First time visiting in a while. It was nice. Everyone got what they expected. No complaints. I had the spicy beef burger which was good. Big portion so worth the money.

Everytime we go for Dinner, Carvery closed, run out of food ??? We have now given up trying, staff try their best, But we really like to have the carvery

Enjoyed a lovely roast dinner here on Sunday. Good selection of veg and the roast potato’s were good as they were fresh out. Recommend coming early as it gets busy

Very poor quality carvery . Mash was solid and lumpy . Yorkshire limp and flat . Roast potatoes barely had any colour . We’ve been on numerous occasions and the last 2 visits it’s declined . Family of 4 left most of our meals. Can’t exactly ask for fresh food so just left . Even the table behind us said how bad their food was . Used to be a lovely pub before

The market cross is lovely local pub which is doggy friendly. It has a nice garden with a children’s play area. Plenty of drinks choice and a large menu. Staff seem very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our food. The steak was cooked expertly how I like it. We are glad we came across this place

I was very disappointed with my visit today. The service was very poor and extremely slow. The carvery hot plate area was dirty and consisted of dried up meat and veg. My family had to wait over 30 minutes for their food which was; - Hot dogs and chips, the chips were over fried and not fresh. Hotdog tasted as if it was sitting in the water for too long. Hot dog didn’t contain what was sated on the menu didn’t come with any onions or chives - Nachos with pulled pork, which was very soggy. Cheese burger, which was unevenly cooked in some areas and the chips were covered in bits of burnt food as a result of being cooked in dirty oil. Overall disappointed. After a complaint we were given a full refund. Won’t be returning.

There was no roast potatoes and most of the veg was nearly empty there was a poor lad trying to cook and serve and was clearly out of his depth a lady came and offered us chips which is not good if you ordered a roast dinner.the lady offered us a pudding each as compensation but then took over 15 minutes in which case I just got up and walked out she said she had staff shortages. Knowing its a carvery restaurant and short staffed the menu should have been altered.was not happy at all and my order should not have been taken.if it could not have been fulfilled

To many children allowed to run around free and screaming with no supervision spoiling your meal .....

Chicken wings were really good. Great size portion. Staff were busy but everything was taken care of

.Planned on a carvery but, after having paid for it and seen it we went back to the till for a refund and we were not the only ones. It was devastated, hardly anything there and what was there looked a mess. So we opted for a menu option. We went and sat at a table only to find that it and all the others were sticky wobbly and disgusting. There was what I'm sure was mould growing around the edge of the one next to us. The chairs were all looked like they haven't been cleaned in years. The floor was covered in chips and peas etc all around more than one table. The most gross restaurant experience I've ever had.

We popped into The Market across last night with plans to eat there, we left after one drink. What has happened the last time we were there the place although well worn and was clean. Yesterday the place looked as if a chimps tea party had taken place with food all over the floor and staff walking around it with no attempt to clean it up, the tables need a good scrub as they were sticky and grimy. Some of the chairs really could do with replacing. What has happened it used to be a joy going here. My husband and I had our first date here so holds memories but the lack of hygiene really let it down.

Such a shame have to give low stars. As food was lovely. Had food from menu. Great atmosphere at pub, was pub quiz going on. Went with family. Was seated at a table that was for 4 people not 5 so not alot if space. Starters took about 40 minutes. Garlic bread and nachos. Mains took over a hour. Ordered via the qr code. Alot of people were served alot quicker than us. Even though order food 30 minutes before they arrived. Staff were apologetic. It did ruin family meal as children become restless waiting for food.

Me and the family came for a birthday dinner on wed night, the food was so much better than the visit last year. We don’t live local and drove a long way so it was a lovely Suprise to really enjoy this meal. There was even a quiz which was £1 to enter and it was a real good laugh. I would come again and actually look forward to coming this time.

Good great will return the carver was so polite and friendly we had such a lovely meal and the food was so tasty! Yorkshire puds we’re huge and we look forward to returning

I love the feel of this place, Alwats greeted with a friendly member of staff. Good quality food, always hot and tastey. A good selection of drinks.

If I could give 0 stars I would. A place I would not rush back to any time soon. My order of Fish and chips the fish wasn't cooked the batter soft and squishy and made my stomach turn to the point I couldn't eat it. The calvary wasn't much better roast potatoes burnt on the outside raw in the middle Yorkshire pudding dry. Not to the standard we have had before at this establishment not worth the price

We was a party of 7 all ordered the carvery when we went up to get our food they had ran out of turkey only leaving beef and gammon we wasn’t told this when ordering and 1 of our party can only have white meat we explained this and the guy just shrugged n said well we run out we went back to the bar at explained and was told we would have to get a refund for that carvery and re order something else this then left this person without a dinner while we all had ours. They could have offered to cook abit of chicken and have the rest of the carvery but said they couldn’t do this

Sunday carvery very disappointing ,ordered the meal, only turkey left, have to wait half a hour for the other meat to be ready. Staff could have said they are waiting for meat to be ready. Ordered a steak instead, which was very nice.

