Marmalade in Conwy

I was a baby shower ono Zoom for my friend who lives in Wales. I'm in Dubai and we had people from Australia and various parts of England. I rang Marmalade and spoke to a fabulous lady who organised an afternoon tea for my friend and her mum. This would be delivered while we were doing the zoom call.My friend was so surprised and happy at the perfect delivery. Thank you so much. They said it was delicious-I wasn't jealous at all!

Afternoon Tea -: Four different fillings for very fresh sandwiches, crispy fresh salad, fruit scone with pot of jam plus generous potion of fresh whipped cream. three types of cake including Barabrith . Good value for money, ready when specified for time if collection. All in all excellent service well worth using.

Marmalade is a fabulous cafe. Dog friendly including doggy treats (for dogs not patrons) and fantastic food and cakes. Excellent gluten free choice, quick and accommodating service and awesome selection of dishes for every taste. I’ve eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here (on different occasions of course) and never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.

Booked a table for breakfast on a Sunday morning as we had visited previously for breakfast which was nice -but not the second time round! The tables were crammed in -although there was a plastic shield between us we were much too closely seated. The food itself was disappointed-cold plates food luke warm and the tea was so weak it was like drinking hot milk till I got a second teabag. Service was fine but felt rather rushed. Not a relaxing breakfast as I’d expected

Ordered cake for my dads birthday and it was absolutely lovely! Would 100% recommend. Fantastic value

Lovely little cafe that caters for omnivores, vegetarians, vegans and GF diets in equal measure. The food was lovely and the staff were very attentive. The prices were reasonable also. Staff wore face masks and tables were separated with plastic screens.

Friend recommended Rhos on Sea; Marmalade Kitchen is number 2. Delicious steak and onion on granary bread. Lovely relaxed atmosphere despite strict Covid compliance measures . Coukd not have had a better start to our first post Covid break

Visited this café for the first time 26th September at 1:30pm and it was very busy but managed to get a table. First thing to say is how much work has gone into making it as Covid secure as possible. Also best place I've visited locally for Track & trace adherence. All staff were very friendly and welcoming to our party which was me, my wife and 11 year old son. Food was excellent and the portions are very generous. Nothing was too much trouble when my son wanted extra ketchup for instance. I had the Welsh tea and the scone was nice and hot. Ben finished off with a slice of chocolate cake which he gave 11 out of 10 ha haCafé has a high standard of cleanliness and toilet was spotless so again credit to the staff.We now live locally in Abergele and come to Rhos often and our first visit here but will not be our last.

Food wasn't bad, but the attitude of the older waitress was not pleasant. Very condescending and talking down to us as if she was better then us. Ruined the nice experience for my wife and I. Ask for the younger waitress.

Found this lovely cafe with 3 days left of our holiday, wish we'd found it sooner. Great menu variety catering for an array of dietary requirements. Lovely, friendly and accommodating staff, tasty food and good coffee. We shall definitely be back next time we visit. Thank you

I visited here to get a takeaway drink and food.I received prompt service, didnt wait to long even though theh were busy and due to a wheezing problem i can't wear a mask, they were considerate towards this and allowed me to use the toilet.Food was lovely and the brews are good!Thanks.

We found this cafe on a list of gluten free places and we were not disappointed. The service and surroundings were very good and both the gluten free prawn sandwich and the Welsh Rarebit were well presented and tasty.Highly recommended.

Back open after lockdown and going the extra mile with COVID precautions. Our favourite cafe in Rhos on Sea and the surrounding area. Great food and homemade cakes.

Amazing strawberry cream tea.. totally scrummy and great friendly service 10/10. You won't be disappointed at all.

So much to choose from for lunch. Loads of vegan and veggie options too! Quick service and plentiful portions.

Stopped off in Rhos on route back from walking snowdon with my husband and little well behaved . Our usual cafe was full as it was a sunny afternoon and there was no indoor dining at this time all the tables outside taken. Almost disappointed we stumbled across marmalade and I must say this is our new favourite. We had 2 cream teas which came in a little takeaway box. We sat outside on the regularly cleaned table and chairs and enjoyed the afternoon sunshine. Although not on the front this tucked away little cafe might get missed. Well worth a visit

We visited for lunch on a Saturday. The place was very well laid out with safety measures for COVID. The menu was great and as vegans we had plenty to choose from. The food was lovely, service was great, we will definitely be back.

