Marks and Spencer Cafeteria in Highland

I had a baked potato with tuna(good) and salad (good)The potato itself had barely been warmed up; some parts of itwere at room temerature.When I asked for extra salt and pepper I was given by a surly waiter one tiny portion of each.I shan't go here again.

As you would expect the M&S cafeteria food is first class and reasonably priced. The big draw back is its noisy and over crowded with too many table crammed in to the spaces.

New lay out not sure if its better or not. Great coffee and biscuit, love the toasties. Tables are mostly cleared quite quickly so seats are available.

We visited the cafe to meet friends, the drinks were piping hot and the cakes were delicious. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, however we had a hard time trying to have a conversation due to the noise that the coffee machines were making both during and in between being used!.

Lo que le ha pasado a este café. Solía ser un buen lugar para un bocado rápido. Hoy visitamos y fue terrible. Sucio, piso lleno de vasos, papel, etc. Mesa tambaleante. Las tablas no se borraron y las que sí se habían borrado. El servicio es extremadamente lento y ni siquiera se le da suficiente leche para dos tazas de té. Realmente decepcionante, la gerencia debe analizarlo detenidamente y limpiarlo.

Very short staffed, I specifically asked the woman at the till for no dressing on my baked potato, it came served with dressing. By the time I had looked at my plate to complain to the waitress she had already dashed across the room. Went to get cutlery for my meal and there were no knives. Was charged 8.40 for a baked potato with cheese and tuna and a bottle of water. Baked potato was poor quality and tasted microwaved. Emnviroment is not tidy and very messy. Never coming back again. I could of probably went to a much better restaraunt elsewhere for that ridicilous price. My table also had coffee stains all over it and the waitress just ignored that when she came over to give me my plate of food. Won't be coming back again.

We decided to try this place, and were glad we did. Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Friendly staff, good service, chilled atmosphere.

Mi queja no es sobre la comida, sino el servicio extremadamente pobre y lento, una y otra vez. Parecen estar dirigiendo un esqueleto de personal, dos personas de aspecto acosado detrás de las cajas que también tienen que preparar las bebidas. El resultado son colas muy largas y lentas. He tratado de restablecer mis viejas lealtades hacia este café de M&S, pero después de hoy voy a dejarlo. ¡La gente sentada a mi lado en el café tenía exactamente la misma queja! Lástima

Ordered and paid for Salmon,scrambled egg and toast. Over cooked egg and half cooked toast arrived after a bit of a wait. Told they had no salmon but would go down to food dept and get some. Started to eat egg, hard and almost cold. Eventually salmon arrived. Just left it as everything else was stone cold. Why did they take off cream cheese salmon Bagal !! It was less trouble for them and nothing to go cold.. very shoddy.

I ordered the fish finger sandwich,and was somewhat disappointed to receive a rather sad looking plateful of food.

Entering you are confronted with a central island solely for cakes. Either side.of this has aisles with a chill cabinet and drinks then a divider for two queues for coffee tea soup servers. If you can't see what you want on one side you have to get past others to see the chill cabinet on the other side. This is not progress especially at busy periods. More of an assault course. Food no complaints and young staff pleasant. I suggest going back to the drawing board with this layout.

Clean with many tables, usually full, Good cup of coffee. Good for a light snack during the day. Plenty staff to cope with orders.

We visited on Christmas Eve and again on the 27 th of December because of the convenient location but otherwise this cafe has absolutely nothing to recommend it. The atmosphere was decidedly un-festive and the staff who served us were glum (saw other staff smiling and interacting in a friendly manner but the young girl who served us had an expression that seemed to imply we were an unwelcome intrusion into her day). The lack of festive spirit extended to the missing Christmas biscuit with coffee which was always such a nice treat and the fact that staff guarded the sauce sachets in little dishes on the trays that they brought our food on but failed to offer customers .... it's a bit much to have to ask for sauce. But the most disappointing thing of all was the cafe environment itself . There were Christmas tree with no decorations or lights, nothing festive on the tables and no hint of the available Christmas decorations other than some bland bunting .... really M and S is that a way to promote what you have on offer. Perhaps it is a sign of a general malaise in the shop, I couldn't find a basket and when I went to the counter I was advised to go to the front door to get one .... how can they have no baskets at the the till points! The toasted sandwiches are delicious and the coffee is good too but bring your own spacesuit , you'll need it in such a thin atmosphere.

I visited on Xmas Eve. Their was just a small queue my side, unfortunately I picked the wrong side. It was painful to watch the girl making the drinks. I think she must have been on the go slow! Their was just a couple people in front of me. I waited over 15mins at least to get served! The other queue of people had been served very quickly! I honestly don't know how this girl could cope with a large queue! Oh dear glad I hadn't been in a hurry!

