Most of the time the food is great but tonight it lacked in flavour and the prawns seemed abit mushy this evening, was actually debating on eating them.

Good local place to get a Chinese food. Big choice of dishes and always fast service. Cash only.

Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong fried rice. Burnt rice chicken of poor quality,the batter on the chicken was a soggy mush. Their was no pineapple. What a horrible waste of money

Awful ... sugar in the curry?? .. crispy beef arrived as some sort of build wet chicken. ... just vile. AVOID.

Honestly it feels impossible to get good Chinese food in this town. Tried this tonight and it was soo bad. Satay sauce was like water. Beef in black bean, watery and tasteless. Sweet and sour chicken hongkong style, again watery and poor quality chicken best part of the meal was the free prawn crackers and that’s saying something. Such a shame complete waste of money.

Gave us the wrong order, walked home and then found out when opened bag. Had to take back and they accused us of picking the wrong order when they actually handed it to us. No apology

Have used this place for years and love it. The food is still great but just recently they seem to be quite forgetful. Last time got home and had no pancake rolls. Today got home to find no prawn crackers in the bag

I would give it 4 stars for food and hospitality, and additional 1 star for its very generous portion. Its like they are frozen in time on the price AND the portion from years ago in comparison to other takeaways.

Used to be our local Chinese and was always lovely and friendly staff. Today was first visit in a year and the staff were very rude, snappy and arrogant with me and also other customers. The food was good, but will not return to give my money and custom to people who have no manners or respect.

Open kitchen, food hot and cooked to order. Nothing too much trouble. If you want it spicy or mild. Would like delivery in a 1 mile radius.

Excellent takeaway and seeing all the food cooking inspires confidence. Highly recommended.

Simply put, this is the best Chinese takeaway in Northampton and I've tried all of them. Fresh, not greasey and very tasty. Top marks.

Great food, never use anywhere else. You never wait too long once you have ordered staff lovely can see your food being cooked when ordering on phone its always waiting for you when you get there

Dirty lady served me in her dirty yellow washing up gloves shes wearing to mop the floor, i could smell the bleach on her. She didn't change or remove her gloves to dish my food so i refused the food and took my money back, very poor service and rude attitude no care for hygiene regulations

Food was cheap and service was quick and polite. Whilst most of the food was OK and portions were generous for the price our main dishes lacked any flavour or seasoning.

I use this Chinese takeaway regularly and have never had a problem with any of the dishes I've ordered. The open kitchen is spotlessly clean despite the almost manic hive of activity that it constantly seems to be.

Best Chinese by far. We won't entertain anywhere else.

A great takeaway, with plenty of tasty food, reasonable prices too, but my only complaint is for them to be open throughout the day at lunch too maybe? Just in the evening seems a bit restricted.

Without a doubt the best Chinese we've had. It use to be our local but when we moved away we tried many others to no avail. The golden rice bowl is not only just great food. Their service is second to none too. Many Thanks Golden Rice bowl, nothing ever seems like too much trouble xx

We always use the Golden Rice bowl for our Chinese food, even though it’s not the closest to us. Cash only and no delivery (not sure where the 1* reviews ordered from but they have never delivered as far as I’m aware), however most of the time you can call up, get in the car and it’s ready by the time you get there (10-15 minutes). I’d recommend salt and pepper king prawns or the house special fried rice (plenty of king prawns chicken pork and veggies no need for anything else). Hubby always has chicken curry, and they are always happy to accommodate any quirks. My eldest likes the sweet & sour Hong Kong style but swaps the sweet & sour for the bbq sauce!

Suspiciously had my king prawn and egg fried rice ready within a minute. Woke up at 3am with diarrhea. It's now 1.4pm the next day and I feel absolutely awful. I've had to take the day off work. Keep away these guys are reheating food knowing full well the danger of this!!

Food is OK but the lady taking orders needs to go to charm school or learn some customer service skills

Had a meal last week Sweet and Sour Chicken balls. Under cooked and batter still soggy. Vile. When I complain the woman in the shop just said O. !!

Took me a while to find a good Chinese restaurant or take away . Then I found the little gem . Service , food 10 out 10 every time . Tip call 10 mins before you arrive & your order will be ready for you .

Have been using for years never disappointed the food is lovely and the service very good I recommend the Singapore noodles and crispy beef

I have ordered from here twice, first time I think they forgot/lost our order, waited over an 1 1/2 hr so had to ring to remind them which was extremely frustrating. Second time I asked for Singapore rice with no meat, sure enough it turns up with meat, so my family have all eaten and I’m still waiting for something that I can eat... If you get the right food and they remember your order, the food is quite nice, but don’t think we’ll be ordering again from there.

This has become my favourite Chinese Takeaway. The staff are always pleasant and friendly and the meals have been consistent quality. Everyone has their favourite dishes and these do a typical wide range, so something for everyone. Parking is pretty easy as there are approx 10 - 15 parking spaces outside the little precinct - which also contains a traditional chippy, off licence and small Tesco.

We always order our Chinese food from here. The food is always hot and tastes lovely! Especially love the BBQ ribs! We always phone through our order and can pick up when is convenient for us. Highly recommend!

Always after returning from a few weeks away on holiday my husband 'needs' his portion of ribs from the Golden Rice Bowl - we have never had better ribs in BBQ sauce anywhere else.

First choice for bbq ribs in sauce without a doubt. Staff friendly and very efficient but at busy times it certainly pays to ring your order through it is not overcooked but just ready sooner

We visited from New Zealand after many years away from Northamptonshire. I remember the Golden Rice Bowl as being the best I've ever had and I'm still not disappointed. It was worth flying all round the world for!

Great Chinese, food is always too high standard, the crispy chilli beef is great and so is the crispy salt and pepper chicken. Always ready in a good time.

Best ribs in BBQ sauce we've found in Northampton (so far) and we've been living here 20 years. My husband will only eat 'take away' ribs from the Golden Rice Bowl.

We always come to this place as the food is served so quickly and is always hot and tasty. (a little bit of a wait at peak times Fri / Sat nights). The staff are sometimes rude and a bit glum. Don't worry if halfway through giving your order, she disappears or takes a phone call and starts taking someone elses order without so much as an excuse me. it's nothing personal! We've got used to this, perhaps its their culture. The food more than makes up for it though.

Always amazing been going to the golden rice bowl for 10 + years, and all my family go here also, never had a bad meal always hot and quick.

We have recently moved to this area and quickly became regulars to this place. It is take away only. The food is always very fresh and delicious. We haven't had to wait longer than 20 minutes. It can be hard to get a smile from the lady behind the counter but when you do it's worth it :)

The quality of food is OK. Nothing special but there is limited choice around the area. Was quoted 45 mins delivery time which has turned out to be almost 2 hours. Food arrive Luke warm. Won't be ordering from there again.

Never had a bad meal from this Chinese Restaurant, and have been many times over the last couple of years. Phone your order in, jump in the car and pick it up 20mins later. Easy, and would recommend - the kids love it!

Highly recommend this place, very busy, food cooked where you can see if. Food tastes good. Only problem is they don't deliver

Really slow service - delivery time extended after having placed the order, and then didn't get delivered for about 20 mins after that time (1hr 40 in total!)Food arrived and was luke warm and really bland - prawn balls had obviously been in a hot cabinet for some time and I found a hair in the food. Awful.

Consistently provide high quality takeaway food. I first went this summer, and have returned numerous times. Currently one of my favourite places to buy convenient and tasty food. Recommended.

It's was OK. The rice and noodles were good but the satay dishes lack flavour. It's nice to walk in and see all the chefs cooking the food but the area is a bit of a dive.
