I'm very happy with the update. It's very spacious and nicely decorated. Most importantly there isn't just one vegan option, there are a few. Whatever you do, please don't change that. Could do with soy milk and De caf tea though. Nice little cafe for something to eat while out shopping. Will keep using as long as your vegan menu doesn't change.

The cafe looks wonderful since its refurbishment. However, they are letting themselves down regarding food and drink. They often do not have decaff tea (awkward, as that's all we drink). The dinners are top heavy on meat, and they have a poor choice of veg (only carrots and peas); which means if you don't like one or the other you're stuck with little choice.

Nice place since the recent refit, good food and nice staff. But the dreadful shame is that they allow dogs in the atrium part, which start barking when other dogs come in. Iis getting like a Kennel on aSunday lunchtime and I saw several people getting annoyed and complaining but to no avail. Time they banned them completely; they're a damned nuisance.

I have been recommending this place because when we went for breakfast some time ago it was so many items @ certain prices. But we went with friends yesterday & OMG what a rip off . 2 were going to have the Peak breakfast £9.20 but after seeing one being put up only 1 was ordered. It stated roasted tom (1/2 of 1) potato Rossi (rock hard & not fresh) field mushroom ( only 1/2 of 1) 1 ordered toast & raspberry jam (strawberry turned up) 1 ordered gluten free toast & 1 ordered scone with cream & raspberry jam. Scone turned up with butter then strawberry jam(not raspberry) no cream. All of these went passed our table & went outside (even tho our table number was well displayed) it then went back into the kitchen (walking passed us again) so when it was delivered it was rock hard & cold. The place was not even busy when we were there did get busier later on. Would we recommend again OMG NO.

Called in for a cuppa and cake. Staff friendly enough and service brisk. However the room is uninspiring, noisy (a barking dog didn't help...) and bland. Tea was OK but cakes appear to be bought in factory bakery stuff. One team member was plating up an apple cake straight out of its box... from Germany! Presumably either chilled or frozen? Our salted caramel cake was rubbish - dense crumb and far too sweet. With a plethora of small craft bakers and confectioners in the area, why not source locally? Needs to try harder.

We had planned to have a cooked meal. We ordered at about 1.15pm, which was a little later than planned. I ordered quiche but there was none left. My husband wanted ham but that had gone too. We then asked for baked potatoes with fillings but there was only one left. so I settled for a panini. So much for a hot meal! It was busy but surely there should have been more of these common foods in stock? On the plus side, the front-of-house staff were pleasant but it'll be a while, if ever, before we return even though I've been there several times in the past.

Shopped in the cold and rain here today and as a family we needed something quick to eat and drink. Unfortunately this restaurant has no vegan options at all. So, if you're vegan ( and a lot of people are these days) do yourself a favour and bring food or go elsewhere after shopping here. There is another restaurant not far but very pricey.

After a gorgeous spot of retail therapy we only wanted a drink to sit outside and watch the world go by at lunch time on the 21st August we had just had a hearty breakfast at the amazing Cavendish Hotel Baslow after a nights stay for our Wedding Anniversary. Compliments to the lovely lady on the drinks and ice cream counter oh so very smiley and professional with her workload asked for a small bottle of beer and a small bottle of Pinot Grigio dry wine perfectly chilled with correct glasses and added also a side of ice as well just perfection. Encountered plates of plentiful delicious looking food delivered happily and promptly to tables inside and outside so good to see no dogs in the Restaurant only guide/assistant ones of course. We shall be back soon. Anne and Alan

We have popped into this cafe a number of times over the years and been happy with everything until recent visits. We only have drinks and a scone. On our last visit a few weeks ago I did not receive my gold card discount and on querying it with a member of staff was told I had but it wasn’t on the receipt when I looked. . Today I specifically asked if my free drink could be a cappuccino and was told it could be. However I was charged for it and had to go to the pay desk to have a begrudged refund. The tea and coffee were lovely but the fruit scone was harder than usual.

My wife and I have used 'Massarella's' for some time now. We enjoy it here. But be warned; service can be very slow. Reason; dithery people unable to make up their minds when they get to the servery. Some people don't seem to realise that they actually have to pay!! Grrrrrrrrrrr. Not the staff's fault. We have always found the staff very helpful and courteous. Best time to visit for lunch is around 12 noon when the food is piping hot and fresh. The roast chicken and 'Med' vegetables are superb. We would have this dish every time if we could. Great coffee in the conservatory as well.