I went into the cafe this afternoon for a bowl of soup- I waited half an hour no sign of soup so went and cancelled my order! The cafe was total chaos most of the tables hadn’t been cleared and plenty of staff milling around the till area! Not sure what has happened as this used to be perfect for quick coffee etc!!

Went in for a quick meal and was not disappointed. Got a prepared mango crayfish and rice box for £5 while my partner got fish and chips that took a little bit longer to arrive. Staff was friendly and apologetic. Patrons (mostly elderly) are just as friendly.

We popped in for a pot of tea & a latte. The tea was served with no milk & the assistant started making my wife's drink then walked away leaving it not finished. Then started serving someone else & seemed to forget about our drink. Then the other assistant served someone else & tried to give us their drink instead. A few minutes later we got our drinks. I wouldn't mind if they were busy but it was early morning & they only had us & two other customers to serve & not all at once.

Had a very satisfying lunch , affordable and very friendly staff. Would try again for breakfast or a quick coffee.

Sadly had to cancel my reservation at The Mustard Seed due to arriving late. I was on a tight schedule so thought, can’t go wrong with M&S; cafe! Yes I could!

Standard no frills cafe. Tables and chairs remind you of the older style motorway stops. In need of updating. Somewhat overpriced for such a basic offering. Not a place to linger.

very nice clean cafe ,,staff helpful and chatty, self clearing not done by customers,then they complain about not cleared tables,, Food great choices, All in all very nice place to eat.

Waited ages to get served. Lots of young staff who appeared very disorganized. Food okay but expensive for what we got.

After a revamp the café seems brighter and more spacious. Menu slightly extended. Lots of nice sandwiches/toasties. Limited fillings for baked potatoes. We were interested to try some of the new choices. Disappointed that the chicken and bacon carbonara not available. It was very irritating that the assistant on the till had to dash off to the kitchen to check availability each time I enquired about a dish on the menu. Surely in this day and age it is possible to do this via the till/computer system? Had the fish and chips - excellent. Generous portion of fish, small portion of chips which were good although could have been cooked ever so slightly longer to be golden. Suspect there is pressure on the kitchen to get meals out as quickly as possible. Pleasant staff working well to clear tables efficiently.

Wanted a quick snack before leaving Inverness. Decided on rolls filled with Cumberland sausage, but rolls had to be heated before we could eat them as sausages were only partially cooked. Coffees were fine but have tasted better. Won't be back in a hurry

Very busy and noisy on day we visited. Seemed to be a lot of tables not cleared so hard to find a seat. Was a bit disappointed as M & S are usually very good. Coffee and cake up to the usual standards which was a bonus. Will visit again.

We visit here quite regularly, but popped in today for an early lunch as the kids were on school holidays and the food here is consistently good and the coffee is always lovely. I like the fact you can get all the menu at any time of the day, I’ve seen people having toastie at breakfast time, or for example, I had a bacon roll for my early lunch. The kids meals are the same as they offer in the food hall, mine had a mighty meaty pasta and the other had a pizza, it certainly hit the spot and as they have been previously and have the meals at home occasionally, I know it will all get eaten! My coffee was great as usual and the bacon roll is always particularly good. The toilets are not actually within the restaurant which really is a pain in the neck especially with the kids, as if they need to go, we literally have to pack everything up and go halfway throughout the store to go. Really not great, and as the staff are pretty on top of table clearing, I’d be scared my food would have disappeared unless I’d risked leaving something behind to show we weren’t gone. Just badly designed, but still, a great, consistent lunch!

We ate here twice during our visit to Inverness and were pleased on both occasions. Good quality food with no frills attached. You can't beat it. Loved the macaroni cheer and the chicken pie. It was also nice to have the choice of good fruit on hand and we enjoyed dessert of fresh mango.

Dissapointed with the cafe and toilets . Busy place but keep o top off cleaning up . Toilets filthy bins full .

Decided to call in whilst we were shopping in Inverness. Not overly impressed, the queue was very long and the service slow and the place was quite bland generally. We had coffee and scones and that was ok but pretty average. Not sure I would bother again.

This is the perfect stopping off point to recharge batteries after a bout of retail therapy.

Good selection of light meals, snacks, cakes, coffee and tea and comfortable airy seating. Well provisioned for families with young children including toys, colour-in sheets and crayons. There is also free wifi available.

This cafe is so convenient for shoppers. As you would expect the standard of food and service is of Marks and Spencer's high standard. The range of food is varied and the cafe is quite big. Great place to meet friends when shopping but it is noisy and usually very busy.

