We were staying at a 5 star hotel just down the road but the the breakfast was luke-warm and limited on choice so we decided to find somewhere open on a Sunday morning so took a walk to this cafe as it had quite a good rating on a swell known search engine . The person serving was doing lots of cleaning which inspired confidence in us that this would be an okay place to eat.The vegetarian breakfast that we both had was both hot and tasty and it was the first time I have had bubble and squeak for breakfast since childhood days. Very nice and good value for money. One little criticism, the woman serving and the man doing the cooking were very polite but never smiled once, admittedly it was a very grey day weatherwise. To be greeted with a smile makes so much difference and in my experience would attract more customers. But overall very nice and thank you both.

Consigliato!

Not quite a restaurant not quite a transport cafe but you know me and the guys are really fond of this place. So the food is pretty much the bog standard cafe menu but you have a feeling the sausages are not the lowest common denominator ( pig trotters, ears, gristle etc) but just slightly above that , we politely call them catering sausages. Eggs are always nicely done, copious amounts of beans and freshly made toast to go with your brekkie. Staff very friendly and polite and it feels a bit like home from home, decor is lovely with exposed bricks you see in trendy modern restaurants. In the summer lovely outdoor area to soak up the atmosphere in the market. Not sure why they have stacks of red and white wine but does prove an interesting talking point. make sure you stick to the set menus as they are best value. So not the place you take somebody on a date ( unless your a filthy cheapskate ) but perfect for Friday breakfast

The area around the cafè is very nice as well :) And I have to say that the owner is a very nice person, always available and kind! I would recommend it to everyone!

Went on a Sunday the service and the food was great. Not very known street but a great atmosphere. Also the pricing was very cheap considering being in the city.

Visited in August 2016. Had a really great breakfast, loads of different options. Best bacon I have had in London, no fat, lean, back rashers that I could have eaten all day. Service was polite and quick, all for about a fiver, would go back there anytime. Thank you Market Cafe for getting me off to a great start for my day in London.

Went here for breakfast while visiting family, order was taken quickly but we had to wait a long time for food to arrive, when it did arrive we only got three of the four breakfasts we ordered, when we said to staff we where still waiting for one more breakfast and also the toast to arrive we where apologised to and was told it would just be coming, all three breakfasts was finished before the fourth one arrived, we still didn't get the toast that is meant to come With breakfast, when we went to pay for the breakfast we were not offered any discount for the time or order was delayed.

Visited this cafe for a quick lunch, initial order was taken fast as was payment. After 20mins of waiting I was asked to order again as they had forgot to write it down and pass it to the kitchen despite taking my money. Asked for a refund and crossed the road where I was served the same food faster and cheaper.

This is a great little place if you are after a quick basic cheap meal! I had a jacket potato and cheese on toast (on two separate occasions) both were just as advertised, value for money!

A firm favourite for great quality breakfasts when staying in the area. We always go for the bacon egg type options but they have a huge range of other breakfast / lunch / dinner options. A great honest clean and well priced café.

After a visit to Whitecross Street's food market you may well not need any other sustenance but the outdoor seating area is great for a stop with decent coffee or the range of smoothies; beware though, it's often busy. Inside is clean and bright while...

Out I went, for a thoroughly intense knees-up with Janto, Chunger and Big Mervyn. After drowning our sorrows with Big Merv’s inheritance from his deid Mam, and ingesting some lighter fluid avec workerman’s glue, we headed to The Joker for a knees up. First in, Chunger got in the pints which were all exceedingly tasty and helped wash down the acrid tang of glue at the back of my throat. It was only after Janto repeatedly and brazenly kept impersonating a couple on a date next to us, by doing the young man’s lovely, soft posh accent that things really got funny. ‘WHAT IS SO FUNNY?’ He boomed. ‘Please let’s just leave, these men are savages and I think they’re on something, they’re out of their heads!’ said his date. We laughed some more and Merv said, too right, we’re out of our heads on good times, and also a heavy dose of my deid Ma’s dosh. ‘You sick freaks’ intoned the gent. ‘You think you’re so funny!’ It was then that Chunger stood up and roared with the strength of a hurricane into his own pint glass - ‘I AM TRYING TO HAVE A LAUGH. MY FATHER WAS NOT VERY NICE TO ME’ We fell about the floor laughing and ordering more pints which flowed as fast as the beautiful currents of the Arno. Things became decidedly ugly when I took a gulp of the young gent’s gravy which was on his plate, but Big Mervyn settled accounts by leaning on the man’s shoulder and whispering a few sweet nothings. Overall, I had a cracking night and the craic was 90 as we Ho Ho Ho’d all the way home with the young couple’s umbrella which they very kindly gave to us, as well as £50, which was very generous.