Such a lovely lunch, very friendly staff and excellent Covid measures! Fab social distancing with clear screens around tables and a hand gel on every table. Will definitely be visiting again!

Have been here several times over past couple of years... been twice this week... staying in Llandudno for a few days....this week was even better than before. Faultless service and food... as always!!...the charcuterie board was wonderful - but more than that, Covid 19 measures were excellent. Screens were so attractive... well done to designer and manufacturer... the place looked lovely....and I felt safe and welcomed. A big thank you to you all... hopefully see you again soon. ❤️

Really lovely salad outside, good portions, filling and tasty. The staff kept it wonderfully clean and socially distant and were very friendly. I definitely recommend it

I recently booked a table for Mothering Sunday for myself and my family. I booked over the phone and was informed that they needed a deposit of £10.00 to secure the table, which I did.Both my parents are in their 80's, so when they heard today's news made by the government regarding corona virus that it was recommending that we should stay away from cafe's, restaurants etc they both said that they were frightened of going, my mum isn't in good health so I decided to pop in and cancel giving them 5 days notice.I explained the circumstances to them and when I asked for my £10 deposit back, they point blank refused. I was absolutely disgusted as we weren't cancelling over something trivial, it wasn't as if I had left it last minute or I was cancelling willy nilly. I most certainly won't support this local business like I have done recently.Iam absolutely appalled at their lack of compassion.

Visited Marmalade last week with my wife and family . Great service and wonderful food .Thoroughly enjoyed my full Welsh breakfast . Super quality and very reasonable price . Lovely staff

Family of 4 plus dog visited on a wet windy day in March. Our food was excellent and the dog was treated too. Only a small place and very full, but the service was spot on. Not the cheapest cafe but the food is very good.Only inconvenience really was there is only one toilet and if a visitor is changing their baby ( pleased they provided those facilities) it can sometimes mean a bit of a wait.

Visited Marmalade Cafe on Saturday afternoon, it was very busy and had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was good and well presented, I felt the chips were rather expensive for a fairly small portion but otherwise it was a lovely meal. Will definitely visit again.

A nice family lunch out here again. Service impeccable! So friendly, prompt and very clued up to the needs of their guests. The refurb looks amazing, the menu featured the same old lovely treats you’re used to along with some new bits and bobs. Food arrived promptly and tasted amazing. Wish I had room for cake but not this time, keep it up. Any locals who haven’t been what are you waiting for?!

We isited Marmalade today and we had a really delightful visit. The food was really good. I had the cheese on toast, it was absolutely gorgeous. My husband had Simon's favourite, a small breakfast. The range of cakes is unbelievable. All the staff are a complete joy, nothing is too much trouble. We cannot wait to return.

Decent little cafe. Breakfast was decent. Not the best I've had not the worst. A previous review suggests nothing is fried apart from the chips? The sausages are definitely deep fried for your breakfasts. Personally I would prefer them grilled or done on a hot plate. Apart from that it was ok. Would return .

I attend Marmalade on a regular basis with my friends for a good girly catch up. I especially love the little snug area and often choose to sit in there. Along with the high chair for my son and his push chair, we all fit in . The staff are very welcoming and are very accommodating with requests ie. gluten free etc. They always come and ask how we are and join in our conversation and it’s great to have a good natter! This often continues over to Ellekat where once again we are made to feel extremely welcome. My little boy loves going as he is lavished with lots of attention. I would definitely recommend this little gem in Rhos on Sea.

Very misleading sign in window claiming that they are dog friendly when they are clearly not! Went in with our extreemly well behaved pooch and were made to feel like lepers and ushered to the furthest corner of the establishment - may as well have been pushed into a broom cupboard! needless to say we upped and left and definitley won't bother visiting again. Wonder what they would do with you if you were disabled or in a wheelchair?

A new regular stop for us, the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Good food, good coffee, great staff, always busy - what more could one want?! it is also attractively furnished and centrally placed.

Very disappointed with today’s visit. Coffee stains along the wall and bits of mop on the floor!! Food was very greasy not the best.

