Masala Indian Cuisine in West Dorset

I ordered a prawn puree, worst ever it was literally just pastry and no prawn or filling of any sort. Really disappointed. The chicken Tika was nothing like I expected but it was really good whatever it was, chunks of chicken gorgeously cooked so so tender. Amazing flavours everything about that dish was spot on just wish I knew what it was as I'd probably order it again. I reckon they got my order mixed up but who cares when I was happy with what I was eating. Great Indian and I'd def use them again. Very tasty, very good portions and great flavours.

Ordered take out so can't provide more than this but the food was lovely, portions were fantastic, and the flavours were great. Good value too.

Meal was good. I had a sweet masala with fruit it that was nice. The service was fast had our starters before my friend could decide his main. Would go back if in the area again.

Every table busy on a Tuesday? Must be good! 5 nice dips with the poppadums a good start. Great chicken dansak with chilli. (Freshly cooked chicken) no mistakes with bill, I will be back. 10/10 Looks average from outside but high satisfaction.

Appaulled by experience I had with this company. Ordered for delivery at 17.20. It went to them as a collection. I phoned at 18.40 to see the status of my food to find out they were expecting me . It was then delivered after 7pm with a £4 charge, the food that I received was the food they had originally cooked off at 5pm! Meaning it was freezing cold and majority was binned.They have failed to respond to emails regarding this matter. Will not use again

Great food, good service and just a nice comfortable place to eat.

Take away curry was excellent, korma and balti really nice, rice good too. The only thing that let it down was the naan. The cheese naan was not cheesy at all and the tikka naan had no tikka just some dry, unseasoned chicken in. I’d 100% recommend the curry but maybe not the naan! Delivery was super quick.

Food really disappointing. Lamb obviously pre_ cooked and hard, thrown in just before it was served. All the mains really sweet and bland. Service abrupt. Wouldn't waste my money again.

Best curry ever, that was opinion of all 4 of us, taste and quality of food excellent. Only negative was on desserts all of us found the ice cream to be over frozen and grainy. Will definitely return for a restaurant meal and takeaway but maybe not the ice cream.

Online order. There were issues with the order initially, however when we received the food it was disappointing and cold. The food was tasteless. The chicken tikka masala, rice and peshwari naan were bland, and the poppodom chewy. Overall a disappointing take away for the money spent. Unfortunately would not recommend.

My go to Indian restaurant, always delicious

Never even touch the taste of authentic Indian. Just waste of money. Most of items flavors with sweet instead of spice. I can clearly say as I had a breakfast from another Indian shop in Southampton. It was delicious.

Great food and very accommodating staff. Would definitely recommend a visit. I had a chicken tawa, and it was fresh with a lot of flavour. Also, the poppadoms and chutneys were awesome, especially the mint dip.

Its one of the better Indian restaurants in Dorchester. Ideal for a casual curry if dinning in. Their takeaways are good too.

The place doesn't look great from the outside but don't let that put you off. The food was lovely and the service excellent. I would definitely recommend it as a place to go for a meal.

Ordered a lamb madras which had not a lot of flavour small chunks of meat and not a lot also had sheek kebab was flavourless small had fried mushrooms maybe 2 mushrooms in the dish paid over £17 for all of this worst Indian takeaway I have ever had please stay away from this place if u do not one 2 waste your money.

Avoid at all costs. Never had such awful service or food. Told it would be half hour. 90 minutes late.

Superb Indian meal. Nice restaurant too. Would need to book for Friday's and Saturdays as even Tuesday was quite busy.

Collected a takeaway order last night, don't know what's happened to the service, the old man that handed me my food avoided eye contact and said absolutely nothing when I said thank you. Walked out feeling like I had been an inconvenience. It might be a small thing but customer service costs nothing and can make or brake a return visit. Think I'll try Rajpoot next time

Consistent good food at a reasonable cost.

In the Past we Loved the Food but Sadly tonight’s Delivery was very Very Poor. Tandoori Butter Chicken was a Very Bad Korma made with Shredded Chicken. Chicken Teak-a was poorly Produced and The full meal was Such a Disappointment. Need to locate Another Better Delivery Service after 3 Years - Will NOT want that again

I ordered from here last night for me and my partner and it was absolutely disgusting!! The chicken had fat, cartilage, and veins amongst both of the Currys, it was completely inedible. Not only that the curry itself was basically cream with no flavour, I might aswell of chucked my money in the bin! Do not recommend.

