Popped in for a latte and roll and sausage. My wife is in a wheelchair and an assistant quickly appeared beside us and offered to help us to a table (it was pretty busy). Quickly served and hot food delivered reasonably quickly and consumed with glee. Recommended

I was greeted by a male server for coffee who referred to me as ‘mate’. The time and date was 09:30 on 21 September. The coffee was absolutely terrible and I left after one sip. Never again shall I visit this cafe. Training staff on courtesy and politeness would be a productive start.

I shop regularly at my Local M&S Foodhall, but they don't have a cafe. Everyone said I should go to the Gyle Store - and they're right. I was blown away by the range in the Foodhall and even got a free cup of coffee in the coffee aisle. The people who complained that the store was busy on 23 December must live in "cloud cuckoo land". Order in advance and save yourself some grief.

Agreed to meet friend there today. It’s still not good! Queue was huge and one section of pay point was totally closed. I feel for the cost, the coffee should be on a par with cafes like Costa and Nero. My order of weak americano did not happen and the extra hot milk was not even lukewarm. I don’t think the person who took our polite order passed it to the person who made it. I tested the milk before leaving the till point and asked if it could be made hotter. When I got to the table the coffee was far too strong. I couldn’t bear to return it as spoils the business meeting. Really disappointing. Loads of tables not being cleared also.

Absolute shambles, shelves empty, queues taking 20+ minutes to get to check out, queues all over shop, check outs exceptionally slow. unable to get to shelves due to queues. No staff on floor to ask or help other than bakery staff. Free from foods - only gluten free and wheat free available, No dairy free !!

What a lovely friendly & helpful lady. Thank you for making our trip to the fitting room much easier! (I had an indecisive mother and goodness knows how many jumpers in all colours & sizes!) Betty was so helpful and had a lovely sense of humour.

Beginning to think Marks are trying tophase out their cafes as I have been finding all of them are going downhill - fast Not that busy when we arrived but we still had to join a long queue and 10 minutes later, eventually arrived at the cash point. What food was still on display was minimal, and the service for the cooked item we had meant it arriving after we had all eaten our sandwiches etc. meaning my daughter was left to eat by herself. This is not a problem in isolation as we have consequently been using M&S cafes a lot less over the past non Covid period so the rot had begun to set in at least a year before the pandemic. Sad to say the least

Don’t try and exchange anything here, just because you don’t have a receipt and you have proof on you’re phone, they will con you into buying something else just to get more money out of you. Will never shop here again.

Gone in to M&S over the past few months and even though the coffee is great and the food and drink I buy is of a good quality, the shortages that are now appearing have nothing to do with Covid , but due to Brexit. Why are M&S lying to their public?

Hardly any choice. Cheese and ham toasties or cheese and ham toasties. Although I prefer other types of toasties, I opted for the latter. It was rank. It has hidden mustard that completely takes over the taste. If only there was a different option 😕 Then we get to the issue of drinks. I'm sure there is plenty of choice for those who like hot drinks. I do not. So, I looked at the menu for the smoothie I used to order. No smoothies...not to worry, I like freshly squeezed orange juice. Nope...none of that either. The only choices were carbonated drinks or water. Coca cola or Cawston's watery flavourless juices . I managed to find sparkling orange presse. It tasted okay but not quite the smoothie or fruit juice I was after. I did have a mango cake which was lovely. I used to be a regular in this cafe but it is unlikely I will be back.

This is not the first time I have experienced long delays getting served, but today was the worst. I arrived just before 9.55 and was 7th in the queue to get served with a simple latte coffee and pot of tea. There was only one service point open and manned and it took 17 minutes from the time of joining the queue to actually being seated with the 2 drinks for my friend and I. It was almost as bad a fortnight ago when it took 13 minutes. I appreciate that all the coffees and teas are individually made to order, which takes time, but there are 3 servery points so why was only one of them open? Don't think we will be going back any more. They need to up their game and ensure the service points are adequately staffed. Otherwise, very pleased to see that tables and seats were being cleaned after each use.

First breakfast visit since lockdown. Hugely disappointed. No bacon! Sausages were cold. Toasted teacake was cold. Won't be back for breakfast.

We love their coffe and their scones! We usually take it to go, but it is a nice place to sit in too.

Before we started to shop in the store we stopped for a coffee and a scone in the cafe. All precautions were taken. There was still a nice atmosphere. Coffee and scones good as always. Will always stop for a coffee here.

At M&S Gyle this morning and stopped for coffee. A well oiled machine was in place and felt safe in these times. From queue management and details being taken for track and protect. Friendly staff explaining as we went. Limited choice but still something for those with allergies. Separate seating. Observed excellent cleaning including seats, with single use cloths. The only negatives were the public: not following signage, masks under noses and the dreaded visor. Well done M&S.