Was walking past here today and decided to give it a try. And so glad I stopped. What a lovely place. Food was lovely and fresh and cakes were just amazing. Lived here all my life and never been in here. But I will defiantly be returning and recommending

here as a family of 11 and we have to say the food rice and wuality was absolutely amazing! beautiful nachos scones a s hot chocolates will definitely come back if in the area again thanks

I ordered a Welsh cooked breakfast and my wife ordered avocado, poached eggs, bacon and sour dough bread. I ordered a pot of tea and my wife ordered a large americano. I was extremely pleased to see that the tea is loose leaf tea, my favourite. A relief to find somewhere that doesn’t serve tea bags and why not. Places take pride in their choice of coffee so why not offer a tea drinker loose leaf tea? The breakfasts arrived on very hot plates, perfectly cooked. I asked for a side plate for my toast, as I am blind, and don’t want too much on my main plate. This was duly provided. All in all each item of food was perfect and the drinks were as well. We wil certainly return here.

We've samples quite a few breakfasts around the area from the overpriced beach cafe and others and I have to say this one's the best around.

Lovely little find, great food, great staff, great atmosphere, highly recommended, great prices. Just off main promenade opp breakwater. In a little row of shops. Parking opp cafe busy but noticed quick turnaround

First time visit last week. Very welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Nice pots of tea and the poached eggs on toast were lovely. Thought it was a little bit pricey but the food was very nice. One little gripe was that we were there at 930am and a lot of tables were reserved - but in the time I was there, the people who had reserved them didnt arrive, making other people have to sit where they could rather than where they wanted. Will be back though and would recommend.

Come here regularly as it has a happy atmosphere and serves a very good pot of tea (real tea) and cappuccino. Had a bacon sandwich today and pleased to see nicely cooked quality bacon - enjoyed! Very obliging staff. In my opinion, would like to see a better selection of traditional sponge cakes rather than the tray cakes.

Usually love this place but this morning very unwelcoming. Rushed to place food order. Came wrong and the lady argued with me that I didn’t order what I did... wouldn’t let it go and was very very rude and embarrassing. She also forgot one meal tutted and walked off. No explanation or apology and last meal came out 10 mins after everyone else with burnt toast. Used to go here in the week & most weekends. Never again. And it was dirty and sticky tables.

Scone was beautiful. Warm and fresh. Jam & cream fine but thought the butter was a imitation butter type margarine.

I ordered the "Sam's Special" which was described as a potato cake, black pudding, bacon, and a poached egg.

Had one of the best full breakfasts ever well cooked and tasty and to top it a pot of tea with TEA Leaves yes proper tea we visit Rhos on sea regularly and this is where we be eating from now on

Stopped off on the way to Anglesey for tea and scones. The gluten free scones were amazing, the best I've ever had, and they gave me two which was lovely as usually I'd be disappointed that mine was half the size of the 'normal' scones. Friendly service too, we'll be back to try the cakes soon!

It was a pleasure to visit ‘Marmalade’ whilst staying in Colwyn Bay for a County Cricket Match.

Six adults waiting for the door to open. Tables soon adjusted and we ordered 5 Welsh breakfasts and 1 egg with avocado. The tea was excellent (real leaves) not tea bags! The food came and obviously was decent quality. Back bacon, egg,black pudding, sausages,mushrooms and real tomatoes. Toast too was fresh and not from a large supermarket pack. By the time we left all tables had been taken,so, they must be doing something right??!! We shall go again and very soon I hope.

Me and my friend went to Marmalades cafe for lunch 3 years ago, food looked nice so thought we'd give it a try. This was the moment that changed our lives forever as me and my friend ended up getting e.coli.0157 this is the worst strand of e.coli you can get. We ate contaminated rocket from Marmalades, there was faeces on the rocket, public health and environmental health were involved. As a result we spent months in hospital in absolute agony and barely survived, all because they served us contaminated rocket! As a result I have no good bacteria in my body, an extremely weak immune system and multiple allergies, because of eating this contaminated food and it has changed my life forever! Another friend of mine made a silly move today by going to eat here (not realising what had happened to me) and found an ALIVE beetle in her food. My advice, stay away go somewhere else, it was and always will be a death trap!!!

