Great Bakery, and a great selection. however the staff behind the counter could use a lesson in decorum.

The title says it all, absolutely gorgeous. It actually took me 3 days to finish it (it was that big) but it stayed fresh Plenty of choice too

Firstly let me say that this is a lovely shop but we have had a very poor experience in it.We visited during the post covid lockdown period and as such there were social distancing measures in place, all fine, happy to oblige. We went in after queuing with our two children. My son, 6, went to use the hand sanitiser station, held his hands underneath while I pushed the dispenser which seemed to be stuck. I pushed harder and the alcohol gel suddenly squirted out at such speed that it hit his hands and then bounced off them, directly into his eyes. Obviously chaos ensued. He was screaming, a lady, who seemed to be the manager, grabbed a bottle of water and myself and my husband took him outside and doused his eyes. It really was extremely upsetting for us all. Thankfully the water combined with his tears seemed enough to wash the gel out and after 20 minutes or so the stinging had calmed down. I'm not really upset about the actual incident, accidents happen, thankfully there seems to be no lasting damage, but I am upset that when I went back into the shop to politely suggest they put up a warning sign or change the dispensor the same lady who had grabbed the water said the dispensor was working fine and it was my son's fault for standing too close! Now I do really have an issue with this. My son is 6, his arms were held out at length, there is no other position he could possibly be in. The stuff literally sprayed out in a high powered jet and covered his face and t-shirt. Alcohol gel is corrosive to soft tissues and at the very least stings like a ba****d if you get it in your eyes. Blaming my son was absolutely not an appropriate response and it has upsrt me. It also worries me that it could easily happen again.

Called into Spar yesterday not realising , it was the bakery window that attracted me , however being a huge fan of the spar in Pwllheli, I also decided to buy a few extras ,,,, milk , strawberries plus my two spinach and feta pasties !!! I opened the milk tonight dated 15/05/20 to make evening drink and it’s sour !!!! I have to say unfortunately , just like the ladies face behind the till !!!!! Not a please, thank you , smile would have gone a long way , but nothing !!!! She was all over the gentleman in front of me , but I was very dissatisfied by her attitude towards me !!!! Sorry Spar you’ve just lost a customer , we live in the area but will find somewhere else to shop in future !!!

We came here a few times during our week stay in Wales to get snacks, drinks and pastries! There was so much to choose from in the bakery - i loved the flapjack and my boyfriend enjoyed the rocky road. We also tried the pastries - the bacon and cheese foldover was lovely. Great find!

A delightful little 'popty' or bakery on the main street in Betws Y Coed serving freshly baked breads and fancies.If you are searching for a genuine Bara Brith amongst the many on offer this bakeries offering is really good, I take a few home for the freezer!!!Recommended.

We dropped in for bread but were surprised ar the fantastic local bakery range on offer , we settled with the Bara Brith and caramel shortbread both tasted fantastic well worth a visit if your staying in the area

Very good selection of cakes & savouries & drinks, hot & cold to make your own picnic. Turn left out of their door, cross road & over bridge to sit by the lovely river.

Great little shop for stocking up. If you’re late down from the mountain and local pubs and restaurants have stopped food, this place is and has been a life saver!

I found the staff to be totally disinterested in serving anyone but their acquaintances and the shop to be dirty, untidy and poorly stocked.I was rather hungry so put all my judgement aside and waited by the bakery counter to be served, after a couple of minutes of no service I gave up and walked out. Luckily just a little way up the road there is a lovely little cafe where I got a nice cup of coffee and a lovely slice of cake !

The bakery had beautiful cakes and lots of choice,well set out and very helpful. Cakes were amazing. Definitely one to visit

We called in to buy something to have for our evening meal at our holiday cottage and were immediately drawn to the in-store bakery. We can thoroughly recommend the spinach and feta slices, the cheese and onion slices and the bacon and cheese turnover. They offered to heat them up for us but we reheated in our cottage oven with some chunky chips (also purchased in the spar) - delicious. Friendly staff too.