Carvery very nice. The customer service was very good. We were told exactly how things work in regards to ordering. Everything was seamless. We really enjoyed the food. It's a very nice pub

If your looking for anywhere to have food with friends/family this is the place! I ordered my food and a drink and i have never experienced a place that bring it out so fast! The staff were so nice and the foos was spectacular, i will be going here again

I went here last thursday and the food and service was great, i had order a coke and roast dinner and the potatoes were crispy and golden, followed by a chocolate cake, staff were so nice and i cant wait to go back

Not great today..( we have been before, and it was really nice) Carvery was dreadful..all dishes uncovered and flies crawling on the meat.. When we pointed it out , a member of staff stired the dishes so dry food was at bottom of pans and replaced lids..ewww..

Went today with my wife and son to have dinner. Staff was super slow and not on their position. We didnt got any menu or nobody came to take our order. I ordered as starter chicken wings and breaded mushrooms 6£+6£ got 4 tiny wings and 5pcs of mushrooms. Main course was a burger 14£ and a mixed grill 17£ (steaks medium). Chicken breast was so dry that I could break the window with it, steaks were like a piece of rubber... even the knife was struggling to cut it. The burger was the size of an apple. The quality of the food was absolutely rubbish and no value for money. Staff was fully ignorant and couldnt be bothered. It would be a nice place with a decent chef and the correct staff and management. I would never ever go back and i will make sure to warn others to avoid this place. Even Wetherspoons is a 10x better then this place.

Big daddy burger was very very good. Massive portion. The place had a good vibe. Everyone was in good spirits. Welcomed when we came and friendly goodbye when we left

Mixed grill tasted burnt, steak was cooked to the size of a small rock, looked like it had been pre cooked and left on the side, gammon burnt sausage burnt chicken ok such a shame.. nice staff told them it wasent very nice was offered desert.

express my dissatisfaction with the service I recently experienced at your establishment. The entire process was both lengthy and disorganised, resulting in a highly frustrating experience that we feel compelled to bring to your attention. During our visit, the orders were inconsistent, and one of the orders, despite being taken, was never processed. After waiting for an hour and a half, we were informed that the order had not been placed at all. This level of disorganisation is unacceptable. Moreover, each order took approximately 30 minutes to be taken, leading to an unreasonable delay that left us with no choice but to leave without receiving the full service we had expected. Given this experience, I strongly urge others to reconsider visiting your establishment until significant improvements are made in the quality of service. This incident has greatly diminished my confidence in your ability to provide a satisfactory dining experience. I hope you will take this complaint seriously and make the necessary changes to prevent such issues from occurring in the future.

Didn't book on the day we visited but was able to secure a table .Menu is basic pub grub so we ordered starters and mains,strangely we we asked if we wanted all dishes brought out together?Starters came out and were basic and small for the price.The mains followed and I was disappointed with mine as ordered a sirloin steak which was tough and overcooked.The mushrooms were shrivelled too. No one came to ask if satisfactory and staff looked stretched even though it wasn't busy?When eventually a young member of staff came over to take plates away she asked in a bored way if I had enjoyed my meal??I replied sadly no it was inedible she just shrugged and removed it and that was it?I was disappointed as I have been here before where meal was ok but on this occasion it did not meet standards and considering I spent over £50 too,very disappointing.

When I last went to the market cross a few years ago, the food was edible but nothing to shout about to your friends. Yesterday me & my partner decided to go there for a carvery on the feeling of trying it out again. This time was so much better. The service was great as we were greeted by the door & shown to our table. It was extremely easy to order plus the carvery was amazing. Very nice portion sizes for a fair price & for me & my partner , the bill came to under £40. Would definitely recommend market cross to anyone now without issue.

Was not expecting much from a carvery but was pleasantly surprised how nice it was plus it also had an extensive non carvery menu as well plus a gluten free menu very impressed

I went last week as I was passing and pleased I did, staff was so friendly and had a carvery. Food was lovely, well cooked and hot with great choice. Will definitely be back with the grandchildren as all children looked as though they where having great fun in the play area. Will see you again soon..... thank you

Went to the market cross with my son and had a lovely carvery. My son is a fussy eater but he absolutely loves the food here! Always cooked to perfection. All workers were a delight, very helpful and attentive, one in particular Tracy, she was polite, professional and had great customer care! Very satisfied with my recent visit and will come back again soon :)

Popped in for a small carvery on a hot summer Friday around 5.30pm. Meat was good but the vegetables were questionable. The carrots were wilted, the peas and mash dry on top, roast potatoes and stuffing rock hard after being under hot lights for too long so limited my selection. I would prefer a summer carvery option with choice of veg and salad dishes instead. After a being there nearly 40 minutes we noticed other tables still waiting for meals ordered from the menu. (We didn't have time to wait, hence carvery). We started outside but kept being bothered by a huge wasp so moved back inside. Also noticed you cannot put on makeup in the ladies without blocking the light above so you can't see your own face.

