Marks & Spencer Cafe in Sefton

This is one of the worst cafes I’ve seen. All tables full of dirty plates. Floor was dirty and the staff were busy talking to people they knew and not getting on with their job. Would avoid at all costs as there are cheaper and cleaner place’s nearby.

Visited with my wife and mother in law who wanted spend some vouchers. Too many self service points and the one till that was staffed, the person needs to be trained and taught some manors.

I went to the cafe and ordered coffee and toast the toast took nearly half an hour to arrive. All of the staff are friendly and polite except the older woman who I asked who was quite rude. The cafe take the money off you straight away but the service was shocking. It won’t b a mistake that I will be repeating.

Rude staff engorging the customers and looking them in the eye and engorging them I would expect why more from M&S so please do better

Staff more interested in looking at their rota for who should be doing what instead of serving customers. Huge que( i waited 20mins to be served). Didn't have any hot chocolate. I ordered 2 turkey gravy dippers. Was told there would be a 15 minute wait( was ok with that)...20 mins later someone came out and said they had ran out...about an hour wasted in total and a very upset child by this time...i do not recommend and will never return.

Went for a family visit everything was fine until eggs Benedict the egg was boiled not poached and the meal was cold so I do not recommend M&S please do better service

We called in here for lunch as we were shopping on the estate. Menu not very appealing and we were tempted to try elsewhere but (sadly) decided to stay. We ordered a sausage breakfast roll and a 'crunchy cheese' jacket potato, which turned out to be 'just cheese' when we asked what was in it ? We also ordered a pot of tea and a Latte. We had been warned of a fifteen minute wait on food but our drinks were prepared there and then. First thing we noticed was that there were no saucers to go with the cups that were the type that clearly should come with/on a saucer. Also, my Latte was served in the same cup rather than a glass although it tasted nice. The food arrived after about ten minutes. My sausage roll was ok although very small. However, my wife's jacket potato was laughable. A barely warm potato with a load of grated cheese plonked on it which had not melted down in the slightest as there was not enough heat to do so. She took some of the cheese off and the potato had no butter in it at all making the whole thing very dry and unappertising. She went off to ask them for some butter and mayonnaise to try and make it edible but it didn't help matters. She called over a passing waitress to ask if she could get it hotter so the cheese would melt but was told this was not allowed in the industrial type ovens and microwaves they use ? and she agreed with us that it was not ideal but rules were rules ! She managed to work her way through the meal, I had polished off my child's size portion in no time, but left a load of the cheese. Basically a really poor lunch and not cheap. Will not be visiting here again, much better to be had at any garden centre or even Asda up the road. I can't believe that a company like M&S who have a reputation for quality food think this is acceptable

Popped into M & S early morning just after opening at 8am. Looked around store bought some nice fresh bread and went to the cafe - had a great cappuccino and toast with jam - all tasted great and service was excellent from the two ladies serving - one even carried my toast to the table. However - this is where the nice part of my visit ended and the sole reason my review only merited 2 stars....... Popped to the ladies toilets just before 9am, so I was one of the first customers, if not the first to use these facilities that day and toilet seat was up and rather stained on underside. The huge Belfast type sink was so dirty and grimy in corners - sink and taps looked like they had not had a proper clean in weeks - the bottom of the taps were grubby and stained - nothing a good daily clean and bleach will get off - see photos. Was shocked by this for M & S as there must be no quality checks on how clean these toilets are.

No stock of things people wanted I would not recommend this place for family visits.This has happened more then multiple times

Nice to pop in here for a coffee whilst out shopping. Pity the staff are not the most welcoming or friendly! Customer service courses would be of benefit here. Granted it was a little busy, 2 groups of people waiting (patiently) to be seated, but not nice to see staff walking past eachother looking up in the air and arguing who the next is to serve on the till. Marks and spencer need to think about shaking this team up a bit....lots of people out there would be grateful for a nice little job like theirs!

Dirty table even thought it had been wiped as the table cleaner pointed it had been cleaned! My bacon Ciabattas had lots of fat dripping out and it was a bit grisly. Tea was ok. Tea spoons had lots of staining on them

The cutlery was not clean, I had to search through the teaspoons for an unstained one, likewise with the knives and forks all required wiping with a serviette. Once seated I could see brown stains on the air conditioning unit. Unfortunately the restaurant has been woefully neglected during the recent upgrade and falls well below the expectations of Marks and Spencer. It is not the staffs fault they were working hard but were under resourced, this is clearly a management issue.

We visited on Saturday afternoon for the first time in over 6 months and it was lovely to be back. The staff have a good system in place and it was clean and tidy. I’ve missed the staff as they are always so welcoming and pleased to see you and happy to chat - which is great. It was lovely to see Carol and I can’t wait to see Sandra again. The place wouldn’t be the same without them.

M&S Cafe is now reopened, though reduced capacity which actually more pleasant. Slightly reduced menu, soups, jackets, toaties, sabdwiches and all drinks.

Coffee is really great and price is good Worth visit Breakfast looks fab and will try on my next visit Nice place and staff are really friendly and helpful

Popped in for a quick toasty and Latté and hot chocolate. Staff were efficient and friendly. Nice atmosphere.