I bought a cherry cake that stated allergens as gluten and egg. After eating a small slice I suffered a massive allergic reaction leaving me stranded for 3 hours lying on a coast path in the blazing midday sun sicking my guts up. When my vertigo attack lessened sufficiently fort me to move upright slowly with the aid of my hiking sticks to somewhere safer I was badly sunburnt bitten to death with horseflies and have had to sleep for 17 hours to start my recovery period. The staff didn’t know the ingredients so the only info to use was what was written on the label. This is horrendous. I have a milk and soya allergy but I still go on holiday and as a human I need to eat and have no choice but rely on the care and consideration of people who provide food. Your total lack of care has taken a big toll on me. This is utterly unacceptable.

I understand Spar's are franchise, and this one contains a traditional welsh bakery with amazing cakes and pasties. Especially good is the unbelievably huge beef and potato ogee which is bigger than a man's head.

Called in to pickup some fresh bread rolls and ended up with museli flapjacks as well, so I am happy. Nice little shop and bakery plus nice to know you can get freshly made filled rolls So will definitely be back

On a recent Wednesday afternoon, me and Hubby went in here to get a takeaway lunch. The Spar Shop's in-store bakery was established 30 years ago. Hubby chose 2 x small/hot bacon & cheese turnovers @ £1.30 I opted for a fresh turkey salad bap @ £2.80. We picked up a few other things from the store and paid for the lot at the counter (contactless card payments accepted). This is the best bakery in Betws and by far the best value for money. We took our food to the park across the road and ate it in the sunshine.

There's plenty on offer here with long opening hours and friendly staff. The rolls looked lovely but we didn't have any as we tried out the cake selection instead. All very nice although not excellent. Some looked nicer than they tasted but represented good value for money.

Had a large selection of goodies Gor lunch in the park. All very tasty, lamb and mint was a favourite. Kids loved it too.

I popped in for some snacks not really expecting to find much, if anything, suitable for vegans so I was delighted to find vegan sausage rolls and vegan cupcakes in the bakery. Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly I went back a couple of times to stock up on vegan delights.

Great village shop, bought straws which are not available in the pubs, shame Betws, you could invest in paper ones for the pubs.

Whilst the store has everything a tourist shopper is likely to need for a short self-catering store, the big draw is the inshore bakery.

We have just done around trip of 320 to get flapjacks they are amazing I think they must have a few calories in them but not many They are fabulous

Bought here a few times fresh made sandwiches. All the sandwiches we bought (crab, tuna, ham and bacon/eggs) where superb, And the sandwiches are very well priced. Keep in mind that it can be very busy during lunch hours.

This is much more than you would expect from a Spar! The bakery is first class; cakes and puddings are just great, as are the prices! The wholemeal bread is the best I have tasted.

We used this shop every day of our holidays , they have home made cakes, sandwiches, booze, and just about everything you would expect.

Top shop was recommended to me because of the excellent bakery. I must admit I was skeptical but the shop and especially the bakery are first rate. You can,t beat their bacon and cheese wraps. Highly recommended.

We visited in August 2018 and stopped off to take a look around but didn't want lunch but just snacks. We visited the spar bakery and had various items as there were a large group of us. The selection was very good, well stocked, very fresh and great value. We highly recommend calling in here if you are in the area.

We made this place our go to for a lunch to take up Snowdon. We picked up a baguette each and they were amazing and hit the spot at the top of Snowdon.

This grocery store/bakery is a gem of a place, located centrally in Betws High Street. We purchased tasty and well-filled rolls to take for our lunches every day on our various walks around this beautiful area. Every town should have one of these shops!

We had enjoyed fish and chips earlier in the day but went in here to get a cake for afters. We were blown away by the choice and quality of cakes and pies on offer, and at reasonable prices. All cakes were delicious, in fact we went back in later to buy sandwiches and cakes to take back to our holiday cottage for our tea. Wish our local Spar offered such a choice !!