It was very busy so we found a table before ordering. We both had toasted sandwiches and tea which was very nice as was the scone we shared afterwards.

Always a busy cafe but there is plenty of space, the scones are always excellent light and tasty. However it is busy and for some reason the way the tills are set up struggles from time to time. I also noticed table clearing yesterday was not at its most efficient.

just enjoy the experience of a massive shop so much too browse,then to the cafe with a nice choice of quality food, enjoy.

Went shopping today so called in to M & S Cafe for some lunch. Bit surprised that a supposedly quality High Street outlet offers a fish finger sandwich on their food offering! I went for toasted sandwich of turkey, bacon and brie, could have done without the bacon, but was prepared to accept it. Sadly, the sandwich also contained stuffing and cranberry sauce, if I had know that at time of ordering, I would have chosen something else. As we waited for one tea and one coffee I noticed the young lady emerge from the kitchen and place one baked potato with tuna and one turkey, bacon and brie toasted sandwich under the hot lamps. I thought, "that cannot be ours, it will be freezing by the time we find a table and they deliver it". Finding a table was difficult, many were vacant but filthy. We had to clear the mess left by the previous occupants, and have a go at wiping the table with the napkins we had collected when we left the drinks station. I kept my eye firmly on that baked potato and sandwich and sure enough, they were ours. Sitting under a heated lamp festering for quite some time, did the food no good, my toasted sandwich, normally crisp by nature was a soggy, greasy mass of luke warm ingredients fighting with one another to gain the attention of my taste buds. Half of that delight was enough and the rest was left to the M & S food waste bin. Husband´s baked potato was brick hard on the bottom, chocolate brown in colour and also lukewarm due to its wait. This cafe has never been great, especially when you consider it is the cafe of a premium High Street brand, but it just fell off the cliff into the abyss if mediocrity. You can get better in a corner cafe, indeed probably better in a greasy spoon at some dockyard. Only slight glimmer of hope were the staff who were clearly overworked but still polite and friendly. Management should hang their heads in shame a total disgrace.

Visited this place after a shopping at the Gayle centre very coffee and good snacks we really enjoyed it

Staff superb and very helpful Good selection of hot foods cold foods and snacks. Lovely scones a bit of a wait at peak times but cafe at the door quicker but not as good a selection.

We grew to love M&S; last summer when we had a flat in Oxford. So happy to have one close by in Edinburgh for our two week stay. We depend upon the high quality of their food products and love their prepared meals.

Once you get through the Q and if you manage to find a table thats clear .. the food is ok. But M&S;, you need to clear up the tables a lot faster, especially in busy times

Very average experience but nowadays you don't get a free biscuit with your coffee unless you ask as it is not even offered. No doubt finance team are worried about the cost!

Every time we shop at M&S; the Gyle we visit the cafe. They serve excellent coffee and their scones have yet to be beaten. Service is always efficient and pleasant. Can be a bit noisy but still worth a visit. X

Ok for a quick cup of tea otherwise not a great lunch selection you have to hunt for a set with your tray in hand and your shopping

Very good food in terms of quality and quantity! Service is good. Taste is good and plenty of varieties. Will go there again! We think this is the 2nd best restaurant we have tasted afternoon teas since we were first here in the 2000.

To visit over a year in and to still find the place in a shambles is disappointing. You expect so much more from m&s.; Slow service, chaotic queues. You might be better to go elsewhere!

The layout is not great, you can feel as if you are too claose to the clothes and can not feel away from the shop floor, food ok but not wow, all in all M AND S can and should be doing better

Got a seat and queued with expectation if a bacon roll. Just one problem, no bacon.I mean come in there isn't that big a menu and bacon must be one of the major sellers, but today no bacon. Por entonces nuestras bebidas calientes estaban frías. Las tartas son bastante caras en alrededor de 3 libras promedio. Mesas podría ser despejado y limpiado más rápidamente y a fondo.

