thing about this place is the enormous menu. The portions are large. The food is authentic Szechuan Chinese so they have pots and I had the spice pot which included real seaweed. Frogs legs and other exotic things were in the menu. I was really pleasantly surprised as Chinese food can be so anodyne and this definitely wasn’t that!

Pretty poor service on delivery. Previously had great food in the restaurant. Ordered a delivery that took two hours to arrive and was cold. Called and complained and was told we would gain a some refund. Still waiting for the refund and the restaurant have blocked / band us… I genuinely would not recommend to anyone, which given our previous experience of eating in the restaurant is a shame

Fantastic service and very nice food. Lot's of very unusual and traditional Chinese dishes that you don't find in other establishments. We were really well looked after throughout the meal and were given advice on food to try based on our favourite ingredients.

We had a fabulous evening at The Mayflower celebrating 3 family birthdays. We had a meeting before the event to choose the menu from their buffet menu, at a very reasonable price for 3 courses. Amazing selection, ensuring there was something for everyone. 22 of us on the night across 3 tables. They couldn't have done more to accommodate us and the night flowed seamlessly. Food was amazing, service brilliant and they even gave us birthday cards for the 3 birthday girls. Would 100% recommend.

I got a collection take away. I have lived in this town for over 30 years and I have never tried mayflower. When I collected the food the staff were very welcoming with the food being ready on time. When I plated it up at home first thing I noticed was how nice the rice looked, can’t describe it but looked clean and just nice, same with the chips they were fresh and not stale. The rest of the food was the same. Looking forward to sitting in next time. Think this will be my go to Chinese takeaway.

I went to have dinner and it was a nice experience there. The atmosphere was so good, it was really calm quiet and so enjoyable. Customer service was so great as the food was. She asked for my interest and taste, suggesting what menu i might like. The food really tastes good.

Tastiest Authentic Chinese I have had in a long time. Being from the Caribbean, used to spicy / chilli- hot foods. Mayflower didn’t disappoint. Staff were super friendly & will definitely return for the amazing cuisines. 👍🏼

When we went there wasn't a lot of customers at the time as it was still early but the members of the restaurant were friendly and easy going. The food were amazing, things I never tried before, definitely want to come back and try other dishes.

It’s a lovely restaurant owned by a Chinese family. They serve authentic Sichuan and Hunan food like hotpot, stir fry any meats with chill. if you like spicy, do not miss the chance to come in. They also serve lots of non-spicy food from Guangdong Province and other parts of China. Besides that, their localised menu is also good, recommend Mix Hors d’oeuveres, bbq rips, and crispy duck.

Nice Chinese food reasonably priced

Absolutely delicious authentic Chinese food. I’ve ordered an egg drop soup with seaweed which was aromatic and full of nutrients, as well as the tripe slices sautéed with coriander, from the new, more authentic menu. That dish was amazing. The tripe was tender, it was cooked with coriander stems which have more flavor and aroma than the leaves and it was very nicely presented. I’m happy I’m spending few days more in Northampton, because for sure I will be back. The service was very polite and the restaurant is conveniently located in the town center, just opposite to the Ibis hotel.

Very friendly staff and great food. Try their wonderful Sichuan hotpot. If you are unfamiliar with Sichuan style cooking this will definitely impress.

We were there during Easter 2023. There is a wide choice of dishes, with reasonable price. The quality of food is quite good, to our standard being a Chinese. It is slightly on the pricey side but reasonable. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you want an authentic Chinese (Hunan) meal then this May be a great find. Not much to look at from the outside. But the choice of dishes, flavour and freshness is excellent. If you like spice this is the place to head to. Situated opposite Vue cinema in Northampton. Note trip advisor opening hours a bit out of date. Fillet fish, beef and also clay pot pork dishes were finished with gusto and morning glory vegetables were fresh. Pricing and portion sizes good. If I'm ever back in Northampton will pay another visit. Note there are 2 menus an anglicised one and Chinese one ( has pictures and English text to assist).

Fantastic meal with seven friends and were looked after royally. We were given two menu’s, as our waiter Nang said, “a westernised” menu and a traditional Chinese menu. We gave him a budget and asked for a mixture erring on the traditional , WOW threw a whole new light on Chinese food. The food was obviously fresh, beautifully cooked and presented. A couple of cold starter dishes none of us had seen the like of before but were delicious and a number of main courses likewise we’d never heard of ….Fantastic! Beware some of the dishes are fiery and not for the faint hearted but delicious, I’m sure Nang will advise you if heat is not your thing. Anyway a great restaurant with great food we were delighted we chose Mayflower and will be going again.

The food was not nice...greasy and without flavour.