Stopped in on the way past to get some cakes for the day, really impressed with the generously sized of cakes on offer, couldn't help noticing freshly made rolls and sanwiches and the chance to buy a bread and butter pudding to take home and warm up.

went in here and had a nice blackberry fruit slice its like a tart topped with a really light crumble,and fresh cream slice, had 2 latte coffees out of the machine which was also very nice and tasty,the ladies were so polite behind the counter and did'nt mind waiting while ummed and arred at all the cakes.if they think its a pain while people keep them waitingthey really dont show ,bless them.thanks

If you are here for the walking and need a packed lunch, then this is the place to get the food. Recommend the large Cornish( or should it be Welsh?) pasties and Sandwiches

On a recent Monday afternoon, me and Hubby went for a walk around Betws. We popped into the Spar Shop (standard). We went to the bakery counter where there was a tempting display of home-made cakes and pastries. We chose 2 small custard tarts @ £1 each. We ate them in the park across the road. They were a tasty treat with no soggy bottom!

I recently got married and asked Danny if he could help me with a desert table. He was absolutely amazing, everyone complimented how fresh the cakes were and the presentation was amazing and at a great price. He went over and above to deliver the cakes to my venue and also emailed me after the big day to congratulate us. An excellent and reliable business who deliver exceptional products and understand the importance of customer service. We will definitely be back again to sample more of your delights. Its a typical spar shop but made changes over the past years and there is a good selection of take aways for thos going into the mountains for the day and it has all you require is selfcatering. small Spar but delivers big..

We used the shop a couple of times, well stocked & open til late! It was the bakery that stood out for me! A very wide range of savoury, sandwiches( ready made & freshly made to order) & cakes! All seemed of good quality a fresh. We can recommend the "Barra bread" very nice Welsh delicacy!

One side is newspapers, general grocery & alcohol, with a comprehensive range of goods for a small shop. The other side is a bakery selling a good choice of fresh sandwiches in bread/rolls of your choice, hot or cold pasties/sausage rolls & CAKES! Oh yes!And the staff are pleasant & helpful too.

Whenever me and dad go out mountaineering around the area, along the way we always stop here to buy to food and snacks for the day. They make some lovely sandwiches.

1 week stay booked at this lovely village. Whilst visiting the area with my wife I was very much intrigued to check out local amenities and products. I found the bakery itself exceptional for choice to suit almost every pallet. However I must say the store itself is a bit of a let down. Too many gaps in stock lines throughout with very little alternative choice. Speciality wines on promotion were out of stock so we had to settle for a generic bottle instead. Much to our dismay when arriving at the till point (having queued twice) we found some of our items including the wine (that was on offer) not scanning at the till point and scanning at a higher price than displayed! Frustrating experience as you would have thought that the grocery would have been sufficient but its wasn't the case. Several times during the course of the week we visited and pretty much the same conclusion.

Hubby and I went into this small Spar Shop on Wednesday. It was quite busy. It is an average Spar Shop but has a very good bakery section. You have to queue twice though - first at the bakery counter (where you have a wide choice of pies, pasties and cakes) and then you join another queue at the shop tills in order to pay. We bought a Bara Brith Fruit Loaf which was very tasty.

we were only here a couple of hours visiting, and found this just on walking around. we were travelling onto Ruthin, and thought we would get some treats for after our evening meal. The staff were very helpful and packed the order up really well as i explained we were going to be in the car a while. the cream scones were delightful, just what we all needed and the chocolate cake bought for the children, went down a storm with only crumbs left :)

Within the Spa at Betws y Coed there is a bakery which has the most amazing pies, pasties and cakes. Most are £1.10 and are big enough to share but good enough to eat it all by yourself!They Spar also sells everything a local store does.

