Went this morning 19/09/24 for breakfast and was treated to a good British full breakfast and was even asked if I wanted fried bread which I hadn't had in forever it was a real treat. This is a good traditional cafe, the owner was super friendly and the food excellent, give it a go.

Fantastic little jem of a cafe. The owner is so welcoming and the cafe is always busy with a lovely atmosphere. The food choices are brilliant, they do a varied aray of breakfast and you have plenty of choice on the size and extras. The owner is very attentive to everyone and the breakfast is extremely good and is of excellent quality . They are open every day and they even do sunday lunch and my favourite jacket potato and chilli 🌶. The price is so reasonable for the quantity and quality.

Shame how some people don't understand the concept of banter. We four called today, cafe was smallish yes, but clean with an extensive menu (remember this is a cafe). Staff were great, friendly but efficient and the prices were good, £47 for four cooked meals plus tea/coffee. Can't go wrong.

Well........Service 5 star Food 5 star ........all fresh food......no frozen. Some customers a bit "iffy" But you cant have everything. Cheerful staff with a pleasant manner.

Visited today after reading the reviews. We were not dissapointed. Sometimes we have problems with seating in cafes because we are a family of 5. Staff were lovely and arranged the tables so we could stay. The food was excellent. My sons cheeseburger, wow it was huge. She even gave our dog a sausage. Highly recomend this place not just for the food but for the outstanding customer service. It was our first time, but it wont be our last. 10/10, A 🌟

Whilst staying the weekend in Matlock, decided to go out for brunch and discovered this cafe. Had the Full English and wasn't disappointed. Friendly and attentive staff. Nice coffee.

Saw some good reviews on here so visited today with the family. So glad we did! The gentleman looking after us couldn’t do enough for us. Lots of choice on the main menu plus a kids menu. We had 3 breakfasts & 2 kids meals which included a drink & ice cream…..they were more than happy. Very good value too! We’ll definitely be back next time we visit Matlock. Thank you

Called in today for the first time, but not the last, I had a full English, the wife had poached eggs on toast. And said it was one of the best she had ever had. Will definitely be calling again.

What a wonderful little find, the staff make the place too. The Far Rascals and scones were delicious and really lovely coffee, nice and smooth no bitterness. Exactly what was needed. A little gem of a cafe!

Second visit on a damp Matlock afternoon. A small, friendly clean and warm cafe. I had liver and onions and brother had shepherds pie - both were freshly cooked and excellent. Recomended.

This cafe was just perfect - very friendly and great value. We had the full English breakfast which was the best breakfast I’ve ever had. It was well presented and so very tasty. We love to support the independent guys as you get a a more personal experience and better food (in my opinion)

Good for a quick coffee and home made cake, or the excellent soup at lunch time. Everything is carefully made on site and served by friendly staff who keep the cafe spotless. Excellent quality at a very reasonable price.

We were looking for somewhere for a sit down really and passed a few other cafes to arrive here. The welcome as we entered couldn't have been more friendly. We only ordered a couple of hot drinks but that was no problem. It'll be worth looking this out next time we're in Matlock and wanting something to eat.

My wife and I had a stroll around town and luckily we found this cafe. It is small and very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The lunch was freshly made and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend anyone to visit.

Visited mid morning and had the most amazing Cream Tea, scones were delicious. Went back following morning for fried breakfast, this did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly and large portions. Lovely owners and dog friendly. Will definitely use again when in the area.

Me and my partner frequently visit this café for our breakfast on the mornings we deliver our cakes to the cafes in Matlock. Both of us are vegans and we find it very difficult to get a decent vegan breakfast anywhere. By decent, we mean a good quality size breakfast that will fill us up with vegan sausages and a good choice of options and for a reasonable price. This café delivers in all areas! We always go for the big breakfast with sausages, oatcake, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms and toast. Good size portions of everything! We were both totally made up to have found a place that we can eat a wholesome breakfast at such good value. We have tried many local places for breakfasts, even the more grand of places such as the local stately homes and larger establishments yet have always been left very disappointed due to them being very over priced, offering very small portions and often times not even being cooked properly. This café exceeds them all in every respect. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming people, ensuring everything is satisfactory. We always feel well catered for here. Although they don’t advertise as offering a ‘vegan’ breakfast, they do have everything for offering one, including soya milk for our tea and coffee. As vegans, in our opinion- it is definitely worth advertising the vegan option too as well as vegetarian as we are always on the lookout for places that will accommodate us. We get excited seeing signs for vegan food and trust us when we say that we remain very loyal customers to places that cater for us and we spread the word amongst all our vegan friends. Matlock itself offers very little to us vegans but this café makes a fantastic start with its breakfast. Maybe one or 2 other meal options and a cake or 2 on the menu for vegans and gluten free could be a consideration also. We would happily promote you as THE place to go amongst our vegan community and friends.

