Marleys Fish Bar in Tendring

0wner chatty shop run down only has cod only no other food on show no pies savs have to wait for food to be cooked shop could be given a lick of paint

Well there is a saying when in business the customer is always right well that don’t seem to apply to Marleys fish bar. Tonight ordered a large cod which was more like the size of a normal cod but when it come out the pan I checked it out to make sure the batter was crispy which it was not so asked him to put it back for a bit longer which he did. I explained to him that last weeks fish was lovely but when unwrapping the fish the batter had stuck to the paper his reply was impossible!!! And become argumentative saying his been cooking fish for 31 years. I said I simply asked you to cook the fish a bit longer not have a argument so said this is the last time I will come here his reply was fine I don’t care !!! No wonder he don’t get many customers with his attitude problem. The place is very run down not sure how the food hygiene people have not been involved.

Terrible food, cod was watery, batter was very greasy and the chips looked and tasted like they were about 3 days old and been re-heated. The large cod was more like a small cod and very expensive compared to other chip shops. I found the man in the shop very rude and unhelpful, I shall never use them again.

Passing after a rainy day, fantastic chips and burger Especially lovely owner / server Will be on my list for our next visit xxx

We stopped by Marley’s on the way back from the beach and it was delicious. Great value and cooked fresh to order. Would highly recommend!

My family have been using for years, always well cook fish nice and crispy batter chips double fried and alway a smile from the boss.

i live in inverness and i travel south to visit family i use this place often everything is cooked fresh people are so lucky to have a chip shop where things are cooked to order hossain the owner is very pleasant and dose his utmost to please

Very nice fish and chips also good price and cock fresh by order it takes time but it's worth to Waite and pay

This is my nearest chippy but i don't use it anymore . Tried it a few times over the years and although it's pretty much the same prices as others , most others are much fresher and better quality . Last time i bought there we both decided it would be the last . Both the fish and the chips looked dark because the old oil needed changing , and the taste of it was in the food . This wasn't the first time it was like it , but for us it's the last .

Went here for the first time tonight, the owner was such a nice person to talk to, food was very tasty, I'll be back again. Dave.

One of the bests things ive ever eaten in my life. 10/10 really recommend it! Chips are nice and crispy, experienced chef and lovely fish golden like nothing else.

asked my husband to bring some chips home..he walked in with only what i can describe as..old earthy potatoes that have been cooked in old fat..truely never seen chips like em..not eaten and thrown away..thank god he just got chips..waste of money
