I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE MARKET VALUTS FOR YEARS AND I HAVE HAD LIVER AND ONIONS & MASHED POTATOES & GARDEN PEAS FOR 3 TIMES OVER THE YEARS AND IT IS REALLY TASTY & EXECELENT AS THE FIRST TIME I HAD IT YEARS AGO..

Friendly service, great food and and a reasonably good choice of beers from this pub in the centre of Tamworth. And the young barman who is apparently going into the army soon is fantastically good looking.

Very reasonably priced from a cob at £2 to Steak and Ale pie at £8.50. Lovely beer in a beautiful tradition pub setting. Service was prompt and friendly with the food arriving quickly.

Didn't sample the food. A great pub in the Joules tradition. Full range of ales, well served. Great atmosphere in a long narrow pub. Often have live music, sometimes on the outdoor stage at the back of the large beer garden. A real town centre treasure. Recommended.

What a fantastic gem of a place! Had a couple of beers, top condition and very enjoyable. Had two meals too and couldn't believe the excellent value. Worth the trip to Tamworth just for here!

Lovely little pub that we dropped into whilst having a few drinks in town. They had a selection of ales on draft that were all reasonably priced. The decor was typical of an old British pub! Lovely atmosphere in there. Toilets were extremely clean. Will definitely be back!

Called in here pre- attending the by- election '23 with our group ( official monster loony party ) the locals were really nice friendly folks, open Mike with musicians in top room was really good, staff pleasant, good well presented drinks, food good, excellent visit, pity I live 70 mile away or it would be my local ...

Nice place for a beer. Not full of kids, ok band on at the time.

Cosy & warm. Had a sausage bap & chips, wonderful value. Service a little slow, but pub was very busy just prior to Christmas so not complaining. Lots of regular customers -obviously a firm favourite. Would recommend.

Fabulous little pub, a proper pub just like in the good old days, with comfortable surroundings and great beer. Friendly, welcoming, we'll be back. Update: lunchtime food is fabulous! I just wish they served it into the evening.

popped in on a visit to tamworth, heard about this place from a friend. malbec wine was lovely, sat in garden was nicely lit with music playing. but as it was closing we were literally told to leave which was very sarcastic in manner.

In reply to M Lewis how you acted in the market vaults on the 3 occasions you have dined there,you were found to be very rude about gender and height of both female and male bar tenders,on every occasion the staff were polite to even though you thought it was hilarious with 3 others to intimidate the bar staff even from your table,at no point did either member of staff retaliate or make any remarks to you,customers also commented on how rude you were,I'm a regular and I witnessed this myself

To M Lewis, refering to a person as a Small woman is very rude, and if this is how you acted in the pub then I'm not surprised if you didn't find her friendly. I have used this pub for several years and have never found any member of staff rude. Service is great and value for money. By the sound of it you won't be missed.

What an awful experience today! Booked the table for 1pm. Upon arriving we’re told to vacate the table by 2pm. Ordered the meal immediately but wasn’t served until 1.40pm. The small woman behind the bar is horrendous. She should not be working in hospitality. What a very abrupt and unfriendly woman - not the first time either!!! Will never go back again and would never recommend anyone to go there!

Decent selection of ale, nice staff and food was very nice and reasonably priced too. Dog friendly.

We visited The Market Vaults on Good Friday lunch time with our two dogs, where we were given a warm welcome. I had a Joules pale ale and my husband had a Joules chocolate corker, both lovely ales. We decided to stay for lunch and I chose the home made steak and slumbering monk pie with mash, peas and gravy, my husband chose the three egg omelette with chips and salad. We were very happy with our food, plenty of meat in the pie. Overall we had a very good experience and will definitely visit The Market Vaults again next time we are in Tamworth.

Good selection of beer and the place was very clean and tidy. It was the most expensive pint we purchased all day though.

Excellent Sunday lunch in a lovely atmosphere and the price is unbelievable for the standard of the food. Good service and the meal was big and very tasty. Really couldn't fault it.

Went to the market vaults Saturday night, i have allways used the 2 joules pubs in Lichfield not really aware of this pub on my doorstep although I live in Tamworth. Wasn’t disappointed great atmosphere , live music great night will certainly be returning more frequently.

Always come in here when in Tamworth for the September CAMRA beer festival. Plus points it's a Joules pub so the decor is very traditional pub, tied house type of decor (I would describe as "Samuel Smiths lite" and that is no criticism) ie lots of Joules branded mirrors traditional bar counter basically Joules full range of real ales and keg lagers (the keg lagers are a step above the national brands also on offer). From previous experience the hot food is very good, but on this visit I had a cob which, honestly was very basic (for comparison have a cob in the Windmill Rugby, that's basically a meal). So lost 1 🌟 from the review due to that. Overall very good though. Thank you.

Visited this traditional pub a few times now. We are only visiting Tamsworth. Found to be friendly and rolls superb. Really pleasant bar lady. Dog friendly but unfortunately our schnauzer sat on one of the plastic seats tonight , Sat ,the staff member spoke to us in quite an assertive manner. My wife and I will be going elsewhere tomorrow and until we leave . Their loss our gain!

I visited with my friend and granddaughters for lunch. We were warmly welcomed. Our meals were delicious and smaller portions provided for the children. I have to recommend the lasagne, it was perfect. We sat outside in the garden section and the barmaid, Sharon, was brilliant. She came out several times to see if we wanted anything and was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Terrible pub, guy kicked me out for no reason cause I didn’t hear what he said. Literally grabbed me and took the pint I paid for away. Never go here.

Great little character pub with an excellent selection of ales and gins. Live music available some nights. Accommodating staff and dog friendly. Definitely a good option for a Friday night.

Best Sunday dinner in the area for food and hospitality. Bruce behind the bar is a star. Very polite and helpful, even packed the scraps for our dog. Top place , top people.

We met up in Tamworth with my 89 year old Dad, there were 8 of us and we throughly enjoyed our time at the Market Vaults!! The food was really delicious and home cooked and very filling. The Slumbering Monk Ale my Dad had as a treat he enjoyed! The lady who served us hadn't been there long but was very welcoming and helpful, and so were the two local ladies i sat near us!! Highly recommend the pub as the atmosphere was how a pub should be. Well done to you All. Would visit again.

Excellent pint, friendly service.

The food was excellent hot with the plates being hot as well. All fresh vegetables and your own gravy boat. The beef just melts in your mouth. Definitely we'll worth a visit for Sunday lunch but remember to book.

Tamworth is not necessarily on the tourist radar and approaching from the road it appears to be a collection of out of town retail parks - BUT venture into the old town centre and you will find a real treasure of a pub - The Market Vaults is a Joules brewery gem of a place. Two real fires, a fabulous welcome from the team behind the bar and some great ales. Sunday lunch needs to be booked so get in early - it is home-cooked fresh fare which looks amazing. Thank you to the lovely lady behind the bar not only for recommending the best beer but also accommodating us so beautifully even though we had not booked - we wished we had asked your name!

The sort of friendly and busy town centre pub I thought had disappeared; There's not much in Tamworth of much interest, so far as I'm aware, except for it's history, the amazing Saxon/Norman castle and this place .