Visited here as I was passing through Matlock. Ordered the big breakfast which was £6.50 and a pot of tea which was for 2 to share for £2.80. Bargain. Breakfast was cooked to perfection. Eggs not overly runny, bacon crispy but not burnt. Couldn’t fault...

Lovely little cafe located in matlock town centre. The man who greets you into the cafe is very friendly and welcoming all covid measures adhered to. This was my first ever visit after living in the area for years and wasnt sure as like visting anywhere for the first time what to expect and the quality of food and drink and pretty much the overall service. All day breakfast didn't disappoint quick waiting times from order. Will be back again for sure. Keep up the great customer service

Myself and my partner went for a breakfast and I can honestly say it was one of the best we have had. Fresh, hot and great quality. It was the 1st day open since lockdown and after watching the staff I must say there customers are very safe coming here. Fully committed to hygiene regime including the toilet after each use. Nothing to much trouble and very friendly. Would definitely come again.

What a pleasant little find this cafe was, 2 families with 3 hungry kids in tow. The owners were friendly and made us feel very welcome. They made room for us to enable us to accommodate the 7 of us. Nothing was too much trouble at all. The menu is varied - with plenty of vegetarian options and the portions were generous. They even threw in a free ice cream for the 10 year old who had ordered off the adult menu, which was very much appreciated! The owners obviously take a lot of pride in the work they do and this is shown by the cleanliness of the cafe and the quality of food.

We were staying in the area and came in to Matlock for something to eat as a family. We were lucky enough to stumble across this great cafe run by the lovely owner.Although it was our first time there, it was clear that the owner knew most of his customers by name (the café was full for most of the time we were there) and the fact that they are regulars is testament to the standard of service provided.Even though we were strangers, our treatment was still top notch. We were a big group and the owner hapilly allowed us to rearrange the tables so we could all sit together. Our orders were taken with good humour and the food served swiftly.There is a good range of meals, catering well for children and vegetarians, ranging from breakfast to lunch to something more substantial. The choice of food and drink on offer is wider than most small cafes, but cheaper than the big chains. Given the added bonus of such friendly and attentive service, we are sure to be back next time we visit the area!

We decided to pop into this lovely cafe in the centre of Matlock on a wet and miserable rainy Monday Even though I am a vegetarian I found there was plenty to choose from on the menu, the food was plentyful and cooked to order and I throughly enjoyed my lunch.The cafe is spotlessly clean, the tables wiped down between customers and the owners were very pleasant If arriving by public transport there is a bus stop opposite and the railway station a 5 minutes away. There is parking 2 minutes away behind M&S which is opposite and chargeable at £1.50 an hour or £2.50 for two hours also Sainsbury is a 10 minute stroll away and allows 3 hours free of charge.We will most certainly be visiting more often and recommend 100%.

Been again today as a second visit. Why? Because it's very good. We both had breakfast and it was excellent. We need a couple of menu tweens for dietary requirements and no problems at all. Plenty of quality on the plate and not a lot of money. Good quality coffee to. Will be back. Service good. Ambiance good. Bring it on .

We walked past this cafe a few days on the trot and decided to pop in. Small but perfect place to come and get a fantastic breakfast. There is only 7 tables but plenty if space to eat, great menu and all freshly cooked to order. The staff are lovely and very welcoming and checked we was happy with out food.My husband had the big Scottish breakfast at a fantastic price of £6. He said the Lorne sausage was lovely and managed to eat it all, they do do a smaller one for £4.50. There is a great menu choice and lots of specials it caters for tastes. I would highly recommend Matlock cafe if you in the area, its clean, great good and lovely staff

We were looking for somewhere to have a breakfast on a Sunday in Matlock and we came across this nice cafe, I had a small breakfast and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast. Both of us thought it was nice - hot and tasted good, coffees were nice. Place was clean, the toilet had a nice small sink, again clean.We would go again.