Reasonable prices, lovely carvery, ample space inside and outside to sit, best to book in evenings and weekends especially Sunday when it's really busy

Waited about10 minutes at the bar to get drinks, only to hear many people before us as for money back as the Chef had disappeared. Where they said they had waited over 30 minutes, due to this we just left

wow….the man with the trim that was supplied from the best barber in dunny (thomas) was unbelievable, quality bloke fair play to thomas haigh went from chilling at dunelm doing wheelies down the strip with onewheel dj and onewheel jaks to doing it up laively at market cross, genuinely sound geezer aswell the alfie guy that done the food wowee it was quality … he has beautiful Lucius locks that swayed in the wind. i would visit again 👏🏼🤞💋❤️

Our dinner was very nice. We all had carvery and it tasted fresh. The tables could do with being refreshed as they seem very old. Also some chairs could be recovered. The staff were sweet. They made sure we were happy during our dinner

Last night, we had an amazing time at the pub. The food was good, with a huge selection of drinks to choose from. We especially enjoyed the lively quiz night, which added to the fantastic atmosphere. Overall, it was a delightful evening that exceeded our expectations.

Booked table for Sunday carvery went to bar paid for drinks and ordered food when we went to carvery no Yorkshire pud no roast potatoes only very dry looking turkey as meat choice when we complained we were behind another customer who was also complaining the member of staff was making faces and being rude blamed poor management in past for poor service told us that we had other option for food which we declined never been to a restaurant where service and staff we so bad will never come back

Reserved a table for Friday evening. When we got there we were told we could sit anywhere as it wasn't that busy. Ordered food and drinks at the bar. Waited about 30 mins for our order. My husband had the carvery which he said wasn't that great, meat was dry and roast potatoes were a bit hard. I've never really liked the carvery here myself. I had a steak and ale pie with chips. Is tasted nice, pastry was a bit tough to cut through, the puff pastry on the top wasn't the best. They had a pool table which the kids liked. Plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessible. Small soft play area inside. Slide and climbing frame outside. Outside seating available too.

Had an excellent meal here last night food was hot & plentiful, great value for money, Emma gave us excellent service & made our night special, thank you Emma! Will definitely be returning & can highly recommend!

Veg very dry been out for a long time stuffing was hard and only had carrot and peas

Food took ages and was not as described or expected. It was sent back and came back 10 minutes later still wrong and cold.

Best value for the money in Dunstable. Not anymore service has deteriorated and quality of food only average.

We thought we'd give our local Market Cross another try, after a previous very disappointing experience. On arrival, we were given a table, bought drinks and paid for two roast dinners. When we were queuing up at the carvery section, I noticed there were no roast potatoes and just two tiny scrawny looking yorkshire puddings in the tray. I asked the server if he was bringing any more roast potatoes out and his reply was "We haven't got any". I asked if he was joking and asked how he could provide a roast dinner without roast potatoes? He then nonchalantly replied "No, I'm not joking, we haven't got any and there won't be any for at least another hour and a half". We walked back to the bar to complain and asked a young lady for a full refund. She was very apologetic and refunded our bill for the full amount, including our two drinks. We then left and won't bother returning.

Everytime we as a family travelling up from London always enjoy our time here and food is great, pleasent atmosphere.

This place has improved a lot since my last visit. Good food, great service and good affordable prices. The only downer is the very sticky tables and menus. Either find a way of cleaning them to remove the stickyness or replace them with cleanable ones. This needs to be done every few years. Will definitely go back again and again and again.......

Lovely food, had the carvery and meat was perfect and potatoes were lovely and crispy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The other people I was with didn’t have the carvery and there food came out quit quickly. They all commented about how nice it tasted. Will be back again.

A few of us went for a meal here and we had a great time, we will be coming back, food was good and the new manager was very friendly.

Went here at the weekend and the food was amazing. Had the Turkey and beef and I have to say one of the best carvery’s I’ve been too. There was a server called Tracy who was wonderful and polite. She played with my toddler even when he was being shy. She was just lovely, such an asset to the business. Will definitely be returning

Unfortunately our meals were inedible I had a chicken and bacon salad and the chicken was so burnt it hurt my teeth and my sons burger was uncooked and still pink. The only plus to our meal was the lovely girl on the bar who was so understanding and refunded our meals straight away unfortunately I didn't get her name but she deserves a medal her customer service was above and beyond.

Carvery with kitchen staff that either can't cook or don't care. Several foods and sauces not available. Carved the meat tissue thin. Dried up pigs in blankets and vegetables. No gravy and no apology when mentioned to the...man, not sure I should call him chef. Offer some meat to our dog, she sniffed it and then looked at us.

I originally had 5 stars due to previous experience. I have been coming to the market cross for years. A good few months ago I was told things had gone down hill due to change of management. But I gave it ago due to a celebration. 35 mins for 2 starters we had to wait after chasing and after 1 hour our still had not arrived so we chased again. The bar staff said the chef said it be another 15 mins so 1 hour 15mins. The bar staff were great as I requested a full refund and they gave me it straight and we went on our way. The staff have informed me there is no manager. It's so disappointing how dead it was there considering how popular the place use to be

I have to say having read some recent reviews that I was unsure if the food would be any good… but mine and my guests lunch was really good. We both had the chicken Kebab which was super tasty, fresh, hot and overall really delicious. And the fries were top notch! Friendly & welcoming staff too.