We go to this place a lot! Great food and service at very reasonable prices. Full Welsh Breakfast is to die for! Great selection of homemade cakes baked in house. Used a lot by the localss ,always a good sign. Deserves every success.😊

Had a lovely lunch at Marmalade today. Good and patient service and a variety of options on the menu, including for gluten free diners and children. Lemon & poppy seed gluten free cake and the scone & jam were excellent.

We have tried the victoria sandwich and bera birth before which were faultless so flavoursome and simply yummy. We were visiting family on the Island (Anglesey) and decided to take a selection of cakes with us. I was recommended the Guinness and Ginger cake.... oh my it was simply scrummy! We also took a brownie, and few others. They were all huge so we cut them in half and sat in our families garden able to indulge in rach flavour. I cannot recommend these cakes enough. Xx

I've been here a couple of times before and never been disappointed. This time, I had a Welsh rarebit served with salad, which was very tasty. I had a portion of chocolate cake for afters. I was spoilt for choice, the menu is varied and there are specials on a board. There are also many cakes and puddings on offer. Service is good and servers are efficient and friendly. A little gem.

A real shame... We came here a while ago and had a wonderful experience, however for whatever reason today everything slipped and was a disaster. The staff were nice and helpful, and everything was great until the food arrived.

Came here for a bite to eat - my wife and I had the jacket potato with Chilli - delicious. My two boys had the pulled pork Panninis and they too were lovely and tasted great. We saw other people’s food come out and it looked good - the staff were friendly and welcoming and the place was constantly busy - obviously a popular place in Rhos-On-Sea. I would certainly go back and try something else on the menu or just go back for coffee and cake maybe?!

Loverly food, friendly and attentive staff . We’ve been here four times .We love it here . Food is cooked fresh . My husband said it serves the best BLT they’re scones are great too.

The happy, meet, greet and seat was a lovely approach. There was great knowledge and some choice of Gluten Free, Vegetarian and Vegan food. The food was great. Changes to please the palate were no problem and all done with ease and happily despite the venue being extremely busy. What more could a diner ask for and certainly no more can be expected. A great experience, lovely people and the cafe deserves to be successful as it obviously is. Visiting from New Zealand, we just loved Marmalade.

We were nearby and looking for a tasty lunch and that is what we got. Really lovely friendly staff. Very welcoming. I saw a salad being taken to another table and it looked lovely so ordered one myself and it was really good. Partner had a massive fish finger sandwich.

Lovely,warm and friendly staff welcomed us immediately to this cute little cafe with a sea view. Coffee was excellent as was my lovely eggs Benedict. This place is as good as when visited two years ago. The cakes looked very attractive ready for later

Lovely home made cake,. Victoria sponge especially good. Friendly, reasonable prices,much better than the big chains. Will visit again when in the area.

This cafe is local to us but having passed it numerous times our visit was, I suspect, overdue. We only popped in for a cuppa and cake but were very pleased with the food, service and premises. There seemed to be available a wide range of cakes (I opted for the Guinness and ginger - what's not to like?!). The snacks and meals included in the menu piqued our interest and we're likely to return, to try them. We used the WC facilities, something whose standard other reviewers have commented on, during our visit. We're sure the business would improve them, but it is clearly hampered by the modest premises in which they operate.

My husband and I called in for tea and cake to a very busy cafè. Our order was taken after my husband indicated the cakes we wanted. Our tea arrived after 15 minutes. I was pleased to see loose leaf tea but sadly it did not deliver on flavour. 15 mins later we had still not received our cake and I noted others were restless due to the slow service.

Heard a ot about this place and tried to give it a go. Luckily we booked a table ( 2 adults, 1 big and 1 small dog) as the place was jampacked. We were in a fairly quiet place where the dogs could chill out. The very friendly staff came to clean the table immedeatly and a little pot with doggy bones was left.

Absolutely marvellous Great selection on the menu wonderful atmosphere... if you want afternoon tea - perfect

We passed this place earlier and once I saw how busy it was I was determined to make a beeline for it on our return! We were lucky to get a seat but I'm so glad we did! Dog friendly (always welcomed) my partner had the Welsh rarebit..... delicious and I had one of their open sandwiches.... real doorstop bread and generous filling. I'm happy to say we will make a return journey when next here!