It's a stupid restaurant. The three of us ordered three bowls of rice, but the boss only served us one bowl. We felt something was wrong, so we asked twice, but the boss lied and said it was just for three people. If it weren't for the fact that our classmates were also eating in this restaurant that day, we wouldn't have known it. They also ordered 3 bowls of rice and only three bowls were served. We ordered 3 bowls and only one was served. And the most disgusting thing is that a bowl of rice was served and we were charged for 3 bowls. The menu said 2.8 pounds, but we found out that we were charged 9 pounds. Three bowls of rice were 8.4 pounds. You just charged 9 pounds. Good guy, wipe out the zero. The more you apply, the more you apply? Then they only gave us a bowl of rice. The rice is so chewy, sister? Fortunately, we asked our classmates, otherwise we would not have known that we had been cheated. The quality of the fish used for grilling fish was also very poor and the quantity was not large. We cannot pay by credit card. We paid with WeChat and received an exchange rate of 8.6. How could you be so embarrassed to evade tax and still have such a high exchange rate? He said it’s better to use cash. It’s so funny. The Chinese are really trying to trick the Chinese.

It was fair. Only drawback was when it came to paying, we were informed that it was cash only which is strange as visa sign on the window. I prefer takeaway as originally ordered online before my visit & payed with card.

Cool place to have my first Chinese food 🍲

New Sunrise is closed on Monday but we really fancied a Chinese so we came here - so glad we did! Very friendly, good natured and helpful service, all menus explained. We really enjoyed the food but the £22 menu is a bit mad with the amount of food and we had to take loads home with us - what a shame. Authentic Chinese menu is separate and we're going to try that next time. Highly recommended.

Authentic Chinese food. The duck was a little smelly, which put me off. The quantity is large. The place was relatively cold, I don't think they switched on their heating.

Absolutely love this place, our waiter, a lovely young gentleman is by far the best and most polite young man I've ever been served by in any restaurant I've been to. The food is wonderful, especially if you try food from their authentic Chinese menu, Absolutely faultless, won't go anywhere else for a meal out since going here

This was a quick takeaway while staying across the road. Service was prompt and satisfactory, value was OK, food quality fell a lille below what we have been used to.

This was my first visit to Northampton, and I am very happy to have found this lovely little restaurant which is obviously family-run. The food is outstanding - honestly the best Chinese I have ever tasted. Quality and value-for money are excellent, as are the service and presentation. My server was delightful - we even had a chat about philosophy and Carl Jung, whom I was reading at the table! Thank you so much!

Amazing food, me and my partner both ate for less than 30 quid, they were happy to adapt a dish to make sure it included no gluten or peanut for us, very much appreciated and we are going to recommend this place to anyone who wants a place to eat some lovely oriental food, definitely a 5* experience would eat there again

Recently visited May Flower with my husband and 3 young children. A modest and family orientated restaurant which we liked as felt more at ease. We ordered a few items off the normal menu and a few off the authentic menu. It was absolutely delicious! Honestly the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to. The meat just fell apart and the flavours were unreal. Everything was cooked perfectly and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish I lived closer to go again. Very impressed!

This is easily the best Chinese restaurant in town lovely food and great service. We booked a birthday party for 22 people and couldn't have been looked after better. Great food, great people, great restaurant.

My partner and I had dinner in this restaurant. It was clean and quiet, the server was so polite and kind. The meals have good portions and it’s very tasty as well! One of the best legitimate chinese food that I’ve eaten here in the UK. It so happens that the owner’s kid was celebrating his bday so they gave us 2 slices of their bday cake. They were so lovely the whole time. Pricing is good and reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Chinese Food Restaurant in Northampton, where the place is very clean & has a typical Chinese oriental feel. The food menu is very diverse & tastes very delicious. The service is very good & friendly. Sorry, we forgot to take photos of the food we ordered, because we couldn't wait to eat it right away.

Such wonderful service. I miss heard the opening time and went when they were closing though I apologised and said we could leave they still let us come in and eat. The food, customer service was wonderful and I would definitely make the journey to Northampton for this restaurant again

God Awful, wrong order came to the table, food was cold , and everyone i’ve ate with have been sick a couple days after the meal

It used to be better!! Have always been coming or ordering takeaway when coming to Northampton however was very disappointed with last order. The calamari was not light and airy as used to but very oily and not much flavour at all! Noodles also very plain, very disappointing!

