Marks & Spencer Cafe in Halton

Track and trace not being checked by staff, sloppy service on the counter and most of the staff not wearing face coverings, sugar and condiments out for people to handle, only went in for a coffee was going to have something to eat but thought better of it. There was also a woman there with two children and they were running around between tables which was annoying but I felt the staff should have intervened given the covid situation staff should have been more responsible and should have asked the child's mother to get them to sit down instead a member of staff was chatting and seemed ok with the situation. Won't be going in again no matter who thirsty I am.

Have attended here several times living local & nipped in for a quick lunch. Today I was very disappointed. I got shouted at for serving my own slice of cake as the signage was obstructed & hadn’t seen it. My sandwich & said piece of cake were not fresh at all. The sales assistant was rude & unhelpful. Whilst wearing my mask & sticking social distance was shocked to find a member of staff with her mask under her chin whilst flicking her hair & playing with it behind the counter whilst chatting to other member of staff. Completely disappointed in the cafe today & has definitely put me off returning.

Had coffee here this morning. All fine with track and trace and mask wearing but Lauren behind counter making all the drinks kept flicking back her outgrown fringe behind her ear. Not hygienic in catering service with or without a pandemic. Get a cap on or clip it back, basic rule?

We visited this cafe shortly after it reopened after lockdown. We had expected it to be spotlessly clean and following the Covid safety guidelines. Sadly this was not the case. We had to find the sanitizer and clean our own table and move someone else's dirty dishes. Not many people were in there and I'm not surprised. There were dirty dishes on other tables that were still there when we left an hour later. No details were taken for track and trace either. Apparently they are not legally obliged to do this but maybe ethically it might be a good idea.

The last 2 times we have been they have had no eggs (shop attached to it sells them) this limits the breakfast menu which is already very limited. Was advised they could do Salmon with the toast but would have to charge for the scrambled eggs despite not having any.Toasties very overpriced compared to other cafes and always very little staff on.Think I will be sticking with Tesco at least they have what’s on the menu available.

Went here yesterday with family. Had to queue up to order for over 20mins. Only one person serving. Tables not cleared so had to do it ourselves. Food and coffees were ok. Ordered a further pizza for my daughter and had to chase kitchen for it after 15mins ! Need more staff.

Very good staff, very clean, food hot. Good service which you expect from M&S, but this cafe goes one better than other M&S cafes.

Very helpful staff who went out of their way to serve and assist me. Very tasty scone and hot chocolate. Clean tables and surroundings.

Do most of our food shopping in MS for good quality products, this also goes for the lovely snacks and coffee served by wonderful staff in the widnes venue. Please is very clean and tidy always welcoming.

my recent experience was via the internet,. looking at suits shoes and jackets etc theres a large choice of goods and varied prices to suit everyones needs

Popped in for a quick lunch whilst spending a few days in the area. Chose here as you always know what you are getting at M & S and toilets etc are clean and accessible.Lovely toasted sandwich and hot cuppa all served with a smile.

I visit this café at least once a week when I am in Widnes doing shopping. The food is of good quality but the service is dreadful. They have 2 coffee machines but Ive only ever seen one being used when there's a long queue. They seem to be short of staff too, even at busy periods. The cakes, scones etc. are quite expensive and the portions are small. M & S need to up their game. We ordered 3 teacakes last week and waited 20 mins for them to arrive. The girl brought one portion of butter and when I asked for another I got a very negative look

Called on a Tuesday lunch time they were not overly busy but no one was clearing the tables so it was a difficult to find a table unless you moved things. The table we eventually got was very sticky and we had to clean it ourselves. Food was delivered quickly and was tastey though I would have expected a small salad with the toastie considering the price. Keeping the place cleared and the tables clean would improve things greatly

Our regular place to have dinner... Always busy so sometimes you have to wait for a table.. But worth the wait.. Friendly staff... Good food... Freshly brewed coffee

Food quality is good and surroundings are pleasant. But the prices are very high and there are so many outlets in widnes at much more reasonable prices

We visited this restaurant on Saturday at 9.45am and ordered the all day breakfast to be told there was none , the order hadn’t arrived. So we had sausage baps which were obviously microwaved they didn’t have a nice taste. My husband said his coffee was not as good as other m & s cafes. Standards have obviously dropped. The staff were not particularly bothered felt as though you were an inconvenience to them .will not go here again. Then we went in the food hall and they had plenty of breakfast items.

Since M & S Warrington recently closed we find ourselves visiting Widnes more often, the cafe serves the same food as the others, we have never had a problem, We also visit M & S Gemini, but although Widnes does not have the extensive variety of clothes etc, it's a welcome change. There are lots of other shops nearby and on a rainy day you can stay under cover to visit all, with free parking.

We visited at lunchtime and the cafe and bought coffees and a toasted sandwich. Due to it being lunchtime it was busy though there was only one person on the till and another doing coffee . Probably could have had both tills on as I queued for nearly ten minutes waiting to pay. Then had to wait for nearly ten minutes for the sandwich to be toasted.

have a toastie or bacon roll here once a week as everything is microwaved almost impossible for a new "chief " to change the quality so never disappointed

Great shop no issues = shelves stocked and staff offer great service - well worth a visit and no pressure selling of bank accounts either so well worth going

Think the price they charge for their toasties should include some salad garnish as most other cafes do, or at least ask if you would like any, helping to promote healthy eating is a good thing and makes a toastie much more appetizing...

The afternoon tea is seriously good, good size helpings of everything and the staff are very friendly. Will be eating there again.

Visited on a saturday afternoon to a busy cafe. We completely missed the fact they have a great afternoon tea offering and spent almost the same on two cups of coffee and two cakes. We queued a lot longer than we should of for coffee- and did not form the cafeteria style and wait for our coffee to be handed to us, instead we believed that they would let us know when they were ready and we would collect- which was a mistake because 20 minutes later we had to ask for our coffees and we were told off by the young inexperienced 'barista' that we should not of left the cue. I dont like being told off at the best of times, let alone by someone who needs more organisational skills in the workplace. Anyway its a nice easy going cafe- just a pity about the service.

We visit here on a regular basis usually when we have been to the Reel Cinema. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the Food and Wines are of a very high standard, we picked up some lovely sea food and some £8.50 wines at the price of two for £12