Good range of M&S; food, served quickly and politely by courteous staff. If you like M&S; food, this place can't be beaten. Great for solo travelers, families, couples and those with mobility challenges.

Decent prices and good coffee, whatever it is called these days! Good range of little biscuits to generous cake and sponge Efficient staff.

Popped in for afternoon coffee the other day..... scones were just cooling.... delicious and a lovely cup of coffee served by nice friendly staff

So glad we found the cafeteria at Marks and Spencer. Great food, lovely staff. We were there in the afternoon - always hungry and worn out from a lot of sight seeing. The jackets were amazing, salads great - I don't eat grains or sugar and had plenty of options. Excellent lattes and flat whites, too. After eating we would go downstairs to the food hall and get snacks for the following day. I love going to charming local places to dine, but when you just need to eat and don't want to figure out what might be good on the menu, M&S; is the place to go.

Went to the cafe on Saturday morning around 11am and was quite disappointed by the service. Queued for at least 10 minutes even though the place was not that busy and there were plenty of empty tables. I have been here over lunchtime when it's been much busier and the service was much quicker. However this is not my complaint! A lady in front of me seemed to be a little confused by the whole self service process and kept asking the very young girl who was serving her questions and once she placed her order and paid she moved to the end of the service area to wait for her hot drink. The young girl tried to tell her to wait for her drink however she moved out of the way and then the other assistant, Emma was quite rude to this (older) lady and demanded her to move back to her original place to collect her hot drink. This lady had a stick and clearly had some mobility issues. Emma did eventually pass the lady her hot drink but not before rolling her eyes and shaking her head. The treatment of this lady by an older member the M&S; team was quite disgusting and shameful.

Had a nice sit down with a cup off coffee, its hard if you are single as you need to be self service & with bags can be a handful. I felt safe leaving bags at table to go get served.

Yes, the upstairs cafeteria is good, but I went daily to the food hall on main floor. What lovely selections of take away salads, fruits, prepared sandwiches, smoked fish packages, pastries. All that's missing is a coffee machine or bar for a quick meal on the go. Jez! nothing like that in my local grocery store - how I'll miss M&S.; Fortunately, all over GB one can find M&S; shops, even the express market. With M&S; one never need spend funds on eating out or even cooking.

Was surprised to see the lengths some staff would go to helping those with mobility problems & elderly customers in this cafe.Often pop in for a bite when it's not too busy as they are understaffed - why add to the problem ! But overall a very good experience if you follow instructions & order your food at the till.Well done M&S; cafe, Inverness !

Have visited twice in the past few weeks and both times service has been dreadful. First time cafe was busy but queue took ages to move - counter staff were allowing customers to sign up for 2 for 1 hot drinks on their Sparks cards whilst just at the point of paying!! No apology to those waiting in queue. Visited again yesterday - one person in front of me in queue and it still took over 10 minutes to get served! 3 staff on, one making hot drinks, one on till who didn't know how to work it and one other just standing around. Having said all of the above coffee and pastry was excellent!

We often enjoy coffee and cake at M & S when travelling in the UK. Their cakes taste like they're home made and their coffee is decent, better than some we've had elsewhere. The Inverness Marks and Spencer met our expectations.

A lot of locals come here to escape the weather and times when you can't get a seat are predictable. Food selection is average, service is lacking of any real care and you'll have to be prepared to clear your own table as the over-stretched staff can't really keep up with the volume of customers. Over priced and under delivers for this once great high street store.

in the centre of Inverness as a welcome break between work or shopping sprees. The standard is what you expect of this brand and I was not disappointed. The place was immaculately clean and the staff were friendly. I had a light lunch and it was tasty.

We regularly have either lunch or coffee break here and it's always lovely. Anyone that like to complain about anything then go somewhere and pay more and be happy with it.

We love visiting Marks Spencer the shop is very clean and there is a great choice of cloths and sizes for all ages, we had our lunch and it was great and the coffee shop is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

If you enjoy the food for sale in the food hall, you're sure to enjoy food in this small restaurant. Good food served in a bright and busy restaurant, serving sandwiches, cakes, drinks and main meals. Always busy at the weekend.

I marked this café as average as that's all it can be. It serves very nice café food in a comfortable setting, it doesn't pretend to be anything else. I had a nice baked potato and a very nice cup of coffee.

Very handy as it was close to the hotel we were in. Great lunch, great selection and not to expensive.

My partner & I had a light lunch today - food usual good standard but a bit predictable- staff very helpful and friendly - cleanliness always good - for whatever reason there was only paper plates available for non heated food - seem this cafe getting less busy.

