Max Cafe in Lambeth

While staying in stockwell, Max cafe was the place to go for good food at reasonable prices. All the locals go and been going for decades Max is well loved and cares and remembers his customers.

I love this Cafe 😀, always great food and service. I've been coming here for over 20 years and they always aim to please. It's the best Cafe in Battersea .

Popped in for a cheeky breakfast after going for a run. Nice and clean greasy spoon, with quick service, tasty grub, sensible prices, a good atmosphere and friendly staff. Open early on a Sunday too! Can’t fault it.

Friendly staff, family friendly space food was reasonably priced and they have an Italian coffee maschine.

A real treasure that stands the test of time in a forever changing highstreet. Don't expect bottomless brunch or smashed avocado on sourdough! This no nonsense London caf provides great food at even greater prices. The owner Max is a real character who seems to know every customer by name. Make sure to try one of the many breakfasts on offer. More and more of these places are disappearing from the highstreet, get down and support the local community.

No complaints! Cheap food and it comes quickly. Generous portions - 3 egg omelette and basically a whole tin of beans and then 2 slices of toast, some smoked salmon, a WHOLE avocado and two fried eggs. Winning! Coffee was very weak but you come here for the food

I'm glad I chose the only full breakfast I'm going to have on my short trip at this place! The owner is incredibly friendly and the food (& tea) was spectacular. I'd be a regular if I lived in the area!

As a tourist, If you are around this neighborhood, I think Max Cafe is a great place to have breakfast before exploring the city. Great service and fair price!

Went there afew weeks ago with a friend who lives in America. They wanted an English breakfast with black pudding as they don't have that in America. The breakfast was hugh and you could change stuff that you didn't want. Service was quick and friendly.

El viejo era tan grosero y esperamos casi una hora para nuestra comida y cuando mi amigo preguntó cuánto tiempo. El viejo dijo que el año tiene 2 esperas y otras personas que vinieron después de nosotros obtuvieron su comida primero, así que nos fuimos. Usa 2 ser agradable allí

David and Thomas were amazing. They were helpfull and happy and knowledgeable. I asked for a cocktail that would surprise me and they nailed it.

I've had over 100 full English breakfasts, and this was top 3, easily. Great service, family-run joint, great atmosphere, delicious food, great value, excellent coffee.

Um café da manhã bem britânico. Dependendo do que pedir, não precisa nem almoçar. Comi o feijão com tomate, ovos, linguiça e torradas. Tudo estava uma delícia e o dono do local é muito amigável. Gostamos tanto que tomamos café por lá todos os dias.

Best breakfast ever! Itis Not expensive! But it's very delicious!!! And so friendly! IT is a MUST in London!

They never said " no sorry set meals only" Or charge double because i deviated a little from their menu !! They gave me what i wanted instead. They put love into the presentation. The portions were very adequate. And when i asked for "toast" it was two slices like it always used to be in all cafes instead of the new greedy one slice cafes. Oh and the price was very reasonable. Take note cafe owners somebody out there is doing it better than you! I will drive miles to go here rather than come to your dictatorial one slice cafe.

First came here nearly 40 years ago. We used to collect bacon sandwiches on Saturday mornings when the staff canteen was closed. Haven't been back for over 10 years now and Max still remembered me. Food, as always is great value and of a good quality. Not many places remain unchanged for this long of period of time.

Excellent cafe that is used by many locals plus builders and tourists. Food was tasty and hot . Chips beans cheese onion omelette was pretty big and all at a good price . Everywhere was nice and clean . We would visit again.

First time I've been there really friendly staff, proper butcher sausages, big portions. Just a really good old school greasy spoon. Ticked all the boxes. Alas these gems getting rare now. Also wasn't advertised got an extra egg and ran rasher off bacon. Top notch.

We’ve had breakfast here twice when we were on vacation. Someone walking her dog recommended this place and she couldn’t have given us a better recommendation. The food was amazing and the staff was very kind and helpful. If you want a hearty meal to start your day, you should go to Max. 10/10

Brilliant proper cafe with great food and lovely staff. It’s a must and also they have Al Jazeera for some decent news. Proper poached eggs, all kinds of delicious fresh Ss designed all with lovely salad etc. it’s all great

Since most hotels don't offer breakfast in the area were we slept, went here three days to get breakfast. Best choice ever, nice people and very good very English breakfast. 9 sets with vegetarian options aswell or fries for breakfast. With i actually saw someone order

Service is good, the food is ok but the scrambled eggs are dry.

Went in to have a well needed breakfast. Had poached eggs on toast and hot chocolate and it was cooked to perfection. The eggs were cooked and the yolk was still dippy

Nice and clean family cafe a bit cold inside food was ok...

Used to use it when over in college, sampled different meals regularly well pleased, went back 6-7 years after finished college course Max still remembered me. Was impressed (and No I didn't owe him money).

Max cafe has been a favourite of mine for years, well worth a visit every time. Cracking portions and always cooked to perfection.

Max is a legend and his cafe is fantastic! Great value, tasty food and lovely staff. Cannot beat the jacket potato with baked beans and cheese for just over a fiver! Takeaway or eat in, you can’t go wrong!

The shop assistants are very friendly. I won’t be hungry all day after eating breakfast.

Amazing Cafe, lovely people. The value for money is AMAZING! For £5 I got an English breakfast plate with loads of mushroom, bacon, sausages, eggs and hash browns PLUS 2 giant delicious buttered toast AND a huge mug of hot coffee. The portions are amazing and all for £5 is a steal! Will definitely become a regular customer.