I used the shop before and loved it. This time though I needed 15 packed lunches for a group. Danny and his team were great. They were really clear at explaining how it could work. I survey monkeyed my group the choices and then gave it to the team at the shop. They individually wrapped up each individual lunch for everyone with labels of their name and the content! The choice of food was really good for a mountain trek. The quality of the homemade food was fantastic. For a large group it was quite miraculous that we were able to please everyone. Everyone looked very satisfied at the top of Snowdon eating all said it was brilliant. It was so nice to work with people who were reliable, efficient, organised, did things over and beyond with complete willingness. On top of this they seemed genuinely kind , which just made my life nicer. The packed lunches were great value for money. Definitely would work with the shop again.

This store was a great find, it has everything that you would expect from a local store and more. We loved the cakes pastures and best of all were the fresh hot cooked breakfast sandwiches- all reasonably priced and good if your up early and on the move. Run by very friendly staff.

We love visiting this bakery when we visit Betws Y Coed. Always fresh supplies whatever time of day you go there. Plenty to choose from. From Panini's to sausage rolls. Reasonable prices. Friendly Welsh speaking staff.

A great shop and bakery, we always visit when in the area and are never disappointed. Cake selection is superb, so too is the shop.

This is a really nice shop to visit , the cakes and pasties are delicious and the staff there are very friendly and pleasant. We tried the Beef oggies (very large), lamb and mint pasties, mincemeat slices, currant slices, flapjack and granary bread and we would recommend them all!

Good selection of fresh food for our picnic and friendly staff. Good selection of beers and wines at reasonable prices if you're staying over as we were...Hotel prices a lot more and shop right on high street.

Fantastic little shop and bakery, they make fantastic rolls and sandwiches here as well as cakes and welsh oggies, the staff are always so friendly and helpful too. if your in Betws-y-Coed and want something to eat pop in, they have some you like,

This is basically a small bakery located inside a Spar shop but it's sells some of the best cakes I've ever eaten. Bendigedig as the locals would say!

Came in on a Saturday evening. We had to after seeing the high rating it had on Trip Advisor. The fresh cake stand looked seriously tasty. I wish our spar had this facility!! That said I'd probably gain half a stone in no time!The two ladies on duty were absolutely lovely. We were talking to them for at least ten minutes and having a genuine laugh with them! Asking us about our stay and where we had been! Customer service skills second to none!!I wish our spar was like this!

I called in after finding it quite funny that the Spar was ranked #12 out of #25 of places to eat in Betws-y-coed. Then I called in Saturday evening, 5th November 2016. What lovely staff. The 2 ladies working were so lovely. Very chatty, friendly and helpful I only called in for some bits and bobs with my wife but we could of chatted to them all night. The cakes, pies and other sweet foods in the bakery looked lovely. For the staffs attitude and friendliness alone I would give them #1 in betws-y-coed.

I called in here for a snack around lunch time , I ordered at one counter a pasty and cake , then waited while they heat the pasty in a microwave oven, then you have to stand in the que at another counter to pay while the pasty burns your hands as it's so hot , this is awful , maybe a bit of customer consideration is needed here ,I won't be back here in a hurry

Aswell as having the Spar shop it was really nice to have the bakery open for a lovely toffee slice on the way back to the B&B from having a meal on fri night.

Was served by someone in the bakery section who literally just threw my cakes into bag and whilst queuing, she then came over to the other side to serve paying customers. No pleasantries, couldn't work out how to use the lottery machine, she was told it couldn't be done......had to explain to her how to do it and even forgot to give me my change. Definitely wouldn't pass a mystery customer.

Possibly an unusual place for a five star review but over the years whilst staying in the area, this shop has been invaluable, either for buying picnic lunch ingredients, last minute evening shops or sampling their delicious pies and pastries.In my family its main claim to fame is as the place where we purchased our first bottle of Toffoc Vodka!

Loved this bakery. Shop was open till quite late too so could buy their yummy cakes almost anytime. Handy with the Spar shop within the bakery too.

Visited yesterday to buy lunch for the family. We bought a selection of cakes plus pasties and sausage rolls, no one was disappointed. Well worth a visit for a cheap, quick lunch. Could do with a till at the bakery side instead of queuing again to pay at the Spar till.