As a family of 5 we were so happy to have found this cafe . So friendly and nothing was to much trouble especially as the kids wanted to swap things in there breakfasts . Would definitely recommend this cafe .

A very clean and welcoming little coffee/tea café where we had a wonderful breakfast, extremely reasonably priced, all freshly made and nothing too much trouble

Big breakfast excellent and good value with carparking a Ross the road £1.50 n hour. Two bacon two sausages two eggs beans tomatoes mushrooms toast and coffee around £7. Got to be worth a visit. Varied menu of main meals. Good refuge on freezing day.

The place for a start was spotless.....lovely and clean, nothing wrong as far as cleanliness is concerned.

Had breakfast here on a weekend away. Was a bit dubious when we saw the outside but what a find. Regardless as to looks the food was well cooked and excellent portions. The friendly service was brilliant and would definitely recommend this for a very reasonably priced place to eat. Shame we couldn't have stayed long enough to sample lunch there.

Staying at the nearby Premier Inn we used this cafe for breakfast on two mornings. Traditional cafe, basic with oil cloths on the tables. Friendly welcome and very good food. Breakfast for two with tea was about a tenner.

We were all starving so ordered some macaroni cheese and chips. Simple food but very well cooked! Lovely crisp chips and a good portion of macaroni cheese which had a good strong cheese flavour!

Struggled to find somewhere to get some lunch on a Wednesday in Matlock. Spotted this small cafe and thought we'd give it a try. Lovely lasagna and steak and kidney pie. Both meals were well presented, hot and plenty of it. Service was with a smile even when we originally ordered jacket potatoes off the menu and then noticed the other items listed above the counter and changed our minds (luckily only a couple of seconds later). Will be back next time we visit Matlock.

Was working in Matlock and fancied a cooked breakfast. This place didn’t look much from the outside but gave it a try. Wasn’t disappointed. Had a cracking fry up for four and a half quid which did me for the day. Good size portions, the bacon and sausages were spot on.The place is spotless and the staff very friendly and helpful. Will be back next time I’m in the area.

Myself and a friend decided we fancied a mid morning brunch. The cafe was very clean with lovely friendly staff serving us. We had a smashing breakfast with a hot chocolate. The food was nicely cooked and good value for money. Highly recommend this lovely little cafe and will be returning again soon.

I only had a coffee on this my first visit, so can't comment on the food though the cakes looked good. I was slightly put off by the fried food smell on entering, but the staff were very welcoming, empty tables were already cleared of pots and wiped. My espresso was served very quickly and tasted just fine.

Again, was tired of hotel food for breakfast on this driving trip. Checked out the reviews and decided to give this place a try. My son and I walked from the Hotel bout .7 mile and my wife drove... we arrived first. It's very non descript on the outside, really looks like a old small bus station. Small on the inside, but the food and family atmosphere was very inviting and enjoyable. My wife and son that the biggest hot chocolate I believe I've ever seen and they both had refills!!! Can't say enough good about this little cafe.

I visited the Matlock Cafe after bailing out of a shockingly bad breakfast at Kaths Riber view cafe in need of a proper fry up and somewhere to work while my wife went swimming at the Arc. What a polarised difference from Kaths? The welcome...

Had parked just across the road and spotted this small café. What a find. The service was excellent, the food looked, smelt and tasted fantastic, and the prices were so reasonable you would mad not to pay a visit. We enjoyed our visit so much...

We were staying at the Premier Inn in Matlock but opted to eat here every day for breakfast. Very friendly, cute little cafe and they can't do enough for you, Prices were great with a lovely cooked breakfast costing between £4.50-£6.50 with good value tea...

Myself and my son went here for a drink and he also had a breakfast. The cafe has a lovely relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. The breakfast my son had was incredible value, bacon (2 rashers) , sausage, egg, chips, beans-a very generous plateful (so much so he couldn't finish it all!) The chips were a great idea , perfect for my son as he doesn't like hash browns so it was great to see an alternative style breakfast as an option. Beautifully clean too inside .A great place that i would happily recommend.

