Placed an order on there new app, wouldn't let us pay by card, changed it to pay in person on arrival. Order accepted then received an email over an hour later saying order rejected. No explanation or anything. Very disappointed kids

I went to maids in Newtownards and was absolutely shocked at the price of a large tube of ice cream ther next day I went up to the spar and received a large tube of ice cream from Mauds in the spar for only £3.75 otherwise it would have costed me £5.10 which is exceptional for this ice cream. The other ex cream photo is one I got at the spar and is the exact same size as mauds. This is a disgrace how much they overcharge

Love this place. So many choices of ice-cream flavours and toppings. Staff are mostly young but always polite even when there’s a huge queue. Worth a visit....you’ll not regret it

We visited for lunch. I had a lovely baked potato with tuna and onion, served with side salad, followed by a piece of home baked boiled cake - gorgeous and very reasonable. No hesitation in recommending to anyone visiting Ards.

Just happened to be in the area and needed a cup of coffee, (as I often do!) Well, I didn't fancy an ice-cream since it wasn't a particularly nice day. I went for a panino and wasn't disappointed. This cafe is always the same: spotlessly clean, friendly staff and great food. Highly recommended.

A quick trip into mauds to bring home ice cream on a hot day. A large very well filled carton with enough to satisfy a family of four with large helpings. Honey comb is a personal favourite, creamy, textured icecream with honey comb in abundunce, satisfingly crunchy. So good.

I find Mauds ice cream to be pretty dull; having been to Italy and tasted what real ice cream should taste like, this is about as far from proper Italian gelato as you can get. The flavoured ice creams all taste the same, that is, they are so stingy with the flavourings that they all tend to taste the same. The chocolate ice cream is the worst. Chocolate ice cream should be dark with a bitter edge, this has barely enough cocoa in it to give it a brown colour. Give me a tub of Ben and Jerry's any day.

I tried a flat white for the first time here, I was in a hurry to get to the hairdressers but I can't start my day with a coffee! I decided to try a flat white for the first time and these guys did not disappoint! Coffee was delicious! I always prefer to support the local business and when the coffee is as good as this I will continue to do so!

Mauds is an institution, like Woolies and Stewart Millar's. The ice cream is great and the coffee and buns are also excellent. You can always rely on Mauds to put a smile on your face.

When in the area, we enjoy a visit to Mauds. However, we found we were being rushed to order before having time to read the overhead menus. Also folk queuing behind us seemed to rush to reserve tables- this irritates me!! My chicken pie was dry and the crust inedible as far too overdone and chewy! I was also served the incorrect salads. However- my husband thoroughly enjoyed his club sandwich. The kids had crepes with Ice cream which were enjoyed! The following morning we decided to return for coffee - I had an oat traybake which was very tasty. Again, kids enjoyed crepes. However, it's not easy on the pocket.

Called in tonight to get some ice cream , behind the counter we had 3 girls serving if that's the word as 2 of them were more interested in talking about the music and dancing the talker of the three to be fair wasn't, I was getting 2 large 1 medium and a couple of the tray bakes as they are scooping the ice cream what they have dropped of the other flavours over the top of the flavours means that although you want one flavour in each tub you end up with a bit of a mixture plus the amount on the outside of the tub melting and dripping sure makes it a bit of a mess but as the tray bakes are being put in the tubs you know the tin foil ones with lids managed to fit in between her discussion about Justin Beiber how the packaging of the tray bakes is so tedious but not to worry as the Justin Beiber song is good ,never ever thought I would review an ice cream shop but if you own it you deserve to know that the service and attitude of the two smaller girls will hardly inspire return custom if my experience is anythingto go by . Plus if I order a large tub I would expect it to be full of ice cream but in the rush to get rid , I have one tub with ice cream in the bottom then a gap with the next scoop spread on top .. Pound odd short of £15.00 spent but they won't be getting it again ,. Ps sorry in advance for using size as a way of describing the staff but I don't have names

I went for a snack and was given a flat almost poultry amount costing 3.50,, It would hardly satisfy any hunger during a lunch break. In addition it was most uncomfortable for me trying to make sense out of a wall menu over two sitting patrons who kept looking at me as though I had no right to select my choice. On top of this, I was kept waiting for almost ten/ fifteen minutes for something that should have taken no more than five minutes at which point I could barely wait my escape from one of those rare edgy climates... .. .The welcome was less than hearty and the only merit in my stay was a barely audible acknowledgement of my patience.. .

Always visit mauds when I visit Ni from England. I'm originally northern Irish, greatly miss the creamy ice cream. Went there with my friend and family, my two girls absolutely loved the ice cream so Much so we have had it now a few times this week! But we're on holiday so why not!! The gentleman that served us was very attentive and while we were there a customer chatted to us and we actually knew the same people. Northern Ireland people are just the best!! My friend had a panini and she said it was delicious. Shop is very clean and has a nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend for the best ice cream around.

This is the place we go to on an odd Sunday whilst we are out driving around and putting the day in! We love the atmosphere however during the summer it can be quite busy they try hard to keep it clean and tidy! I'm not going to rave about Poo Bear Ice-cream though - I'm giving my vote to rum and raisin!! Its is always a friendly place - the staff are lovely and it's a great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. It's not all ice ream though - sandwiches, scones etc. one Sunday, ice ream the next!

Such amazing ice-cream and desserts in a cute little cafe that also sells little gifts and candle holders. Pooh bear is the best ice-cream flavour (honeycomb) and a crowd favourite. Good value with 3 scoops in the small size cup for £2. Little day trip from Belfast here and a good afternoon-tea treat. Also free wifi is an added bonus.

I came with my mum and granny for ice cream sundaes, which were delicious. The interior is beautiful, very quirky and interesting, which makes for a really lovely experience. My only issue was I thought the sundaes were a teeny bit over-priced for what you got, but then again a sundae is a treat so I didn't mind paying. The portion was perfect.

Castle Espie is a bit of an anticlimax. Place is very rundown and had not many birds to see. One elderly staff member was quite rude not so friendly at all. More interested in taking our money than helping negotiate the map. Onsite cafe is a rip-off! No wholemeal sandwiches. Tuna sandwich was £4.70! Same sandwich up road was £2.65! Staff moral very low! Avoid both places.
