Master Wok in Oldham

I recently ordered shredded chicken from this takeaway, expecting a delicious, traditional dish. Unfortunately, what arrived was quite disappointing. The “shredded” chicken was anything but—each piece was massive and far from what I had anticipated. This lack of attention to detail was frustrating, as I specifically ordered shredded chicken expecting the fine texture typical of this dish. The food arrived in under 30 minutes, which, while quick, made it evident that quality wasn’t the priority. Rather than feeling like a meal made with care, it seemed hastily thrown together to meet a delivery window. Additionally, the chips were not the traditional chippy-style you’d expect from a Chinese takeaway. They lacked that familiar taste and texture, adding to the overall letdown of the meal. Considering the poor quality and lack of authenticity, I don’t plan on ordering from here again.

I ordered Shredded beef, spring rolls and prawn on toast, very yummy, we enjoyed it very much. Friendly service as usual!

I don’t understand the bad reviews… I’ve ordered from this Chinese a few times now and I’ve always been satisfied. The food is excellent and the portion sizes are also great. The staff are very polite and friendly as well. They even threw in some free fortune cookies with my order when I was last in.

Amazing food and great service! I recently tried Master Wok and was blown away by the quality of their dishes. The curry bean curd was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of spice and flavor, making it one of the best I've had. Their prawn toast is also fantastic—crispy and full of flavor! I highly recommend both dishes to anyone looking for a delicious Chinese takeaway. The service was quick and friendly too. I’ll definitely be ordering again soon!

Ordered a bbq chicken and it came in an awful sauce I couldn’t even eat. This is the third time I would order a chicken wing and it will come in a tasteless sauce I didn’t even request for. I rather they just send me a fried chicken instead. Also their egg fried rice barely had egg in it. This takeaway is losing its plot sad.

Do not go here!!!! The food is utterly horrible, does not stand up to the standards you'd expect. Ordered prawn chow mein and one chicken chow mein, the prawn chow mein was goey, and the chicken in the chow mein was soft and tasted of cardboard. My son who demolished his chips he didn't even touch them and he never turns them down. BBQ spare ribs, the sauce tasted off and so did the meat Nothing was willing to be done about this. And RUDE SERVICE from the staff over the phone

Our first time using Master Wok, The hot and sour soup was absolutely delicious 😋 The best I have tasted in years. The rest of our meal was delicious but I can't get over how spot on their soup was. Will definitely be recommending this place 🙂

The salt and pepper box had more salt in than the 7 seas I feel like a drip to flush my body out after that food curry sauce tasted like diesel and the chicken wings was that hard I could of played golf with them there was enough chips to feed unicef do not go here

They're just wonderful. They're called Master Wok. They have mastered the wok. What more do you need to know? Stop faffing and order the food. :)

I didn’t like their service because the lady who works their she was really disrespectful and aggressive with me. I would never recommend this takeaway their food is not good at all it’s really low quality.

We've never ordered from Master Wok and only did so because our normal takeaway was closed on Monday. Thought we'd give it a go. I really wish we didn't! We only ordered 4 dishes, and when it arrived, they missed the egg fried rice. So, I called them and advised what was missing, and they sent it over 15 minutes later. When we opened it, it was just plain fried rice, unbelievable! Chow mean was nice, but the chips were stale, and the salt n pepper chicken portion was a joke. Will never order from then again.

This takeaway is absolutely rancid. I ordered a beef curry, a chicken curry turned up instead and the chicken wasn't even cooked properly, would have been seriously ill if it had been eaten. I didn't even ask for the meal to be replaced as I wouldn't trust a takeaway that cannot even cook chicken to a safe standard. Added to that the total bill came to £47 for a beef (raw chicken) curry, chips, special fried rice. My partner had chicken fried rice, chips and something else that I personally couldn't even identify. An absolute disgrace and robbery, avoid at all costs. It's a lesson learned as will be telling everyone to avoid this place but at almost £50 it was a very costly one. I for one am shocked they are still functioning as a business and their food hygiene is appalling, a visit from the food standards agency will be forthcoming. Disgusting.

Best chinese in North Manchester Foods always hot and they don't put carrots and bell peppers when they make salt n pepper items. Foods always tasty

First time at this takeaway and the food was delicious. Portions are large. Must try the salt and pepper dishes and prawn crackers. Highly recommend and will defo go again.

Id give minus 100 stars if i could! 2 and a half weeks on from eating from this takeaway and my 8 year old son is still really poorly. His dad and him ate chicken from here (the only thing they both ate the same and the rest of us didn't that week) between 12-24 hours after eating both became violently ill. Its been absolutely awful. Today after sending samples to hospital last week we were told they have cryptosoridiosis which is a water born parasite which has been caused by contaminated food. Public health are now involved and ive been contacted by the uk health security agency because of my sons tests results. I would never write a review like this but I'm absolutely 💯 sure this came from master wok. I would warn absolutely against eating from here. Thankfully both my son and husband have strong immune systems, even so this is coming up to 3 weeks off school for my little lad and he still cant leave the house as he could cause an outbreak not to mention he has bearly left the bathroom 🥺. I'd dread to think what could happen to someone who was elderly or in poor health! Like I said i would never wish to damage anyone's reputation but people really need to be aware.

