Staff were amazing very kind. Food was lovely, good for drinks food. I had lovely hot meal loved it will come again soon thanks

Went for afternoon tea. Pots of tea arrived straight away but was nearly cold by the time the rest arrived. No classic sandwiches or fruit scone available even though we arrived at the start for afternoon tea. 4 minute sandwiches a plain scone with tasteless jam and very small pot of cream 2 strawberries cut up one macaroon and one minute iced bun Not worth the money and wouldn't recommend.

Slow, slow, very very slow! Waited ages in the queue then had to wait 40 mins for a bacon roll. Tea was cold by the time it arrived. Streaky, greasy bacon so left most of it. Not worth the price or the wait. Never again.

While this cafe appears to be clean and staff are polite. There is a clear lack of management to ensure the smooth running of the cafe. I waited nearly 15 minutes for a sandwich to be toasted. My cuppa tea was getting cold. It wasn’t a big deal, however I do feel I could have still waited if I didn’t ask. Another person at the table feels the service has been very poor for sometime, she told me about her past experiences here too. Also an observation for older people - it isn’t user friendly if less abled people have to queue up to order. Plus there never seems to be an urgency from the staff serving.

Queued for a very long time to be met with an extremely grumpy young man named Toby. Huffing and puffing and gunting at us when we asked for a plate for the scone. He then spilt the pot of tea all over the tray and the cookies and it was dripping down the side of the counter. When we asked him for some tissues or a cloth to clean it up he said there wasn’t any and tough luck. When we pointed out the roll of blue paper behind him he huffed away and went to complain to his colleague on the other till. The other members of staff on the other tills seemed to be lovely and chirpy and serving the other customers very well. Toby did not want to be there and he’s not in the right job. We were pleasant customers, only asked for a plate and some tissues to clean up his mess. Really disappointed.

Had to wait two long , queuing up !!! Got to the till to order , they didn’t seem to no what they were doing , ordered a coffee and a tea and bought a cake , we paid then asked was there any milk for the tea? He scattered around found a little pot and put some milk in !! It looked like it was for sauce no pouring lip on it !!! Got to our table no knife or spoons, went back to the counter was given a dirty knife and no spoons just told there were wooden sticks!!! Absolutely shocking M&S has totally gone down !! Rubbish service, there are a lot better places to go , won’t be ever going again

Service absolutely terrible. Waited over 30 mins for food after being seated with hot drinks for 2 people. Food finally arrived which poached eggs that were cold other order was completely wrong. All our order was sent back due to this. Waited again to be served with only one person order so I had to wait another 10 mins for my order. Having waited over 40 mins my second poached egg, advocardo arrived but again eggs were cold. The staff did not seem to care what so ever as if it's normal to get cold food, there was no urgency to our concerns. Very poor customer service, food tasteless and cold and definitely not value for money. Totally disappointing would definitely not return !

Disgusting food served cold after a wait of almost 45 minutes! Was offered a replacement but with another long wait I declined so offered a hot drink instead. Hardly fair. I remember the days when m & s actually valued its customers. Will never set foot in here again - why would I with so many other places to choose from in Manchester that actually give a damn !! Do yourselves a favour and go somewhere else.

Bought the smashed avocado with poach eggs on toast. The avocado was mixed with fresh coriander which is something I cannot eat 😫. Had to return it. No mention of coriander on the board menu. WHY

We went to the M&S cafe as a family for breakfast, you queue and pay at the counter and the food is brought to your table, the products were great as you expect from M&S but my poached eggs were hard boiled (see photo) and the hash brown soggy and cold in the middle, the tea was great, served in a proper pot. And the restaurant was clean, but tables could be cleared and cleaned quicker, sachets of sauce and condiments, which were tricky and a bit of a bother to open. Not toilets situated near the cafe, you had to go down two floors through the whole store, if you need the bathroom.

It is very comfortable and good quality and very popular but spoiled by too few staff leading to long queues. It’s a shame but it seems to the norm nowadays with the bigger companies

We went for afternoon cream tea which was excellent. My only complaint was that after we sat down it seems that they forgot about us. Eventually however we got the tea which was very good. Great scones and cream. Nice to be served tea in real, individual tea pots.

This is the worst M&S cafe I have used it’s a Saturday afternoon and no hot food stuff totally apathetic and not interested and the cafe looks awful reminds me of a school dining room

I have just waited in M& S cafe in centre of Manchester for 20 mins to get a coffee. It does seem somewhat chaotic and lacking in management oversight. It’s the start of the Easter holidays and surely an increase in customers could have been anticipated. I’m sure the staff are doing the best they can, but more are needed and better smart working are needed. It all feels a bit shambolic. Such a shame as the setting itself is fabulous.