We popped here for lunch on a walk back from Llandudno. Great service, lovely food and very reasonably priced. The tuna panini was superb!! The place was busy for the hour or so we were there. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped off with a colleague for mid-morning and thoroughly enjoyed well cooked and imaginative breakfasts. Reasonable prices and great staff. The nation needs more cafés such as Marmalade.

Extremely busy when we walked in. One table in the back. Friendly staff. Ordered hut beef, caramalised onions with side of salad for my husband and the broccoli and stilton soup. Both were delicious. Wanted a cake as they looked scrummy but too full! Will return.

We visited on Monday after walking along the promenade from Colwyn Bay and cane back again today, Thursday, just so we could have lunch again here. Very friendly. Great food and service. Highly recommended. Dog friendly too which our King Charles puppy appreciated.

On my first visit my neice was having a fish finger butty and i ordered 1 with chips it was lovely and just the job for dinner time . On my next visit being on my own i ordered it again lol to my surprise i received the adult version lol what a fantastic meal dog friendly and staff are lovely especially becky lol

We called on the Saturday for lunch which was totally amazing all the staff are so lovely a credit to the owners, we went back on the Sunday for breakfast omg totally amazing a huge thank you to all the staff

We popped in here for lunch when travelling to the west coast. Service was friendly and the food was good.

I visit regularly as we have a caravan nearby in Towyn. This time I was helping my Grandsons mum out by taking care of him during half term, so we felt lazy and went out for breakfast.

Been to marmalade many times and we are always impressed by the service and friendly attention received from the staff. Good meals and excellent cakes and a good selection of teas available. Catered well for our little granddaughter and made a fuss of her. Will be back of course.

Took a trip up the coast to visit Ellekat and were recommended to go to Marmalade to eat.

Cycled to Rhos on Sea from Rhyl needed a cuppa and a treat. Saw Marmalade cafe clean and tidy girl was tidying up as soon as people left. Shown to a table by a friendly girl, given a couple of menu's good range didn't seem overpriced.

Excellent service. Friendly and welcoming. The staff here recognize special dietary needs and accommodate well. Good sized portions. The home made scones are seriously recommended but don't plan on eating much after one of these. Well worth the 5***** rating. We will certainly return

Booked a breakfast this morning at Marmalades. Hit the spot on such a rainy day on the North Wales coast. What a lovely kick start to the day, breakfast & staff perfect. Excellent that they now let well behaved dogs inside.

Love this little gem. It's like home from home for us we are always made to feel welcome. Such a lovely atmosphere and still professional.

What a beautiful cafe, lovely friendly service and the Flat White was beyond stunning!! Perfect little stop off!! The Nachos were stunning with pleanty of cheese and salsa and sour cream! We will definitely be revisiting this fabulous little gem x

I went here for mothers day upon arrival we were given a gift bag for mum, the food was delicious staff were friendly! Amazing service I can't wait to keep going back. Everyone is just so friendly thank you to the marmalade cafe team.

Popped in for a coffee and ended up having a breakfast stack which was delicious. My partner had chips ...some of the best chips I've ever had, even though they were his! Lovely staff, very polite and friendly.

Having been to a few different cafes in Rhos-on-sea this is definitely the best. The staff are warm and welcoming, particularly the owner who was lovely with our son and the food is very nice. Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Visited Marmalade at the weekend for a bite to eat and we weren't disappointed. My wife had Smashed Avocado with Poached egg on gluten free bread and commented how delicious it tasted. I just had a scone with jam and cream which was a pleasure to eat! The staff were very friendly and attentive and I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment if you are visiting Rhos on Sea!

Second visit and very good again. Each had a sandwich and a drink and shared chips. Cost about £21, which is aboutpar for the course for the amount and quality of the food. Staff were friendly and in the heart of the town. The sandwiches were enormous, mine absolutely packed with prawns, and accompanied by crisps and salad. Perhaps the only (positive) criticism is that the portions were too large!

Lovely aesthetic. Tasty Cakes. Brilliant customer service. Good value for money. Loved it at the Marmalade Cafe. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quick coffee and cake near the Welsh coast in rhos-on-sea.