Not chipy chips but them frozen type oven chips but they are still nice the salt and pepper chicken and chips are good aswell and quite spicy and full of garlic.

Rubbish. Ordered last night. Everything swimming in sweet watery liquid. The ribs again swimming in thin horrible liquid. The meat on ribs somehow dry and completely inedible. The two mains one beef. One chicken tasted same. Spring rolls. 2. Thin and definitely from super market. Well done. Worst food ever! We ate the rice only. Do not bother.

Had this food on 16/06/2022, the food is low quality because it’s a Chinese shop, however the food tasted good, the salt and pepper chicken was well seasoned and a little bit juicy inside. The salt and pepper chips were really nice only criticism would be a bit more onions with it. The curry and boiled rice was really good again quite a hard dish to mess up.

Amazing takeaway, well worthy of it's MEN rating

Used to love the food from Master Wok Failsworth. Recently the food has really gone down hill. The sweet and sour Hong Kong style we had last night was lacking in pork balls.The honey spare ribs were very dry, inedible to be honest. Have ordered twice now and had similar experience so am afraid my custom must go elsewhere.

Orderd a salt and pepper tasty box TASTY was not how we would of described it it was a pizza box absolutly full of chips should of been salt n pepper was js onions n peppers frown over them. 2 pieces chicken wings with what looked like pure salt tipped on and to chicken balls again not salt and pepper. Amd 3 spring rolls ???? With noodles and curry sauce was vile will not order from here ever again id rather go hungry

Firstly I just want to say what a rude lady and I use the term lady loosely!! Food took 2 hours to come and came cold and burnt. Called the restaurant after an hour and a half of waiting to be told the driver was on his way. Called after a further 20 minutes and was told the driver was 2 minutes away. 10 minutes later the driver arrived. The food was over cooked , the salt and pepper chicken didn’t even look like salt and pepper chicken. The food was cold and looked like it had been fried for too long or refried, either way was vile. Called the restaurant and just wanted to advise them of my experience as have been a customer for a while and this was not of their usual standard and the woman was very irate with me telling me they where only cooking the food at the point I called to chase despite them telling me the driver was on his way. But this still was an hour and a half after the order had been placed which in no way is acceptable for a Thursday night. When the woman got irate I said do you not want to hear feedback from your customers and she told me she didn’t want my custom and to not order again, her words where if your not happy don’t order again before bluntly putting the phone down. No appreciation for regular customers whatsoever, definitely will not be returning my business.

Gone very down hill. How can you order food and it be at your door within 10 minutes?! Chicken pieces are tiny, chips terrible. Won’t be ordering again and don’t even bother trying to speak to them about it because they just argue - rude, bad attitude.

I regularly order from here the food is always spot on and delicious and fresh. The customer service is very good they inform you on any offers and the food is not to pricey. Can definitely see why this takeaway was in the top 3 chinese takeaways according to Manchester evening news.

ordered via just eat app, £7.50 for sweet & sour chicken & chips why would you put the chips in the same container as the supposedly main meal? 12 chips, no sauce & 5 tiny piece of chicken, total disappointment

First time ordering from here, will deffo order again. Stuffed crust special pizza was delish!! Plenty of toppings n lovely crust. Salad was fresh n plenty of variety in it . Coleslaw was a tiny portion so lose a star for that. But all in all VERY GOOD FOOD, I'll be back

Been ordering from here for a long time but lately they have started to slip. Last order was over 30min late (takes about 10min to walk to there) when ordering was told the usual 45min - 1hr, had to call twice and was told it was on its way both times. Food wasn't that great either just tasted like they needed to change the oil and tasted dirty and burnt. Barely touched anything from a salt n pepper family box, which included 3 of most item then was just over filled with awful chips.

Donner and chips were lush , onion rings were nice but the cheesy garlic bread had pinky red on sides and under the cheese , like drops of blood . Also had a steel taste from the cans of Pepsi which dont usually get .

Phoned back to be met with a woman virtually shouting at us for 5 minutes arguing the toss. In the end she said we hadn't been charged for it and they would re send but needed to pay for it which I disputed but eventually agreed to as the rest if the food was going cold but asked for her to provide a receipt. Rest if the order turned up around 25 minutes later with no receipt but a menu. So as I'm a stickler for accuracy I added up my own order and low and behold I had been charged for it. So the meal ended up costing £9 for one meal! I phone back to be argued with AGAIN. food was average not great and I got a gob full of abuse to boot, plus being overcharged for the privlage. Feel like I've been bent over and dry bummed!!!!

Tasty food, the chicken fillet burger was soft/spicy/crunchy, the pizza was also nice. The star of the show goes to the grilled peri peri half chicken. It was fresh, very well cooked, moist and spicy just how it should have been. Probably one of the best Masters takeaways we have had in years (and we have had a fair few). I hope this standard continues - we will be back!