Went for a coffee and teacake while.my wife had eyes tested. 20 minutes later a barely warm teacake with a cold knob of butter that wouldn't spread. Won't come again

You loose the will to live waiting and waiting in the queue at m&s cafe in Manchester store. They are sooooooooooooo slow. They never have enough staff on the front serving desk. The whole operation is very badly designed and set up.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime and found it too busy, the food was ok and reasonably priced. The chairs and tables seem crammed in and hard to walk through. We struggled to find a table so dread to think what a weekend would be...

Regularly go into Manchester to the theatre and always go to M & S cafe for coffee and toast. Having got a table, although dark and gloomy, queued to be told they don't do toast anymore after a certain time so could only have coffee. We got coffees which weren't very hot by the time I got back to the table. Sorry M & S but you have lost a regular customer as across the road is Costa coffee who do serve toast and decent coffee!

Called in whilst in Manchester earlier today expecting to have either a nice piece of cake or an sandwich, but what a disaster it turned out to be.....I have Coeliac disease so consequently require gluten free products. Whilst I don't expect there to be an extensive range of products for people like myself, I do however expect there to be something provided. On viewing the excellent range of cakes none of them appeared to be gluten free, so I decided to ask the member of staff manning the till what they had that they could offer me. The answer was not what I expected it to be as she happily replied "We don't do gluten free cakes, just small snack bars" I then asked about the sandwiches, but got yet another negative answer as follows "There may be the odd one but you'll have to look yourself" Well that told me that they couldn't care less about people who through no fault of their own have a problem with standard food fare. Not the staffs fault though, but the management at board level.

Sadly have to agree with all other reviews! Queuing system has not been thought out properly, manipulating lengthwise trays & fellow queuing customers is an accident waiting to happen! Tables are cluttered and seemingly not enough staff to clean. It looks like you are expected to return own pots to tray racks positioned throughout cafe - again reminiscent of school canteen! My toasted teacake although quickly delivered was cold therefore I can only assume it was prepared for someone else or in advance of an order and not kept warm. Another big bone of contention for customers I overheard talking, was the toilets being a floor down - not good for elderly & customers with young families! Sorry M & S this is not just a cafe it is another M&S; disappointment.

Although the food was up to standard, the new design of the restaurant isnt. I actually felt like I was queuing for a school dinner. There were 3 or 4 lines leading up to a single till point. Once at the till point, you ordered a drink and if required a hot meal. You were then required to move your tray over lengthwise while the next person in the queue put their tray next to yours. It proved a tad awkward then removing your tray with hot drink from the small counter due to the trays lengthwise position. You then had to negotiate through all the lines of waiting customers to get to a table. Obviously this hasnt been thought through carefully

It was soon after midday on a busy Wednesday,I ordered a jacket spud with cheese,it had to have been warmed up from the day before,rock hard inedible skin,no butter and barely warm, the leaves described as salad looked like they were right out of the garden.I also felt very sorry for elderly customers on their own trying to find a seat there's no space to put your shopping either,all in all a bad experience which won't be repeated...By the way some feedback on all the complaints and what you intend to do about it would be great.....

Not sure who ‘redesigned’ the cafe, but there was obviously little thought given to practicality.

A pleasant half hour in m&s; cafe before doing some shopping was something to look forward to...not any more.Perhaps the designer of new cafe also sources many of the clothes.I used to think m&s; would learn from mistakes, not any more.

Called in for breakfast with the family at 10am. Hard to find a clean table witout dirty pots on, eventually did. Went to order beeakfast, no bacon decided just to have Tea and T Cakes, no TSpoons available used soup spoons instead. This is not any cafe this is M&S; the worst cafe in Manchester

I don't know how much the 'new ' cafe has cost Marks and Spencer to set up but they needn't have bothered. As other people have said - it is dark and gloomy compared to the one it has replaced which was bright and airy. The toilets being downstairs is also not practical especially if you have young children or babies - are you supposed to lug everything downstairs in the middle of your meal ? I have known for a long time Marks have abandoned their core market but this cafe 'makeover ' is the final straw for me.

Went into new design Restaurant for quick scones and cups of tea as we usually do when shopping in Manchester. Oh what a disappointment with the new design of the Cafe. Too crowded and felt very closed in. The new design has lost the open and more airey aspect of the old design cafe, considering its situation overlooking Market Street/St.Annes Square, there are hardly any views anymore. What it will be like in Summer, I don’t know! It is very dark and confined feeling. Scones were like Rock Cakes by the way. They are usually very good. Two disappointed customers!!

They have spent a lot of money moving this restaurant up to the second floor and giving it a complete refurbishment, or to be precise its a new restaurant and its a disaster. It is like eating in a converted warehouse. The menu has not changed, the service is slow, there seems to be a consistent shortage of cups, teapots etc and overall its dark and dowdy. By the way, if you need the toilet you have to go downstairs to where the old restaurant used to be. Its not a restaurant, its a cafe and a worse one than it has replaced.