We called in here for lunch. Signs all over the place saying only limited hot food was available? We got a couple of teas, a toastie and an egg sandwich. Food was ok, tea was quite nice although served in cardboard cups? no napkins available? fourteen pounds for a toastie, egg butty and two teas? not good value for money, the surroundings aren't as nice as you'd expect or paying for

Stopped for a coffee and lunch for first time whilst shopping in M & S - Aintree. Good coffee but toastie was dreadful. Chose the mushroom and cheese toastie. It arrived and top looked fine but thats where it ended... Pre made and warmed up but the reverse side is not toasted at all and tasted like stale bread - worst toastie i have ever tasted, Even one side had hardly any mushrooms in it. Not cheap either. Never again - better eateries to have lunch in the area on this shopping estate..

We go there now and again, have had toasted teacakes a number of times, but on this occasion was not toasted on both sides which made it taste very doughy, they have always been toasted on both sides in the past. My main criticism is the staff, behind the counter there are usually 3 staff, one on the till and 2 doing drinks etc. The problem being they talk too much to each other & service comes to a standstill !!!

20 minutes to toast a tea cake, dirty cutlery. Won’t bother coming back when there a decent Costa at Next.

Service very very slow, though food good as always. Tables left dirty and not cleared , took asking three times for this to be cleared.not good 😱😱

I shop at Aintree M&S quite a lot and I often go into the cafe for coffee or a bite to eat over a number of years the cafe has gone down with the service Not enough staff on the drinks tea coffee etc which is why the queue builds up Often if you order food your are waiting quite a long time Also you wait for the tables to be cleared such a long time I love shopping at M&S but if you go to Southport M&S cafe the service is excellent the reason being you need more staff it’s not rocket science it’s letting the store down because the staff are excellent and the service is excellent just sort the cafe out and get more staff and hey presto you’ve got a winner

Had a full English breakfast here recently it was so lovely that I also had a cream scone afterwards! The food was so nice and the service was also fantastic. I would definitely recommend this cafe.

I came here with my extended family as we were in the area shopping. We found a table and two of the party went to order. We received our hot drinks immediately and was given a number to place on your table to await the hot food. Normally the food comes out reasonably quickly and is hot and tasty. Sadly on this visit it was over 30 mins wait for the food to arrive and other customers who had ordered after us received third food prior to ours. We had only ordered simple and quick food which were some toasted teacakes and a bowl of soup and the food was at best like warm when it arrived. We mentioned it to the staff who delivered it and they offered to reheat but a reheated teacake doesn’t sound appertaining to me. We were very disappointed and to be honest would think again if the coffee shop was busy at visiting. It use to be excellent and the only place we would go.

Decided to call in here for breakfast instead of Costa. Sorry we did we ordered 2 all day breakfasts at £7.95 and 2 teas. Tea was just about drinkable at luke warm temperture and breakfast when it arrived was terrible and stone cold. Wasnt worth complaining as it didnt look like anyone wanted to be there !!

Visited today , disappointed as not like other M&S; cafes , drinks were cold , one sausage on an awful sandwich butter just slapped on in the middle of sandwich Fridge not working so no food on display really disappointed

Visit regularly. Called in for coffee last week. Asked for skinny cappuchino. Told they had run out of skimmed milk- again!!!! Asked why they couldnt get skimmed milk from the food hall. Told it was company policy?????

Visit other m & s cafes so was disappointed when I visited this one. Rubbish all over floor, napkins , table talkers ,food. We waited twice as long for food as we were warned. The staff were nice but obviously overstretched. They were struggling to clear tables.We had to clear our own . The food was mediocre.

Can get extremely crowded but if you time it right there will usually be an empty table or two. The same food and drinks as all M and S cafes.

I have visited here a few times when out shopping. The place is hidden away on the 1st Floor bur can get busy at certain times. The coffee is great, not all froth like you get at other coffee shops...

After going around the shops this is a good place to recharge your batteries. It is small so can be hard to get seated at busy times but the food is nice and worth trying to get a seat

Took my elderly mum for lunch as we quite often do, however on this I casein I have to say it was so disappointing, customers are greeted by a member of friendly staff , but not today Mir did we receive the friendly customer service that we usually receive. I didn't recognise any of the staff members so maybe they were all new to the job , but the doesn't excuse the rudeness and lack of knowledge by some of the staff, one staff member was actually shouting at the other staff member from across the cafe floor to the counter. I felt so uncomfortable that we left without finishing our food or drink

This cafe can get quite busy and sometimes you have to wait for a table. It has a relaxed atmosphere, is usually very clean with helpful staff. There isn't a huge choice on the menu but enough for lunch or a quick snack. I tend to meet friends here as we travel and meet in the middle so it is a great location for us. You also have the benefit of it being in the middle of a retail park within a Marks & Spencer store so there is plenty of free parking available.

My sister and I call in for a spot of lunch whilst shopping. The staff are friendly. Food is pleasant and reasonably priced

Its M&S; it service M&S; food which is mainly of and fairly standard, I visit a couple of times a week. Be warned it can get very very busy! you may have to wait for a seat, really needs to be bigger but hey cant have everything.

5 dry adults walked into cafe for much needed coffee break from shopping.. When going into the restaurant area we was welcome by the most lovely lady.. We told her we needed a table for 5 and she sprung into action straight away .. She cleaned the tables down and sat us down what a star Mable is a complete credit to M&S..; The staff on the drinks area was lovely making talk with all customers we payed £13.85 for two large coffee one hot chocolate and two medium coffees not a bad price... When leaving restaurant Mable again smiled and said a lovely warm good bye... I really hope the management see this comment and give Mable some well deserved credit back... Life is hard at times but people like Mable light up a very dull day thanku Mable you are a credit to yourself x