Me and my husband have eaten takeaway and eaten in masala and was amazed by the curry's we sadly moved away and have not been there for sometime we decided to travel there new year's eve and get a takeaway unfortunately we both were very disappointed we had no sauce and was very dry plus found it very expensive

There was a group of 9 of us on a saturday at 8pm & we waited 2hrs before being served food & one of us got fed up of waiting & actually left & I was very close to following him. shocking service & the food wasn’t anything to write home about.I will not be going there again

Stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and so glad we did. Excellent service and fantastic tasty food. The naan is a must have! I only wish we lived closer to return regularly. Will definitely detour back again for more.

I went there last weekend on our way back after a day trip out of London, with family, 13 of us in total. The service was very poor. The waiters were impolite, and didn't seem too welcoming. Not one of them smiled or seemed friendly. We waited around 45 minutes or so after ordering and when asking how long the food would take to arrive, we were rudely asked why and if we were in a hurry and told to just wait it will come in when it's ready. We ordered drinks for the table and got cups for only half us at the table. The soft drinks we ordered were flat. Only the canned drinks were fizzy. The food was a little expensive for what we got. For example, the chicken on the starter menu was only 2 small pieces coated in around 2 inches of batter (or whatever it was that it was coated in) to make it look like a bigger piece of meat. We didn't get any sauces or dips for the food either we ordered either. Overall, we were all very disappointed with the food and service and would not be returning there.

My ex wife is Indian, and so I am fully acquainted with the very best traditional home cooked Indian food. Masala serves the best Indian food I have ever had at any Indian restaurant.

Ordered a family meal to be delivered to our parkdean lodge, warmwell, it was on time, hot and tasted lovely, would recommend trying them anytime.. Thankyou Masala 5*

Been here twice in the last year, once early in the year and once yesterday. Have to say I am not overly impressed and probably won't return. Staff acted like they didn't actually want us there, they wanted us out as soon as possible. Food is ok but in terms of price I would say its only worth it in the Eat out Help Out scheme. Disappointed as in previous years it has been really good.

Wednesdsy night, very quiet, Have to say food was bland and lacked texture. I am a frequent curry eater and enjoy spicy food. The Balti dish that I had wasn't freshly cooked, it was mushy and lacked key flavours. My 2 colleagues appeared to enjoy their food and my dish was finished off by one of them. Not wanting to spoil the evening I did not complain. Having been there 3 times in 4 weeks now I have been underwhelmed. They need to try harder

Ordered a takeaway this evening with my partner and I was utterly disappointed. I had a chicken vindaloo and obviously you order this for the heat and variety of spice except it just tasted like someone dumped a kilo of chilli powder over some chicken. The only thing I enjoyed from my takeaway was the Garlic Nann because it wasn't swimming in oil. Utterly disappointed.

I had a takeaway and it was excellent. The best I've tried in Dorchester so far. I did have to wait about 10 after the time I was told. I didn't really like the inside of the restaurant and the staff were polite enough but not friendly. I doubt I would eat in but I'll definitely be back for more takeaway.

Popped in on Valentine's Day, with no reservation, and was seated immediately. This was one of the few restaurants in town that didn't swap their regular menu for an expensive 3 course set menu for the evening. The food was amazing! Everything was fresh, and served family style so you could share. The service was very good, and the wait staff hovered out of eyesight, without feeling as though they were rushing you. I normally do Indian takeaway, but will definitely put this on my list of full service restaurants for the future.

After living in Dorchester for nearly 2.5 years, my wife and I finally went to Masala and really enjoyed it. The food was great as well as the price. The staff were superb- very attentive, but not over the top. They recognised when we were ready to leave and got us the bill right away. I would definitely go back, for lunch and dinner.

I have been eating the Masala's food now for over 5 years. While the restaurant is nice and the staff are polite the reason I choose to use only this restaurant for Indian food is because of the quality and taste! Pretty much any other Indian restaurant I have been to before has been pretty much the same as the last when it comes to the food. The Masala's food just tastes much better, more authentic and fresher than the rest. This will be obvious to anyone on their first mouthful so if you haven't tried them yet and love Indian food don't miss this little place. I recommend trying their Bombay potatoes, they are perfection! Three years after this review I can say it is still maintaining the best Indian food in Dorchester (probably Dorset) and perfect customer service.

Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants in Dorchester. Decor isn't great, service can be iffy, but food is always spot on.

The absolute BEST Indian cuisine in Dorchester without a doubt! Food always perfect eat in or take away. Amazing range of different dishes. Staff always friendly & you don't feel rushed when you have your meal. Fab! Wouldn't go anywhere else! Love this place!