My elderly mother (80yr old) visited new style cafe. Very disappointed following the refurbishment. Very small area at till. No where to hold the tray whilst queuing. Very difficult for elderly person. She used to enjoy her weekly trip to M&S;, but now looking to go to costa. Worse time of year for refurb .

I can only assume that, in the spirit of community involvement, M&S; entrusted the design of the new cafe to the reception class at the local primary school. The loft style open roof space is now old hat but the biggest problem is the new till/servery area. It just doesn’t work!!

Visité aquí ayer. Se ve muy bien. Ha tenido un lavado de cara masivo y ahora es muy moderno y de aspecto moderno.

No sé si es o no una característica de Marks and Spencer Cafes o no, pero el servicio aquí es excepcionalmente lento. Las órdenes simples toman una edad, y por el hecho de que estábamos cansados y queríamos sentarnos, nos habríamos ido a otro lado.

Staff were very friendly, but it is just a normal, M & S cafe, w which is what you sometimes need, for a cup of tea, during a shopping trip

First of all surprised that there were not many hot meals on the menu like in other branches. Our jacket potatoes were lukewarm, not at all enjoyable. One half of my potato was hard. Expensive for what we had. The side salad was delicious. One of our drinks was so full it ran over into the saucer but no offer to wipe it up.

I love Mark’s and Spencer’s cake and always stop in on a shopping trip. Unlike the customers below I’ve noticed that popping a mini shortbread on the side of a coffee is automatic in Market Street’s cafe Manchester- with one exception. You don’t get a biscuit if you’ve ordered cake. So you’re punished for spending more money and rewarded for spending less. With that as a business model no wonder it’s a struggling business.

This canteen style cafe serves a great purpose of being a refreshment in between shopping. I’ve just been in with a client for a quick lunch and we both had the tomato and basil soup which was lovely, really great flavour. We had a pot of tea and a cake. Great little stop off. Clean, tidy and good service.

After busy time shopping called here for a drink 1 got a table while others queued This seemed to take a while ,fairly slow on tills U don’t get a biscuit unless u ask for it even though a huge box next to the till

Chose a very busy period at lunchtime. The staff obviously under pressure. However, once ordered the lunch took a little longer than you would like.

We were shopping and decided to have a bite to eat here at M&S; restaurant. We each had the chicken and leek pie and it was very good. It was served with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy. We felt that it hit the spot.

It was busy but we waited patiently over half hour for our food. When it did arrive mushy peas looked like they had been served before. We did complain and got a new little bowl. Daughter had a raisin hidden under her cheese toastie. Not impressed , I go to the Bolton and Horwich stores all the time which are better run especially Horwich with the new man who is so polite and finds a seat for you. I don’t think I’ll be going into the Manchester store anytime soon.

Este es un café concurrido, entiendo que el personal puede estar bajo una inmensa presión, pero la joven que trabajó hoy a las 11. A las 30 a. M. Fue muy lento y no paraba de dejarla hasta el final. Vi como la señora mayor del otro lado estaba sirviendo a la gente mucho más rápido, parecía que la joven no podía ser molestada. El café en sí es espacioso y está bien situado, ya que ofrece una buena vista de la calle del mercado. Tuve un champiñón y una tostada ecológica que estaba delicioso. Los pasteles se ven deliciosos, pero los cubiertos eran absolutamente desagradables, llenos de comida seca. Este lugar podría ser mejor si se prestara atención a los detalles.

Whilst out with a friend decided to have breakfast at M&S bury never again the food came immediately which made us suspicious as it could not have been cooked that quickly the bacon eggs etc were cold and rather dried up presumably from sitting too long on a hot plate the.worst breakfast ever from a well known cafe with a reputation to maintain

I was a bit disappointed, whilst clean and the system of electronic tags to get your food to the table is efficient the entrance lacks clear instructions on how to order food as there is what looks like a hot counter and separate tills. Just a simple sign would help the uninitiated. Food was good but the place feels a bit crowded and cramped. Cutlery was also sadly lacking so had to ask for some

Visited M&S; Handforth Dean this afternoon, it is so bad , dirty untidy disinterested staff , expensive!! Unbelievably poor! Won’t revisit!!

Popped in for drinks. Initial impression well laid out pleasant views and clean. Its a self service arrangement - when we popped in there were no queues. Overall one of the better M and S cafes with a nice vibe.

