The food is always of a high standard but the service is chaotic! The cafe is usually busy but often appears understaffed. Usually one person taking orders and another making drinks but sometimes one person doing everything. Often difficult to find a cleared table to sit and then you wait for anything that needs heating or cooking. One person waiting tables can spend valuable time wandering the floor looking for a designated number to deliver the prepared food. Then they return to the kitchen to repeat the activity and if sauce is required then further delays ensue. Staff are helpful and friendly difficult to say whether this cafe is understaffed or mismanaged.

We popped in to M&S Cafe whilst shopping at Silverlink, only to find long queues, horrendous prices and very, very average food. We probably waited a good 25 - 30 minutes for our food and expected much better quality, normally M&S food is really tasty however, this was the most bland, average food we have had in a long while. Had to feel sorry for the staff as they were run off their feet and clearly understaffed for a Saturday.Sadly, we won't return or recommend to others.

I chose a breakfast bun, new addition, egg and mushroom. It was the worst thing I’ve tasted my life. Spoonful of scrambled egg, spicy, which it failed to mention. Over microwaved bun which was tough to eat. Yuk disgusting. I really should have complained but the queue was so bad due to broken down coffee machine I couldn’t waste anymore time in that cafe

Complete waste of time and money. If you like undercooked watery mushrooms and egg shell in your scrambled eggs then this is the place for you. not just any breakfast it’s an M&S breakfast complete disaster

I often call into this coffee shop & frequently have coffee, toast & marmalade for breakfast here. It is usually very good with nice bread & decent coffee. Today however was thin, cheap, blotting paper bread - it costs 60p extra for the small jar of marmalade which I don't normally mind but thought today was a complete rip off.Not happy at all with it - M & S should be ashamed to serve this

Used cups and plates lying all over, dirty unswept floors on each occasion I’ve ventured in, despite plenty of staff, probably because they’re too busy yapping to bother with any clearing up. I asked if I could have a mug with my tea instead of a teacup and the rudest assistants I’ve had the misfortune to come across told me in no uncertain terms that I couldn’t. Don’t bother with the place, head over to Costa instead where it’s clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

To be honest it was a busy Saturday afternoon but this should be' catered ' for. Tables uncleared. Had to ask for cheese scones to be replenished . Dirty floors and took ages for coffee to be prepared. After all that ,coffee just okay and cheese scones just about edible . Not a relaxing atmosphere. Only place on Silverlink for refreshments apart from restaurants .

It started badly with only one assistant taking orders, making coffee and taking money. The coffee and food were both great eventually, but there were only two tables that were not covered in dirty crockery. The girl who was doing her best said that the management had passed through earlier and made no comments about the tables.Fortunately I met three of the management staff talking at the bottom of the escalator and pointed out the sate of the place. I took a video, but this site apparently does not accept them. Pity.

Oh my my, have visited this coffee shop a few times and as a coeliac disease sufferer I have never had a lot of choice but on Friday I was gob smacked when there was no gluten free snacks available. I asked a lady filling up the sandwiches if she had any gluten free or a gluten free scone to which she said no. She then said I could go down stairs and get something from the shop and eat it with my coffee. UH, which would be cold by the time I get back. When I was getting my coffee she came over again and said would you like me to go down and get you something. I politely refused not wanting any attention brought to myself. Come on M&S you can do better than this.

Modest size store but canny selection. The friendly staff and good service in the Café and the food hall help make up for the shortfall in the clobber department, can't have everything

OK for coffee & cake or a jacket potato but don't look for any kind of 3 course meal ! service is VERY slow and you are likely to have finished your drink before your meal arrives !

It's a struggle to get to this store at the moment because of all the development work being carried out near the Tyne Tunnels. It is very worth it when you arrive. Plenty of big named stores all around. MandS? brilliant. All you want is bags of money. The Cafe upstairs is a very busy place to meet and eat. Wonderful food. Good, busy staff. Very clean and efficiently run.

Went for coffee last week and discovered that this cafe had closed down. It must have closed within the last few weeks. Always thought that it was quite popular.

They’re charged me £18 for a large fish and chips, it was possible one of the smallest fish and chips iv ever had. I was still hungry after it, chips were nice, but I won’t be going back. I understand why people go to the willow instead, you pay for the quality & quantity.

Had a couple of pizza and one beer and one zero alcohol beer. Bill came to £35 which I thought was expensive as the drinks were £12.50. Pizza were average but the service food. Too expensive for me so won’t be rushing back.

Queue out the door, waited over 40mins to be served only to be told no cheese toasties because they havnt got allergies sign up for them; I don't have allergies but still wouldn't serve me, prices have almost trebled, a scone with butter £3.50, a pasty £5.50, ordinary bread sandwiches 4.50/5.50, small chocolate éclairs £3.50, can of £2.25 Too slow and very expensive for what you get, gone downhill alot.

You are locked in after 21.30 and have a half mile walk to get back to thd high street because they can't control there own premises, not a good way to treat there customers.