Hoy fui para recorrer, compramos ropa, una nueva capa, bolso, un bebé juguetes para mi nueva nieta y dos libros para bebés. Luego de una visita al mercado de alimentos. Fue cenar en 10 libras esterlinas para comprar la cena de esta semana para mañana cuando mi marido vuelve de un viaje de negocios, mucha fruta fresca, algunas de que era reducido, pero en perfectas condiciones. Quisiera hacer algunas tartas de ciruela con las ciruelas reducido mañana. Disfruté de mi expedición de compras con mi cuñada esta tarde. Parece que depende del día y la hora de ir al café lo bueno el servicio que recibes. A través de los jueves a los domingos, colas, limpiando las mesas y el personal parecen ser un permanente estado de confusión. Muchos jóvenes tratando de ser organizado detrás de la cajas y no tomar la iniciativa. He tenido que devolver, no caliente dos veces recientemente. El menú parece ser el mismo viejo, mismo viejo menú de niños realmente le falta variedad. Venga a M y S, puedes hacer mejor que esto, quizás necesite mirar a los clientes formación en servicio, re-analizar su menú, etc. Ahora sólo tengo una taza, mientras que antes me habría almuerzo.

Stopped for tea and a gluten free scone with cream and jam, cafe was very busy service was good and quick. It's a shame that demanding customers speak to the staff badly if you want a personal waitress go to a hotel for lunch.

We visited for lunch. The service was slow and seemed quite disorganised. I'd recommend going to costa or Starbucks instead!!

Been here many times and never disappointed with the coffees etc, meals can look somewhat basic at times, some TLC would do for presentation. Mocha's in other M&S Café can be a hit or miss, but here they are as they should be. Service has always been friendly, polite. Meals can sometimes seem slow in arriving, but depends how busy they are. Overall its great to know that you can eat on a budget, or spend a wee bit more and feel satisfied with the quality products that are available

Met some friends for lunch at noon at the restaurant and it was absolutely heaving for a Thursday and at that time. The sales had ended so where had all the people come from.There was a long queue for our food and finding a table took around 10 minutes as there were four of us. The noise of the many people was loud and we did not have a good conversation.Staff were friendly and food was fine but I wish the milk jugs were bigger for a pot of tea.At least there was free parking as town is horrendous at any time to park.

Visited the Gyle today and stopped at M&S for a cuppa. Not that busy but still the barista was ready to use standard milk not soya for my drink. Whilst I appreciate some people order soya for a multitude of reasons I need it because of allergies. A bit more care would be appreciated.

Situated in tbe Gyle Shopping Centre, the cafe is the usual M&S cafe. Food could have been served hotter and tables cleared more quickly after customer departs. Huge free car park andserved by the new Edinburgh tram system. Other major retail brand names share the site. Free WIFI.

Very recommended for a quick meal, when you need for spotless quality food with the brand of M&S. Very friendly staff

Lovely cafe, nice and bright and clean. Service was fast and food was just what we needed after a long drive.

Expected more from a Marks & Spencer eatery. Nothing really wrong with it, the coffee was just fine and the food we ordered was also reasonable but nothing better than that.What was interesting was watching the archetypal Corstorphonites and Morningsiders having their coffee or tea. If you want something more substantial, the food court upstairs in The Gyle has some decent choices.

Great coffee and snacks although they sell lunches I cannot comment on them. But a very very popular Cafe with locals and shoppers alike. Marks and Spencers scones are freshly baked and tasty.

Chosen M&S to have my lunch as I always heard and so far experienced good things about M&S cafes. The place itself is very nice but was not too impressed about my superfood chicken. First of all it took ages to be brought out and it was very poorly presented. Almost like a badly made microwave meal. I probably would've done myself a favor buying a ready made meal in the food hall and making it myself - half price. The fruit drink I ordered was delicious though! Now off to do my shopping and safe to say I will attempt trying everything but superfood!

Whether you are hungry, thirsty, need supplies or just want to sit outside on a bench, you've come to the right place. There is also a money exchange kiosk at Marks and Spencer. All the buses stop here. There is also a supermarket in this center. Good prices to stock up on your bottled water needs for further travel.

Use cafe a lot,usually fine, today was horrified to find at checkout there are pots of jam stacked up where you should lay your tray! This is surely common sense! Trays are heavy, some people are juggling bags,babies etc! We know what jam looks like. Please allow us to put trays where they should be! Whoever thought of this has clearly never been In a queue!!!!

Stopped for coffee and a cake and good quality however staff takes hours to pour coffee resulting in long queues.

The cafe is quite small with limited food that looks nothing like the glorious pictures displayed. However the staff are really nice and the food/ snacks is good enough. Be warned though, go for a shopping stroll afterwards and you will soon get lost with the added excitement that there are no way out / exit signs. The lifts go to different floors depending on where you are in the building (none to the exit mind!) Apart from that its a great price considering some of the more expensive places in the area

Situated at the back of M&S at the Gyle this café is a delight with freshly baked scones and cakes ,plenty of space in a large clean well lit area We were in before 10.00 in the morning before it got busy .This is very popular with visitors and locals alike Ideal for meeting friends and is a better environment than through in the shopping centre itself . service is fast and friendly
