Matrix Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Northampton

Visited as a group of 6 on a Saturday night. 5 out of 6 meals weren’t great, 3 were so bad they got taken off the meal, including very underdone steaks, a burger which was raw in the middle, and a salad swimming in water/liquid (not the dressing as that was on the side) Service was a little slow and for the quality & size of the cocktails they were quite expensive. We won’t be returning. Funnily enough when we were in another bar later in the evening we overheard someone else saying their food at Matrix was bad and they also got meals taken off the bill

We booked Matrix for a friends birthday. We had to prebook our order because there was 11 of us. The restaurant upstairs was quite busy but there only seemed to be 2 staff waiting tables. When the starters came out some of the party had finished theirs and had their plates taken away before the rest had even had their starters. There was some wait for the mains & drink service was quite slow. We were there for 2 & a half hours & only had 2 or 3 drinks. Most people had an issue with their main. The chicken in the chicken salad was salty and chewy, the chicken pasta was bland & the veal was rubbery. I understand it was a Saturday evening but the music was far too loud for the eating area upstairs. By 8:30 we were having to shout at each other.

Great place. Lovely staff. Fantastic cocktails and mocktails too! A must try and great atmosphere. Music is awesome too :-)

Nice vibrant restaurant with great food and friendly staff. Makes an excellent date night! Food portions were more than generous, very well presented and great tasting. Staff were friendly, just the right level of chatty and very attentive.

Fabulous surprise, we ended up having cocktails, best in Northampton!!!! Best porn star martini and espresso martini, Anisa does a mean coctail! Lovely staff, really welcoming and we have had a wonderful time chatting about anything and everything. Atmospere is great and looking forward to a DJ night. Menu looks great and will revise the review once we have eaten.

There are many things to say about this restaurant, the place is classy but at the same time you can have some good fun on weekends with friends and family while enjoying some good music and drinks. Is very welcoming and the staff is lovely, also the owners are involved which is nice to see. They enjoy and have fun along with customers. Now the food :)) man the steak is amazing props to the chef the food melts in your mouth is that good, definitely would recommend the veal t-bone. Keep it up guys great start to the business!

I am here at their opening night and have just had the most amazing meal. My husband had lamb and I had the best steak I have tasted in years. Service and atmosphere is spot on. Well done.

Great to experience this new establishment, I had a wonderful T-bone Veal with the chefs sweet peppercorn sauce was amazingly rich but not overpowering. The chef certainly is able to completely express himself with the food he delivered will be visiting again with my partner.