We called in today for coffee and a snack. Two lattes, one ham and cheese panini, and a side of chips. Coffee was lovely, but food was lukewarm. The panini had good flavour, but was not as hot as it should have been. The chips were even colder. It felt like they were pre cooked, and dropped into hot oil to re-heat. I know, I know, I should have complained at the time, BUT the food wasn't inedible, and we were really hungry and short of time. In short, the only thing wrong was temperature, or lack of!

Came here for a visit after going to the pop up craft fair. Oh my god, wish we’d not bothered. The queue length was unbelievable and soon became apparent why - the service was so slow and disorganised. Was absolutely starving so quickly altered my choice to get something off the main counter to avoid the wait for an item to be mad. My husband asked for a toasted sandwich - took 40 minutes and 2 trips to the counter to ask where it was before it came. By this time I’d finished my meal and we’d both finished our drinks but couldn’t face the queue to get another one. The apology was that it was so busy - ? half the table were empty!

The setting is lovely and the ambience very plesent, but that's it. We had to stand in a small queue for over 25 minutes to get served and wanted to order a small breakfast but didn't. Heres why, the bacon was under cooked, the sausages were overcooked as were the other offerings. The reason is they under cook everting and then leave it under bright lights just standing until someone orders it. So you may be lucky but be advised that it is not freashly cooked and just stands there warming. The staff are apathetic and inordinately slow.

We went for Lunch in February, although the sopping village was fairly empty, the cafe/restaurant was reasonably full. The cafe is split into two part, and the menu outside only seems to refer to the Cafe/snack bar part the Restaurant which we used was further in. On the day we went the Credit card machine wasn't working so we had to pay cash, fortunately we had enough, and were assured that this was only a temporary problem.Once we got to the restaurant there was a good selection of lunches, al reasonably prices as well as hot snacks, such as soup Toasted Sandwiches and Baked Potatoes. We had the Quiche, and Fish, both were reasonably priced , hot and the batter on the fish was lovely and crunchy. The place was clean and tidy, and the staff friendly. We would definately go again.

Dropped in here for a cuppa after visiting the excellent Old Station Gallery in the otherwise uninspiring Peak Village retail development. With hindsight I wish we hadn't and had taken our thirst and appetite to Caudwell's Mill 400 yards along the road.Billing itself as a 'restaurant' does Massarella's no favours: it simply leads the customer to expect far more than the place delivers. It's a cafe. In a retail complex. And not a very good one at that.At 3.45pm on a Saturday afternoon, the choice of cakes was poor - I guess they'd sold most of them. My partner opted for a sultana scone to accompany her pot-for-one of Earl Grey but passed on the offer of a portion of jam, which was ambitiously priced at 75 pence extra. I couldn't see anything I fancied so settled for a cup of hot chocolate. The three items came to £5.95, which is mid-range for tea rooms in this tourist area (we're locals so we know).Service was lacklustre and there were several tables with uncleared crockery and food remnants despite the place not being busy.Carefully picking a cleared and wiped table, I tasted my hot chocolate: thin; bitter; gritty; seemingly made with a lot more water than milk. God knows how they managed to screw up something as simple as hot chocolate but they did. My partner's tea came in a small pot - really only one and a half cups - and her scone was on the firm/crumbly spectrum rather than light/fluffy, which suggested it might not have been baked that day.Add in the lack of atmosphere and the rather gloomy room, and frankly we couldn't get out fast enough. Not that there was much to detain us - no newspapers or mags to browse, which smacks of parsimony and a desire to get as many bums on seats through as quickly as possible.Massarella's is the only catering outlet in this retail complex so I'd guess their offering reflects a cynical milking of a captive market. Our advice: if you're visiting Peak Village and looking for a cuppa, just walk or drive around the corner to the characterful, slightly quirky and unfailingly delicious Caudwell's Mill cafe, which has atmosphere, character, lovely views and excellent home baking and cooking.

Each visit sees ever increasing prices and falling standards of food. It seems that this place is being dragged down by the poor selections of outlets in the village. Been coming here for years but now has very little to offer

We live locally and visit often. What ever has gone wrong? On last 2 visits jacket potato was "nuked" to death and today, the tuna sandwich didn't have hardly any tuna in it. Butter was thicker and a doorstep of cucumber....yuk! Off the radar now.....sorry Jake!!

We ordered afternoon tea for two costing £9.99 per person. The menu described finger sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream and a trio (per person) of dainty cakes/desserts. What we actually got (each) was: 3 square quarters of sandwiches, roughly cut with crusts, a scone already spread with jam and cream and one piece of cheesecake. One of which we couldn't identify and was completely tasteless and the other was coffee flavoured and held together with stiff clear plastic on both sides and which collapsed into a pool of mush when removed. Certainly not a trio, certainly not dainty and actually quite horrible. Not what I would call afternoon tea and terrible value for money.