No matter when you go there is always a queue and one drink station not in use. So annoying and now you don't get the tiny biscuit unless you ask !!! Ridiculous system as some get one and others grumbling as they don't know they have to ask it has never been announced just slipped in. Little selection of sandwiches now but staff remain helpful despite being under pressure

I was expecting "Beer battered fish" as was advertised, at £8.50. It turned out to be a thin breadcrumbed fish.I dont think the chips had seen any oil at all.I was so hungry I did eat most of it,before getting the attention of the manager. He offered me another meal but I had had enough. He said he would pass my comments on to the kitchen. i will not be eating there again.

Day out in Manchester, thought will have an all-day breakfast at 12.15 before midday rush. When bought to table the only thing even warm was the middle of the tomatoes.... good food ruined.

Service was very slow, kept waiting for 20 mins in a queue of 5 people with my Grandmother she couldn't stand up anymore, never even offered to bring drinks over, will not be going again

The cafe was very busy when we were there and there was quite a queue.we had a light lunch which was not long in coming and it was quite tasty.The staff were most helpful and friendly.

Fuimos a la cafetería antes de ir a una actuación matinal en la casa de la Opera. Pedimos a la cerveza con patatas fritas y guisantes bacalao blanda y tomó nuestros asientos, no tuvimos que esperar mucho para que llegue nuestra comida. Estaba muy bien presentada y el servicio era excelente. Era muy sabrosa posiblemente la única pega es que algunas de las fichas no eran bur y porciones thr eran quote pequeño. Went into the restaurant after the theatre for a bite to eat. It was around 5-30 pm so wasn't very busy. As always the standard of food in Marks and Spencer is very good.

M&S; cafés siempre son buenas, pero cuando voy a la tienda de Manchester siempre hay una cola en la cultive, donde una persona cultive y alguien detrás no las bebidas. We struggled to find a clean table. There were lots of customers sat at tables waiting for their friends who were queuing up to buy drinks. Eventually we gave up and left our drinks, not very good at all, a complete waste of money.

Been here a few time for lunch as a handy pit stop between shopping. Plenty of choice for veggies and kids and plenty of seating. Does get very busy at lunchtimes.

What is it about Marks and Spencer's the service is always so slow but once you get your food it's fantastic both in taste and value and the staff are always so friendly in a very clean environment

Cuando estamos en Manchester siempre visitar el café ya que nunca nos ha decepcionado. Esta vez optamos por el desayuno y, de nuevo, estuvo a la altura del nivel que se espera. El personal es siempre amable y complaciente y esperamos que nuestra próxima visita alrededor de Navidad.

Detenido en aquí para bebidas y pasteles a la hora del almuerzo. Aunque estaba ocupado y había colas para pagar en la cultive, nos sirvieron bastante rápidamente. Las bebidas y los pasteles eran muy buenas, lo que me esperaría de M&S.; En general, una agradable y pequeña cafetería para tomar una parada 'hoyo' de las tiendas.

En M&S; para el almuerzo con un amigo, mientras que fuera de compras. Cambien el menú y es realmente bueno. Las opciones son sabrosos y saludables. Ambos tuvimos un Delicioso puré de aguacate en tostadas marrones para bajo 4 libras cada uno. La calidad del pan y aguacate era excelente. El café es bueno y luego nos obsequiábamos en pasteles eccles que estaban crujientes y completamente butterfly y preciosa. Gracias M&S;!

The afternoon tea offered us delicate finger sandwiches and sweet macaroons. The scone were very nice but it could have been warm. I particularly liked the nice atmosphere. My friend and I both had a great time. Thanks M

Love the new dishes, we tried the courgetti and it was tasty. Always good food, good coffee. And not too expensive. The emmental and mushroom sandwich is my fave. Afternoon tea is far better than some hotels, and you have views of Market Street.

Called in for a coffee & cake on Saturday. I think this multinational has not got it right yet. 3 lines of people queuing for food orders and drinks about, 10 or 12 people in each queue. Very busy in this area with people trying to get out of the cafe, others trying to get in to grab a spare seat while friends give their order, supplies being delivered on trolleys, staff pushing past and other people trying to get through to the loos. Very busy and congested, it is the same in my local M & S but as it is a smaller store & cafe, just as bad. Not a lot of fun when all we wanted is a coffee. Why does it take so long to make a cup of coffee in these large outlets, all these modern expensive machines take ages and the drinks are no better than using a bit of "instant" coffee, just a bunch more expensive.

El hotel l me encanta el Leek y pollo estofado con puré de patatas y salsa. Tienes que llamar cuando pasando si que hay en el menú, pero tiende a ser una cosa de invierno. Buena comida simples que también se pueden comprar en los estantes. Si algo está mal que cambiará enseguida. Limpio y bien resuelto mesas

I've never been in the Café before. Felt the food was overpriced for what it was. The service clearing tables was terrible. There were lots of empty tables for the people waiting but they were not cleared quickly enough. Rather disappointing.
