Went to meet our daughter here tonight as she’s in uni nearby and we’ll def be going back we all had starter and main the food was spot on everything was cooked perfect and really tasty the staff were spot on really friendly and happy to help and the place is decorated really nicely can’t wait to go back 😁

Usually always order a takeaway but dined in for the first time. Such a great experience with attention to detail and fresh food. Chicken breast just fell apart, fresh chutneys and onions. Thanks for being so accommodating.

Had an amazing evening for a family birthday - food was delicious, service was spot-on, nothing was too much trouble, would highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff for making the evening such a special one.

A fabulous meal. It has changed management but the food is still wonderful and service is faultless. My husband had the managers recommendation and loved it.

A work supper for a leaving colleague. Very good wide and varied menu. Very efficient service. Nothing too difficult. Food tasty but nothing particularly outstanding. Just a good decent curry. They are not licensed, so remember to take your own drink.

Visited mid week with a group of friends. First impression friendly welcoming staff but on arriving the restaurant was cold, although they did offer to put the heating on. Food was good & tasty, everyone enjoyed their food & the service was friendly but a little confusing at times, knowing which dish was which. A few mix ups when bringing out the dishes, but it was soon rectified. One meal did take a while to come out. You can bring your own alcoholic drinks & soft drinks can be bought here. Worth a visit.

Spur of the moment decision to call in for a curry. Staff were welcoming. The mixed grill and chicken tikka saagwala were delicious. Staff Big Mac and Ray were delightful, nothing was too much trouble and so friendly. There's an off-licence across the road open until 10pm, remember to take a bottle as no licence for alcohol. Excellent, will be returning.

Two hours after ordering our takeaway, it was finally delivered. Usually I’d pick up but I thought we would try delivery… never again. An email stated that it had left the restaurant at 19.15, we received the delivery (after two phone calls) at 20.55. Absolutely shocking service. Can’t believed we paid and waited. We should have stuck to our original thoughts and gone for pizza, it would have been quicker and warmer! And cheaper.

The most bland chicken tikka massala I've ever had. The tastiest thing on my order was the poppadoms. Even the peshawari nann was tasteless. Mint sauce was bland too. Won't be ordering from there again.

We usually order a takeaway through just eat. tonight we waited 2 hours for our food, and we were greeted by an extremely rude driver who said he was waiting at the top of the road for 20 minutes with no attempt to find our house. the manager of the restaurant was extremely rude and borderline shouting at us down the phone when we requested money back. Our food was cold and we had to reheat when it arrived. We used to recommend this restaurant to neighbours etc., but won’t be doing this again!

Really sad to make this review as we have eaten in this restaurant a few times and my family members eat here a lot! Tonight we ordered a take away for delivery at 6pm, told will be with us 35-60mins after 90 mins I called the restaurant to see where the order was to be asked numerous times did I call or order through a take away app, then asked at least 10 times for my address they couldn’t find my order even though I told them that they had taken the money from the bank, spoke to a manager no idea either! Finally got through to the owner who said he was sorry but the customer service was shocking! Told that the order would be with us within 20 mins, 25 mins later still no order so called again asked to speak to the owner, he’s no longer available (surprise surprise) again asked for the address and how we ordered 3 times! Finally they called the delivery driver as I asked them to whilst I was still on the phone, to be told it would be with us within 10 mins! Was still at least 15 mins later. The poor delivery driver was as annoyed as me! The food was ok, no where near as nice as normal. I think the customer service well lack of made me not like the food! Very disappointed, not sure whether I will return as a customer in the restaurant or as a takeaway! Customer service needs to be addressed quickly!!!!

A group of us came here last night for our Xmas meal. First class service (thank you to Dil and Ahmed (I only got their names) The food was lovely. Pleasant atmosphere and lovely decor. Very reasonably priced. We took in our own alcohol (not sure if it will be licensed in the future)...so a cheap night for me! Oh, ..and the toilets were spotless (so important I think)!

Since the ownership and the management changed the food, the place and the service are extremely good, we are happy to have a dinner there and currently this is our favourite restaurant in Newport.

This restaurant is now under new ownership and called 'The Basmati'. I've usually got my take-away meals from others in the high street. Under a recommendation from a mate I decided to give it a go. I have had 3 meals for these guys now and all have been outstanding, their signature dish twice and a chicken balti type thingy. You should give these guys a go, plenty of food, excellent value and most importantly, well tasty too. I will be back.

As above title, so any bad reviews should be disregarded for now. My wife and have been in search of a good curry locally, since we moved back to the area 4 years ago, and at last the search is over..... the staff are friendly and helpful but the food is fantastic, not lots of sauce covering dry meat this more like gastro curry but not as pretentious if you love great flavours rather than slop on a plate then this should not be missed, anther great idea the have is you can have two small mains rather than one large one for the same price which, for someone who can't make there mind up is a great idea I had a lamb dish and a chicken dish. Just go you will not be disappointed also with it being BYO booze you save a fortune on the bill.

We had a wonderful excellent takeaway from Massala and Jan the manager was absolutely fantastic he couldn’t do enough to guide and understand what type of curry we like the Tandoori King Prawn masala dish is out of this world huge prawns and so many compared to other restaurants yes it’s one of the most expensive dishes but my Gosh it’s so worth the monies we also had there speciality dish (apologies can’t remember the name) but it was a curry with Chicken on the bone Tikka it was brilliant I will definitely go to the restaurant again as it was truly fab nothing was too much trouble we’ve asked for a staff lamb on bone curry which is not on the menu you need to order it a day in advance but can’t wait its tomo

Just eat sent text saying food was ready half a hour before I booked it for collection . Then when we got there had to wait for food as something went wrong with order and they had to cook it again but they did apologise but not that good service this time.

I understand that COVID can extend delivery times but 2 and a half hours for a very average curry and chips. We were told the driver had just left to deliver it and would be a few minutes. 40 minutes later and it arrives.

Good food but over 30 mins late and then on checking order some items were incorrect. This is the third time they have got the order wrong and when calling them to sort apparently it’s because they’re busy.

Not very good service at all this time, firstly I ordered on just eat like I always do it was 17.10 went through perfectly fine and 10 minutes after received an email to say the order was unsuccessful and I will revive a refund shortly your order has been cancelled, which I rang the restaurant and the man that works there wasn’t even interested and just said it’s because we don’t open until 17.15 I have never had any issues with ordering early until this evening! And secondly we’ve ordered from masala quite a few times now and it’s normally hot however this time it was warm and the poppadoms were stale! Overall disappointing with the service as we’ve spent quite a lot on ordering from this restaurant as well! Not a very happy customer at all!

We have been visiting this restaurant since it opened a number of years ago. The staff are vey friendly and welcoming and the cuisine is exceptional. For example the, lamb in the dishes is always particularly tender, which cannot be said of all Indian restaurants....

The delivery chap couldn’t be more helpful when delivering the food... the food turned up early once and I hadn’t popped out to get the cash - no bother - he went left the food for us and said “I’ll come back later for the money” - how decent is that?!