Not too bad a place for a quick bite to eat and a drink. Personally I think it is a bit pricy for the standard, but OK otherwise. The place is always clean and tidy and the staff are particularly friendly.

Visited the Peak Village and called into Massarellas Restaurant for a coffee and a bite to eat. My mum and my daughter had coffee and cake which was on a £3.99 deal and I had coffee and a cheese scone. The only downside was the coffee was very strong, even though we asked for weaker coffees. Other then that, everything else was spot on.

We often call in to this restaurant while shopping at the Peak Village. Sometimes just for a relaxing coffee and sometimes for lunch. Never been disappointed. Lovely staff, always friendly no matter how busy they are you get service with a smile. Great selectiion of sandwiches and hot meals. Wonderful yummy cakes and great tasting coffee. Sometimes have to wait at busy times but that has to be a good sign of it's popularity. The seating is mixed, there's a choice of inside the main restaurant, the conservatory or outside. All are delightful.

Serves it's purpose, only went in for a drink to get out of the rain but staff are friendly and the drink/snacks were reasonably priced.Place is clean and we were allowed to take dogs in as long as we sat near the door. Plenty of seating and shelter outside too!

Very expensive for what it is & seems to have an identity crisis in whether it's a restaurant / cafe / coffee shop.

Went in for the first time and didn't know which till to go to or what was on offer, when ordering we ordered two slices of cake and two soft drinks that came to £10, wasn't told where anything was such as cutlery or napkins, and had to take back the cake as the strawberry was mouldy on top of one, this was changed but with no apology or customer service skills. Wouldn't go back, even though the cake was excellent in the end.

we went in yesterday14th June for lunch, we looked at the panninis, I chose a Puulled pork with cheese, my partner chose chicken and bacon, nicely presented, but on my first bite, found it was smothered in Barbecue sauce, I hate it, and I did not ask for it, I went back and checked the wrapper of the sandwich at the counter, there was no mention of this sauce just the words "Pulled pork and cheese"! My partners sandwich was smothered in Tomato sauce, not asked for, and not written on the wrapper, had we known, we would not have purchased, another waste of money and at £ 18 including two teas was not cheap !

we stopped by for lunch whilst shopping, and we both has delicious jacket potatoes with salad with fresh tea and coffee, which was delicious, unfortunately they spent ten minutes looking up whether or not my dietary requirements would be suitable for a pudding, I'd rather them have said no and left it at that

Couldn't order the food we wanted. It seems that this so called restaurant doesn't make food on the premises but brings it in. The sandwiches are prepacked and when they are gone there are no provisions to make any more. This should be reflected on the menu that they have limited supplies and it's first come first served. This should be called a cafe.

Having had a pretty awful experience at the Whitworth terrace cafe I came here with my parents for lunch. We had toasted sandwiches which were well made, tasty and well presented with a lovely crunchy salad. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would recommend this cafe to anyone.

Lovely place. People pleasant enough. Ordered some food. Should have taken 20 mins tops. Over an hour later still not had food. It was just a steak sandwich, which it said came with onion chutney. Crispy piece of steak with a few fried onions. Cold chips and onion rings that were sitting in oil. A couple that came in about 45 mins after us received there food first, and that was 2 curry dishes. Was told the steak took longer than the curry????

First of all it is an extremely clean pub / hotel and I agree dogs shouldn't be allowed every where. We have witnessed dogs sitting at tables in other pubs ..not in Bakewell. But we called in early doors last evening for a quick drink whilst waiting for the bus. Crikey talk about a frosty. . reception ...not from the young lady greeter but from the bar staff...we were told to sit in the back of the pub if we were only drinking..it was soulless . Not somewhere I would consider eating. Came back to Baslow for a lovely greeting.

Ive reviewed this place before as its our go to. We have been many times. We just got back from one night stay in the annex where we usually stay. We have never had any issues before but last night was a bit disappointing. The bathroom needs cleaning properly. The tiles and the drip bar under the shower door was terrible. The bath panel had been broken and not repaired and the bottom of the bathroom door was broken so we couldn't close it. There was dust on the headboard too. Late last night as we were tucked up in bed, the fire alarms went off so we shuffled outside in pjs and coats. No staff around. We went to Reception and ended up in the bar. No explanation really so that was a bit unnerving. This is our go to and i really want them to get standards back up. I dont want to start trying to find alternative places to stay but if it doesn't improve then we may have to next time.