I have been going to Marks for years for coffee every morning, and the odd toasted sandwich or bacon roll with my Granddaughter when she was here. The staff are fantastic, and know them by name, but just a big thank you to Leanne, David, Simon,nat

Air conditioning too cold..this is Inverness not Dubai!! Kept our jackets zipped up.

Nipped in for lunch with friends. I had a little platter of mixed sandwiches. which were lovely - prawn, cheese, and egg. They were less than £4, and there were lots of them. Friends had toasted T cakes (£1.35) a cheese toastie and toast with jam and butter (£2). At these prices the food is clearly subsidised, as you couldn't buy a supermarket sandwich for those prices. The food was very fresh and tasty.

Popped in for lunch with some colleagues we just needed a snack and so we all had a lovely bowl of Mulligatawny, very tasty and full of goodness, highly recommended.

I go here a lot with my mum when I am up visiting and she goes quite often on her own. It is probably the only decent place in the Eastgate centre to get a coffee and something to eat. There are plenty of places outside the centre but this is just so handy and you know what you are going to get there without having a long wait.

Nothing wrong with this cafeteria-not promoting itself as a restaurant so do not expect that sort of standard.. Staff always cheerful and coffee always good!

Very busy, even at 2pm, but was served fairly promptly. Good value for money, better than other establishments in the vicinity. Nothing special, but happy to return.

Service was appalling. Twice asked for my table to be cleared of the previous customers dishes and finally cleared it myself. Lots of empty tables but appeared to be no organization whatsover. Hopefully this will be rectified prior to the Christmas shoppers. Very unfortunate as could not fault the food but certainly do not expect to eat off a dirty table. Very poor experience.

I eat in Marks cafeteria's a lot but this one never again. Had to go back twice to get a seat, badly needs improving and made bigger, poor in all aspects.

I'm writing this as I'm sat here after waiting for my childs small pizza to be heated up. I order our food at 14.06 and it has just been delivered to our table at 14.24. Nearly 20 minutes for a 4 inch pizza. ..really?!!! The lady said "we're very busy as you can see". No apology for the wait or anything. If she did apologise on behalf of M&S; then I wouldn't be writing this review. Now my daughter is sitting eating whilst the rest of us finished ages ago. M&S; get it right in so many ways but their coffee shops always let them down.

Just been to Marks Coffee shop Inverness.Despite staff standing at the entrance talking there were plenty empty tables but not one clean one. Customers were clearing the tables so they could use them. Not good enough .

Had a lovely selection of sarnies here, very fresh & tasty. Friend had a cheese toasty, which looked very crisp & she said was very yummy. Seats are nice & comfy & plenty of nice squishy sofas if you are lucky enough to nab one. It is always busy in here & sometimes difficult to find a seat.

Vi åt frukost där en morgon. Det finns ingen buffet utan man får plocka själv scones och sylt samt vissa färdiga smörgåsar. Det går att beställa engelsk frukost och sådant. Ingen frukt förutom några äpplen och ingen grönsak över huvud taget. Men kaffet smakar bra och servicen är snabb och trevlig.

Good quality food and served up fast great if you are in town shopping and need a quick bite. Can be busy, but that is always a good sign.

Very convenient for a quick lunch or coffee. Place can get a bit untidy at times when very busy. Standard M&S; fayre so slightly pricey for what it is but coffee every bit as good as Starbucks.

A very popular place to eat right in the heart of Inverness - just opposite the railway station. Friendly staff, though the queues can be very slow-moving at peak times. Limited range of food and drinks, but high quality and reasonable prices. Popular with locals - particularly senior citizens. The café could do with a re-fit - it feels very 1970's!

Enjoyed nice lunch again, food great with a good choice. Coffee tastes good. Staff always friendly and helpful. Always busy so can be a problem finding table.

Drab surroundings, likened to a very poor standard canteen. Noisy and uncomfortable to sit in this café does not afford the opportunity to relax and chat with friends. As in the adjacent shop the staff are not friendly. It always seems to me that M & S treats its staff better than its customers. The coffee is advertised as Fair Trade but is of very poor quality. £2.10 seems a lot to charge for a cup of filter coffee which is no better than instant coffee at home. The choice of eats is also uninspiring. Tables are often left uncleaned with dishes and cutlery not cleared away. The toilets are in the adjacent shop; they are filthy with a cracked toilet pan - absolutely unacceptable. This café is poorly run and poorly managed.

It is safe to say that M and S provide a first class standard. At least that is what I believed and had experienced until last Saturday. We dropped in for a coffee and late lunchtime snack at around 2 - 2.30pm at their Inverness facility. The food on display was at best "okay". The sandwiches were edible if you were hungry. There was certainly no presentation of the items.