Myself and my son called in for a drink, he was soon asking if he could have a breakfast as he remembered how nice it was last time he had a cooked breakfast here. The people who work in here are really friendly and it has a nice relaxing atmosphere. My son again polished off his breakfast and declared it 'lovely' with a big smile on his face. Its a great cafe. had the large breakfast, barely warm beans and tomato's, them horrible frozen hash browns and only just cooked bacon leaving the rind almost raw all for £6.00 and only one slice of toast plus £2.00 for a coffee = £8.00, bit on the expensive side for what i would call a road side cafe. my usual placed i use at the weekend was closed but i get massive well cooked hot breakfast plus bread, two toast and coffee for £6.50.you need to raise your game on the breakfasts "matlock cafe" this used to be a great place to eat.

Myself and my daughter called in today for a bit of lunch whilst Christmas shopping. The cafe is lovely and clean, very friendly staff & a nice atmosphere. My daughter had a breakfast, it was great value for money and cooked from scratch-fab! I had jacket potato & my choice of topping and salad was nice and fresh with it. Very good portion size for mine too . I love this cafe , so glad to have discovered it !

Myself and my husband popped into this little cafe en route to Lumsdale Falls on a grey miserable day and were served the tastiest fry up we've have had in a long time by a lovely young lady. Mostly (in Essex) these days cafe food is supplied tasteless sausages and bacon by a local fast food caterer as they are cheap and taste cheap too, however in this cafe the food was superb and really flavoursome. The young chef was very attentive and a lovely young man, he even gave us extra toast at no extra cost and catered to our individual tastes with such a lovely attitude. I am sure that if they carry on with this level of service and lovely food then this small cafe will thrive. P.S. thank you also for looking after my bag that I left behind...oops.

Also the gentleman brought me over a newspaper to read whilst waiting.The price was very reasonable and I would certainly go cack there again.Although busy the food arrived very quick

Myself & my son called in here today, despite being local we hadn't tried it before now -i wish i had tried it sooner! This cafe is so friendly, the people working in there are really down to earth and the food & drinks arrived promptly. I like the fact you can see things being prepared & the cafe is lovely and clean . I enjoyed my crab cakes with salad and bread, just the right size for lunch time & the salad clearly very fresh -(no limp soggy salad here!)my son had a children's meal which was brilliant value& had option of salad with the main which i think is a nice idea. We have lived in Matlock for a long time and have actually never been to the Matlock Cafe. From the outside it doesn't look much, but the inside is lovely and quaint.Enough about the look... The food is absolutely fantastic! They even have proper derbyshire oat cakes!Lovely hot food, lovely staff, cheap cheap, nothing is too much trouble. I highly recommend a visit to this little gem!

Visted with our kids while on holiday, very family friendly, staff very pleasant, food lovely and well priced.

At 11:05 today I placed a telephone order for 7 breakfast type cobs for myself and work colleagues. When I called at the café at 11:20 the cobs were packaged, labelled, bagged and ready for me with a list of individual prices. We have just finished eating them and they were delicious! They will keep us going for the rest of our shift :). Thank you very much.

Came here for dinner and had the big breakfast. The bacon was not cooked, beans and tomatoes were cold and toast wasn't very toasted. Really quite poor and wouldn't bother going again.

We visited the Matlock Café during our recent holiday. It is a good, old-style British café, but none the worse for that. We had double egg and chips (one with beans) and two mugs of tea for under a £10; great value when on a budget. But what impressed me most was the attention to detail when it came to the standard of cleanliness; all the tables were clear and clean, no debris on the floor (not the usual crumbs and screwed up napkins) - and the toilet was spotless with soap and hot water available. The owner/staff obviously take a real pride in what they offer their customers including friendly and welcoming service.

Came here for the first time since it changed owners. Used to be amazing now it's just disappointing. Food overcooked. Toast must have been in the toaster for about 10 seconds as it was just dry white bread. Staff aren't as friendly. Noticed member of staff stroke strange dog and then prep food without washing hands.