I enjoyed my visit from the time I entered the restaurant. The greeting was so good and very friendly. The choice of dishes was very large, so something for everyone. I had crab and sweet corn soup, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and king prawn and cashews with say Sachinane sauce. The dishes were colourful and very generous. The King Prawns were enormous! Had I know the dishes were so generous I ought to have ordered less, but ate everything 😀

Authentic Chinese! If you are someone trying to find authentic Chinese this is the place for you. Schezwan dishes that numb your tongue. My favourite dish has to be the green beans with minced pork and chilli. Thank you for a real taste of China.

Ordered the beef chowmien for takeaway. It was one of the best fried noodle I have ever had! Noodle was the perfect size. Beef was super juicy, tender and well marinated, onion and taugeh is sweet as well. Would definitely go back again to try other dishes in their menu. friendly and warm customer service too.

Me and my friend went later in the evening for a sit down meal, I ordered a chicken chow main which I couldn’t fault however my friend ordered fried oysters, he had two of them which were okay not overly nice, he then bit into the third one and it was undercooked and he gagged from the taste. The main problem was we told this to the owner of the abolishment and she was frankly rude and not giving proper customer service at all. We then protested that we didn’t want to pay for something that was so revolting and after arguing with her she gave us 10% off. I will not be returning to this dive whole and I would advise to not go there.

I have to say it's a pleasant surprise to find a relatively authentic Chinese food in Northampton. The roast duck and Taufu is considered to be central Londons standard. The portions were good sized as well. Will definitely come again.

Food was absolutely delicious, we went on a weekday so it was really nice and quiet. Lots of options and we were not dissapointed. Loved it.

I had a takeawy from this retaurant on 16/12/2021, it was ready in 12 mins! The food was a good portion, had bags of flavour, i cant complain, all-all, i will order again, i recommed this restaurant

Ordered takeaway and was immensely disappointed with the quality of the food. Chicken was bone dry (couldn’t even be stabbed into by a fork - we tried!) and ribs were 100% fat, 0% genuine meat. Chips were obviously frozen and “seasoned” with huge chunks of dried out chilli.

Almost 2 hours from ordering food to delivery!! How can it possibly take that long? Never again will I be using this restaurant 😒

We were trying to find a place to eat and we decided to give a chance to the store, which was empty. The staff was so kind and approachable. Took our orders patiently and the food came fast. The food was really great and we were very satisfied. I would recommend!

I ordered on the website but I didn't realize they were closed so my food never arrived. First thing the next morning I received a call from the restaurant who were very apologetic. They issued a refund and offered to deliver the order that evening for free! I asked for delivery at 8pm but at 7.45 I had only just finished work. I called the restaurant but the driver had already left. I got home at 8.30 and the driver was sitting outside waiting for me! They went above and beyond and the food was delicious. Thank you ☺️

Usually good but not great tonight. Ordered chow Mein, noodles tasted overcooked and were like rice noodle, chicken felt slimy (slipped out of fingers when picked up) and was a strange pale white/grey colour. Chips were like some leftover kfc fries.

My friends and I are very upset at the service. After ordering, we had to wait an hour and a half for our food, and any queries about the waiting time were not answered. The portion sizes were also small and they kept forgetting about individual dishes until we asked about it specifically. The table that came in after we got our food got theirs in 10 minutes after we waited an hour and a half. This restaurant experience was a joke and I will not be returning.

Having booked a table for a large party, the restaurant was not prepared. We waited for an hour before even getting tea, 1.5 hours later the staff came back saying they forgot... the evening was definitely ruined.

We came here as 2 tables of 10 with a reservation in advance. But we took around half an hour to get our orders taken despite the restaurant not being very busy. And then, a table which ordered later than ours got their food served first!! We waited around 1.5 hours for our food. And even then, they still managed to forget some of our orders. We understand that it is hard to cook for a big group but still we already made reservations in advance and even then it shouldn't take this long!!!!!!! This is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!

Nice food, friendly staff, service a little slow primarily due to the number of takeaway orders being shipped out. Eclectic music and slightly dated decor. As a parent Christmas music and nursery ryhmes have a place, but I'm not sure it's in a restaurant in February! We did enjoy the food and would definitely order take out from here, but unlikely to dine in.

Amazing food, great atmosphere and lovely staff. One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to. The dishes were awesome....compliments to the chef for making it possible for me to have the dishes I chose with my allergies and so edible.

I have recently moved to Northampton and was a bit worried about trying a new chinese but Mayflower was a great find! Ordered very late on Chinese New Year and the staff were extremely polite and helpful although I felt so bad for ordering late. The food was a great standard really tasty and they were so lovely they gave us free salt and pepper beans! While I was waiting for the food they also provided me with a free drink, such great service! All of the food tasted fresh and warm. The ribs just melted off bone, the best ribs I have ever had at a chinese. Deffo a great place to try for chinese takeaway, I would recommend and will be back again!
